I searched and didn't see it anywhere, but it appears that our beloved T989 is the first to be able to natively use IPv6 over the cell network (thanks to T-Mobile supporting IPv6 on their HSPA networks).
I can't get it to work on Darkside's UCLE2 ROM, but I imagine that's because it's the wrong base or radio or something (waiting on someone to come out with a non-stock UVLE1). Or possibly because IPv6 isn't up yet in my area...
Can anyone running stock UVLE1 confirm that IPv6 is working on their phone?

confirmed working. After you save and set the new v6 APN you must reboot.
I wonder...would this fix the infamous data hanging issue?
Where phone says it's connected to 4G/HSPA+ but data doesn't work?
So what would this do for us? Because I don't quite know personally.

What is the V6 apn?
Edit: Nevermind, found it on a simple google search. Just the APN type needs to be changed to IPV6. But since some apps like Skype do no support IPV6 yet, i'll hold off since it does not cause any performance improvement

This thread is regarding Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6). If you are unaware, the internet that we know is running out of physical addresses. IPv6 is added to combat that problem.
Very good reading on the subject.

Evidently you didn't search very well, as this is old news
Back on topic: does anyone have aGPS working over ipv6? I've noticed that it doesn't work with ipv4 on my Galaxy Nexus.
IPv6 works on my stock SGS 2 with stock ICS as well as my Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus on ICS
You must have the fully updated stock firmware for this to work on the SGS2
Keep in mind, you must reboot the SGS2 after creating, saving, and selecting the APN.
More details here http://support.t-mobile.com/message/140209

From the Sprint site: "Sprint Mobile Hotspot add-on required to access Wi-Fi on the device".
Does that mean if I want to use my home wifi to browse the internet on the phone, I can't unless I pony up $30.00 more for the Mobile Hotspot? I'm sure it can't be that way. No smartphone locks out wifi unless you buy a tethering plan. I use wifi all the time on my iphone as it's much faster than the 3g data network is.
http://now.sprint.com/evo/
It's in the fine print at the bottom.
Based on sprint's past phones you will be able to connect to your wifi network at home. You will not be able to connect your laptop with wifi tethering to the phone without the addon hot spot.
I believe it is referring to connecting other devices to the evo via wifi.
I think this is a case of reading too far into the words regardless if sprint was ever dumb enough to do it once we have root it wouldn't matter.
im not to worried about it... gonna be easy as **** to hack that feature in once root is attained
I fear that the OP may be correct; as the OP points out, it does state the following at the bottom of Sprint's webpage (emphasis added):
"Sprint Mobile Hotspot Add-on required to access wi-fi on device"
I am also concerned that Sprint may use this as an excuse not to update the EVO 4G to Froyo 2.2, because I believe Froyo 2.2 provides tethering and wifi hotspot capabilities built into the ROM.

HTC sense on the Hero (1.5) also included a wired tethering feature... sprint just had HTC disable it on their firmware... why wouldnt they do the same with the evo?
I've been under the impression that if you root your device in the future, there will likely be some type of hack that will allow you to use the mobile hotspot feature anyways, i don't think sprint or htc, unless they released some kind of update to stop this(which i'm sure you can stop this update from going through right?), you would be good to go...But, take what i say with a grain of salt because i'm new to this whole rooting ****, I've never personally owned a android handset either.

Once you root your device you can do whatever you want to it, once it's rooted only thing sprint has control over is what passes between your phone and them, data, calls, etc, not your device
I'm running android on a device that isn't even supposed to run android, and as far as sprint is concerned they think I still have WinMo 6.1 on this thing.
I asked my Sprint rep the other day when I was adjusting my plan. Wi-Fi will be "incoming only" and active on the EVO out of the box. If you want "outbound" (i.e. tethering, hotspot etc.) then you pony up the $30.

Yeah i don't know why people would think you would have to pay to be able to use a wifi network of your own(or someone elses), no one would ever charge for that, and i don't even think you possibly could without heavy HEAVY modification of android.
OMG! I'm also new to all of this... I have a few questions? They may have already been answered, pls excuse my ignorance on the matter. I have a Huawei Ascend M860 Android 2.1 (I think) I'm trying to get the mobile hotspot on it (BTW how do I do this?) but I'm afraid to do anything because I dont want to get caught paying more money or finding out that the insurance I'm paying extra won't be valid anymore? I want to know what happens if I "root" my phone will they find out I've done something to it? LOL. sorry every1 but I'm not trying to have 2 bills to pay by the end of the month if I can connect to the internet on my laptop by using my phone. Thnx.

Updated the title to include that the universal search feature had been removed with OTA.
Surely this is a class-action in the making? People purchase product with a specific feature set, feature is later removed. Now, it might be cheaper than fighting with Apple, or might be enforced by the courts, but it doesn't change the fact that something you paid for has been taken away.

I just got off of live chat with tech support. I had a good tech. He copied and pasted the OTA information he had internally.
Went something like this:
"Reason: Google Search Update"
And then the base band, how to tell customers how to perform the update, etc
Its a 10mb file.
So, pretty much it down grades the search function of Google Search.
Awesome...

I've had and LG OG and currently use the Nexus 5 but ordered a G2 for my alt. phone. I've used FoxFi wifi thethering app for most of my devices and it always worked great until I tried it on the LG OG. On the Nexus 5 its fabulous! On the LG OG I had to use TrevE Wifi Tether Mod ( FoxFi worked but only the USB tether). Those two are the best for masking wifi tether usage but your data is still clocked. FoxFi needs no extra configuring but you have to download PDAnet and install it on your computer so the app can connect ( easy no prob ) TrevE's does have to have some configuring. When I get my G2 I will let you know better or you can tell me if you go ahead and try them. I also plan on using ICE Rom when I get mine. FOR BOTH APPS MAKE SURE YOU SET UP A PASSWORD BEFORE YOU CONNECT TO ANOTHER DEVICE.

The main feature that I would love to get from this phone is Wifi Hotspot without paying sprint extra. I have an unlimited data plan already.
My phone was paid-off so I got my MSL
I tried the code ##33284# (##debug#) no MSL needed or edit options
-Active APN Connections
--internet
---APN type default,mms
I can see the setting but can't edit APN type to default, mms, dun
I tried the code ##3282# (##data#) MSL required to edit
-APN Settings
--internet (selected edit and entered my MSL)
almost all the APN settings seen in debug are missing. APN type is missing.
Is there a hidden menu or something? Can we use the shortcut maker like we did on the LG G4?
My guess is that it's not going to be a simple thing. I used to use PdaNET for this on Verizon and 7.0 killed it, and from the limited I've read on their pages about it, it doesn't sound like something they're likely to get around any time soon. That to me says that it's not an easy one to break open, so... I'm not keeping my fingers crossed yet, but I would love the world to someday prove me wrong.
I have unlimited on sprint and I'm not charged extra to use hotspot. At least I haven't been yet. Maybe something has changed?

Try to select from list 2G and see if the modem works. then try one of the options offered. So I managed to get 4G
I think the problem is with the modem they used in Android Pie: it supports only B1 (2100), B3 (1800+), B5 (850), B40 (TDD 2300) and B41 (TDD 2500).
So 4G is working but only in countries where this bands are used. In Italy for example we have band 3 in highways and cities, but in rural areas we use band 20 and it's gone
I hope that they can solve the problem with a new update.
PS: Don't try to flash 8.1 modem over Android Pie stock rom. It will cause system crashes and SIM card won't work anymore until a reflash of Pie modem.

I have to say I'm amazed that Xiaomi can release a rom with missing bands. It seems so incompetent. Considering Europe in particular uses these bands and this is the market they are trying to break into it would seem another massive own goal (after the phone for £1 UK farce)!
Can you guys try to use a launcher like Nova that allows to go to activities, search for Settings.BandMode and select Automatic, and see if it helps?

Consider as well that people who have this issue have been "forcing" the update when they were not supposed to get it... You can't blame Xiaomi for that.
If some people got the OTA "normally" and have this issue, then I can understand the complains, but so far it's only people with 0 patience and disregarding the advice of others who warned about risks for LTE while forcing the OTA (and in case it's not clear for some, LTE==4G).

This is simply wrong on a technical level. There is only one version of the update. I also factory reset and the bands are still missing. It's been established that xiaomi have omitted many of the bands. If you go on the firmware thread that joey huab updates he clearly explains that the bands are missing on the pie firmware. It has nothing to do with using a vpn to get the update early!

You have to wait for xiaomi firmware update. The bands are missing.
