Hi all
I have my Bell S2 rooted (flashed the custom kernel with Odin)
and then unlocked with Herolz app
Now I downloaded ROM Manager and flashed the latest CWM
but when I 'boot into recovery' , i am booted into the stock android 3e recovery
I can't understand what is going on... can someone provide some insite
THank you!
While Im at it, anyway to remove the yellow warning sign
I think i need a stock kernel to flash , is there one available for bell s2
ive flashed the ZS OZS KG2 root CF kernel as of now only
hi,
I found this thread really helpful
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1193695
I don't think there is a dedicated Clockwork Mod for the bell version yet. But this is the next best thing.
Ive flashed a few roms with this and it works fine.
I used the jig method to reset the yellow triangle. hopefully you have one on hand
You don't need rom manager, the kernel that you flashed already has cwm recovery.
then why cant I reboot into CWM?
was the rom manager flash what ruined it u think
shud i reflash the kernel, any one in particular for blel S2
No idea, flash the cf-root kernel for your firmware(kg2 i take it)
Like peach said, just flash cf-root, any kg2. I just got my phone today and its already rooted. You wont need rom manager. cf-root installs an app called cwm which will boot you into recovery.
You can't use cwm with chainfire's rooted kernel. Boot into recovery with the one included in the rooted kernel.

hey guys, my samsung is in a bootloop and recovery mode is not acceseble
im looking for a cm9 firmware thati can flash via odin3 to fix my phone
i think that is not possible .start ur fone in download mode .flash a stock rom .and then flash CM9 .
Just search for "fix recovery" package. I've seen it in many threads. It should help you

if you manage to get into recovery, try to flash cm9 again, it will probably fix your problem.
if you rather flash JVU to start over again, dont forget for the small installation that comes after the odin process to end before flashing any custom kernel.
Hi All
Today i'm about sharing the safest method to Flash ROM's on Galaxy Note
Main problem with EMMC brick that causes hard brick
(your phone will not turn on at all and you will need a $50 JTAG service from MobileTechVideos)
is mainly with “leaked” ICS ROMs. If you have flashed one of those “leaked” ICS ROMs, there’s a chance you can brick. :crying:
But to clear things up, your phone doesn’t get bricked unless you try to “wipe data/factory reset” in ClockworkMod Recovery while trying to install a new ROM.
Whenever you are installing or restore ROM using ClockworkMod Recovery , Flash Abyss Gingerbread kernel Download HereStep 1:
Download and copy over the Abyss kernel zip file to your SD card or internal storage. Again, I always have a copy of Abyss kernel zip file on my SD card I suggest you do too.
Step 2:
Then hold down Volume Up, Center Home, and Power buttons together until your phone resets and you get ClockworkMod Recovery.
Step 3:
Choose “install zip from sdcard”.
Step 4:
Choose “choose zip from sdcard” or “choose zip from internal sdcard” depending on where you copied over the Abyss kernel zip file to.
Step 5:
Choose the Abyss kernel zip file and install it.
Step 6:
Once installed, you still have to reboot into ClockworkMod Recovery so go back to main menu and choose “advanced”.
Step 7:
Choose “Reboot Recovery” and this should reboot back you into ClockworkMod Recovery but the one off Abyss kernel.
From here on, you can install new Gingerbread or ICS ROMs without worrying about bricking :good: :good:
Do this Steps Every Time You Want to Flash a ROM be safe
=)~
sorry, but r u sure abysskernel 4.2 is the safe kernel to do ?
No offense to abyss developer, but...
I've tried it before, and makes my note brick when do wiping on ICS.
Lucky me, I still able to regain few gigabyte of the space. Otherwise, I will need to spend some more time to go to the customer service of Samsung.
Now, for my device, I feel much better when using speedmod kernel. and for me, speedmod kernel serve me well than abyss.

Can anyone confirm that this method is 100% safe?
I am out of warranty as many of us in the forum here, and can not even try anything that's 90%.

No offense to the OP, But the SAFEST IS STILL PC ODIN. Pc odin is a samsung software not some script written by a developer.
This method might work for those with root and already on custom recoveries. But for those on stock ICS, they would have to first flash CWM.zip touch/temp to have the option to flash abyss. Which has recently been deemed NOT SAFE to use for people on affected stock ICS kernels. The current safest way to flash a kernel is pc odin. Which will give you the triangle. Thanks for the info, but this method might not be safe for all note users.

If you hard brick your phone. You will need a new motherboard... NOT a jtag... Op please read first yourself before posting stuff incorrectly

To use CWM.zip to flash Abyss is the most stupidesterestest thing to do. No wonder the CWM method is deemed NOT safe...
Abyss kernel can be flashed by recovery if you are rooted and have advance recovery only, it won't work on stock recovery.
If you are rooted and have safe kernel, then what is need to have abyss kernel?

Based on my experience, Abyss is needed and 100% safe in case you want to go back from ICS to GB (of course always assuming you are rooted and with CWM).
I had soft brick when trying to revert from ICS to GB (by using the ICS CWM) and then Abyss solved my problem.
The way it started, this thread will only confuse every noob in the known universe no end.

What if you need to restore a GB nandroid backup?...Would you suggest to flash GB via PC Odin, then root it, then install CWM and then restore backup?....I always moved through Abyss and never had one problem...
Anyway..it was just my experience and my contribution!
Yes, for nandroid backup perticular it is method of choice.

mmmm yes i use it personally and i chose it coz i don't wanna brick my note ...... use it step by step to be safe
Soo many threads about this.... Look its not rocket science. Use pc odin or mobile odin flash any safe kernel and do your flashing and wiping. If you use the cwm.zip on stock recovery and wipe you will emmc brick it. I did it twice trust me. Anyways flash the safe kernel if on ics use triangle away to reset counter. Now is that so hard to understand?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
Yes.
Agree. Pc odin with triangle away is the safest.
But if those who want to use CWM touch temp to flash, try to flash safe ICS kernel first (REMEMBER: Do not do wipe with CWM touch temporary ), like speedmod, notecore.
After u flash the safe kernel on ur stock ROM, reboot ur system. Let it run for few minutes first. Then restart to recovery again.
At this point, u shld be on a safe kernel rcovery.
Then u can flash the ROm that u want.
PS:
If u need to wipe before flashing rom, make sure u are on a safe ICS kernel first.

am agree with u that odin is safe to use , but this method u don't need computer to use it
flashing rom's on a bus and i use it personally man >>>>>> both are good :cyclops:
up :good:
Safest and easier way it's:
If you are in ICS not rooted: flash via pc odin a safe ics kernel (notecore/speedmod) go cwm Do all wipes and install any rom. (remove triangle with triangle away)
If you are in ICS and rooted: flash a safe kernel via mobile odin (notecore/speedmod) go cwm Do all wipes and install any rom
If you are in gb not rooted: flash a rooted gb rom via pc odin go cwm Do all wipes and install any rom
If you are in gb rooted: go cwm Do all wipes and install any rom..
Why to make it complicated?

I m trying to flash an official jb russian rom on my note 10.1 but it fail after “nand write starts” in odin.
Im using odin v3.07 and g.note 10.1 is bought in china with chinese rom n8000zccmb1. Reason im flashing different rom is i want to use russian language as primary and playstore. Rooting stuff is not important as well warrant. any helps are welcome...
This is a known problem with the chinese version of the g-note 10.1 - dies horribly around modem.bin part... The only way I've heard someone got another stock rom flashed was using the paid version of mobile ODIN and flashing it using that.
You need to be rooted to use mobile ODIN and have the rom image on your sd card. You can remove root by unticking the everroot options when you flash the new rom. Don't forget to run triangle away to remove custom status and reduce flash count to none. After the flash go to ecovery and wipe data/cche and dalvik cache.
Go to sammobile to find your stock chinese rom as you may need it to get your tab to boot... Good to have stock rom in case you need to restock anyway...

Can you link me to the post.
To root it, is it ok to flash cwm via odin then flash superuser using cwm? coz by what u r saying, i need to get the tab rooted.
Mate I found that post a little while back. You might have luck using search.
From what was said though , there was no problem rooting the rom, just when you flashed an entire rom using ODIN. And always when the modem.bin was being flashed did it error out....
Hope that helps...

Use it if you need to flash OA1 kernel if any issues on flashing a SS rom so you don't have to start all over again from stock
hit that thanks button if it helped you
Dont we have this already..??
feel free to link it I did not see one so I did it myself
So how would you use this? Flash in Odin AP slot? What about Root? Wouldn't you lose root if you did this?
flash in odin you'd use it if for some reason the device looped when forgetting to not install kernel immediately after rom when installing a lollipop rom from kitkat via safestrap
When you get into that situation you can't reboot back to safestrap to install said kernel via recovery, this fixes having to start all over again
figured why not upload incase someone else needed
Very cool.. Thank you
has been looking for this one since bad flash or forget to flash OC1. Thanks.
Were do I place this at in Odin
