This basic guide was requested by a few users who found the Elite Dev zeppelinrox instructions a little overwhelming, so I found a "little" time to whip this up for you and others.
This guide is written for rooted deodexed SGS3 ROMs only with TW OOM priority above 1 (lower value = higher priority and less likely to be killed off). The patch sets the OOM value of the HOME Launcher to 1.
Use Auto Memory Manager (AMM) to check TouchWiz Home OOM priority >1
Menu > Running Processes > Group by OOM grouping
++ For those using an alternative Home Launcher (eg. Apex), ensure that it is set as "default/home" launcher, so that OOM priority for only the HOME Launcher is changed. Any change to home launcher default will require reboot into CWM recovery and wipe advanced/dalvik. ++
Note: For Apex, I have only checked for OOM priority change, not for redraw.
Below: Unpatched ALF2 TW OOM Priority = 6

TWO METHODS POSTED IN THIS GUIDE:
1. Modify your downloaded ROM.zip from Windows PC
2. From running ROM on Device
METHOD #1
* Modify your downloaded ROM.zip from Windows PC
Requirements:
1. 7-Zip
2. Root & CWM Recovery Thanks Chainfire!
3. Deodexed "ROM.zip" : Example = GT-I9300_WanamLite.XXALF2.V1.2.NO-WIPE.zip
4. Nandroid backup in CWM Recovery
1. Using 7-Zip on the PC, extract the services.jar from the ROM.zip system/framework/
a) Right click on ROM.zip > 7-Zip > open archive
b) Open system/framework
c) Extract services.jar to somewhere on the PC you can find it (Do not close 7-Zip system/framework/)
2. Upload the extracted services.jar to ICS OOM Priority Charger , follow the instructions there......
3. Download the patched services.jar to PC (the CWM.zip file may not work as it’ll most likely require the updater-script modified)
4. Naviagte to your patched services.jar, left click (hold) and drag into the open 7-Zip system/framework
5. Close 7-Zip & copy ROM.zip to sdcard
6. Boot into CWM Recovery, Nandroid backup
7. Wipe cache & advanced/dalvik
8. Flash ROM.zip
9. Use AMM app to check TouchWiz Home OOM priority =1
10. Enjoy
METHOD #2
* From running ROM on Device
Requirements:
1. Root
2. Root Explorer app or similar (instructions are for Root Explorer)
3. Deodexed ROM
4. Nandroid backup in CWM Recovery
1. Open up device browser http://android.mimic.ca/
2. File upload > choose file > Root Explorer > phone menu > home > system > framework > services.jar
3. This will exit to the ICS OOM Priority Charger webapp
4. Upload
5. Download > Save As "services.jar" > OK
6. Open Root explore and navigate to /sdcard/Download
7. Long tap services.jar > copy
8. Back > back > system > framework
9. Mount R/W
10. Paste > overwrite
11. Set permissions: long tap services.jar > permissions > rw-r--r--
12. Reboot
13. Use AMM app to check TouchWiz Home OOM priority =1
14. Enjoy
Note: Some widgets (weather) may occasionally redraw as their OOM priority may allow them to be killed off, but you should see reduced TW Launcher redraw.
HUGE THANKS to subvertbeats@XDA for pointing me in the right direction and of course blk_jack@XDA for ICS OOM Priority Charger and especially zeppelinrox@XDA for the services.jar patch instructions.
Added Disclaimer: All your own risk. I am not responsible for anything you may try here. I didn't make you do it, blah blah blah
Just to clarify, reading into the script a little it seems the priority changer changes the priority of the "home launcher", rather than "touchwiz home" itself in services.jar....
Am I reading this correctly?
So if someone were using, say Apex launcher as default home, this will still work as intended, and reduce the redraws on whichever app set as deafult home?
If so thank you VERY much

Just testing for you now.............
AMM > Apex OOM = 5
Set Apex as "home" launcher
Reboot and wipe dalvik
Check with AMM > Apex OOM = 1
YES, I belive it will, should work/help, I will edit my OP
Backup and test and see if theres any improvement in preventing the launcher being killed off, and causing redraw

The "ROM.zip" refers to a any custom ROM that is in .zip format used to flash from CWM Recovery.
Example: GT-I9300_WanamLite.XXALF2.V1.2.NO-WIPE.zip
Most custom ROMs are installed this way, so using method #1, you can just replace the services.jar before copying the custom ROM.zip to you sdcard for flashing.
I'll update the OP, again.

I've been trying this method many times, but to no avail. I'm currently running on the NoSympathy OTA ROM. I've tried both methods, as well as using adb push/pull then copying it to the folder, then fixing permissions, and still nothing. It's like that website for patching the services.jar isn't working. Apex Launcher is still set to 6, no matter what I've done.
Any ideas?
well if you are using Apex why not just tick "keep in memory" option?
I have, but I still get the redraw problems.

Either your missing a step, ROM not compatible, permissions not set properly etc.
Have you rebooted after patching and wiped dalvik and cache in recovery?
Also, You could try to edit manually, link to zeppelinrox instructions in the OP. This may be a little overwhelming for some though.
Also, try his v6 supercharger script, this may help too. I think this has the option to patch during the setup process (read his thread)

I've tried this about 5 times, so I know I haven't missed a step. Maybe you're right about it not being compatible. I have the Verizon i535 GS3, so maybe there's a difference somewhere.
Thanks for the help though.
Stock Sgs rom
Can the redraw on the stock sgs3 rom be fixed using these same steps
Get Ram Manager from playstore.
Tick "Keep launcher in memory".
Solved the problem for me.
I only get redraws while coming out of games or something. Otherwise no redraw.
Trust me, it works.
That's a scam.
You said it yourself, you get redraws when you come out of a game.... LOL
It's like saying "I never crap until I poop"

Umm..yes..Only if I play games like NOVA or so..
Before that; if I browse for 20-30 mins or even go to playstore for 10-20 mins and hit on Homescreen button; there would be a redraw.
No its not at all.
Sometimes even waking up phone after a long time would cause it.
Now absolutely now. Infact my phone doesn't redraw at all unless I do a very heavy task.
By games I didn't mean Angry Birds.
Give it a try; it really makes things better.
That dev STOLE my OOM grouping fix and calls it lock home in memory.
He used to call it Hard To Kill which was stealing my "brand names" so I had that app pulled off the market until it was changed.
None of it does a single thing for launcher priority.
It's all BS... you get the same thing by lowering your minfrees but that would require you to know what you're doing.
SuperCharge it and then you'll know what's BS and what isn't.
Otherwise, you don't know crap about what is possible.

If that's the case, he's no "dev" then.
Doesn't take much to take someone's hard work and call it their own. Need to give appropriate credit and if need be, ask first.

Well I had no idea that he stole your work. Really sorry for that.
I can only tell from a consumer's POV that it actually works; and it's not a placebo.
Earlier if I browsed a page with lots of Images and go to home screen; it would re load.
Now it doesn't. At all.
I should commend you for it; since it's your work.
But it does work and now I'm not embarrassed to hand my phone for show off.
That relaod was crapping on my showoff
I already have Touchwiz Home OOM priority set to 1 with ARHD 2.1.1.

It moves the launcher down a slot.
That's it.
It still gets killed in the same order as before.
I made the grouping limits more multitasking friendly.
Glad you enjoy getting screwed so much.
Now STFU about it because you still haven't a clue.
The app really is a piece of **** and represents all that is wrong with app development and kanging.

For those of you who may not have taken kindly to Asus' skinning of our beloved Honeycomb OS, you will be happy to know that it's possible to change some aspects of the UI to make it look more "stock". The most notable change that Asus has made, was with the replacement of the stock Honeycomb navigation keys with icons that seem less sleek and frankly, just don't flow with the holographic theme of the OS.
To combat Asus' lack of taste, it's possible, with some hackery, to get the stock navigation icons that you would find on the Motorola Xoom. If you are at all confused of what icons I am speaking of, it's the back, home and multitasking icon located at the bottom left of the screen; they will be changed to look like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
While I do enjoy the custom Asus widgets that were included in the Transformer, I would much rather prefer the navigation buttons native to a stock Honeycomb OS. I am always "pro-vanilla" when it comes to Android because system updates will most likely be pushed out faster to the user if the manufacturer didn't have to waste more time putting in their little touches to the user interface-I digress.
The procedure is simple but it does require you HAVE ROOT! The easiest way, believe it or not, is to use ADB and the command prompt to effectively change the necessary files. You can install ADB from the official Android development site:
http://developer.android.com
For your convenience, I have already made a backup of the file you will be replacing (see the end of the article) such that, if you ever need to revert to the "stock" Asus theme, then you just need to download the file and use the same procedure below.
Lets get started! All credit goes to XDA member JaiaV. I am simply making a how-to & we are not responsible if you brick your device.
1) Download this file if you are on Android 3.0.1:
Modified SystemUI.apk
Download this file if you are on Android 3.1:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2993232/modified/3.1/SystemUI.apk
Prime 1.4
http://db.tt/UI10NAk
Thanks Andrew2511
thanks xformulax
Put this file inside the folder that contains the adb.exe (probably quicker if you just search for it using the native Windows search tool). If you are using the newest version of the developer tools then the folder that contains the ADB.exe should be called "Platform-tools"; put the file in the Platform-tools folder. This way, when you run the ADB command below, the system will know where the file you just downloaded is, which makes everyone's life easier.
2) Enable USB Debugging on your tablet by going into your settings > Applications > Development
3) Plug your Transformer into your Windows machine
4) Launch up your command prompt
5) **REMEMBER, YOU NEED TO HAVE ADB INSTALLED PRIOR TO DOING THIS**
Type in:
Code:
adb devices
you should see your device connected. It should look like this:
6) Once you know your device is connected properly, type in:
Code:
adb remount
7) Next, you just have to type in:
Code:
adb push SystemUI.apk /system/app
8 ) Lastly, to reboot your system quickly, type in:
Code:
adb reboot
If for some reason you would like to go back to stock, its pretty simple. All you have to do is download the file below:
For 3.0.1:
Stock SystemUI.apk
For 3.1:
http://db.tt/eQkoYIk
Then just repeat the procedure above (starting from number 6) and you are all set to go! Just a quick way to make your Asus Transformer look just a bit more awesome!
perhaps this should be in themes...

my mistake, rushed it. fixed
It's pretty easy to do this for yourself for w/e version of the FW you happen to be using. Just adb pull your SystemUI.apk, open it up in your favorite zip/rar application, navigate to the /res/drawable-mdpi folder, and backup the ic_sysbar_home/back/recent/menu images. Should be default/pressed for each. Then move the Xoom/stock images from my SystemUI.apk (made from a deodexed Prime 1.3 SystemUI.apk, thanks to Roach and DC13, I just changed the button images) or a stock Xoom rom into your SystemUI.apk, save. Then push your modded SystemUI.apk into /system/app and you're done.
If you use a rom you can also switch out the modded SystemUI.apk in the zip file you flash, that way if you have to reinstall (or before you install a new image) you don't have to manually move the apk in afterwards. I suggest using the SystemUI.apk that came with the FW version of the rom you're using, as there can be some inconsistencies between a few.
personally i like the icons asus made better, but i don't like that they're white. too bright compared to everything else on the dock.

+1, not to harp on the OP, but the Asus Icons (even the Samsung TouchWiz Icons) are much more visually appealing and intuitive to me.
But that's a personal preference. This guide should be useful to anyone looking to make custom icons.
Yep, this thread shows quite nicely that nothing is right for everyone. Me, if there was one thing about the Transformer's styling I would change, it's the stock Google clock font. To me, it looks like cheap and amateurish, and the styling doesn't really fit or match anything else in the OS (other than perhaps the buttons that Asus changed.)
I hope in a future release, Google makes these things user-styleable. I'd much rather have a different font for the clock, which could make it instantly more readable while saving valuable screen space to boot.
But obviously other people are perfectly happy with it...
I flashed the Xoom ones which worked fine but I didn't like them to pushed the original ASUS ones back, however SystemUI.apk force closes constantly and I have lost the status bar. I'm on 3.1 and used the right files.

make sure you check your permissions.
also, i just skimmed the guide, but i'd probably put a permissions change in the instructions just to ensure everyone has proper permissions on install.
not sure if anyone is interested, but i plan on taking the stock asus and changing just the colors to match honeycomb (versus changing the actual icons)

Please note this is based on the 28.12.11 Final Release. I have tried and tested this myself so I know it works fine.
Firstly if you are not already on the lastest Official 2.3.5 Final then update to it before trying the following.
Rooting the U8800 with SuperOneClick v2.3.3
1) Dial: *#*#2846579#*#*
2) Go to projectmenu > background settings > log settings > log switch > set Log on
3) Reboot Phone
4) Switch USB Debugging ON
5) Download SuperOneClick v2.3.3
6) Plug your U8800 into your computer but DO NOT mount SD Card.
7) Run SuperOneClick and press the ROOT Button, and let it do its thing (say yes to install drivers if asked).
8) Your phone should now be Rooted.
9) You can now go back and turn logging off if you want.
Removing First Set of Bundled Apps (Part 1)
1) Install ES File Explorer or File Expert.
2) Install Remount.
3) Using Remount mount the system/app folder as RW.
4) Navigate to System/App using ES File Explorer or File Expert and remove the following:
--- UpdaterSolution.apk
--- SocialExt.apk
--- Service-MultiSNS.apk
--- GenieWidget.apk
5) That should have removed the Social App, Stock Android Weather App and the Twitter and Facebook Feeds.
Removing Second Set of Bundled Apps (Part 2)
I have edited the stock cust.img file which will remove the following:
- APK Batch Installer
- Documents to Go
- File Manager
- Huawei Keyboard
- Swype
- Notepad
1) Download the modified cust.img - HERE
2) Copy the cust.img to your SD Card from your Computer.
3) Using Remount mount the .cust_backup/image folder as RW.
4) Using ES File Explorer or File Expert move the cust.img from the SD Card to .cust_backup/image and replace existing cust.img (you may have have to enable "Show Hidden Files" in your File Manager.
5) Reboot your phone and the apps above should be removed.
You should now have a much cleaner U8800 with most of the rubbish removed.
If you know of other apps that can be removed from the system/app folder let me know and I will add them to the list above!
Installing ClockworkMod 5.5.0.4 on your U8800
1) On your U8800 go to Settings > Applications > Untick Fast Boot (if ticked)
2) Download Blefish's ClockworkMod from HERE (ClockworkMod v5.5.0.4)
3) Copy the recovery.img from computer to your SD Card.
4) Using Remount mount the .cust_backup/image folder as RW.
5) Using ES File Explorer or File Expert copy the recovery.img from the SD Card to .cust_backup/image (replacing existing)
6) ClockworkMod v5.5.0.4 will now be Installed on your U8800
7) Turn on your U8800 while holding [VOL+] to load ClockworkMod Recovery (keep holding [Power] + [VOL+] until ClockworkMod Loads)
Note: if you have a Synaptics screen you have to use the [VOL] buttons to navigate and [Power] button to select an option.
Missing the Torch that comes with CM7 and MIUI?
I have found a great very simple Torch App in the Market which is also Ad Free.
It uses your LED Flash like the others and works perfect for me: Simple Torch
The App is also Free so will not cost you a penny!
If you know of an alternative let me know.

I have problems with instaling 20111222-cm-7.1.0-u8800-Geno-en via this recovery. Instal zip from SD > choose zip > 20111222-cm-7.1.0-u8800-Geno-en > yes > finding, opening and then the recovery restarts itself. This happens also with ICS demo.
Did I do somenthing wrong?

After rooting, should I turn logging off again?
A small not: I had 1 small "problem": I had to install the drivers from SuperOneClick. Installing the drivers in Windows(7) did not work.
Otherwise this seems to work like a charm!
Thanks for the tutorial !
i follow ur nice instructions for rooting word by word 3 times but no good, after root and restart phone looses (unmount) my sd card ,no superuser and no root.My titanium backup and other root apps not working.
Some questions to clear any of my mis interpretations:
IN the rooting section of your post does Superoneclick run from your PC while android is connected to PC? (is that correct?)
And not mounting the SD card means not; turning on USB connection when prompted in notifications. Is that correct?
Pardon the newbieness questions

Actually If someone create a AOSP 2.3.7 rom for our U8800 wit using 2.6.35 kernel, It should be really great. I will retry the install 2.3.7 and try to make one, but not promises =) I don't have linux on computer so I can't modify the boot, It will be stock kernel.

What about a Linux Live CD? Just an idea
SuperOneClick v2.3.1 doesn't seem to want to work on my Vista 64 bit PC. I've tried running it as administrator.

[SCRIPT] No-lag solution to CM7/9 "low memory" notifications (STEP BY STEP,FIXED TB)
23/01/12 - Now with Titanium Backup support!
The Titanium Backup team is awesome. I contacted them and within 3 days they had a working fix. To make sure that titanium backup works properly all you need to do is download the latest version from the market, go into 'preferences' and select 'follow all symbolic links' in the 'Troubleshooting' section at the bottom. That's it. Now you'll be able to backup normally and then restore your apps in any other rom. Neat!
Click to collapse
Okay, I've found a rather excellent solution to the low storage problem that plagues the CM7 and CM9 roms - without causing the lagginess of the ".nodatadata" approach. It's not my work but was posted by drefnel on the Cyanogenmod forum. It's very smart: instead of moving the whole of /datadata (fast yaffs2) to /data (slower ext4) and so introducing lag it keeps most apps' non-performance critical data on /data and moves performance critical sqlite databases and xml preference files to the fast /datadata.
Installing this fix is a two step process:
Phase 1 - some prep, takes around 10 minutes to complete. Only has to be done once.
Phase 2 - running the script whenever you've installed new apps and used them once or twice. this just involves hitting a shortcut on your home screen. boom!
The original guide can be found here we need to make a few alterations and I've done a step-by-step below:
Step by step guide
I take no responsibility if using these instructions messes up your phone. They worked for me and you should always be able to restore using the clockworkmod backup. But you can't say you haven't been warned.
Make sure you're running CM7 or TeamHacksung's CM9 or Onecosmic ICS.
This will NOT work on encrypted phones.
DO A NANDROID BACKUP BEFORE YOU BEGIN.
Phase 1 - (if you've already used the ".nodatadata" method then start at step 4)
1. Download Terminal Emulator
2. Open terminal emulator and then enter each of the following followed by return:
su
touch /datadata/.nodatadata
3. Reboot (this might take a while as the OS will be making changes to your filesystem).
4. Open terminal emulator and then enter each of the following followed by return:
su
rm /data/data/.nodatadata
5. Reboot into recovery, go to "mounts & storage" and then select "format datadata". Reboot normally.
6. Go to the market and download GScript Lite. Open it and close it again - this should create a folder called "gscript" in your sdcard. Unzip the file attached in this post and place the script in it in that folder.
7. Open up GScript Lite, press menu and add script. Click load file, select the script file, make sure that "needs SU" is selected and click save.
8. Run the script by tapping it. You should see GScript report its progress and finally the script should finish. Press close and gscript will crash out (can't have it all ).
Phase 2
Add a shortcut to this script on your desktop.
CM7 - long-press and hold a blank area of your home screen, select 'add shortcut', and then select 'gscript lite'. select the script you've just added.
CM9 - go into your app drawer, select the 'widgets' tab, find 'gscript lite', press and hold it and move it onto your home screen. select the script you've just added.
You should use the shortcut after you've installed new apps and used them a few times. There's no harm in not using the script for a while, all that will happen is that app may become a bit laggy until you use the script to move its data to /datadata.
That's it. Congratualtions!
You can flash new CM roms and the script will carry on working fine, but if you wipe data in recovery then you'll have to start from the beginning
You won't be able to easily go back to the original configuration or use the ".nodatadata" method (you'll need to Titanium Backup, wipe everything and then restore), but you'll never miss them.
Good luck
I hope this helps people out. We should find a way of better automating the steps to make it more noob friendly and maybe Team Hacksung and One Cosmic could incorporate it into their ROMs. (Essentially the script needs to be run periodically to make sure that the performance critical /data/data elements of new apps are copied across to /datadata - apart from that it's not too different from the ".nodatadata" approach).
Personally using the much simpler .nodatadata approach, i found that after a rom (cm9) install, most lag goes away after using it for a few hours, although I have heard the speed of the flash memory is not equal on all devices... so could be laggy for some regardles of usage.
Yup I've tried both and the script approach is definitely much quicker in my case. I'm going to see if I can simplify this procedure somewhat.
Sorry for being a noob.. I am not sure how to apply the script to my Android device... Should I use Terminal Emulator on my Galaxy S and type the script in there? Would you mind to guide me through the process? Thanks a lot
Now with a step-by-step guide.
Man you are awesome! Thanks for your guide!
Wouldn't it be an idea tu use scriptmanager (free or pro) instead of gscript? it can run scripts on boot.
Maybe later, when the standard kernel for cm9 will support init.d, it can be an init.d script?
And oh, I will put a link to this thread in the wiki, you can edit the wiki yourself also if you ask for acces.
seem like there is no one try on OneCosmic, and im going it a shot!
will report later~

Good points. The reason I chose GScript was its user friendliness and simplicity. There are define advantages in running this script at boot. (I'd much prefer to have things run automatically before the GUI appears (as in init.d) rather than clog up GUI boottime as Script Manager would require.)
The phenomenal uptime I get with Android means that I don't reboot very often. Ideally we'd want something that monitored the data/data folder and ran the script on the appearance of new folders. I'm not sure how you'd automate that without resorting to Tasker. Maybe init.d is the best we can do when it's supported. In the meantime a GScript shortcut on the desktop that I hit once every couple of days feels like the best option so far!

but i want the original picture gallery from the 4.0.3... any help?
There are more advantages in scriptmanager. You are not bound to a specific location on the scared for example, with gscript it has to be in /sdcsrd/gscript folder. And you can make a widget with this script in it, making it a one-click operation but I believe that is a paid feature (and gscript can do something similar, no?)
On the other hand, it is as you say, a bit more complicated.
Also making it a init.d isn't a full solution. Every update from the ROM will wipe the /system/etc/init.d so the script needs to be reinstalled.
Maybe a cwm-flashable would be needed than, everybody here can flash. In that case also the initial commands could be run during flashing.

Yup, a flashable zip which runs initial commands and then appends on an init.d script seems like the way to go. Once the CM9 kernel supports I'll learn how to make these (essentially lazy, me)
BTW, making a one click operation from GScript is easy. Just add the GScript shortcut to your home screen and it will prompt you which script you want to run on click (remember that shortcuts are now grouped with widgets in ICS)

What you will need:
To be on Lollipop WITH root (go here if you need to flash the rooted ROM)
BusyBox to be installed (it should already be installed on the rooted ROM, if not then search the Play Store or use your favorite one)
A copy of Viper4Android v2.3.4.0 (Download from here)
A file browser that can access the /system partition and change permissions (I prefer ES File Explorer but you can use whatever you like)
Titanium Backup (or you can use the application manager in the Settings app)
Firstly, what you will need to do is use your file browser and create a folder called "Viper4Android" in your /system/priv-app/ folder. Set the permission for this folder to rwxr-xr-x or 0755, then paste your Viper4Android APK into the folder you created and set the permission for the APK to rwxrwxrwx or 0777, with root being owner and group for both folder and APK.
Secondly, what you will need to do is browse to /system/etc/ with your file browser and open the file init.qcom.post_boot.sh and at the very bottom of the file paste this:
Code:
/system/xbin/supolicy --live "allow mediaserver mediaserver_tmpfs:file { read write execute };"
It is imperative that you make sure you are using Unix line endings instead of anything else.
Thirdly, use Titanium Backup or the Application Manager to freeze SoundAlive, as all music apps will attempt to default to it. Also you may want to freeze the Adapt Sound app, as if you enable it will then be used over V4A.
Lastly, reboot your phone and then install the drivers and reboot one last time. I can confirm that it works on Play Music, and that it doesn't work on the stock Music player (however I believe there is a way to get it to work somewhere on the internet).

Then you may want to wait until a recovery flashable zip is made, but at no point are the steps going to brick your phone, you can just boot to Safestrap or flash back.
Notes:
This process can probably be done very easily with a init.d script and a recovery flashable zip, but I currently don't have the time and don't want to risk screwing up someone's phone.
You can use any other Viper4Android mod, as long as it is v2.3.4.0, I prefer this version which looks very nice. You can extract the file from the zip attachment and just follow the steps here.
You do not need to have SELinux set to permissive, as even with using MultiSystem to set it to permissive, it still didn't work until the above command is used.
I haven't tested whether effects like convolver or DDC work, but they should.
Thanks to:
@ihancioglu for the code that allows it to work
@nappent for most of the steps needed to get it running
EXTRA:
Here is an init.d script that will do the bypass for you, however, you must have init.d support. As it stands right now, Walter.White's Lollipop ROM does not have init.d, if you want to enable init.d, you have to add
Code:

I use NuPlayer, but to be honest I haven't seen or heard of any difference. Some guides say that disabling NuPlayer will allow V4A to work, but V4A has worked just perfectly fine with NuPlayer enabled.
Among other things, creating a recovery flashable zip has fallen through. I have come across a problem where I can't modify init.qcom.post_boot.sh from a recovery, be it SafeStrap or FlashFire. I have also discovered something else, init.d support was supposed to be included with Walter.White's Lollipop ROM, but his script encountered the same problem as me, it couldn't append to init.qcom.post_boot.sh. So right now anyone using his ROM does not have init.d setup, luckily, it can be very easily enabled. All you have to do is add
Code:
/system/etc/init.d/*
to the end of init.qcom.post_boot.sh and create an init.d folder in /system/etc and you are good to go. I have attached an init.d script to the main post that can make use of init.d and do the bypass.

Looks like it is only required when setting SELinux to permissive; which doesn't appear to be required. You literally saved me from going back to 4.4.2, just for V4A btw:good:

I originally stayed off of Lollipop for a month because I couldn't get V4A to work, but I tried to find a solution after people got it working on the Galaxy S6.
I made this guide because using MultiSystem to set SELinux to permissive did not fix the issue. It was like the policies for SELinux were still being enforced. Also, I made a mistake for the init.d code, it should be
Code:
/system/etc/init.d/*
. Currently stock rooted Lollipop is ok, with Xposed now working and Wanam just recently updated you can make stock usable now.

As ive been reading about this very much lately, after people have flashed Marshmallow and rooted, many are having issues editing their build.prop files. And many arent having any issues at all. Well, the fix is rather easy. You are going to have to change your SElinux to be permissive. Many that arent having the issue is because they are either using a custom kernel that has set SElinux to be permissive, or are using an app to change it. I use an app, dir viper4, because it needs to gave SElinux at permissive. There arent any apps that do it in the play store, because google removed them. But.. theres a site called xda that somebody is posting their SElinux changer app in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2524485

probably does, but an app that does it would be easier, for most. but you are right
Why did Google remove the apps that allow you to do this?

Just assuming . . . Google dev's have managers that puts them under pressure. . . Why. . .
1. Deals with telecom providers; demanding special factory images. Project Fi.
2. Ignoring many user requests; forcing encryption and forcing to use apps with text on white background.
3. Dark material removed since M-preview 3.
4. Use of RRO layers needs root access.
5. Deals with banks for Android Pay; not working when rooted.
6. Bloat. Built-in apps that should be in the play store.
7. Privacy. Services that can't be blocked.
8. Boot message device corrupt when it isn't.
This 6.0 update is a much bigger pain in the ass then it needs to be. Especially for Nexus devices which are suppose to be "mod" friendly. What gives Google?
First thing that comes to mind, is that you shouldn't EVER BE editing /system/build.prop. Its purpose is that it is generated by the build, hence "build".prop. If you need custom properties added to the system, use /data/local.prop.
Second thing is that most of the problems with system partition edits are NOT due to selinux problems. Most are because the factory sysimage bloats it absolutely FULL of crap. Delete some junk like google photos (which is a bloated pig).
Third, there is *absolutely no* reason to disable selinux. Just switch your context to one that matches the files you are trying to interact with. The su command has a parameter "--context" that lets you do this. Look it up.

There are many logical reasons, however.
1)ProjectFi actually NEEDS special factory images
2)Security
3)It was unstable and needs more work (they are improving it for future releases)
4)I'm actually not sure about this one... I agree with you
5)Security
6)They've remove most apps like PinyinIME and HindiIME from the system with 6.0
7)Security
8)Security

if i make any changes to build.prop at reboot my phone just sits at the Google screen. Even after setting SElinux to be permissive.
Any other solutions???
I'm running MRA58k rooted with supersu v2.50

What kind of changes did you make? Did you do a backup of the build.prop file before the changes?

yes, I made a backup. so i'm up and running.
all i tried to add was:
net.tethering.noprovisioning=true
i added it at the very bottom. i've done it before on lollipop and it worked before i'm not sure why it's not working now tho.

if you make any spelling errors or gramatical errors, or miss any spaces, your phone wont ever boot up.

does it need an extra space at the end of the file? i think i might have removed that.

i use root explorer to edit my build.prop btw. what ill do is just copy/paste the line in, save it, then reboot. and it always is fine(unless i write it myself and mess it up).

Great advice on local.prop. Did not know this before. Read up on it and sounds more useful especially when applying edits you dont want to re-enter after each flash.
(Take all this with caution) Good to note for others that local.prop is read after build.prop in boot up (hope i got that right), so you can use the same lines in build.prop in local.prop with changes in the values. Those values in local.prop will override those in build.prop! *except if the same line in build.prop begins with ro. "read only". **apparently the addition of qemu. in place of ro. in local.prop will override the build.prop line setting that had ro. at the beginning. Now does anyone know what qemu is exactly? Emulator? For hardware?

qemu is the virtual machine infrastructure used for the android emulator. It is far more generic than for just the android emulator, but android does use it. The prefixes used imply a priority, and qemu (because of its association with the emulator for testing) is considered as for testing and development purposes, so it can, as you say, override.

I am sorry if this is a stupid question but when you say data/local.prop-do you mean root/data/ or just data/ in internal memory?
and if I create local.prop and add the line qemu.hw.mainkeys=1 in local.prop would that be able to hide the navigation bar even if the I don't touch build.prop?
