Is this type of lag normal?

Hej.
I recently picked up an HTC Magic, and had a quick question about multitasking. Prior to this phone I had a Nokia E71, and could run Opera, Music Player, and SMS with little to no lag in between.
On the Magic, I rarely can listen to music and web browse without the music stuttering. Even if i attempt to send an sms, the music playback may drop.
Is this normal?
I am running the ION Rom, and have no widgets running, plus no third party apps. I would think that this android OS would be better equipped than this.

Umm. I do not have this problem and I multi-task ALOT!
To fix this, I would recommend using "Advanced Task Manager Lite" from the App Store. It can help you close applications that you do not want running in the background.
To NOT close apps like music while you are browsing..just open up the app after opening up like the Music application..tap on the application in the list shown..and click on "exclude"...do that for other apps like gmail and stuff too..so that they can easily run in the background..
Once you are done doing this..click on "end all"..all the unnecessary apps running in the background will be GONE !
I think this will help get more out of your phone..

Movies not starting from where i stopped watching!!

Sorry to compare with the iphone again, but with the iphone, any movies that i am watching and leave half way start again at the place where i stopped watching.
with the hd2, they start again from the beginning. is there a way of setting it so they start from where i left it?
I'm using the stock rom so not using any third party software at the moment.
any suggestions or tips would be greatly used

First of all, did you close teh player on the HD2 when you paused?
Because I thought iPhone does not close the player at all when you hit the home button, that is why iPhone continue your last watch movie?

Seems to work perfectly fine on my HD2 using coreplayer.
I can pause and go do something else and when I go back coreplayer is waiting
to continue playing where I was.
This also works when I actually close down the application too, re-open it and the film/tv show I was watching is waiting to be continued where I left off.

Iv just been using windows media player on the HD2 and it will only start where i left it if i pause the player and not close it via task manager.
It sounds like coreplayer is the way to go.

[Q] Browser tab multitasking

Is there anyway to real-multitask in browser, eg. put nice song palying on youtube, change tab and still hear the song instead of pausing it! EVEN MY SYMBIAN PHONE DID THIS same for downloads!
I searched whole web but found nothing, cmon it can't be that hard??

I don't think this is possible, or they have to change youtube so you can hear it while your on another tab. but you can hear the music on the music player while browsing

Why would you play music from youtube of all the places? And in the background...on a phone? Theres just to many good options for doing that

Hey guys!! I didn't see any discussion thread regarding the topic, so decided to create one.
One but that I have noticed is that an image artifact is created when you scroll the recent apps menu.
The second annoying bug that I have experienced and am experiencing currently is that when you have music playing in the background, when the song changes, the equalizer just turns off! You have to go back and turn it on again. I guess the sound fx gets killed automatically?
Anything you guys would like to add?

I never experience this "currently is that when you have music playing in the background, when the song changes, the equalizer just turns off! You have to go back and turn it on again" on all ICS roms i tried(nightly and stable.)

Gmail's pop-up windows (when deleting messages, for example), aren't formatted right.

i have a weird problem where the last music played by any player gets restarted by any other player and you just can't switch songs. Only reboot works. Same with music streaming, only that never stops. It doesn't stream but keeps on reconnecting.
Annoying.

While multitasking with the browser, the music stutters and stops , not always though,.
When scrolling through home screens, could see minute horizontal white lines on the photo widget.

Combine Box
Well I have one to share.
In stock e-mail I got 2 emails registered. Every time I try to enter Combine box. The program crashes. Force close. But this happens only if the secondary mailbox is empty.

Im actually facing a lot of FC's on the xoom recently while using youtube and music. There is also some lag while browsing through the youtube main window (the cylindrical home)

Moto x quick capture problems

ok, so i recently just got my new moto x and its perfect besides these 2 problems im having with the quick capture feature and playing music from touchless control.
The first is playing music i would tell google now to play a song e.x" ok google now. play tunnel vision" it would pull the command up and tell me" playing tunnel vision by JT" then it loads it to google play music app but instead of playing the song it just does a search in the app and not play it. its really a hit or miss with this feature as i got it to work for about 10mins but then the problem reemerged. Through some searching i found that the touchless control problem is a bug apparently. any verifcation on this would help alot.
the other problem is with the quick capture feature in the phone. ive practiced the motion many times with flicking your wrist and have gotten it to do it multiple consecutive times but i can only do this if ive previously manually opened the camera app. e.x the gesture wont work at all if i havent previously opened the app no matter how many times i twist the device but when i either open the camera unlocked or from the lock screen the quick capture starts to work perfectly everytime time i twist. is anyone else having these problems or does anyone have solutions?

I can't get the music to start right either. The first time I tried it asked which app to use. I selected PowerAmp. Now it starts PowerAmp but doesn't start the song.
As for the camera, I hold the phone in my hand and then make a quick movement like I'm trying to flick a booger off my finger and it works everytime. : )

I've heard others mention that with playing the music, you have to select whether you want to use Google Play. I've never used the feature because I do all my music through Pandora, but you may need to select Google Play Store or Google Play Music app to play stuff on your device.
As for the camera motion, I was confused about it at first for quite a while. I was "twisting" the device by holding it vertically in portriat mode and rotating my wrist left or right (turing the phone clockwise or counterclockwise while still keeping it vertical).
Once I figured out that you flick it side to side (turn the device to face left/right quickly) instead of rotating, it works every time.

About the TC problem I've already selected Google play music to play the songs but it doesn't play the songs just uses the search in the music player. Its weird cuz it worked for a while but then just stopped

Could also try going to the Google Search or Google Play Music app settings and click the "clear defaults" button.

The motion you told me does seem to work better now thanks!
Clearing defaults isn't available for me to press saying I don't have any set
