Well, congratulations on the new phone, I suppose.
Now, start searching, bro. You would have found this if you had applied yourself.

Dev-Edition & Roms

Hey all been out of the loop for a little bit and I have a question. With the phone being as locked down as it is I was thinking of getting the Verizon GS5 Dev-Edition. Can I use ROMs and/or Kernels that are in the main GS5 forum?
Thanks for the advice/help in advanced!

If it's the Dev Edition and once rooted, I would think so. I could be wrong.

Appreciate the quick reply! I'd imagine Kernals might be hit or miss but ROMs would be ok but I could be wrong on both accounts and I just wanted to make sure before I bought it.

Either way, the Dev edition is the way to go. There is a custom build in 'Original Android Dev' for the VZW S5 down a couple subforums that is confirmed stable.

Yea I saw the Kernel but there aren't any ROM's in the Verizon forum, the main GS5 forum is hoping though so I wanted to make sure I can actually do what I intend with the device given the money. Especially since I know the Dev-Edition will never get official updates from samsung.

I'm curious myself. I just purchased an M8 but if we can flash ROMs from T-Mobile/AT&T/Int'l/Etc onto the rooted/unlocked S5 DE I'd probably buy that instead.

From what I'm reading it should be ok as long as we use a Verizon kernel because the Intl version seems to also have the Snapdragon 801.
Waiting for someone with experience to confirm though.
Anybody?

Galaxy S6 Stock Roms are available!!

Galaxy S6 stock roms are available for download from Sammobile website. It will be available on Samsung-Updates shortly!
So... what does this mean? Can I buy an AT&T S6 and immediately flash it to stock? Will that screw up payments?

-laughs- pkulak do not get frustrated with people who write things like that.. Any stock rom that is posted will be modified to clear out bloat and crap most people don't want.. Those people who want a vanilla/stock rom will wait for it to be deodexed etc..
The Samsung Pay is not even released yet.. don't worry about that.. once your root/custom recovery your phone.. it may not even work.. depends..

Replacement phone has 5.0 - how can I root it?

My old phone had some hardware issues and because it was still under warranty, Verizon replaced it. However, it has lollipop, not kitkat. How do I root this beast?

It depends on the version of
lollipop your on
If you are on any version after BOD5 pretty sure you will not be able to root or downgrade to kit Kat to gain root

No offense man, if you can't figure that out, you shouldn't try to root your phone. It'll go poorly then you'll have 64844890 more questions. Just read up on the stickies...

Look bubba, I rooted my phone a year ago when I got it (and the previous 3 phones I owned) and that's the last time I did it. I don't do this every day so I don't know where every little "thing" is or how to do it in my sleep.
Thanks for not being any help...
Go to About Phone and look at the build number. The last 4 character is what you're looking for.

Yeah it's been the same method to find your build for every android phone since ever. But you can't find it all of a sudden, after rooting 3 other phones. OK good luck with all of that then.

Ok check your build number in about phone and if you have BOE1 or BOG5 then you are out of luck. No root available for them, anything else is root-able.

Finally got to checking this (busy week) and I see that I have BOG5. So, is this a temporary thing as in it hasn't been cracked yet, or is this more along the lines of the Galaxy Note and can't be cracked?
Thanks for your help and thanks to berfles too.

Nope, sorry, OE1 and OG5 you can't downgrade because of the locked bootloader. But there is a good news that they may found away to unlock bootloader on Verizon G5, we just have to wait and see if they will in fact release the exploit.

Question about Samsung Galaxy S8 Edge

Hello everyone,
I own a Samsung Galaxy S8 Edge from Thai.
The problem is that the reference registered on the phone and the reference that is in the parameter does not match (SM-G9350 and SM-G9500).
Can you bring me your help in order to root my device and replaced the original rom with another custom rom that owns the playstore because in the original rom the playstore is not there.
Thanking you in advance.

If it was purchased used it may have an s8 port on it. That's what I was running.
It was bought in a Thai shop, I think now it's a fake. But can I do something about it?

Try it mate... try king root, it supports a lot of models.
Try do benchmark and see what results you get, instant way of knowing if it's a legit device or not

Chances are then you won't get any custom recovery or root support.
If it was me I would try and sell it and get a bit of money back for it and buy a real one
ok Thank you for your help.

I can provide you an unlocked bootloader for G930A, so then u will be able to root and install custom rom. Root works perfect for me.

But, Lineage is not gonna work. Only root. Go to google and write "Galaxy S7 AT&T Root Oreo" and then try to find a page called androidsage, they are providing the working ENG BOOT for Galaxy S7 AT&T.
