Lol the majority of us won't have this phone by tomorrow unfortunately. I'm holding out hope for a LEGIT launch on 6/27 but I won't believe it until I see it with my own eyes
I'm getting mine at 9:30am tomorrow
My store is selling it tomorrow.

t-mobile needs to communicate better
After reading about how only certain markets were getting the phone, I called the store closest to me to see if they would be getting plenty of stock. I live in Chicago, and there are literally a dozen t-mobile stores within 2 miles of me. So I called the store to inquire, and they told me they wouldn't get getting any - and this is at a semi-flagship store in the Loop. I accepted that I wouldn't be getting the phone for another week, but later decided I can't wait and called a second store. That employee told me that the Chicago *AREA* would be getting the phone, just not any of the stores downtown. Wa-huh? He then offered to give me a list of stores that would have some in stock and told me I should call around and see if I could get on any waiting lists. The very first store I called told me they would be getting 75 units, took my name and told me they would guarantee me a phone. Sending the wife down there around opening time...we'll see. I'm not holding my breath.
This...is a half-assed launch.
Let's lighten it a bit more....

5123 S Pulaski. It's right off of I-55 so it's actually pretty easy to get to.
Gotta find out a way to "convince" the wife I "need" this over my GN lol. Then, must find a store in San Diego that has one. Shouldn't be too hard to find as there are like a million Tmo stores here...
--edit-- out of those million stores, San Diego got a shipment of 75 blue 16gb's to one store and in 2 hrs they sold 60 of 75. Jeez...

I have a good one. Drop my wireless bill buy going with the $30/month for 100 minutes/ unlimited text and 5GB of Data. Get a voip and give everyone my google voice number. Forward GV to my Voip, when I'm out and about. And use WiFi calling when being in the house.
Should easily be able to stay below the minutes
So save $30/month. After 10 months I have saved $300. Sell my vibrants and geeksphone and I will be even.

wifi calling still uses minutes so keep using voip.
I'm gonna wait a month before I actually get one, and that will be from eBay. Current prices are more expensive than the international one even, and of course only a handful of sellers and limited quantity. What I really want to do right now is actually see the damn thing in person, be it the AT&T store, Sprint store, T-mobile store, Verizon store, etc... They are all the exact same anyway, besides the radio of course. Spending months anticipating and reading about a phone, I am prepared to be very disappointed, but am also hopeful it will exceed the lower expectations I have set. After researching and subsequently buying and owning smartphones for a while, one becomes more and more cynical. Maybe I'm just diffficult to please. The Galaxy S II was far from what I imagined, and I would judge it much more harshly than all the reviews I've read. But then again, I've owned some other phones from other brands, and even though I hated some of the GS2 flaws, you gain perspective that this is actually as good as its gonna get, because most of the other phones are just terrible in comparison. It's like choosing the lesser of two evils.
I'm rocking my old Samsung slider phone circa 2007. I still love this thing. No phone has matched it yet. Not even close.
I figured out over a two year period it's only going to be saving me $340 to buy a contract free phone from T-mobile and use the $30 plan vs two year subsidized contract on ATT. That doesn't figure in any extra minutes over 100 that I might use every month. I never use more than 200 or so minutes on my ATT plan now so I have a lot of rollover minutes. I think in the end it might be worth more than $340 just to know I'm not locked in a contract. Still deciding. (currently I using a iPhone w/ ATT 400 minutes / grandfathered unlimited and a G Nexus testing the $30 plan).

For what he paid he definitely overpaid. Retail is $450, so he paid $225 to get it less than two weeks early. He could have gotten the hotspot for more than 7 months for the same amount, or put that towards two years of the extra $10/mo. Either way, he better be totally happy with his purchase.
I get mine this Friday. I see you have that Google I/O informational form in your pic. Is that included in the phone's packaging?
The reason i ask is because I asked my seller about that form and he said that he didn't have it. he said that it might be packaged with the phone itself. He never opened the phone's packaging. So I told him that I'd just find out when i receive it.

Well it depends on where he would have gotten the phone from. Sprint $450..you can say he probably overpaid, $500 RS....you can say he overpaid, BB...I don't think he overpaid. i think its a great deal if you think about it.
Free everything for a month, no contract....etc.
And plus I'm sure there will be big shortage of these phones when they release. I stopped at the bestbuy by my house earlier today and the Rep there told me that this is the biggest preorder they ever had. I'm not sure if he was just talking about this particular store or Bestbuy in general. Just like the Incredible and the iPad this will be backordered. And if you think paying $670 is too much ....wait until June 4th
I think if you really want the phone, you saved up for the phone or whatever if you got the money then go ahead and get it. Because getting one on the 4th is not guaranteed.
Not to reign on some peoples parades of cost, but depending on the store, they may not sell you a phone off contract. I Lou of holding out for new customers and upgrades. Happened to me when I wanted a pre had to hold out a month for when online orders came around
So I'm pretty sure Sprint owed me a $100 rebate...I bought my Evo for $300 plus tax ($45), and Sprint granted me a $70 renewal credit for reupping my previous SERO line for another 2 years (afterwards I switched plans when I bought the Evo).
So I get my rebate check in the mail today, and instead of the $100 my check was for $250!
I remember reading that Sprint has done this before, sent people $250 instead of the $100, but I sure as hell am not complaining. My net payment for the phone is $25!
Dang, my rebate came today also, but it was only $100.
bought my phone the day of the release but barely sent me rebate in last week.. damn i should have just took care of it that same day.. guess ill continue to wait
OP, when did you send in your rebate papers?
I got my phone the 30th of June, I think I sent my rebate in around a week or so later.
So you're going to notify them that they overpaid or at least find out what happened, right? Or are you just going to stick it to them because they're a big corporation?

It's one thing to commit some kind of fraud but keeping money they send you is not sticking it to them, it's letting them stick it to themselves..

So you are thief. Good to know. It doesn't matter if it was your Mom or Sprint. Wrong is wrong.
I have no qualms taking the money. The alternative? Talking to customer service for hours, potentially waiting weeks for another rebate...
This is not the first I've heard of sprint doing this, even my friend received two rebates for the same submission before. Either they're not paid enough to do their jobs right, or they're downright incompetent. To be honest, sprints random incompetence in this case and their ability to still provide great service despite this keeps me as a customer, believer it or not.
When I first signed up for sprint I was supposed to get $100 in referrals...i didn't get them but enjoyed my service from sprint anyways...and still referred people.
The mistake is not my fault, I don't know anyone who would take the headache if trying to correct it over cashing the check
Last year when I was working for sprint I upgraded my phone to the blackberry tour and sent in my rebate. I paid 300 for the device and renewed my contract. I got my rebate a month later and it was for 300 dollars. I got my phone for free and my coworker who did the same upgrade got his rebate for 100.
I checked with someone at sprint since I worked there and they told me to keep it. So right now I'm waiting for my next rebate right now and I am interested to see if I get another cool MIR. The last one helped me buy my laptop and if the do it again the next one will help me pay for my wedding.

Ha, it's actually funny you call me a thief for this.
I called Sprint yesterday to report a gameloft game that was mistakenly charged to my account 6 times, instead of once. The charge looked like a single $29.94 charge and I told them $4.99 of it was legit but they took the whole $30 off anyways.. Then they offered me a $70 rebate to reset my contract to begin yesterday, and I was VERY clear about maintaining my Dec first upgrade
THEN they ship a free airrave for a line on my account thats used in a rural area, and waive the mir for it AND removed the spending limit on my account..
Despite all that: Yes, I would let Sprint mistakenly send me money and keep it, especially when (as nhutpham mentioned) the alternative is likely spending another hour or two of my life on the phone with Sprint's courteous but incompetent CS.

I got my rebate last week from Sprint for $100. A few days before that, I got my $100 Visa Gift card from Bluefish (corporate discount package deal). So my total true cost for the EVO was only $99. Well worth it!

are you kidding me? you knew full well that the evo would cost an extra $10/month compared to other smart phone plans and you bought it anyway.
you can't possibly compare the $10 fee and keeping money that is not yours.
the fact of the matter is that they paid you too much money by accident...if you keep it and can sleep just fine at night, that's your call.

So Ive heard that the G2 will be available at some point in Radio Shack stores. Has anyone upgraded a phone through Radio Shack? If the price is really 150 with an upgrade (not a brand new contract) I can wait. If this only applies to a new contract I'm preordering with out delay.

I've never bought a phone through Radio Shack but yeah it'll be $149.
Thanks for the link. Stll wondering if that applies to a 2 year upgrade or brand new contract. I enjoyed the G1 and actually got it for $150 through T-Mobile. Im not trying to spend 200 bucks on this phone but I will if I have to. Sorry for the question everyone, I just feel so dumb when the device is 50 bucks cheaper somewhere else or cause you get it at a later time.
My buddy works at RadioShack and apparently his store isn't doing preorders, so call around first to see which stores are accepting preorders. Proceed to ask them if current T-Mo subscribers are eligible.
Happy hunting!

If Radioshack is offering the phone at a lower price it will most definitely be for new customers and usually existing customers that are past 22 months since their last discounted upgrade.

i talked to some friends that work for radioshack and it will be 150 for an upgrade but they didnt say how long you had to have been on your contract to get the upgrade. i guess the best way is to wait til launch day and try to get one and see if your eligible for the pricing
^Thats good to hear, I'll be checking them out.
Wish tmob corp stores would sell at same price tho.
So looks like its 199 for upgrade price at the shack but they'll sell it on 10/3
Im getting it from the shack for 150 also, i have the N1 on the everything+ plan, and i don't feel like shelling out another 500 bucks, so ill be hopping onto a contract and ditching my new epic! #****sprintandthatstupid$10fee
If you are upgrading get it through T-mobile, thats what I did.
Just call 611 and say "retention" when it asks what you're calling about.
I told the retention rep that radioshack was offering it for $150 without rebate but they
weren't offering pre-orders and asked if I could pre-order for that price.
It is gonna cost me $180 after tax but I was told by my local T-mo store that I
should still be able to get the Mail in rebate which would bring my total cost down to $130
Really you got the best deal so far if you do get the rebate.
I saw some people call loyalty to get it for 150 plus tx, free ship, waived upgrade fee.
But I havent see anyone get the rebate on top of that to be at 130.

Loyalty gave me $99+tax with no upg fee. All in the form of a $180 credit on my account. I elected for $5.99 shipping which somehow mysteriously got upgraded to 3 day select. Now i'm wondering if I could also try processing the $50 rebate, but that's probably pushing it.

I was gonna buy it in the store on the sixth but after reading what you guys paid now I'm thinking I may pre-order it Friday.
Question: When I call should I ask for "loyalty" or "retention" in order to get a better deal. I've been with T-Mobile for more than seven years and have never even been late with a payment. I've been out of contract for the last three years but really don't want to pay full price for this phone. Advice is welcome.

I think either will do, if you have been with them for 7 years they will give you a good deal no matter what. I think what helped me was saying "I really want to get a EVO 4G but if I can get a good deal on the G2 I would like to stay with T-mobile"
Ok I called and got it for 149+tax=164, no ship or upgrade fee, I'm happy with that.

Since the WiFi only XOOM has been officially announced, I just requested my return label from AmazonWireless. I would just like to thank Motorola for doing the smart thing and releasing the WiFi only version in a timely manner. I never had service with Verizon and didn't plane to since I have a Perfect condition Nexus One with unlimited AT&T data. It's a shame that Verizon forced Motorola into that ridiculous price point for a new/unproven product. Don't get me wrong I love my XOOM and thought the $799 price was some what justified, but now that the WiFi only version is about to be available for $599.99 I don't think the Verizon XOOM will sell very well. Also I completely understand that some users want/need built in 3G/4G and more power to you, but I would definitely tell you to consider a WiFi XOOM with a MiFi or a Smart phone with wifi tethering if your trying to save some bucks. Well I guess my little diary entry is over.
P.S. I think it's funny how over the past 2-3 weeks all the post where like "I'm returning this POS XOOM it cost to much and I didn't want data and when I want to look a 5 HD porn streams it freezes and I can't play my MKV movies on it but my iPad plays them in 1080p just fine sarcasm and it doesn't have flash and I need the Micro SD card to work now!" - To these people I say "F*CK OFF!"

First of all, let me say that it's more difficult for me to agree with you since I got $100 price matched off my purchase and used $465 in gift cards to begin with when I bought mine. That said, I have to ask you if it's really worth a couple hundred bucks to lose out on the ability to pull up 3g/4g down the road if the need arose? I have been in 3 specific situations to date that had me out in the boonies and when the AT&T network was in the can the Verizon network saved my bacon. I live and work in the greater Houston area and there are a few places where service is spotty.
I think Verizon will ultimately remove their head from their rear end and kill activation fees alltogether, and being able to sign up for 3g in a pinch and then use it for a few days and turn it off effectively costing you at most 30 bucks would be something I think I would greatly regret.
Just my opinion
Oh I have to mention that I too own a Google Nexus one on the AT&T network, and quite often I am a walking hotspot

If I thought we could rely on Verizon to do this, I'd keep my 3G/4G version as well. We can't today, however, and we have no idea if they will, and so I'm returning my 3G and getting a wifi-only as well. I'll use the $200 (or $250 if the Sam's Club rumor holds true) to pay for 3G/4G as I need it--on-demand--via my Sprint Epic hotspot.
FYI, no, I'm not into rooting, and so I'm not going to go that route to get tethering for free. I'd love to see someone like PDAnet, though, make a solution that will work with the Xoom.

I went to Best Buy during the sweet period of time that a promotional coupon worked online, and talked a floor manager into allowing the price match after showing him the checkout process up to the point of entering the coupon. It was iffy, but in the end he did it. To me, that was the right move because I try to show loyalty even to big box stores in my area. My brother works for Best Buy in another location so I feel good about buying there for that reason too.
In response to the OP, that's really a good enough solution for you then I guess... the nexus one does wifi hotspot without any root required btw.
I for one got nailed with the 35 dollar activation and once again with a little sugar and honey (and persistance) was able to get that credited off my 1st bill.
3G is a must for me. Even if im paying $600 for a mobile device...damn well better have internet/email access when im not on wifi.
Now, some will say they will just tether to there unlimited Android phone. But come on...that gets old, kills your battery, drops in and out, kinda slow..etc. So no thanks.

the up front cost is minuscule when compared to $20 a month for only 1gb of data.... but yes I agree the 3G shouldn't be an up-front premium of $200 just to enable the connection.

But if you're as connected as I'm gonna assume most folks around here are, that's the perfect plan for the few times you don't have WiFi; I've got 10 days left on my month and have used about 300MB.
Yea I'm picking up the xoom wifi on day one here. I already have a sprint 4g overdrive mifi so with unlimited data and aan att nexus one too so in certainly nit gonna pay verizon for data on top of that. I currently have a sprint galaxy tab and I just use the mifi to get data on it when I'm not on home or work wireless.

Sure. Different people have different usage. But if I'm using 2gb+ per month on my phone, there's no way I can stay under 1gb on my tablet.

Interesting. I (used to) use my EVO for everything (web, calendar, E-mail on two accounts, updates, etc.), and I checked my usage with Sprint before signing onto a VZ data plan to see about what I was using for that, and most I'd ever run up was ~450MB.

Wow. I don't understand how you use that little data lol. I easily use 2gb-3gb a month.
This is my data usage for my Nexus One on AT&T. I didn't even have a smartphone for like the first 5 months on the chart. Even the 4GB month I had a Samsung Impression with unlimited internet for $10 a month.

So before this point I have NEVER had a problem with sprint.
Like a normal EVO fanboy I was dying just to pre order my EVO LTE. May 7th came around and i quickly went to sprint.com to pre order. *click, click, *click*
My HTC EVO 4G LTE was pre ordered! Wait, the total is $245.74
A few hours passed and I kept seeing how this site "wirefly" was selling the EVO LTE for 150 bucks with no sales tax and free shipping! I was kinda eh about it because i never heard of the site.
A few more hours passed and saw that the price on wirefly dropped to 119.99!! what a deal! if i would to cancel my order with sprint id saved over 100 bucks!
I quickly call sprint and have been calling sprint. EVERY agent i talk to they tell me i CAN NOT cancel my pre order, the only way i can cancel it is when its about to ship and i have to "refuse" the shipment.
I have called them over 10 times now with each time having a different agent every time, still no luck with this.
Has anyone had any luck with canceling the pre order from sprint??? If so, what was your trick?? I even pulled the "I have been a loyal customer for sprint for over 7 years now"
Sprint customer service reps don't even work for sprint. I have had just about lost my mind until a tech at a corporate store told me they are in a call center some where and have no idea about the phones, and can't do anything that their contract won't allow. Your best bet is live chat on the web site. Once the pre order is made they pay the manufacture ahead of time so you really can't cancel your order. If you refuse your order it will take a looooooonnnnnggggggg time to get your money back.
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take.....Wayne Gretzky....
i was thinking of trying the 100% satisfaction guarantee method.. its a long shot but they guarantee if i dont like i can return it
I had the same problem with a phone I ordered, then decided I didnt want from an actual Sprint store...I had to wait for it to come in and refuse it, it was a headache, but only because I had to wait a few days for everything to play out.
Not sure about wirefly, but usually when you order from sprint online, the activation fee is waived...(could save you some bux!)
$119.99? I pre-ordered yesterday for $149.99 from Wirefly. I think they have a pre-order price match guarantee though so I might have to call them.
Also, Sprint has to charge sales tax because they have brick and mortar stores in your state. They also add in the ridiculously high sprint activation fee that you will still have to pay for separately if you order from Wirefly. Still, you save $50 and some sales tax if you pick it up from Wirefly.
If I were you, I would order from Wirefly now if you're that antsy about it. Refusing the package is perfectly acceptable. Worst case, you miss the shipment, but you bring the un-opened box to UPS, USPS, FEDEX or whichever company shipped it, and they shouldn't have a problem letting you refuse it.

I hate to quote myself, but few people have had luck. So I tried again today.
Rep transferred me to escalations and they cancelled my pre-order hooray.
This after I had called another number yesterday, only to be told i had to wait for delivery. Guess that was a lazy lie on the reps part.
Only difference between yesterday today, that I could possibly think of was. When rep asked for reason for cancellation, I said "found lower price" yesterday. Today I said "I just changed my mind". I doubt this made a difference, but doesn't hurt to say it. Personally, I think it was the different number I called or the rep escalating me to escalations.
I already received the cancellation confirmation email.
Now the only downside is the rep said, it will take worst case 10 days (could be less) for the upgrade to be reset back to your account. I am gonna be trying to get this wirefly deal in the next few days. Hopefully, it doesn't go away.

First link is just their general site price of 150. Second link is Family and Friends for 120.
So updating my previous statement, I checked my upgrade status on wirefly. I was eligible, so much for ten day wait. More like ten minutes.
I just placed my order on wirefly for 120. Lets wait and see what happens.
Couldn't you call the credit card company and cancel the payment. Isnt Pre orders usually charged around the time its shipped?

Nah..I just went to the Sprint store and placed my pre order there, done deal.

I assume going through wirefly for an upgrade phone won't affect any current discount on your account? I got my 3D last year through studentrate and have been getting 23% off from that.
