Tips and tricks to prolong battery life

Switch To Wi-Fi
If you live in a place where Wi-Fi speeds are good or hot-spots are abundant, you should really consider switching to Wi-Fi. This will save you from the great amount of power that a constant 3G connection needs. Hit Menu > Settings > Wireless & Networks > Wi-fi to do the needful or you can use the easy way of dragging down that status bar and switching on from there. Also, you can permanently turn off your 3G by holding the power button and deactivating the data connection (froyo) or going to Settings > Wireless & Network > Mobile Networks > un-tick the data enabled box.
Switch To 2G
While 3G connections are fast, they also drain up a ton of battery. If you cannot switch to Wi-Fi for a particular reason, try switching to 2G when you are not in need of a high-speed connection. Sure, the slow speed can kill, but it’s good enough if you want your email updates and your contact sync. Plus, it can be very useful when you need a data connection but your battery is low. Switch to 2G from Menu > Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks > Use Only 2G Networks.
Turn Off Sync
If you aren’t comfortable about turning off mobile data access entirely, you should consider being selective about the apps which are sync with the cloud. The best is to turn off syncing entirely for maximum gains. Also, some apps have an option to increase the timeout at which it pings a server for a sync. Try increasing that to the maximum possible interval. Settings for sync can be controlled from Menu > Settings > Accounts & Sync > Background Data. Also, disable Auto-sync from the same screen.
Control The Screen Brightness
Unless you are in direct sunlight for a long time, consider switching your phone to the lowest possible brightness. This works pretty well indoors and also gives your Android battery life a pretty significant boost. Screen brightness can be controlled from Menu > Settings > Display > Brightness.
Calibrate Your Battery
You have to be rooted for the following procedure. Calibrating the battery is a very simple procedure. First of all, charge your phone until is gets to 100%. Then, keeping the phone in charging, switch it off because it will charge for a little longer. When it vibrates and shows 100% battery, boot into CWM recovery mode by pressing the following buttons: Vol up + Vol down + Home button + Power button. Then go to Advanced and click on wipe battery stats. If you don't have CWM recovery, you can use an app called battery calibration.
If anyone has any more tips, please do not hesitate to contribute.
Note: These tips are from another website. I only modified them for our specific phone and added the battery calibration tip. I don't take any credit for creating them but they did take a while to modify so a don't hesitate to hit the thanks button!

I just searched this and it lead me to another forum. However, the persons experience was that when he used the task killer, he would use the auto kill every 30 minutes option. He reported that the apps he had killed would just start up again a couple of minutes later so this caused battery drain (This is the thread i read it from). It is also bad for android to use task killers which is written on this website.
missing hint:
delete Gallery3D, use e.g. quickpic instead
Juice defender is a great way to save battery. You can manually set which apps to use internet. It also turn off internet at screen off. The only problem is Airtel users have to deal with annoying usage popup after everytime the internet is disconnected

@Smonic
you should mention SetCpu profiles...governors too
coz we "all" know if we have set governor to performance at 1000mhz....battery goes down faster....

I read in some places on the internet that in some instances Juicedefender would drain battery even more, beacause it switches Wifi on and off frequently.

Flight Mode or Turn off?

Hello, I can't charge my phone much(like 20-30 mins every other day) so I turn my phone off when I dont need it but I turn it on like 3-4 times a day to send SMS or make a call and my question is:
What is better in order to save battery, Turn the phone off and on(like 3-4 times a day) or put it on flight mode when I am not need it?
Depend on how much battery you want to save.
Turning off should save more battery than any other method.
But if your battery can last long enough to wait for another charge then flight mode is fine too.
Along with the flight mode you can reduce the brightness to "0" and turn off WiFi , mobile data , Bluetooth , GPS , to save even more battery when on.
Turning off and on everyday can also ruin you battery.
So, If I was in your place I would go with the flight mode method and see if it lasts long enough , if not then there always the turn off and on method

[Q] Wifi doesn't want to be turned off

Hi
I recently noticed that my battery life has been better then recent days
I opened up the battery screen and found out that it shows as if the wifi is always turned on (picture attached)
Doubled checked that the wifi symbol is grey + checked the wifi section on the phones' settings
Have any idea what can cause the problem?
Thank you
Open wifi settings/ menu /advanced settings/ and check the wifi sleep state. I have mine always on as I spend most of my time in a wifi environment.
If you set it to sleep when screen off you will see it in the battery state screen you've referred to.
I personally don't find any battery benefits from sleep when screen off but try it for yourself. Your situation might be different.

This will turn off the wifi while sleep if the wifi is on generally. What I'm referring is that my wifi stays on (with no connection, just drains part of my battery) even after I turn it off
There are several settings menu settings that pertain to wifi. Disable the settings that allow Google to check wifi status even when wifi is off, automatically search for new access points and never sleep.
.

WiFi always on Problems for 6.0.1

So I was using PA and now on PN. FK then and now EX kernel.
I still have the same problem. The Wifi is ALWAYS ON even after I turned it off or after I placed it on airplane mode.
Now before you all say turn off Wifi Scanning, Bluetooth scanning and keeping WiFi on or off.
Like in Pictures:
-Bluetooth and Wifi Scanning is off
-Keep Wifi ON during sleep only when plugged in
The only way I can turn it off is to restart my phone or reconnect to a network and disconnect.
I notice if I exit the house and turn off Wifi some time later the WiFi will be off but seen in detail battery stats and stays that way till I connect to another network and disconnect properly, Or I leave & turn off the Wifi properly before I exit the Wifi range.
WHAT IS THIS PROBLEM?
It''s kinda that I need to always do this. If I forget and I have a large bar of WiFi and need a restart. -_-
I have average battery life 4hours SOT and get 12hours of Battery life. Clean flashed PN but flashed a back up of my Apps from Titanium.
Thanks guys in advance!!
Hope someone can give me a solution for this!
Have a nice one!:good:

Poor standby time.

Hey guys, I am having some problems with my battery on cm13, it's good when I am using the phone but standby time is just horrible, in 15mins i lose about 3-4%. Does anyone else have this problem, and do you know how to fix it?
First try and update to the newest cm13 nightly
Also look at battery in setting menu and see what uses your battery the most
Also turning off features such as wifi Bluetooth nfc and data connection and turn off wifi and Bluetooth scanning and location except when you need them
If you have a weak 4g cellular signal you may
Need to switch to 3g in network settings some custom kernels have atrocious battery life also sorry to throw a book at you but the all that apply to you
Turn off sync also helps a lot
Turn on efficiency or power saving in battery settings also helps
Then turn on simulate color space monochrome in developer options
Turn off ok Google also
Also turn off usb debugging when your not using it
