Problem installing and updating 3rd party apps - Acer Iconia A500

I have the Amazon app store installed after about a month of trying. I'm not sure what changed, but it installed. Now that it's installed, when I try to install apps I download from the Amazon app store, the "install" button doesn't work. I can press anywhere on the install button with the same result, nothing. This has happened before with other 3rd party apps. Anyone else run into this problem?

I only tried with youtube, these other apps I dont will use and dont try with these. and I uninstalled it, these apps appears like youtube app in titanium backup
edit: I tried install google voice and google earth and no problem for me
I had a same problem on my Nexus S, what I did was, I navigated to /system/app/ folder on my phone with ES File Explorer, found the YouTube.apk and reinstalled it from there!
PS. Android Market and my phone showed the application as installed, and all options were greyed out (Open, Install, Uninstall)!
I fixed it with ep file explorer. Fix the youtube app
But still have problems with voice recorder thinkfree office and others that wont install and show up in my menu.

I had to do this several times because it kept getting messed up. Couldn't uninstall it normally but it didn't open.

Try downloading an uninstaller app from the market.

What is that? Can you give me a name of one?

I cannot uninstall it with a free app. Google vpice or thinkfree are not even visible.
I can only see these apk files with ep file.explorer

My odd solution:
-Download GApps from Rom Manager...or wherever
-Flash GApps via recovery
-Reboot (Still no YouTube...)
-Go to Market
-Re-install Youtube from Market
When my YouTube "disappeared", it "appeared" in the Market as installed but the Open and Unistall buttons were greyed out. The icon in the drawer and the widget option were both gone.
I don't have that Think Free Office icon either in the apps drawer, but the TFO is installed in my phone. I was little bit confused about that thing, but now I see it's a common issue...?
I find it in xoom forum, thought it might help
If you have had a problem with the missing YouTube and/or Google Books applications, we have a workaround you can try.
Connect to WiFi network. (So far it looks like only WiFi Xooms have had this issue. Let me know if you have this on a Verizon Xoom.)
Go into Settings > Applications > Manage Applications
Go to the "All" tab and then scroll down and select "Google Partner Setup."
Clear Data.
Reboot your Xoom. (That is, turn it off and on.)
If this doesn't work, perform a factory reset (Settings > Privacy > Factory data reset) and try the sequence above again.
Please let me know how if this works for you.

How? Was it the suggestion to clear data from the Google Partner Setup or something else?

Can't Install Apps Not From Play Store

I recently purchased a Nexus 10. I'm trying to install the Amazon App Store which is not in the Play Store, but instead is a file that I can download from Amazon. I've selected "Unknown Sources" option in the security settings and when I go to install the Amazon App Store App it gives me the option to install it, but it won't actually let me select the install button. I'm not rooted at all and running a totally stock version of Android 4.2.2 on my Nexus 10. Any ideas as to how I can get this app to install with out rooting my tablet?
I didn't have any problems installing it. Do you have any device administrators activated on your device which might block 3rd party apps?

I just checked and I don't have any device administrators turned on. Is it possible that it's a 4.2.2 issue?

It should allow you to install it. I'd either try re downloading the apk or factory reset.

So after rebooting a few times, it worked. So weird.

Do you have screen filter installed? I had the same issue,I couldn't click on install when screen filter was on. So just deactivate it and you can click on install again. No need to reboot.
After playing around a little, I discovered that it was the Screen Adjuster app that I had downloaded. As soon as I uninstalled the app, everything worked perfectly.

Launcher 8

I saw a few screenshots of people using Launcher 8 for their KFHD homescreen. I tried to download it through the Google Play store, but it was saying that it was incompatible with my device. A few minutes ago, I tried to download it again, but now the app isn't even appearing anymore in Google Play. Has anyone had success downloading and installing this app on their KFHD?
Perhaps they sideloaded it or installed the apk ?

2 options to get around the issue. Either change your device name on the build.prop, or the safer route.... use Market Helper http://codekiem.com/2013/02/13/market-helper/

Uninstall Process Freezes with xPrivacy

I have xPrivacy enabled and working well, however, everytime I try to uninstall an app from a launcher screen (TouchWiz and Nova), the process freezes and reboots the phone.
Here's the steps I take if anyone with xPrivacy would like to try to reproduce it:
Install any random app from the appstore,
Go to a launcher and hold down the app's icon until the Uninstall option pops up and drag over to Uninstall.
There's a prompt asking me if I want to uninstall the app, i select yes, and it takes me to another screen with a progress bar.
After a few seconds it freezes. After about 40 secs the phone reboots, and the app is gone.
I'm able to uninstall apps just fine using the menu system in Titanium Backup, or if i go directly in Google Play and hit Uninstall on the app's page.
The freezing and reboots only happen when uninstalling directly from Launchers. I tried clearing data for xPrivacy and allowing everything through. That didnt work. I tried using Autostarts and preventing xPrivacy from launching during an Install/Uninstall event. Still didnt work.
If i disabled the xPrivacy module in XposedFramework, then the process works fine.
Could someone verify this issue and perhaps inform me of a fix?
thanks.
I have exactly the same problem with Xprivacy to uninstall applications.
I search too a fix for this issue. Perhaps contact the author of xprivacy..
Same problem here. Note 3 (rooted) with Nova

It also happens for me, too WHY?!:silly:
Any update?
If you are sure it is caused by XPrivacy, then you should report it directly on GitHub to the developer and provide logcats.
Please read this thread:

and especially this:

It looks like he will get to this "known issue" in a few weeks.

Thanks for the information. I am having this same issue myself. but I need dude to get to this "known" issue sooner than that. I paid for pro version and I need to uninstall a bunch of stuff. I might uninstall xPrivacy, then install it back when I'm done.
The dev is on vacation for a couple weeks

In settings and under security, did you select "unknown sources".
Same issue
I had the same issue, couldn't get amazon app to install until I restarted my phone, even though unknown sources was checked. I did get the amazon app to install but now I can't install any apps from it. I get to the install screen but can't tap the install button, it just does nothing. I've discovered I'm also having the same issue with my Nexus 5. Is this a Marshmallow problem?

Check the permissions for the Amazon app, make sure it has clearance for storage, etc.
It's because of Lux... Disable Lux and try again. I had the same issue on my 5x but when installing a local apk. It has something to do with the overlay that Lux adds. It messes something up with the permissions (have you ever gotten the message about an overlay being enabled when you go to grant something permissions? I think it's the same thing that causes it)
