Possible production fault - Sawdust or cuttings behind display - Galaxy S III General

Hello everyone,
when I got my SGS3 I was very excited. However, I noticed a possible production fault with the display, and I kindly ask any other SGS3 owner to check, whether this affects your phone as well.
Here is what's wrong:
When the you are in a dark environment (e.g. in your bedroom, reading in bed with your lights out - that's when I noticed it) and display a black image (most conveniently displayed with a display test app for example Screen Test - no outside links allowed for me, yet. Just look for it in the play store. It needs no rights and should have no strings attached ;-)).
Once your eyes have adjusted to the darker environment light, you will notice, two things:
a) the 'black' of the SGS3 is - by far - not as black as it was back on the SGS2. It looks much more greyish to me, as you see somehow kind of a back lighting. Don't know why you can see this, as I always thought AMOLED does not need such a thing, but anyway.
but much more importantly:
b) you see (at least that's what can be seen on my phone) little black (they are really black, in contrast to the display) 'snakelike' or 'wormlike' formed rubbish behind the display, which looks to me like sawdust or cuttings. Definitely a fault from production, though.
As I am not equipped with a good camera I am unfortunately not able to provide any photos (remember, it has to be dark in order to see 'through' the screen).
Can anyone confirm he has - or hopefully for you - has not these kind of problems?
The only good thing is, that the 'worms' are only visible in very rare circumstances. But now that I know that they are there, I always look out for them. And that is really annoying .

If yes then you're not alone everything related should be in this thread. If something else, try to snatch a picture of it or reproduce it in Photoshop

Thanks, exactly like that. Didn't find it with the search function though. Thread can be closed, I guess

Cuz you're using the wrong terminology.
Those are often referred to around here as "blobs".
Skyrocket and Hercules (both GSII) are full of them.
But when ICS leaked for Skyrocket, it made the dark grey more black and it became harder to see the blobs, though they are obviously still there.
It never bothers me. But when I got a warranty replacement phone for a different issue, I noticed it had a lot less blobs on it than the first phone did.

Screen issue? (LCD Mura?)

I just noticed this after looking at the screentest app, but on gray background I can see some lighter "smudges" or light spots near the middle bottom of the screen. I was hoping it was a smudge on the actual screen since I still have the piece of plastic from factory on it, but I don't think that's what it is. Does anyone else have these lightish spots, and is it something I should expect? I don't see any other issues like stuck or dead pixels so I thought I was in the clear. I can't see it on every screen and I have to really look for it unless it's a gray background like in the picture below.
I tried to highlight what I'm talking about.

it's called pink smearing a lot of users has that and it's still not clear whether it's a sofware or hardware issue

All the smearing topics I've seen involved scrolling and seeing the gray bars leave a trail behind them, this is a persistent spot on the screen that is just lighter than the rest on certain backgrounds.
This thread says he got the screen replaced:

also som3 said they got it when going to settings anyway as far for replacement
you can even get the phone replaced
Not sure what the first part of your post means, but this looks like LCD mura. Verizon said I have 14 days to get another one if something is wrong, so as long as I can get a brand new one in exchange and test it out in the store I may try to return it. I paid full price for the phone and it's going to annoy me every time I see it now.

yes you should replace it i would be annoyed 2 if my phone has that i mean if i pay for a high end phone i expect it to be perfect or has a few issues that i don't care for and plus i hate pink
I hate pink too, but this doesn't have anything to do with that. Pink/purple smearing is an entirely different issue.

[Q] Display problem

Hey guys,
I'm having a problem with the display on my G2. I spotted a grey spot on my display. It's not very big and can only be seen if your in a dark room and the display is black. Sounds really like a minor issue, but now that I know it's there, it just bugs me.
Any of you guys have an idea what this is, or having the same problem? (Just test it out)
I'm not sure if this is reason enough to get it replaced

You can't see it very well, because I just don't have a better way of taking a picture from it than my Nexus 7

I won't look on mine... because if it's something common I will have it for sure.. and I know myself it will bug me till the end ...
Anyway looks like glue residue or something in that matter, in case you do not have a screen protector.
If you can prove it to the store, get it replaced... This is a flagship device. Prestige one... Even minor appearance problems shouldn't be there.
Personally if I had it there and as you say, you can see it, get it replaced, and you never know if this i snot a beginning of something bigger? What if your screen falls off? (bit paranoid, but you know what to say in the store if they gonna give you hardtime )
Get it replaced! A $500 phone should not have that.
Sent from my JEE TWO
yeah, get it replaced if you want to. But i have a dead pixel on my G2, it bugged me for about a week, but ive forgotten its even there now haha

look at the difference in color of buttons "1" and "0" .
Does anyone have screen that have same color on the sides of the keyboard ? if u do please take a picture of it in low light room with minimum brightness.
This is not an "issue" no screen is perfect. You will have VERY SLIGHT discoloration here, while other will have it there or not at all. If you don't understand this, you will be annoyed by yourself always seeing that slight default

i want to sell it . And the question is - does anyone have perfect screen on note3 ? So i should buy another note3 or other device ...
perfect screens dont exist. Perfect cars dont exist, perfect people dont exist. Perfection doesn't exist.
I can say that i have a perfect screen, but then again, i wasn't looking for an imperfection like some members here tend to do. I'm sure if I start looking for one, I might find one, but whats the point? Unless you have a dead pixel, or distortion, its not this TINY difference in tint under the right lighting conditions thats will prevent you from selling it full price

It is well known problem of Samsungs, starting from Galaxy S II if I remember correctly.
It is hardware issue, difficult to remove due to lens build.
I've been in Sonoma this week for a wedding. I've taken over 250 pictures in every possible lighting condition. I've been nothing but impressed with the camera. Really low light isn't great but it's better than other Samsung phones. Low light can still get you some impressive results.
Macro shots are impressive too.
I'm sorry you're having an issue but it's definitely not universal.
It is visible in plain scene mostly, maybe you can't see such effect. Conditions must be met ^^

I'll check the next time I find the need to shoot a white wall in a dimly lit room. I don't participate in threads that require replicating conditions I'll never or rarely face to create a problem. It's kind of a 'If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it does it make a sound'? thing. If I'm not in the forest I don't care.

Color convergence issues

Hi all,
I've had my 6p for almost two weeks and tomorrow is my last day to return it. They will not extend buyer's remorse to a replacement unit so before tomorrow I need to decide if the issue I have is specific to my unit (get a replacement) or related to the AMOLED panel used on this phone (cancel).
The issue is that colors seem not to converge correctly, just like old CRT screens would. This is most noticeable on high contrast borders such as black text on light backgrounds, which my brain interprets as embossed text rather than nice flat text. Below is a zoomed in example showing this issue, upper borders are reddish/darker and lower ones are greenish/bright.

Anyone else seeing this? my friend's S5 has a similar thing but way less noticeable and i could probably live with it, whereas my 6p is probably too much. Yes this is my first AMOLED.
Thoughts? thanks!

You are joking? Right?
That image is blown up how much??
400%. Otherwise you wouldn't see it on a forum, but real life you can see it with no need to zoom
