When in the Gallery app, you can see in the upper right corner a icon that looks like a networked device. Touching it you see a list of players that the phone discovered on your network. In my case it found two, my blue ray player a Panasonic 210, and my WDLive gen 3. I was wondering how these things connected.
Turning on the WDLive and the hdtv, I reselected the unit when I had some pictures that I took in the phone and without prompting the wd was showing the photos on the screen. With a short delay, as I flipped the photos past on the phone they displayed on the screen.
I was unable to make another folder of pictures play with the unit. The application of the share icon appers to be inconsistent.

So i got this beautiful machine today and ive had a few problems on it. So far the camera has messed up on me twice. I was taking a picture of someone with the rear camera and it just froze. I clicked home and then force stopped the camera application from settings and then tried to go to the camera and it said camerancouldnt connect. Had to restart. Then i took some pics and videos front facing and rear. Now when I go to the camera app it stuck on the front facing camera, no matter which camera I try to use. Also i work at Bestbuy and when. We were trying to set up the demo device we connected it to an HD screen via hdmi obviously and i tried playing a youtube video in HD. Kept saying tap to refresh so I tapped and then all of a sudden it just hard crashed. I had to just turn it back on. Also right now just trying to watch HD youtube keeps telling me to tap to refresh. Not sureif thats just me and my internet cnnnection but yeah. Just wanted to put these out there. Remember still an early version but I do not think google should have removed the beta tag on this OS
I have a particular video I recorded in HD that when played in the correct orientation (vertical) it won't play. If I attempt to hold the phone vertically and play the video it will play the first couple seconds then say "sorry, this video cannot be played". I noticed that if I hold the phone horizontally (but half the screen turns blue because of the glitch in CM7) for a couple of seconds right when the video starts, then turn it vertical, I can continue watching the video fine all the way through. Just as long as I don't start the video holding the phone vertically.. and reasons as to why this is? I made sure it wasn't the file itself so I watched it on my desktop and it worked just fine.

It's a nightly bug, will probably get fixed within a few days at most.
I hooked up my Transformer to my LCD TV. The TV is full 1080p.
I noticed that a sizable area around the edge of the display is clipped off. For example I cannot see the status bar on the TV, but it is still there on the transformer screen as well.
I was wondering is anyone else having this problem? or even better a solution?
Thanks
It does this because the display on the transformer is 1280x800, so it cuts the display down to 1280x720 (720P). This way it displays full screen on the tv what your trying to watch.
Is there anyway to have the transformer output to 1280x800? I also do not like how the output appears zoomed.

first check so the TV shows 1:1 pixel ratio/full pixel and not "normal". My TV cuts of the hdmi signal somewhat, even with computers attached, call it overscan if you like, unless i choose "full pixel" (sonys name for it).
So try hunting in your settings on the TV. When i tried on my TV i didnt loose anything but the statusbar is not shown on tv, i guess thats not realy important as it is the video/app you want to see and they are not aware of the statusbar anyway.
Great!! Thanks a couple of things to try.
hmmm
I thought that hiding the bar was a feature!
I have this issue also. It not only cuts off the bottom bar but both sides are croped a little. I have tried the HDMI out on 3 different TV's and they all show the same croped effect. This is weird to me because my laptop displays 720p or 1080p perfectly on the same TV's Is there a fix for this?
Thanks
Hi, I just bought the Samsung HDTV Adapter. The main reason I bought it is that I could see what the camera is watching while taking the photo or video. However, whenever I activate any camera app, there is a message on my Note's screen that "HDMI not available while application is running..."
Anybody knows the reason and how to fix it? Also, for unknown reason, approximately top 5% and bottom 5% of my Note's screen are not being displayed on my HDTV.For example, on the home screen, the top half of the time is not displayed.
For the second part - the Note's screen resolution is 1280x800 (16:10) which is a bit more than the usual 1280x720 mode (16:9) in HDTV. Your TV may have automatic adaptation of the picture turned on and is trying to fit the picture by cutting here and there.
I've yet to try using camera with the mhl adapter. Maybe later today.
...
OK, I've tried - same result as yours.

This has been discussed already. Have a search of this forum.
Basically it's due to the difference in aspect ratio between your TV and the tablet.
Under the original firmware, when using a video app like MX Player it was possible to zoom in on the tablet and this would allow the image on the TV to zoom to the point where the black bars on the disappeared. This no longer works on either the 4.3 or 4.4.2 firmware. If you use HDMI a lot and the bars bug you, you need to roll back to the 4.2 firmware. Bear in mind you will still get the black bars on the main GUI, but not in movie players that allow zooming.
thanks for your answer
i found this im not sure if working

Good find. For my part I decided to take another route. I now use a wireless dongle and the free companion app by EZCast to stream movies to my TV which works quite well now - when streaming in EZCast mode (basically WiFi direct) there are no bars on the left and right. The screen can be turned off to save battery. You can also minimise the app while you're streaming a film to allow you to open the IMDB app for those vital 'what has she been in before' arguments with your partner . The dongle was about £30 from Amazon. It also features EZMirror which, um, mirrors the whole tablet's screen to the TV but then you're back to having bars left and right, and there's too much latency for gaming. Also, when using EZMirror, there is a pronounced slow down in the tablet whereas when using an HDMI cable there is no performance penalty at all. It's a shame that Nvidia aren't taking advantage of the latter as devices that output images to a TV via an MHL port/adapter experience a considerable performance hit as the device has to work so much harder. Another negative factor here is that the Note doesn't seem able to take a charge when connected to a USB hub via an OTG cable which also limits the usefulness of the tablet as a media device connected to a TV or monitor.
To return to the original problem, my TV has an option in the settings menu to either 'just scan' or to display 16:9. The latter removes a big chunk of the bars on the left and of the screen, but it also hides part of the top and bottom of the picture, which is OK on a movie, but less so when viewing the home screen etc.

Can you share us the photo?, I'm thinking on buying one and I want it to use for playing videos on my TV.

Do you mean EZCast information?
If so, there's lots of info on YouTube that will explain/show you how it works http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h6_U44XUdJ0. Search for videos by EZCast themslelves - they have videos for various devices.
Bear in mind that there are two basic modes, EZCast and EzMirror. EZMirror literally mirrors everything you see on your tablet's screen (which also leads to vertical black bars on the left and right of the picture on the TV screen, just like when you use HDMI due to the differing aspect ratio of the tablet and the TV).
EZCast presents a menu on the tablet screen and then allows you to select different types of media to stream to the TV. This works well for films because it will fill the TV screen. It's less useful for streamimg music to a TV at the moment because it will only stream one song file at a time, after which you have to select another song.
If you buy one, there are different hardware versions available. Mine has 128MB of RAM. I have a feeling that those on offer that have 256MB RAM and a faster CPU will provide better streaming performance.
Hope this helps

Oops, sorry. The exact size of the bands on the left and right of the TV screen will depend upon what formats the TV supports. For example one of my TVs zooms in slightly by default cropping a bit of the top and bottom of the phone or tablet's screen off (meaning you lose most of the notification bar and some of the soft keys, or whatever is at the bottom of the picture). I have another TV that allows different settings such as 'just scan' that shows all of the phone or tablet's screen. The downside of this is that on a phone/tablet with a 1280x800 resolution you have vertical black bars about an inch wide on either side of the picture on a 32" TV. I'll try and get a photo...
Unfortunately the camera on my HTC Sensation is struggling to capture the problem tonight, but here's a closeup of the right hand side of my TV with the tablet set to full screen mode, and the TV picture settings to 'just scan'. I might try and get a fuller photo the daylight tomorrow.
