I flashed my fascinate back to stock with odin and now when i boot up i just get a ton of force closes and they keep coming up and wont let me continue. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
You should have posted this in the General section.
Now, what did you flash to stock from? Were you using voodoo beforehand?
IME, FC hell after an odin restore is due to the PIT file not being used.
Open Odin
Go back into Download Mode on your phone.
Hit the PIT button and select the PIT file you downloaded from the OP of the odin topic.
Hit the PDA button and select the "system" tar you downloaded from teh OP of the odin topic.
Hit Start.
Wait for it to finish (system takes a bit).
Reboot into recovery and wipe data/cache.
Sorry for posting in the wrong section and i was on vodoo and removed it and flashed a differernt rom was most recently on the zinc rom. i also tried to re run odin with pit and still force closeing. thanks for the help so far

Only other thing I can think of off the top of my head is wiping data/cache from both Stock and CWM recovery. You could also try wiping dalvik cache (CWM-advanced) or nuking the contents of dbdata...but that requires either adb or root access and a phone that isn't constantly fc'ing on you.
Have you tried restoring a nandroid backup?
If he was on vodoo then he write have to flash back to a vodoo kernel and then make the disable lagfix folder and reboot. Then revert to stock kernel right?

I think that a good question here would be whether or not you had voodoo installed. Tell us what you are/where running so we can diagnose and help u work through the problem. No worries though, this can be fixed.

ok so orignally flashed vodoo and when it was first put out then i (what i thought was) removed vodoo and flashed the Zinc V2.1.3 Fascinate Rom then i went from that to Blackhole Version 1.2 Rom after i flashed to blackhole and before i did any restore of apps i had 0 internal mem left and couldnt figure out why so i decieded to run odin to put the phone back to 100% stock and now all fc's
I had the same issue today, to gix it I booted to recovery and did "factory reset" it wiped the data and no issues since. I have also changed to the atupid fast kernel instead of voodoo. Hope it helps. I suggest you try it...

Hey guys, new rooter here, hopefully somebody can help me out...
So I was running stock DL18 Eclair, decided to flash Baked Snack 1.6 (babystep.zip).
I rooted, installed Clockwork Recovery, made a backup and everything, as well as backed up with Titanium backup.
I loaded babystep.zip onto my sdcard and flashed using Clockwork. Install was successful, but when I rebooted the phone it hangs on the Samsung loading screen. I tried reflashing, to no avail. I also tried step2.zip, another kernel version of baked snack, no go.
So then I tried reflashing my backup from clockwork recovery. That didn't work either, same problem, just hangs on the Samsung screen.
Does anybody have any advice, or did I brick my phone and now I have to do a factory reset using odin?

How long did you give it on the first boot? Sometimes the first bootup takes a really long time.
Worst case, just do an odin restore with DI18 and then restore with your clockwork backup. Would take like 15 min and you'd be right back to where you were.
How long is really long? I probably gave it a good 5 minutes before restarting.
And I was on my way to doing a factory reset with odin now... where do I insert the .pit into odin? I don't see a pit section
I'm not too familiar with Baked Snack.. is that the kernel file or the rom that you were flashing? Or does it only need the one .zip file?

Baked Snack is a kernel only, it uses the stock Dl18 rom.
Honestly by this point I'm just trying to do a factory restore, cause after re-flashing with my clockwork recovery (which also didn't work) I can't even access my sdcard anymore.
Odin recognizes my phone but I don't see anywhere to insert the .pit file... I'm using Odin Multi Downloader 4.3, is that the right program?
Edit: If somebody felt like helping me over AIM, it would be much appreciated! S/n is anticrombie0909
I dont know what you are using but u should be usind odin3 v1.61 and the pit file goes right above the pda but you dont need the pit file. Just use the tar file and make sure its the approp. Size. Depending on what stock rom you downloaded it should at least be 255mb. And insert the rom in pda section and make sure only reboot is the only thing checked.

Can someone please link me to that version of odin? And why don't I need the .pit file? Finally, do I need to reflash the entire ROM, or only the kernel?
Odin MultiDownloader is an older tool than Odin3 that really isn't meant to be used with our phones. Use Odin3 1.61.
And you should be able to get by without a pit as long as your partitions are still properly partitioned.
Ok, so I managed to do a factory restore using odin, back to stock.
I tried reflashing baked snack again, but it looks like it's hanging on the Samsung screen again... here's exactly what I did, step by step.
1. Wiped my phone, clean Dl18 stock install.
2. Installed Rom Manager, flashed clockworkmod install. Loaded babysteps.zip (the kernel file) onto sdcard.
3. Ran clockwork manager, picked "select file from sdcard," flashed the kernel, which was successful.
4. Went back to clockwork manager's main menu, selected "reboot phone."
Once again, it's hanging on the Samsung loading screen. I've let it sit for about ten minutes now, no change. What am I doing wrong?
You're flashing babysteps, which doesn't work with all phones. Do something a little more mild. Also there is a rom, you know, and the kernel runs better with his custom rom.

So should I try something like worksforall.zip? Or should I just go ahead and install the whole bakedsnack1.6 rom + kernel combo? And if I do the latter, is it the same process (load onto sdcard, go to clockworkmod, install and reboot)?
be careful with it. I did works for all and then rebooted to do step 2 and mine hung samsungmobile.com screen. It took me about a week to fix it as i was having checksum errors, odin screwups, driver issues, clockwork problems, boot problems. Any problem that could happen happened to me. Im currently fixed and restoring my nandroid after using odin, im probably gonna wait for a better build and i suggest you do the same, but it would be probably easier for you to fix yours than me to fix mine
So I ended up installing the entire Baked Snack 1.6 kernel + rom, which seems to be working great now. Thanks for your help everyone, this thread can be deleted.
Using Odin to flash I9000XXJPY. Odin finishes correctly and the phone restarts and goes into the recovery screen. I get two error messages.

If I reboot system it gets stuck on the logo screen.
Sounds to me like the first step would be to reflash the ROM and see if that solves it.
If you still have the same trouble, flash a recovery ROM such as your original stock ROM or Darky's Resurrection and go from there.
Of course, more technically minded types here will likely have better/more complete advice.
Good luck

Tried that several times and didn't work. Any other tips.
Flash a stock 2.1 rom using 3 files plus pit file and repartition ticked. I'd format the internal sd and do another factory restore then to make the phone as clean as possible before re flashing jpy. If using 3 files use pit file with repartition ticked. If one file skip pit and ensure repartition is un ticked. I've done this loads of times to get back to stock rom after custom roms. Good luck, hope this helps

Flash JPU first with repartition ticked using 512.pit, then flash the JPY you have without repartition. JPU also has the 3-button activated bootloaders and works great... no need to go back to 2.1, imho.
Im having this same issue and flashed many combos but still not working.
It seems the int sd is not formatted correctly and wont mount.

Yeah you can do that too. It doesn't really matter which you flash to as long as it's the 3 files with pit and repartition. It's only a base rom to enable you to get the phone clean and to flash over again

Use Odin 1.7 from my signature.
Which Firmware you ON & what did you flash?
used the recovery to create an external partition on what I thought was the external sdcard, but when I reloaded rom I found that it has made a partition on the phones internel sdcard storage and have now lost over 4gb , is there away to repartition the note 4 as to delete the partition that the recovery made ?
thanks
steve
Flash the phone with odin and add the pit file. Careful though...
Edit- have now fixed procedure if anyone else has similar was to root and recovery then flash stock pit then flash stock rom which hung at Samsung logo wouldn't go any further, then flashed cm12.1 which booted fully and working but to start afresh I flashed stock rom again that wouldn't boot before which then did boot, , then flash cm12.1 back on and now working again FEEEEEEWWW
yep tried to find a pit file , finally foiund one, did odin with options= re-partition, f.reset time, nand eraze, phone efs clear, auto reboot and wvalla brick.
how do I get myself out of this one ?
it will go into download mode but nothing else wont flash roms keeps failing , anyone have an original pit file for the note 4 ?
thanks
steve
sorry about gramor I type as I speak and I don't speak full stops or exclamation marks and the like lol. sorry
I was wondering whenever I should post this in the "bricks" thread, I'm still not sure what the term "brick" means entirely but what I'm gathering is that it's usually when people try to flash sommat and mess it up, this isn't exactly the case for me, either way I believe this case to be special enough to deserve a separate thread, this is not your usual "guys help I installed custom rom x and am bootloop".
Context: A couple days ago I was in a call with someone and right after hanging up my phone froze completely, I had to reboot but then I was stuck at boot (bootloop), decided to try and wipe data (didn't really have anything important there) but I got an error when I tried to mount /data. After a while I decided to flash stock with odin, I was confident that would fix it, but it didn't, I was stuck at boot again, I went into recovery and tried to check if I could mount /data, but nope, none of that.
This is the error I get when I try to mount /data:
In stock recovery
Code:
-- Wiping data...
E:format_volume: rfs format failed on /dev/stl11
In CWM
Code:
-- Wiping data...
formatting /data...
Error mounting /data!
Skipping format...
Sometimes it'll just freeze at "Formatting /data...". By the way, the errors were the same before and after flashing stock.
Apparently something is wrong with my data partition, here is a list of things I have and have not tried so I eliminate the potentially not-useful replies, oh yes I can see them coming already:
I have tried:
-flashing stock with odin, it all works fine and I get PASS, only error I get is when my phone is installing CSC during recovery, but that's only because /data is unusable
-including PIT and bootloader
-yes, it's the correct PIT.
-yes, I checked re-partition.
-flashing PDA, MODEM, CSC, BL and PIT in every possible order
-trying mount /data (duh, that's the very issue)
-trying mount /data after flashing stock
-googling a lot
I have not tried:
-Any odin option other than the default ones and re-partition
I'm not really sure why this keeps happening after flashing PIT, as far as I know that's supposed to re-partition my phone, doesn't that mean it should wipe out anything in the partitions, thus getting a completely new /data partition?. I'm not an expert when it comes to android phones, I'm just comparing it to linux.
Is there a way to just REMOVE my /data partition and make a new one?, I believe that would fix the issue.
Some extra background, I have been using Hyperion 9 (not sure if it was 9?, I know it was the latest OFFICIAL hyperion rom though), I have bricked my phone in the past many times when I was a teenager (yes, this very same phone, I've had it for years), and also fixed it many times by flashing stock, at the end I got bored of it and stayed at stock, then about a year or two ago (I think?) I decided to find a custom rom + a kernel to save up on battery, I don't really remember what I did but I got Hyperion 9 and some kernel, haven't messed with my phone since.
Also, yes, I know this is a very old model, but if I can fix this phone I definitely will, I have my reasons.
EDIT: added more info
EDIT: I think one part sounded a bit rude, edited
Where you get stock rom?
Did you tried stock from this thread?
This stock only have 3 file: csc, modem, pda.
And don't use .pit Odin file.

I've tried multiple stocks from sammobile just to be sure, even stocks from different regions, I see little point in trying more. The stock rom is not the problem, it works fine and I've used the same stock rom effectively in the past.
same problem here in cwm or odin
