I5800 that cannot receive or make calls

My friend has got a Samsung I5800 Apollo (Galaxy 3) which he claims it cannot make or receive calls. He asked me what might be wrong with it. I'm not saying its lost or stolen but why else would it not work? Only other thing could possibly when it was unlocked to networks the phone imei got messed up? I've seen some phones get all zeros.

i'd suggest unlocking it with superoneclick. if that fails, maybe replace the phone.apk?

Honestly, i think the simplest solution when u have serious prblms like that is to backup all ur data and just flash a new ROM. I can wholeheartedly recommend Kyrillos' ROM v9.5. Hasnt let me down once!

You didn't by any chance restore your system data with TiBa when changing roms?? And not to sound patronising but you can enter recovery mode (if available on your kernel) by pushing Vol Up+Vol Down+Home+Power buttons together and restore factory settings, or download mode to flash from Odin by pushing Vol Down+Home+Power buttons together.

Okay i got the phone today and it was on 2.1. I updated it to AOKP just to test and it installed fine. But the sim card does not get found at all. I tried 2 sim cards that work in my sg2.
If there any place I can check to see if the phone has actually been locked to use?

Sometimes problems like this can be caused by framework-res.apk. Try flashing a custom ROM and see if it works.

If I'm not wrong, AOKP is an ICS ROM, and I'd read that ICS has a bug and don't see the sim card untill you remove the pin.

Wont work without disabling Pin on SIM.

i'm gonna quote the solution i had with the exact same problem when my emei got corrupted:
marcel i found out what was teh problem corrupted EMEI - efs....
i was lucky enough to have a nv_data.bin backed up in my sd from ages ago!
i dowloaded an efs.tar flashed it through odin and then copy nv_data.bin from sd -> /efs and then
chown 1001:1001 /efs/nv_data.bin
i inserted my sim and VOILAAA!!! this is a know problem with cm7 and since someone will get this problem these are the links that will solve the problem:

Root 4.0.4 ics {Arc lt15i} LOCKED BOOTLOADERS

The following is for those who have locked bootloaders ie :- NO fast/hotboot option available
needed :-
flashtool by androxyde needed to make all this possible can be downloaded from http://androxyde.github.com/Flashtool/
flash 4.0.4.lt 15i generic fr ftf then use the kernal from the lt18i ics 4.0.3. flash only kernal so thats kernal sin loader sin only and dont wipe data or cash
full 4.0.3 lt18 562 ftf for kernal for rooting

to use the script on handset goto settings developer options top option tick the check box make sure your computer has already or is installing drivers for adb etc etc click the run me inside the package once u have extracted it to somewhere on your desktop or somewhere else u put it and thats it it will restart ur fone a few times and run the root for u theres nothing else to do sept sit down for 20 seconds

*** as mentioned i found that the 2nd root package doesnt need to be done however i found that it was a little quicker to respond to apps than the other this one popps up with 8 secs left to press button but other i found to be a little laggy even after an update from market poping up after like 4 secs of pressing root apk request with only 3 seconds left to choose grant/deny,
2 other things i found with the french 4.0.4 there was an apn stored in there via default and if u try to delete or edit it or discard it then got to home screen and try to go back to apn's it crashes settings however i was still able to make calls recieve n send text go on webb via mobile currier but had emergency calls displayed in the quick panel
the other was when selecting network it takes some time loading them and if u press on the screen b4 it brings any network up it will just send u bk to the previous screen having to start the whole thing again lol well anoying best to just wait or ajust screen time out maybe ?? easy solution
instalation ov busy box seems optional m not linking any to the thread tho there are several available on the market choose ur own preferance =)

and when using Root_Exploit_OneClick first, it gives permission denied,etc with my phone being restarted 2-3 times..
when i be in fast boot i am getting error , any help? without unlocking bootloader will i be able to get root on arc s ?

its for an app thats available in the market anyway its the nobody at all cwm installer u can also find it in the themes and apps section unless they removed it or try using se xtreem tweek that instals cwm also i believ cant realy remember been a while since i used it

i dont own an arc S so cant test this for u on that but this kernal came from the arc S i used to root so i thikn maybe it should work for you try root the fone using arc S 403 kernal and feed back thats all i can say mind if it dont work repair using seus

extract it to a file on your desk top click runme make sure adb turned on on fone settings dev optons usb debug enable it will run and do evry thing itself might be advizable to turn off antivirus and stuff

in your phon goto settings then developer options top option says usb debugging tick the box make sure your pc installs the drivers for it if it doesnt open up sony pc companion and it will install the drivers wen u connect the fone then close pc companion and use the script

[Q] V2.3 upgrade error and wifi error

yesterday i upgraded my x5 u8800 pro from 2.2.2 to 2.3.5 (Kernel V2.6.35.7 and U8800V100R001C00B526G001) after 2-3 tries. After i switched on my phone i noticed that my wifi isn't working. I searched many forums and i saw that other people had the same problem too with v2.3.5. I tried everything but i can't fix it.
Another problem is that i can't upgrade my phone from 2.3.5 to 4.0. After many tries i managed to start the procedure of step 1 (format the sd card put the dload file in and press - + and power on). Most of the times after pressing the 3 buttons AT THE SAME TIME my freaking phone simple opens and asks for my PIN. Any ideas?

I have the same problem on the same phone. Did you solve your problem, because I would like to use your more then 1 year long searching for the answer. I also at the begining of the search blamed my SD card. I have sleepless nights, but no idea brought me solution of the problem.

As I know , this firmware is not Oversea. Oversea Normal fw is: U8800V100R001C00B521_Oversea_Normal . This happened to me. No WiFi anymore. How could I revert this installation from B526G001 to 2.2.2(stock ROM). From there to 2.3.5 Oversea Normal and then ICS.
The main problem for me is how to return to stock ROM?

did u guys check ur wifi mac adress? go to settings about phone status. if it's 00:00:00:00:00 then u need to change it with a terminal emulator (requires root)

I suceeded
I was warned to choose ROM for 2.3 , which ends with 512. I took ROM
U8800Pro V100R001C00B512G001(Gingerbread) Firmware has to be 512!!!!
The most important advice for me was
Make a “dload” directory on SD card root directory , Copy the “Step 1\
dload\UPDATE.APP” and “Step 1\ dload\UPDATE_g.APP” to SD card
“dload\UPDATE_g.APP[”.
I copied UPDATE.APP to SD card in dload folder but didn't rename the file into UPDATE_g.APP!!!! I didn't understand the instructions corectly.
After that Settings/Storage/Software Upgrade
The next step is without renaming UPDATE.APP.
I didn't need step 3, because I don't speak Chineese.
After that relevation everything went smoothly and problemless.
After that upgrade to 4.0 went ok without any problem.

[Q] U8800-51 CR GB Read-Only Mass Storage and wrong IMEI

Well, Hi!
A little history before the real problem.
My girlfriend bought a U8800-51 phone by my recommendations, because it's a great phone in this range of prices.
The phone had a problem. It reboot many times in a day (10~20 times) So I decided to upgrade the OS to GB with the gingermovida v1.1 ROM.
The phone stopped in the bootanimation secuence. I tried 5 times with the same result.
I downloaded the official 2.2.2 ROM from the Huawei website and put it in the SD card. I turned on the phone in download mode and started the install secuence. But stopped in the 2/2 step with the "Update Failed" message.
I tried to enter in recovery mode without success, with 5 different "recovery.img" files. In a thread in this forum somebody explained a method to back to stock froyo ROM using a .img file and the Roadkil's Disk Image tool, but with a AT&T img file.
My brother has the same phone so i made a backup of his phone and put it in my girlfriend phone. Everything works great! Boot OS and load all the information, 3G work and USB Mass storage work, so I did a wipe data - factory reset and everyrhing works again.
At this point I discovered that the IMEI is the same of my brother's phone. I tried many different tricks or tutorials (QPST, CDMA Tool, DFS, AT Command in Terminal, etc) and nothing changed. In the last try I upgraded the OS using CM7 movida v2 and 3G works, WiFi works, but I still have the same IMEI and a new problem came out. When I plug the USB cable and activate the Mass Storage Mode, only shows a Read Only CD drive with all SD Card files.
In the stock froyo ROM I went to the "Project Menu" and changed the USB options, but I can't remember in what option I leave it. In this ROM (CM7 movida v2) i can't go to this menu and check if I have the same Stock ROM configuration.
Besides, I didn't backed up my GF'S IMEI. So I don't know if it can be recovered.
She's gonna kill me, so I need a little help ASAP!
That's all. So here's the thing:
- I have the same IMEI of my brother's phone.
- Everything works except for the Read-Only Mass Storage Mode.
P.S: I don't know if the different driver that I installed affect something here.

Try to upgrade your phone, puting dload folder on sdcard, maybe it can fix your IMEI. About the mounting, I dont know what is happening, but maybe if you upgrade your OS, it will work fine..

What ROM can I use? The Official Huawei ROM (Movilnet U8800-51) didn't work (to solve the IMEI problem) If I try to downgrade using that ROM the phone stop in the 2 step and then I will need to do everything again.

Well, that ROM is for PRO version of the U8800 phone and I have the U8800-51 version. Baseband and other thing are different between versions. I will try the steps of your link when my girlfriend let me try again

that's why I don't share backup. The fw on the -51 is tightly locked. I'm surprised they allowed pink screen. Your better off going for warranty. Unless, you can open the background password. I'll look for an alternative fix.

Help !! *Bricked S10+ Andriod 9.0*

So, I had a rooted S10+ , using Magisk root. Running andriod 9.0, Recently i used an app from google store to put an installed apk file into /system/apps, And then I reeboted voila, The mobile keeps bootlooping into the screen where it says "Samsung galaxy s10+ Secured by Knox, " and the light of the screen dims,... And Restarts after a while.
I AM ABLE TO get into RECOVERY MODE. Tried Wiping data and Cache.
I TRIED GOING INTO DOWNLOAD MODE. BUT it doesnt work. Tried inserting the Cable, powering off via Recovery and then Tried Vol Down + Bixby +Power,
Everything, But wont go into Download mode.
I do know a little about rooting and stuff .. I mean i can use Odin .. I have the firmwares for the device, Is there a way to Install the Firmware using sd card? or like What do i do next? IM Literally Panicking.. I mean the device is pretty new and expensive XD.

Well let's try two things
If your data is important to you try to install custom ROM via TWRP
And if not try to reset factory from TWRP
I don't think that you BRICKED! your phone
It only causes from flashing wrong model firmware
And I think the best way is install custom ROM(do a full wipe)(see completely clear tutorial videos to install it right)and after system booted you can install stock ROM again

At if your completely know that you BRICKED it(that I don't think) you can easily request debrick.img and install it from SD card
So be relax dude

I assume that you must have installed magisk module like app systemizer or any other like that to convert system app?
Just have to uninstall certain module from twrp using twrp file manager. Reboot it will boot.
OR
You can use read my thread in guide section " upgrade downgrade without losing data" i mentioned in detail and also some links to ready magisk patched firmwares.

So Thank you so much for replying, It gave me hope , I went to a Fixit guy, He I HAVE TOTALLY NO IDEA What he did,
Since i couldnt reach Download Mode, I got him to fix it, now ...
I am running my phone. Everything looks good, The warning of root at the start disappeared and the software starts normally.
There is 1 issue. I am still unable to run samsung secure folder (type apps , i think its because i did once root the phone), Secondly.
I updated my Phone to the new Andriod version and it bricked again ? (got restored by the same guy again), So like , can someone tell me what might be causing this ?
Should i Enable Debug, Go download mode and Reinstall the Original Firmware that I patched before with magisk? like (I compared the Baseband version and Build Version of the new installed software its not same as my original phone ? Maybe this is causing it not to software update? )
I dunno The Sideefffects of once rooting the phone? I mean can i ever get the old default non rooted phone back? I hope you someone understands what im trying to ask ? Like Should i Default firmware it ? or just keep using it ? will i gain something? like Will i be able to update the software?
(NOTE: I dont need root anymore . Im done with it.)

Once rooted, secure folder will not work anymore. If you are using Android 9 then use custom ROM because there is fixes there for Secure Folder. If on Android 10 then forget about it and wait until dev fix.
And for other questions, it sounds like you are newbie and didn't know anything about it until now. I would suggest to read some article here, explore about some magisk that what its, Bootloader ... how to unlock Bootloader etc. Trust me one day you will become dev. Good Luck

What i am asking is, I think something is wrong. I cant use Netflix , It was working before (when rooted), So i want to know, Should i Use ODIN to Put my Original (UNPATCHED) Firmware in this phone?
And If i do agree to proceed, (My Boot loader is unlocked permanently btw in developer options),
I just have to put it on download, connect pc open odin add the original files and run it ? and when start wipe data and cache. is that is ? Am i missing something can you please confirm sir? and these files only right?
"AP, BL, CP and CSC (I also have HOME file should i also attach that?)
Can you recommend me a tutorial to follow via odin, Restoring my Original Firmware back ? In s10+ please? Ill be grateful to you.
