Skyrim on windows 8 - Windows 8 General

Hi,
Ive got skyrim downloaded on the Windows 8 RP. I went through each installer by hand to make sure they would work, the dotnetfx35setup.exe wont run. No errors or other ideas of what is happening. I can get the to launch screen but after that nothing.
Any ideas?

Follow the instructions an reinstall the game.

Windows 7

Hey guys,
Reviewed alot of the posts here, but can't find out what the status is with the native functionality of cell modem access on Win 7...
I just got Windows 7 Pro installed (it isn't the beta, or hacked, it's retail), Everything is working (touchscreen, aero, etc...) with the exception of the native cell modem internet sharing.
I do know there is a hack by using the USB tool to get it working, however I'm just curious if anyone has it working the proper way as intended by HTC?
I'm noticing there are no devices missing drivers in the device manager, the HTC control app works fine, and even can control the modem on the snapvue side of things...
But there is still no "virtual" network adapater inside of the Network adapters on the system...
Scratch that...
I'm a tool. My shift has been sitting for 6 months after not being used until today when I decided to upgrade...
Totally forgot the virtual adapter only shows when no other connections are present...
Everything is working now
Hi!
How did you get the TS to work?
I've been trying to get the touchscreen to work with the latest W7 but no soceess. I've followed the guide on XDA and all tips on XDA but no sucess.
Could you maybe write down how you did even if it was just a regular installation? I've reinstalled and all but the ts just won't work!

To be honest, I was an idiot and had a horrible install... Here's what I did if you dare try..
1. Install all the drivers (NOT using compatibility mode and "Run as Admin")
Only a few things worked, it was horrible...
2. Re-installed ALL the drivers, using the list that HTC recomends. Keep in mind that the device manager will show some of the devices as not working, after you install all the drivers in Compatibility mode, along with "Run as admin". Go to the Device manager, and right click on all the problemtic devices and select "Uninstall".
3. Restart the computer, then Aero will start bluescreening and crashing. Boot into safemode (with networking). Go to the device manager and disable both Video card adapater shown.
4. restart and go to Intel's website and download the latest Chipset INF installer, and Video drivers for windows 7. Install the Chipset INI first, then video drivers...
5. At this point I can't remember but I thinnk the touchscreen didn't work. I just ran the Touchscreen installer one last time, and BANG it worked...
Sorry for my horrible instructions, it was a messy install, but everything is working for me now.
Thanks!
I't looks similar to how i've been fooling around with my shift.
Well, at least it's gratifying to know that i may get it to work if keep messing with it

Hi just have a quick question: When you upgraded your vista to Win 7, do you used the upgraded disk or start from the OEM win 7?
I actually didn't upgrade.
I used a Open Business Volume disc I have that was issued to my company. I guess it's the same thing as a retail copy.
I did a fresh install.

Thanks! It is OEM Disk. And one more think are you install the Win 7 pro or the ultimate? Thanks again. I really appreciate your help.
I could be wrong, but I think I did Win 7 Pro
Thanks again...I will try to install win7 pro on mine. I think 7 ultimate for Shift is too much coz the processor itself is only 800Mhz.

SDK Issues

Alright, so the issue is... I have the SDK... and it won't work on either of the operating systems I run. I am running Ubuntu 9.10 and Windows 7, both 64bit. There are two main aspects I am after with it. Using DDMS to take screenshots and mess with stuff on devices, and the virtual Android system. On Ubuntu, DDMS comes up, but it shows my device as just ?????? and I am unable to do anything. I have already tried putting in the rules thing I found all over google, and it has done nothing. The correct IDs were in as well. On Windows, why I try to use it... it pops up with a command prompt screen for a split second and does nothing. On both Ubuntu and Windows, when I try to use a virtual device, all it does is crashes. This is with all different settings. So, is there anyone that can help me out with these issues? I just spent 3 hours of google searching to no avail. None of the fixes or anything I have found made any difference. Well... that's not true... one of them made DDMS not work at all... but that just needed to be restored. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Update: Doesn't work on my gf's laptop which has Xp either... wtf DOES this run on?
I run the sdk on my win7 32 bit desktop. It runs in eclipse

make your WINCE CAB MANAGER work in WIN 7!

since win 7 was published, WINCE CAB MANAGER seems to give up on updating itself to be compatable in win 7. After the installation, no matter how you run it, whether under comapatable mode of winxp sp2 or not, it never works properly.
today, i found how to make it work!
it's really simply, though.
right click the install file, then run it under the compatable mode of winxp sp2, and then, it's done!
remember you have to run the compatable when installing. then you can double click on the program to run as you do to other programs in win 7.

Their have been a couple of programs that i have had to install in compatibility mode but they were games and i haven't had to do it for about a year

Can you run Windows 8 on VM on a w7 system?

Has anyone tried to run the Win 8 developer preview on a VM under Windows 7? If so, how does it run?
works fine on virtualbox
runs fairly smooth but im not allocating a lot of resources to it so it would run better with more power
I gave it one core of an i7 and 1GB ram in virtualbox and it runs pretty smooth.
Thanks guys.
As soon as I can figure out how to remove win 8 dual boot from my laptop I am going to try the VM. Right now it crashes when it cannot find the external drive on boot. Anyone know which files I have to restore so that the system does not come up with the Win startup screens?
I couldn't get it to work with VMware 7, so I just used VirtualBox and it worked.

Make sure your computer's virtualization is turned on. I don't remember what the exact name was, but go to your bios and check for virtualization and make sure it says "enabled".

Follow this guide:
http://www.sysprobs.com/guide-install-windows-8-virtualbox
I was getting errors until I followed that guide. It worked perfectly after that.
w8 only works. with vmware version 8. If you got the driver boot error try this:
1. create new vm (disable automatic start)
2. deactivate floppy drive
3. start vm
thx for the info I was wondering if it works on virtualbox I guess I something to do today

Windows 8 Installation keeps failing?

Hi all, I bought windows 8 online today (download) and I tried installing it. Everything seems to work alright but then when it finally finished installing, I got the Windows 8 style bluescreen, a reboot, then it rolled back to Windows 7 telling me it couldn't install.
I'm trying to Install with keeping all my files/data but it happened a second time. Any advice? What am I doing wrong?

Do you have any error codes when this happens. I had numerous problems upgrading pc's and eventually got all of them worked out. How far through the process did you make it???
I had this same problem with an Asus p8z68 motherboard. The fix was to install the windows 8 drivers for the mb while in w7 before running the W8 installation.

Don't want to clean install though Q_Q All my music...too much pain. Do you think making a partition for it would fix my problems?

If your computer is an off the shelf model built by one of the major manufacturers I would get the drivers from them. They may even have the steps that you would need to do to get your machine ready for Windows 8.
If you or someone else built the computer from scratch go to the manufacturer of the motherboard and get the drivers from them for your specific motherboard. Hopefully they have developed the drivers for Windows 8 by now.

I partitioned my hard drive to clean install and I have no problems. Also if you have data you don't want to lose shouldn't you get like an external or online backup?
HP website: "If you purchased your computer prior to October 1st , 2011, HP has not tested or developed drivers for your model computer. Therefore an upgrade of your computer may be difficult or impossible."
Got this computer in April 2011 Guess I can't get the drivers. Would a full wipe update work for sure?
My computer works perfectly fine without lenovo drivers. Yours should at least be functional without hp ones (unless you have an amd graphics card maybe).

Nvm, I fixed it I used some windows update readiness checker and uninstalled my avg antivirus. After that, when I installed, it finally asked for my product key and I'm enjoying Windows 8 atm. I can't believe people are complaining about this, it's perfect even for laptops.
