I am booting off American Android from my SD card, and I am getting force close errors for the following applications:
com.koushidutta.rommanager (when I boot up)
com.google.android.apps.maps
something about theme manager
at.mysandbox.android.wifi.tether (when I enable wifi)
com.google.android.apps.genie.geniewidget (when I go to clock)
When I turn on wifi, it doesn't do anything.
Also, when I restart, nothing saves. All of my changes(deleting widgets, changing wallpaper) do not persist between restarts.
I tried to do the fix permissions from ROM manager, but that does not help at all.

Always make few reboots before installing any apps or start to tweak system parameters.
I would start now from the scratch and format first the sdcard using SDFormatter, as I understood you didn't put too much effort's till now into that build.

i have FroyoStone Series - V1][Kernel: manusfreedom 2.6.32.9 #74]
with chunky rom
and dual boot app
everything was fine untill the battery died
i plugged the phone in and tried to start android
loaded launcher pro and few apps crashed
i restarted and tried to load regular launcher but it kept crashing
now i load android and it boots up to lock screen
after that the loader app freezes and shuts down right away
i cant find where to reset the setting for it to let me choose the launcher pro again.
These instructions are assuming you can get to the settings menu. Go into settings -> applications -> manage applications choose launcher pro -> tap clear defaults-> tap clear data-> press home then it should ask you weather you would like to use launcher or launcher pro.
p.s. (these instructions were given from memory so they might be slightly off)
nope cant even go to settings. it crashes instantly after unlock screen.
Just backup the data.img file and replace the Android folder again.
I had this occur to me once before... couldn't do anything about it.

Had to start again
Hey all,
TMobile HD2
ChuckyRom
Froyostone 3.2
Everything runs fine and then after a reboot (or sometimes not), apps start to not work and I have to force close them. Or app settings get lost, or I get "application is no longer installed on your phone".
A re-install of the apps temporary fixes it, but they crash again after a certain point.
Any ideas why this happens / fixes?
Thanks!
Jon

1. If you're running an overclocked/undervolted kernel, then don't!
2. Try not to reset the phone in Android. Make sure you shut it down.
3. Run "fix_permissions" for a shell. (Google if you don't know how).
I always shutdown my phone (unless it resets on its own which hapened a few times).
Not running an other kernel than what froyostone 3.2 came with.
"fix_permissions" looked like it would have worked, but no dice. I ran it and restarted the phone and more force errors appeared.
I guess its time to start fresh again. Can anyone recommend a different build than darkstone's? (mdeejay, etc...)

this happened to me when i formatted with 64KB on FAT32
i rebuilt my whole android on 32KB on FAT32 and everything is working fine
I updated my nook color firmware to 1.41 and then installed the latest CyanogenMod. The nook color boots but I keep getting the message "The process android.process.media has stopped unexpectedly." I have searched the internet and forums without success. I can not access the apps market.
Any help would be appreciated.

First I'd Fix Permissions on CWM. No help? Then try this:
Settings > Applications > Manage Applications >
Then make sure you look under the all tab. The downloaded tab is the default for me.
It is called Google Services Framework and you clear the data for this one and cache for market.
Start Nook Color Tools.
Select the “All Settings” button.
Unplug your NOOKcolor from computer. (If Plugged in.)
Choose “Manage Applications” from the list.
Select the “All” tab.
Scroll down to “Market” and select it.
Tap “Force stop”.
Tap “Clear cache”.
Tap the Back button if you have SoftKeys running, else swipe right to left on the status bar at the bottom of the screen (from the clock to the book icon).
Scroll up to “Google Services Framework” and select it.
Tap “Clear data”.
Tap “OK”.
Tap “Force stop”.
Press the n button to return to your launcher.
Start Market.
At the “An error has occurred” message, tap “OK”.
Hold your power button to turn off your NOOK Color from the menu.
Turn your NOOK Color back on and give it a moment to find your WiFi connection.
Start Market again, and the problem should be resolved.
I updated my nook color firmware to 1.41 and then installed the latest CyanogenMod.

Installed it where? To boot from a SD card? If you installed it internally you didn't need to upgrade to 1.4.1 as it wipes it anyway. How did you install CM7? What version of CWR are you using? What version of CM7?
Still Not working
Skeeterpro and patruns,
I tried all your suggestions and still no luck.
I installed the following:
CyanogenMod-7-11162011-Nightly-encore
Android version 2.3.7
Build GWK74
I used an SD card and installed it internally. It does not run from the SD card. I used an installer program call ClockworkMod v3.0.2.8 to do the installations.
Thanks,
Jim

That is an old version of CWR. It does not perfomr a complete wipe. Use this one and make sure you wipe/format cache, data, system and Davlik: http://www.multiupload.com/N5C1846GH3

i have the same problem ...how can i fix this ????
I had this problem when I was using an old a-data card after I put a bunch of pictures on it. I tried resinstalling, etc, and nothing helped, even deleting the image files. I eventually installed CM7 to internal/emmc and never had the problem again. If that's not an option, you may want to try a new Sandisk card (if you're currently using something else).
Thanks for the help...it fixed my problem of "android.process.media has stopped unexpectedly" on my LG Optimus 2X when opening Gallery.

I was getting this same error message on my nook color.
Turns out I had forgotten to do a full wipe before the CM9 install. Coming from stock.
If you're an idiot like me then retry it, wiping first (like patruns said), especially if you're coming from stock, since...duh...
thanks patruns!
android.process.media
I hate to ressurect an old thread, but I'm having the same issue with my nook. I've installed CM 7.2.0 on my nook after having this problem. I assumed that it must be an issue with the SD card since nothing I did fixed the problem. Now that the CM is on the tablet proper, it's still popping up. I did everything in the step-by-step given earlier, to no avail.
I'm using TWRP as my booter rather than CWM.

I just ran into the "android.process.media has stopped unexpectedly" loop myself after downgrading from a CM11 nightly to CM10.2.1 (Simpson's Tapped Out wouldn't work on CM11 ) . Opening Google Play Store consistently caused it and closed the play store app before I could interact with it.
I managed to fix it by formatting my uSD card back to FAT32 (along with the various formats etc for a fresh install that didn't work on their own).
I suspect the root cause was formatting my uSD card to exFAT as part of the upgrade to CM11.
I´m experience, since 2 months ago, rebooting the phone and losing all the phone´s info.
Since I´m only into Android ROMs, I install my select ROM (BoyPPC, Mwakious, Sense, MIUI, etc.) according to the chef/developers instruction.
After some reboots, I start to install apps (task killer, 3g watchdog, myphoneexplorer, games, and others). Some apps go to SD (ap2sd) and I still have plenty of space for further app installations.
No problem until here.
The problem starts when I decide to do a reboot, "just to settle" all things, after 8 or 10h of usage.
When I enter the PIN, there are always some errors, like "Sense stopped working" or "Weather stop responding" or whatever. The several screens are clean of widgets and shortcuts. There are no contacts or calendar data.
And I cannot add widgets, just app shortcuts.
Mtty1.42 doesn´t report any bad blocks.
Any ideas?
try disabling the login pin, , then you can see if that is the cause.

Thanks, but I really need that security feature.
[Edit] I get the following erors (stopped unexpectedly) when I wipe Dalvik cache and fix permissions:
com.google.android.youtube
net.rgruet.android.g3watchdogpro
android.process.acore
Is it possible that mtty is wrong and I do have bad blocks?
Did you try flashing the roms more than once to get rid of errors?

Yes, and it seems to be a connection between uploading phonebook/sms/calendar data and freezing at reboot. But I´m not sure.
I´ve choosen a bit old, but stable ROM (BOYPPC MIUI V35 CLK) and it´s the second time I install it and crashes. I haven´t moved apps to SD yet, so it can´t be the SD card.
I also suspect from Advance Task Killer and 3G Watchdog. But i need these two kind of apps to control traffic and release memory.
This is a inglorious quest, like finding a needle in the...
If only I could access some sort of log ...
I will insist in a 3rd install of this ROM (very ligh 150-5), this time I will not install any apps before a couple of reboots and all-around testing.
Still have the same problem.
Severall ROMs and the same outcome. Have to wipe Dalvik cache and fix permissions. Sometimes it only stables after restoring to factory default.
I will do a install without a SD Card and give it a spin for a couple of days.
I´m just going nuts with this.
Anyone? Still having severe issues...
----
I have very happily used Cyanogenmod 11 on a Samsung S4 GT-I9505 for many years. Now suddenly after an apparently harmless update of a few Apps (gmail, youtube, firefox and a few more small ones), apps on my phone keep crashing whenever it accesses some deeper app info. Sometimes they even reboot my phone.
Symptoms: With a SIM card, the phone will crash and reboot right after entering the PIN for the SIM card. Without a SIM card, I can get to the lock screen, enter my unlock gesture and then see many, many messages that Trebuchet has crashed. Leaving the phone turned on for a night will result in a working Trebuchet launcher from which I can run most apps, but accessing Settings > Apps, for example, will briefly show the Apps and then crash Settings. Titanium Backup will run for about a minute while "Building data freshness information..." and then crash TB, sometimes even reboot the phone. Dragging an app icon from the launcher onto "App Info" will briefly display the app info while computing disk space and then crash. So I cannot reset cache or app data on the phone itself (I can through adb, though).
What I tried so far: Installed three other launchers but they showed the same symptoms, one even directly rebooted the phone. I booted into recovery and reset the Dalvik cache and let CM rebuild the app details on restart with no apparent positive effect. I tried removing the SD card but did not see any positive effect either. Booting into Safe Mode did not help, I still see systemui and trebuchet crashing upon restart. Also clearing the app data for Trebuchet (through 'adb shell pm clear com.cyanogenmod.trebuchet') did not remove the crashes.
Some more details: I have about 300 apps installed. Internal storage has about 1GB free, the SD card has 400MB available. I can connect to the phone via adb, but 'adb backup' produces only an empty file. I can run Play Store, list my apps, install updates. This is a Samsung S4 GT-I9505 running Cyanogenmod 11.0 based on Android 4.4.4.
Any help would be much appreciated! Moving all my apps and their settings to a new phone or a new OS would be a very big effort which I very much would like to avoid.
Thank you very much in advance!
PS: What would be the best way to make a full backup of the phone before trying out a new ROM?

I guess problem might be with update package. As of best way of backup, I use titanium background and it's pretty good!
Everyone's requirements and usage is different so you might try something else as well.

As mentioned, Titanium Backup is one of those apps that crashes.
Any other suggestions what I could do to get rid of those crashes?
Just in case someone else reads this - after a lot of trial and error, I was able to identify a single app (ISS Detector) as the culprit. Uninstalling the app removed all the crashes. Re-installing it would crash-boot the phone immediately after the install was complete!
I have NO IDEA why a normal app would be able to crash the entire OS but I am glad to be able to use my phone again.
