Hi,
I'm dual booting Mango and Android in my HD2.
Initially, everything was fine. i can boot into mango or android as i wish. after 1 day exploring mango, i realized that the empty space of the storage card returned to 8GB. FYI, i partitioned the SD card into 2 partitions of 4GB each.
then went into MAGDLR to boot Android...it says loading image fail...my android partition is gone!
anyone facing this issue? i'm thinking maybe mango has something to do with it...
any thoughts?

remember this is green mango and is buggy!
It probably did a hard software reset and wiped the sd card while you weren't looking.

You Jinxed me!!!! I read your post this afternoon I said to myself "Pfff...Sucks for U, glad I'm still on NODO!" and then an hour ago while listening to Last.fm my phone crashed and rebooted. I didn't think anything of it because it does this every time once in a while. I stuck it back in my holster while waiting for it to be ready to use again. When I took it back out of my holster and turned it on it had the "getting started menu" was on the first page! Nooooo!!!!!! I got Jinxed!!!!!!!!
Well, I was planning to upgrade to Mango shortly anyways and I have a backup of my android on my desktop, which I just I did 2 days ago, thank god!!! So not too bad though my desktop usb hubs is really wonky and unreliable at times so that will be my only headache. So to answer your question, it's not just a Mango problem. It can happen on Nodo, too!
is this a mango problem? i've been dual booting ever since wp7 was available and haven't had any mishaps. gotta backup more often, but aren't we always using new versions of android anyways?

How did you get Mango dual booting in the first place. I have not had the time to devote to figuring out how to work with the way Mango formats the SD card, in the past I have been running dual boot on 7004 and NoDo so I know how to do it. However, as of Mango it formats the entire card as two "Other" partitions, since the 200MB section is not FAT16 I have not been able to modify it using the usual steps and I cannot get Windows to recognize the new FAT32 partition since it is not the first partition on the disk. I am going to try and copy a partition from another SD card and see if that works but if there is another way to do it I would like to know.

Guys, the dual booting method is the same for all WP7 builds. I'm using the one user elfinlazz cooked (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1157535) and i loaded it the same way as i did when i was using xbmod's build.
spike, you are right in that when WP7 formats your sd card, it doesn't make a FAT16 partition. I use minitool partition manager for the whole process and it makes one 200MB "other" partition, and the rest of the space as a second "other" partition. what you do is this:
1) Delete the bigger "other"(red) partition and click apply. it should be "unallocated" (gray)
2) Click create make it "unformatted"(dark green), leave as logical, and make sure that "partition size" is BIGGER than "unallocated space before" (I would make it AT LEAST a 1gb difference. I've had issues where if you try to make them equal sizes, windows would format the whole card again)
NOTE: make sure the partitions read in THIS EXACT ORDER:
200MB "other" partition
smaller "unallocated" partition
bigger "unformatted" partition
click apply and it may take a while. once it's done, put it in the phone and boot into WP7
3) you should go through the setting up phone process. once you get to the home screen, go to settings, about phone, and check the available storage. it SHOULD be the size of the bigger "unformatted" partition (give or take a couple mb for the os files). if all is well, hit "reset your phone", when it asks are you sure, hit yes, and your phone will reboot. MAKE SURE YOU BOOT INTO MAGLDR.
4) once in magldr, put the sd back in the computer and open minitool
5) you can now delete the 200MB "other" partition and it will merge with the smaller "unallocated" partition. from there, click create, make it FAT32, make it primary, and make the cluster size 32kb. click apply and let it work.
6) you should now have 2 partitions, a FAT32 and an "other" partition. the "other" partition should be bigger. right click on the "other" partition, go to "modify" and click set as primary. both partition should be set as primary or android will not see your SD storage.
7) if that's good, copy your android build to the sd card and before booting into android, i would boot into WP7 again, set up your phone again, and check the available storage. should be the same as the first time you booted wp7. if not, then you'll have to do the process all over again, and i would make the WP7 partition bigger than you did.
I am using dual boot too, no issues here. Works as good as it always has

I think you can not dual boot with half and half size. Give WP7 greater space than Android as not to confuse WP7. I read that somewhere.

You can use 2 different separate cards, one for each build. It's a pain to update WP7 and then go over the partitioning mess again.
The only annoyance may be the removing and the reinserting of cards. That does not bother me.
Once WP7 Mango is set up and running, it does not erase a new card you would insert by accident. WP7 asks you to turn off the phone and get the right card. It is best to setup MAGLDR to boot android automatically...
I had that same problem but that was with a 7004 build. It happened a day after I flashed radio 2.15 to 2.12 to test for better battery performance.

Received my first HTC through the post yesterday and joined the site in an attempt to run android. I know nothing and there's an overwhelming amount of information on this site so just need someone to point me in the right direction.

My problem is after running clrcad.exe and haret.exe, the phone reset after a grey screen. Looked like it went well but now the SD card has disappeared from the file explorer and windows when connected through USB.
Any help appreciated, just want to get the SD card back up so I can format it and so on. Thanks.
I take it by the lack of replies that this isn't a common problem. It's kind of put me off trying any new ROM's as a simple procedure like this can't even go straight. Will have to stick with Winmo then
Im not quite sure anymore, but i dont think you are able to mount your sd as long as you use sd builds. I dont know if this is changing with an ext partition on your sd.
Just check out the NAND section. Its installed on your internal memory and not running from sd. WinMob will be fully deleted and replaced with Android, so first do a backup of contacts etc!!!
If you do not need WinMob for any kind of apps for work etc which arent ported to Android yet (which i dont think there are much NAND is the best solution for you.
Started like you with sd build 2years ago, too. But switched to NAND as soon as it was stable.
Now it is almost perfect.

How did you get the card to show again? Or did you buy a new one?
Just a thought,have you tried a soft reset? Switch phone off Take back cover of and press little red button for a few seconds,put cover back on reboot into android
Also make sure your SD card is formatted to 32kb (slow format)

You really should download the HD2 NAND Toolkit. You can use the toolkit to flash HSPL, MAGLDR, or clk to your HD2. It has all of these included in the download for the Toolkit. You can also use it to flash an .nbh file to your HD2. This means you can flash Splashscreens and Windows Mobile ROMs with the Toolkit also.
Go to this thread to learn how to dual boot Windows Phone 7.5 and Android. But just so you know Android can only be run from SD card when you have WP 7.5 installed in NAND. You can not however dual boot Android from NAND and WP 7.5from SD card as WP uses your SD card as internal memory.
Last of all for your on good please read the guide in my signature so you can hopefully educate yourself about exactly what the MAGLDR is and what it's function is. Plus it is a load more of info I think would very much help you to read.

The first thread you linked is a tool used to install Android to NAND widget means Android boots from internal memory. So unless you want to just use Android on your HD2 this is not the guide for you right now.
The second thread you linked is to a SD card buildvthat uses Super RAM which means that part of the main Android system boots into RAM on start up widget makes the build run faster. If this is what you want to use for your Android you just need to download it and extract the contents of the .zip file to the root of your SD card and then either use the file explorer to touch on CLRCAD and then HARET, or you can install a dual boot app for Windows Mobile that you can use to boot your Android from SD card.
I just want to correct a very very wrong statement, WP7.5 is very well supported. The HD2 is often better supported by the dev community than official WP devices, infact the HD2 got Tango before any other WP phone. Also with WP7.5 on NAND you can dual boot so you can have Android and WP7.5, you can't do that the other way around. I would suggest dual booting HD2Owners ROM found HERE along with AmericanAndroid on the SD found HERE. These two are both realy stable and well supported.

Ok let me see if I can walk you through this some. First download the 02.04.12 HD2O© ROM, the AmeriCanAndroid AOSP HD2 SD card build, the Leo_RADIO_2.15.50.14, the EASEUS ALL-IN-ONE Partition Manager Software mentioned in the guide I linked, and if you do not already have it download the HD2 NAND Toolkit. You will also need to download and install Active Sync or Windows Mobile Device Center (these programs have the USB drivers you will need) depending on what version of Windows you have, you will just have to google for a download as I do not know what version of windows you have, I suggest you put both the WP7 ROM, the Android SD card build, and the 2.15.50.14 Radio in a folder that you can easily remember were they are on your computer. Also go ahead and install both the HD2 Toolkit and the partitioning software on your computer.
Now to make sure you do not have any problems with your SD card I recommend you do a full re-format of your SD card. You will need a USB card reader and a Micro SD card adapter.I linked them just so you will have a visual reference of what you need, but those are the ones I have and they work great. Aslo if your computer has a card reader you like mine does you just need a Micro SD card adapter. Now back to re-formatting your SD card.
Place your SD card in the Micro SD card adapter, then place the Micro SD card adapter in the USB card reader (or the USB card reader on your computer), and then plug the USB card reader into one of the USB ports on your computer. Let your computer install the drivers and go to the windows start menu and click on Computer or My computer depending on which version of Windows you are using. You should see the SD card as a removable drive. Right click the drive and select copy and then create a folder to paste the data that is on the SD card already so you will have a backup. Now right click on the drive again and select format, when the format window pops up make sure to uncheck the the box beside Quick Format and also make sure it says FAT32 under File System. Click Start and then click Ok on the warning window that pops up. Then set back and relax until the card is done being formatted.
Now you need to make sure you have at least 50% or more battery, but I suggest you have a full charge before you start just to be safe. Once you have the proper battery level you need to boot your HD2 into the bootloader by holding the volume down button down while you power on your HD2. When you see the multicolor boot connect it via USB and wait until you see the Serial in the white bar of the bootloader change to USB. Now open the folder with the 2.15.50.14 Radio in it and extract the files from the .rar file, you will need Win RAR to do this. Once you have the files extracted click on the CustomRUU.exe file and follow all of the on screen instructions. Once the RUU is done you will have the 2.15.50.14 Radio installed on your HD2.
Next you need to boot your HD2 back into the bootloader and connect it to your computer via USB again. Open the HD2NAND Toolkit and click on the Install HSPL button under Main Tools. Follow the on screen instructions and when it is done you will have HSPL 2.08 installed on your HD2. Now go back to the HD2 NAND Toolkit and click on the Insatall MAGLDR button under Main Tools. Follow the on screen instructions and when it is done you will have MAGLDR 1.13 installed on your HD2.
Now that you have MAGLDR installed on your HD2 it should only boot up to the MAGLDR 1.13 main menu. Go to option number 5 USB Flasher and then find the HD2O ROM file you downloaded and extract the files drom it. Once the files are extracted click on the DWI.exe and follow the on screen commands. When it is done you will have Windows Phone 7 on your HD2.
Now you need to follow the part of the guide you linked that I have quoted below. I left the link to the video of the method that I have quoted so watch it as it is a very good video. Oh and in case you do not notice it in the video, you need to hold down the power button while your HD2 is booting to boot to the MAGLDR main menu. And the video will show you how to get the Android build to boot on your HD2.

IMPORTANT When using this method make sure that the wp7 "unformatted partition" is larger than the Android partition otherwise the wp7 "unformatted partition" will move in 2nd place and you will not be able to resize the fat 16 / android partition.
5. Sit back and take a break.

6. You now have a green fat16 partition to the left, some unallocated grey portion in the middle and your WP7 partition in modern turqoise colour on the far right. Agreed? Now remove the sd card from PC and insert in HD2.
7. After you have inserted the sd card, let it boot into WP7. Remember what your last action was when you were still in WP7? Yes, you pressed reset, so the device actually thinks he is still resetting the device. He might do it too, but just go through the setup wizard again.
8. Go to about screen and verify your storage. Don't look strange if when the storage has a different of about 1Gb, this is swallowed by WP7 for system stuff etc. Are you happy with the progress so far? Then power down your device and remove the sd card. Allow the HD2 to fully powered down as sometimes the screen is pitch black, but the device is still turning off.
9. Insert the sd card in pc and, using EASUS right click on the green fat 16 partition and select resize/move. Now fill up the rest of the unallocated space and hit apply. This is your android partition.
10. Format the sd android partition (not the whole sd card!) using EASUS to FAT32 using 32 or 64 kb cluster size and put an android build onto it and test.
11. IMPORTANT You need to convert the wp7 unformatted partition to primary for the sd android to see the sd card Use minitool partition wizard to do this. Right click on your WP7 unformatted partition and select modify and then click on set as primary and hit apply. Hope this is detailed enough for you.
T-Macgnolia did a great job with the walk-through the only thing I would suggest is that you can save yourself a LOT of headache if after you get the HD20 ROM installed use CAB Sender and send one of the partition updates from xboxmod to your phone. This will let you skip all the hard partitioning stuff. The CAB's with various partition sizes can be found HERE. After you send the CAB you will have to go to 'Settings' -> 'about' -> 'reset your phone' -> 'yes' -> 'yes'
From that point on you can finish with installing Android onto the SD card.

7. After you have inserted the sd card, let it boot into WP7. Remember what your last action was when you were still in WP7? Yes, you pressed reset, so the device actually thinks he is still resetting the device. He might do it too, but just go through the setup wizard again.
8. Go to about screen and verify your storage. Don't look strange if when the storage has a different of about 1Gb, this is swallowed by WP7 for system stuff etc. Are you happy with the progress so far? Then power down your device and remove the sd card. Allow the HD2 to fully powered down as sometimes the screen is pitch black, but the device is still turning off.
9. Insert the sd card in pc and, using EASUS right click on the green fat 16 partition and select resize/move. Now fill up the rest of the unallocated space and hit apply. This is your android partition.
10. Format the sd android partition (not the whole sd card!) using EASUS to FAT32 using 32 or 64 kb cluster size and put an android build onto it and test.
11. IMPORTANT You need to convert the wp7 unformatted partition to primary for the sd android to see the sd card Use minitool partition wizard to do this. Well to be very honest to you I have only flashed four WP7 ROMs to my HD2. So my knowledge of the ends and outs of WP7 on the HD2 is somewhat limited. I do remember reading something about Cab Sender. I think you have your HD2 booted into the WP7 ROM and your HD2 connected via USB to your computer to I se the Cab Sender to transfer cab files to your HD2 and install them also. Maybe XDA Seior Member voluptuary can spread some more light on it for you. But if I remember correctly if what voluptuary is telling to do takes out Step 1 to 11 of the guide I qouted and everything in the video up to here he puts te Android build on the SD card as I think it will. Then I say it sounds like you may want to check it out I am willing to bet it is not complicated to figure out.
Now just on a side note, I do still say it would be a very good idea to still do it te other way even if you try the Cab Sender. It is always a very good idea of how to manually do things. This way you understand a little bit better what you are doing to your device. And remember knowledge is power.

IMPORTANT When using this method make sure that the wp7 "unformatted partition" is larger than the Android partition otherwise the wp7 "unformatted partition" will move in 2nd place and you will not be able to resize the fat 16 / android partition.

All you would have to do is after you install the HD20 WP7 ROM send one of the partition CAB's I linked to earlier, so say you want a 2GB partition for Android you would send "DEV_EXTRAPART_2G.cab" with CAB Sender and then do a full reset from within WP7. Then let WP7 reboot and you should be all set to power down the phone take the SD card out and copy the 'Android' folder over to the SD card that you would have taken out of the ZIP from the AmericanAndroid thread. You have to be sure to follow the few instuctions in the AmericanAndroid ZIP readme to get it to boot via MAGLDR.
Then to point MAGLDR to the right place to boot Android you need to, while powering the phone on with the loaded up SD card, press and hold the power button to get into the MAGLDR menu then go to '10. Services' -> '1. BootSettings' -> '3. AD SD Dir' and then select the 'Android' folder you just copied over to your SD card.

Well to get a Windows live account you just have to go to live.com and creat a account or just creat one when you go through the set up when you first boot WP7.
But I think what you are asking is how to get live services working. To do this you will have to contact Microsoft. Check out this thread for more details on it. I got my code over live chat on m computer, I told them it was a HTC HD7.

its microsft Us support number and its toll free so you can call it on skype for free (from anywehre in world) say you have a technical problem and its user related.
then it will connect you to an operator
he/she will ask for your problem, just say u have a HTC HD7 phone and it wants a 25 digit activation code from u.
Then he/she will ask for your phone number, ur operator, ur email, and your name (don't worry they r not gonna spy on u, they just want it for registration, believe me I know ;-P )
then u have to be on hold for 5-10 mins and he/she will read u the activation code
BUT: if you have a poor connection or bad English language skills then the chat method is far better
PS: my opinion as an ORD? it doesn't worth the hassle. I remember after lots of hours spending online and finding the best rom and the best way to change to WP7 and finally activating it... I couldn't make it through the first day on WP7 (even thou I had SD android, the wake up bug really bugged me). then I just flashed to an ICS rom and then it was happily ever after

nope, not at all, well it's not like a quadcore phone but it is pretty well for ours, still far better than wp7 though ↖(^▽^)↗
and for the rom if ur looking for beauty and performance together the ics miui.us by smokin is awesome, but if ur looking for stock looks of ics and ofc performance then nexushd or aokp are cool too ㄟ(≧◇≦)ㄏ

I have a HD2 and wanted to dual boot WP7 and Android. Found this new method NativeSD and decided to try it. But once I installed the ROM (through MAGLDR 1.13 and Recovery 4Ext 2.2.7), everything works fine, except that the camera app (and other apps) says that it cannot find the external SD card to save the pictures. It does not give me options to save on phone. But since both system and data are on external SD, and that partition is treated as /mnt/sdcard0, I am not sure if I am supposed to have an external SD card from the perspective of Android.
Cannot seem to find similar post with this issue, so I must be doing something wrong with partitioning. Could you help??? Thanks so much! I am inches away from having a great Android JellyBean experience on my HD2.

Details:
4 partitions on my 16GB SD card:
1) FAT32, 3GB (this is the boot partition, where I installed Recovery 4Ext and through it, installed the boot files in /NativeSD)
2) Ext4, 8GB (this is the system/data partition, where installation put all Android files)
3) Ext4, 2GB (this is current empty, reserved for another ROM that requires two partitions)
4) Other, 2GB (this is a WP7 partition)
I formatted these using Mini Partition Tool on Windows (not via Recovery 4Ext)
I think you need to run CHKDSK on your FAT32 partition of the card with fix option, once, using a card reader and computer. Once done, put the card back to your phone and boot to your preferred Native SD rom. Then check whether you applications are able to trace the SD card. Should work, since the same worked for me, when I had a similar issue. Hope that helps.

1) should Android JB think that I have an external SD?
2) where will this external SD be mapped to? The Fat32 partition? The same Ext4 partition as system & data?
3) what would chkdsk do? I just want to make sure that it doesn't mess up the Win 7 stuff as well.

Thanks for your reply. Upon multiple trial and error, I found out that the logical partition is the culprit. When I have 3 primary (FAT32, Ext4, Ext4), Android can recognize the ext SD card. However, when I have 3 primary and 1 logical (the Win Phone 7 partition is made logical by windows), then Android does not recognize the ext SD card anymore.
Any thought on how I can resolve this? Or else I will have to keep 2 SD cards, one for WP7, and one for Android. Doable, but a bit of a hassle.

you could use two cards, i am at the moment (I keep spare card in a cellotape pocket on inside of battery cover). You can also dual boot without partitioning see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34009754&postcount=1126 but only really as a backup phone in case wp7 goes wrong and you are away from pc.

Thanks Robbie. Yes, I have set the WP7 partition as primary and then it works! I am liking the Android experience (have been using iPhone).
Btw, in WP7, it is asking me to update software (I have a very old WP7 installation, migrated to dual boot in early 2011 i think). Can I just upgrade WP7 like normal (i.e. by connecting to Zune)? Or will that destroy MAGLDR? If that won't work, how can I upgrade WP7 to 7.5 or later 7.8? I cannot use Windows Market Place apparently with the old WP7 OS.

I would just flash one of the new wp7.8 roms, your choice which. Ansar's does not seem to be able to use the new wpbackup app at the moment.
With Hd2o and pdaimatejam you can backup your phone and restore apps sms calls etc. Sooo much better for trying out new roms.

I am looking for some advice with regard to a speciifc problem I have with my HD2 which is running Android from SD using haret.exe etc to start the system from within Windows Mobile 6.5. The android files are currently held on a 8GB sandisk card. I have prefered this method of using android basically because I find it useful to remove the SD card and create a backup of the files onto my PC, which gives me peace of mind before installing new tryout software, just incase something goes wrong, I know I have the option to go back to a working system very quickly by reloading the files back to the SD card from the PC backup.
Recently I have been thinking that it might be easier if I could backup the files using the phone directly, so I decided to buy a 16GB card in order to partition it into two virtual 8GB drives and load my existing android os files onto one partition, whilst using the second partition to save a backup of android. I thought I should be able to create a backup of android from within WM6.5 instead of having to remove the card and rely on a PC all the time to do this job.
So, using MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition, I formatted and partitioned the new 16GB SD card, I used FAT32 for each partition and proceeded to copy my android files to the first partition of the new card. I installed the card into my HD2 and started the phone up which booted into WM6.5
From within WM6.5, I used the file explorer and could see both partitions appearing as separate SD cards, the first containing all my android os files etc, and the second partition was empty of course. Just as a test I thought I would try a copy and paste of a couple of files from the android partition to the empty partition, and this worked just fine. I thought to myself I am onto a winner here : ) Read on....
With that I decided to boot into android by clicking on haret.exe.
The system started to boot as normal and everything appeared to be going very very well. Booting completed and the system was ready to use..... Then I thought I would have a look around and see if it was running ok. OH DEAR.... It was reporting that it couldn't find the SD card, even though it had booted from it ! All my files and folders inaccessible and any programs that had been moved to SD card wouldn't start up or were missing from the list of installed apps. I still cant understand why the system has booted from an SD card that it cannot find once the system has booted......
This whole excercise was basically motivated by the need to be able to backup and restore the system from one partition to the other without the constant need to remove the SD card and do the job from a PC. (Constant removal of the SD card is starting to bother me incase I end up wearing the card slot out)
So basically my question is can this be done using my existing android install? (I wouldn't want to start again and install from scratch because the system is highly customised, and has took me a long time to get where it is now) I want to be able to have two partitions on my SD card, one which boots, runs android and holds all my files associated with android, and a second parition which I can use to create and restore a backup from within WM6.5.
This is not a desperate requirement, but I feel it would be a lot better than needing to rely on having my PC to hand all the time. This idea has come from my longstanding history of creating backups using GHOST and similar applications in Windows XP. I would like to do the same with my phone. Obviously I would still periodically make a backup to the PC for safekeeping but it would be more convenient to do it with the phone itself.
Any advice on where I am going wrong would be very useful. Also if you can suggest any other ways of making a strong reliable backup that makes an image of 'EVERYTHING' as is from within android directly, please let me know. I have had a look at Titanium backup, but not sure if it would make a mirror image of 'EVERYTHING' the way I would like to do it (like Ghost does in windows). Android looks at storage (and cards and file systems) differently. Assuming you created the partitions okay, you would have to use the Linux mount command (sorry, more reading).
A simpler way to accomplish your goal would be to have everything in one partition on the card. Create a folder and call it "Backup_Folder" or some other name meaningful to you. You will be able to copy/paste in Windows or Android.
Having said that you might want to read more about NAND installations when you have time. It would likely run better and give you more choices. Although a learning curve, once mastered it is as simple and safe as what you are now doing.
