Remapping both search and long-press search
Hi, i'm currently running an Ice Cream Jibwich (ICS ROM for DZ) and I was wondering if it is possible to re-map the search key to ICS Multi-tasking (The same menu I get when I long-press home) And then also changing the long-press search to the current search function. I've been messing around with the Key files atmel-touchscreen.kl, and doing what you've done (Replacing SEARCH with APP_SWITCH) brings up the GB-style multi-tasking, and I can't find the configuration for the long-press of the search key either. Any help here, or am I barking up the wrong tree?
It wont work on sense 3 rom right?

It won't, no. CM9 was patched to bring up the ICS recent apps UI whenever APP_SWITCH is triggered, else it uses the old GB UI (like in other Roms, AOSP etc)

Is there a way or would one of you coders be willing to make
a seperate app for the quick keys on the G2? CyanogenMod has a config for it, but its nested in the settings. Would love to be able to use the quick buttons regaurdless of the rom I used.

Okay so we all know the 'personalize' softkey is useless and redundant and I need it remaped.I was using the Synergy RC1 rom (amazing) and it had the option to do just that but there was a problem with copy protected apps not showing in the Market,so I had it let it go.Now im running Virtuous unity v1.27.0 and was wondering it theres an app similar too that or is there an mod I can do to remap it to messages or internet.thnx

That would be awesome...I would love to remap it to the browser...
Okay so I extracted the 'rosie settings' app form synergy rom and it installed but when I run it is says I'm running a kanged version of rosie settings any way to bypass this ? And I know what kanged means but still I didn't steal it because you can pay for it .Wtf can anybody shed some light on this?

I think it would be much more convenient to use the search button rather than a long press on the Home button. How can we achieve this on Andromadus ICS or Virtuous Quattro? That would be awesome.
I tried using the CM9 android.policy.jar in Andromadus, but it just shows the old pre-4.0 recent apps menu.
Go to apps and themes and see if the guide there is what you need

Hmm, didn't even see that. He even posted the same link as me, lol.
Delete this thread I guess
Sorry for my noobish question but Is there a fix for this? I've search the entire thread and found nothing.

Could you elaborate some please?

What do you want to fix? The pointer comes up when you touch the dpad an disappears right away.
Unfortunately, there's currently no way to keep the mouse pointer from appearing when touching the trackpad on ICS ROMs right now (at least that's what I'm getting from the countless threads I've read...)
Ohh sorry let me make this more clear, when I touch the touch pad on any ics rom a mouse pointer appears is there a way to remove this?

I don't think you can, most people just look over it..

Just a theory, but if he mods the framework-res apk and edits the mouse pointer to all transparent and repackages shouldn't that make it work for what he wants?

Possibly, but I'm not sure people actually use the trackpad enough for the pointer to be that much of an issue.

Hmm thanks for all the help guys, it doesn't bother me but it would be nice to have the track pad to its original use like in the stock rom but its a want not a need XD

I used the track pad a great deal for editing text, its a no can do with the pointer. I've resorted to just doing that by hand, takes some getting used to but well worth the exchange for a clean ICS Rom!
I found a fix for this issue. If you go to Melchizedeks ics from there is a "trackpad fix" zip. I will post a link later. I was having the same issue, this fixed it for me.

Second Post in thread
How can I remap "recent apps" button to menu and remove those ugly three dots?
Googled and searched the forums for a bit and couldn't find anything specific to the n10. I honestly can't think of a time when I've ever used the recent apps button. I remember my hox phone had the same thing before, and I was able to use a mod somebody wrote to change the behavior. Any ideas? Sorry if this has been asked before.

Well, on stock & AOSP ROMs, the soft-keys on the navigation bar are configurable if you decompile and modify SystemUI.apk or if you build it with the changes from source... AOKP has the option of allowing you to choose and customise the soft-keys and their click and long-press actions...
Oops forgot, I'm on cm10.1 nightly builds ATM.

I hate to bump my own topic, but has nobody really done this? Can somebody explain how to modify button behavior and I can just do it myself, I guess?

What the rip?
You want to delete the "menu" button? I've never heard of doing such a dumb thing.
And you have NEVER used recent apps? That's plain crazy.
Swiped from my Nexus 10 using xda-developers app
I don't want to remove the menu button, I want to move it to where the recent apps button is now. Currently it's in a different place in every app. The recent apps button also can do precisely nothing that can't be done with the home button. I find the three dot menu button ugly and distracting, especially in apps which weren't designed with a lack of hardware menu button in mind. I don't think that's "dumb" at all. Does anybody have a helpful suggestion or am I doomed to trying to figure it out on my own?
