Isnt that brilliant battery life!! - Galaxy S III General

Impressive battery life.!!! 12 hours and xx mins, standing @ around 62% battery still remaining.
1. Full time wifi/ occaussional shift to 3G when going for lunch/walk outside etc.
2. 3 Emails sync - push
3.Twitter - Facebook Push, instant notification
4.Normal voice calls , normal voip calls.
5.few fring messages.
6. couple of app downloads.
7. No music No movie!!
8.,....and yes, lite flow!!! liteflow blinking LED @ slow rate for Phone signal and for all notifications!!
I guess thats pretty impressive. Far better than my Note/S2 and iP 4S.

Lucky cnut!

May be! as i said, ive the same usage pattern always and infact my second phone, ip4s is struggling @ 38%

With light usage like that, I get almost 3 days on my note... But good to know battery life is good, will pick up a S3 in a few weeks...

shouldn't you be looking at 'screen on' time rather than how many hours it lasts after you unplug ?

Didn't someone post a screenshot of 4 days light use with 5 hour 30min screenshot on the battery thread?

Please discuss your battery greatness here.

Huh, Well said. Of course he barely used it.
To all, it's not about days/months/years guys. Please post the screen on time, that's what matters.

Good for you .... But it depends on phone set up, what apps you are using, brightness level and so many other factors.
I get around 12 to 14 hrs with moderate to heavy use. I have around 5 email accounts to sync, 2 to 3 hrs of web browsing, 1 hr of a2dp music. I'm pretty happy with it, others may get different times based on usage and set up.

Let me see. 5 days, 8 hours. That's 148 hours. 8 percent screen-on time of 148 hours is. 11 hours.
Hmm.. that's still a pretty high screen usage no?

I don't believe his screen was on for 11 hours, and its a percentage of the battery, not a percentage of time, lol
This in fact concludes his screen was practically not on at all, plus he was probably using 2g as well. Using 2g only extends battery life tremendously

I think we need a dedicated battery section under this forum to stop all the clutter of pretty useless threads which have no bearing on real life usage.
Totally agree it's how long the screen is on for which to me is REAL usage.

I see the battery time in the About Phone > Battery Usage. Where is the screen on time?
Edit: NM. Just clicked on Display. My battery is at 37% after being on battery usage 12 hours and screen on for 2 hours. I have some Messaging apps open in the background that take up less than 5%. Only 7 min of calling all day and probably about 15 minutes gaming. The rest was texting and web browsing. Is that pretty good for battery time on the GS II?

Anyone can get tis duration by transfering to 2g only, using the phone only when needed on zero brightness, and underclock to 800mhz, hell you could even get this at stock 1.2...

I made this thread to avoid the multiple threads discussing this matter and its solutions.
OK...everybody tell us how is his battery life......
personally mine last 1 day with heavy usage.....2 days with light usage.....
and please everybody tell us wich rom in the use...and how much using it...and all the statistics that you can get...
You are welcome to post any of your problems with batteries and solutions....
I get about the same, 1 full day with quite heavy use in terms of messaging and surfing.. It does drain alot faster playing games or watching videos.

2 days with medium usage 3G, 4 days 2G heavy usage.
I have always said this phone has really good battery life, and for me it does.
right now my battery is on 32% and from the last charge past 1d 8h 12m with medium use
I had 3-4 days with stock 2.1 with my typical light usage. Now with stock 2.3.3 this increased to 5-6 days.
(few calls per day, no games, no music, 3G almost always disabled)
Compared with latest 2.1 with bb 67 on stock 2.3.3 battery life is worse. 1 day with heavy usage, and 2 days with light usage - 2g connected constantly.
I suggest everybody post screenshots and what rom you are using.

Does the mobile networks play a role when it comes to battery life in terms of network coverage etc... Mine fully charged with average usage lasts less than 24 hours. There's a theory.....and i personally tested it and it works....
if you wanna get a great battery you must charge it at the percent of 20 or 15.....and it lasts a 2 days...
and i charged it at 0%..it keep about 4 hours charging...and it doesnt last a day....
im not very sure.....test it guys and see it if it works and tell me the results.....
dont forget about the THANKS botton.....
these threads are pointless imo...
everyone's usage is different, and you always get people saying "oh my phone lasts 3 weeks on a single change".... Pfft sure it does
There is no point in really comparing, yes you can get great battery life if you don't use your phone but what does that prove?

So what?
I'm giving my opinion on the topic of battery life comparisons in general, it was not any way offensive to you.
I'm simply stating that unless there is a way to objectively measure that the usage was the same, what does "this many hours" actually really mean?
Plus everyone's ideas of "moderate","heavy", etc... are completely different.

4 hours this time but i got similar with almost 10h
Not trying to be rude but you DO know that the phone charged for quite some time in that interval (obvious from screenshot) and that the time doesn't reset unless it gets fully charged... right?
Even still, the fact that the whole graph represents three days, it would seem that you're getting over a day's worth on a full run-down. Not bad.
is your data mostly off ?
i'd wifi is almost always on.. never had such battery life before and yes was charged for a small time so its almost irrelevant i think (like, was charged when using nexus s as usb storage for transfer files for less than 30 minutes)

After upgrading my Nexus S with ICS the battery was a bit weak but after a few recharges it's actually insanely good.
As you can see from screen shots my record is over 4 days. I wasn't using the phone that much but I still did a fair share of downloading via wi-fi and I took a bunch of photos and a few minutes of video, etc...
The phone did charge about 10% in between as you can see from the graph (I had it plugged in via USB to transfer some files on my PC).

I did a full wipe before upgrading with full ROM.
Mine's at 4d 7h 29m 44s right now with 36% battery left.. no charging, wifi on. Been working a lot so not really used it much, check clock and battery status from time to time and maybe 1-2 text messages a day and alarm clock and check email in the morning and that's about it.

Sorry but I find this hilarious

I've been seeing numerous posts in different threads by people bragging about their battery life and how their battery lasts 43 days and still has like 19% left and such. Usually a picture attached or something. Funny part is at what point is that impressive when you don't use your phone!? If you only use it as a book end or paper weight its really not that great that your battery lasts long.

I'm sorry, but I call stinky sticky diarrhea if you claim more than a full day of battery on heavy use. There is no way.

the biggest use is so that you have a clean slate to determine what minimum drain is. I.e. do you have a rogue app bleeding battery.
turning on things/running apps will of course use battery - but you should be able to break it down to what is using how much.
I find it equally amusing that you had to start a thread to laugh at people claiming great battery life. I mean talk of the irony here.
No, I dont get 43 days of standby. But it does last me one full day with heavy use (no GPS). Even if I have more than 50% left on easy sunday, I would still connect it to charger before going to bed. Regardless of what phone I have, I like the assurance of getting out of home with full battery. I even charge my secondary Nokia daily which can go 5 days easy without recharge.
But that does not mean you need to make laughing stock out of people who dont use their phones heavily and get days of standby. My friend goes 2 days on his note without recharge. He is just a moderate user who does not use 3G, but still loves his Note.
More like 43 hours. Must be a typo. 43 days is super ultra exaggeration to the max.

If you call close to 5 hours of screen time, couple of hours of music, 20-30 odd minutes of youtube video, 2+ hours of calls, 2 gmail and one company email account with sync on as light use, then sure. Our definitions are different.
There are 2 ways to use your phone. without giving it a second thought, and secondly learning to use the things at your disposal to intelligently manage your battery.
Most of the sites I read / follow have their own apps or pulse support. I use pulse rather than standard browser and set it to dark mode(it uses black background in dark mode ). Use applications of my daily newspaper with dark background support, use dark skin, turn on wifi only when I need to download some heavy stuff and keep it on 3G network for syncing (3G standby actually uses less power than wifi kept on and data needed for sync is very less. Using wifi for that is waste of battery resources).
Same with Tapatalk Pro. I use it in black background mode.
There are easy ways to save battery with AMOLED displays and it is to use darker background wherever possible.
You do this and even with heavy use you can easily go 1 full day on note. As long as you dont touch GPS, its all good. If you use GPS for even 30-60 minutes a day, there is no way even note will last one day.
Same with camera. Too much video recording and your battery will go down. These 2 things I dont use too much every day. Mostly camera is for snaps only and short 2-3 minutes clips once or twice a week.
With this use I am left with more than 20% battery by the time its time to go to bed. Thats enough. This is first phone other than iPhone that has given this much backup time. My SGS2 needed recharging in car on my way back home.
This is all on checkrom with FM2.0 kernel with on demand governor. (This is the best combination that I have settled on. Tried every ROM in the developer section and every kernel. Nothing gives battery life like this particular combination on my Note. I would love to see your usage statistics and see how you are eating your battery.
mine is around 15hrs of medium usage with office exchange email connected with 3G 24/7. i did saw few Note user posted the SS about their battery life lasting for almost 3 days. the story is completely unacceptable coz we all knew that 3G draining our battery alot. As usual, the screen display is the top in my battery usage report.

17 hours doesnt seem that good tbh, specially as the screen has only been on for 3 of those hours.
Here's my battery life with around 3 hours of screen time. This also includes streaming Google Music over 3G for an hour.
As it stands right now with a lot of stuff syncing, my battery has been lastingover a full day with more than 3 hours of screen time.
If I use my phone heavily, I can still pull off a full days (work day) worthof use with a screen time well over 4 and just short of 5 hours some days.
