Change All Tile Colors? - Windows 8 General

Is there any way to change the tile color of all Metro applications? I prefer the way that Windows Phone handles it with an "accent" color instead of a mishmash of random colors set by application developers. I'm sure someone's asked this before, but I was having a hard time finding an answer.
Thanks.

Clock widget, similar to the android lock screen

Is there a widget/widget combination, which looks like the clock you get when you do the unlock pattern. I really like the font. I also attached an image of a lock screen (I think the default android lock screen)which uses the same font.
I tried searching but looks like this is just too much for a search engine to figure out.
Thank you for the help.
I think the "beautiful widgets" clock uses the same font.

I think the beautiful widgets is not free, which means I can't install it legally, I can't pay for apps in my country, and the marker only shows free ones. Using the barcode scanner from the original site didn't work either.

Yes, it costs ~ 2$. I didn't know they were legal issues with paying on market in some countries. Too bad Where are you from ?
My clumsy English made that sound wrong...
It's not illegal as you get in jail, it's just not supported, enabled or allowed. By illegal I meant the only way for me to get that app is, you know, warez and stuff. The country is Slovenia.
Update: I found that the font for the desired clock is Clockopia, a subset of Storopia.
The quiestion is, is there a clock widget that allows you to select a font?
Hello. I have made a clock widget witch uses clockopia font. Tell me if you are interrestet. It is not on the market.

I would be very interested in this clock if it has configurable colors and background Maybe add a transparent black background like the themes in Minimalistic Black:

It's awesome, just the beautiful font and no extra fuss. Brilliant!

Thanx for sharing
Thank you for letting us test this app.
Here is a little feedback, don't take it the wrong way, I believe that you want to improve your app .
1. The clock is smaller than the area it uses (the 2x1 grid is filled about 50%, this makes the clock really small and there is a lot of unused space around it.),
2. I notice it is sometimes "out of sync". It isn't much of a problem because I've never seen be more than a minute away.
Please, do not take this as offensive criticism, I want to help you in your development of this great project.
Thanks again and keep up the good work!

It seems that i might not be the right version you got.
The current version uses 4x1 layout, and updates every .5 minute.
I'm using the one you uploaded here. I will try to redownload and reinstall and report back.
PS: because it updates every 30s, it can sometimes display as a minute off (compared to the system clock in the top right.)

A lot of work.. I was gonna try to invert them, but then I found that not only has samsung gone with their way of qmgs, but they also decided to screw everyone over with some type of file called astc that can't be decompiled
I found a workaround, but it's really up to you on how you use it, but...
You can set your home button to invert the colours with a triple tap. The setting is in accessibility. This is really handy when browsing the web, but not so much with "in and out" app use. I'm almost certain you can get tasker to invert apps using this method for specific apps you need inverted, and then return to normal when you exit those apps.

LG V20 Second screen App icons get really small

Hi,
My second screen app icons periodically get really small (and kinda ugly) for no apparent reason. Then they get back to normal size also rather randomly. One way to get them back to normal is to turn off and on app icons.
I have no idea why this happens, and I don't even know how to take a screenshot of the second screen to show what it looks like.
Details: LG H990ds. Sept 2017 Android 7 running. Unrooted.

I am working on mods for second screen(currently have partial text color control) and would like to see what your talking about?
This post has instructions for added Second screen to screenshots.
Also, it seems like I may have seen a setting for on/off app icons, but can't recall where?
Install another theme.this is unofficial themes issue.

What is this potato you speak of? Haha
This is 100% a theming property. I wouldn't really say "issue" or "error" as much as I would say mistake, and that's o lt in the eye of the beholder.
This is a value setting within the theme itself.
The themer has set the theme to draw app icons on top of a series of backgrounds and they set the icon to be drawn at a percentage of the default app icon.
What I'm saying is the theme will, in this case, reduce the app icon to a smaller size then place it on top of one of the themes bg's.
Some icons have bg's as part of the actual app icon and some have only the icon (see attatched samples). Obviously icons that do not have a bg will blend into themes easier because the themes bg option will look more intended.
There are several options to fix this, but only one being easy.
1. The easy one does not get to keep the theme, you must change the theme to something that is visually acceptable to you
2. This is an option for users that have some experiance swapping images in an apk. Find the app which has an icon you don't like and use 7zip to open the apk and swap the image for one that appeals to your taste. Problem here is that thing can get overridden every time the apps gets updates. This can also trigger package errors due to signatures values and changes from original size.
3. Knowledge or modding a decompiles apk using apktool is required for this one.
Located the themes common.apk and decompile it.
Within the decompiled folders you will find a values folder, open the integer.xml and change this value to the value that fits your needs best (100 being 100% or the full original size) <integer name="config_icon_ratio_as_theme">65</integer>.
There are other ways that can do what you are wanting done, you just have to get creative with it!
You ask "how to take screenshots or second screen? You've asked this question twice now, obviously without reading the reply to the question the first time.
I persoanlly answered the question by pointing you to the link where you have options on how to add the feature you want.
This is a development community and i suggest spending a little more time reading and you'd be surprised with gow much you can find by doing a quick search.
So in summary, change you theme or learn to edit decompiled app with apktool.
Read every reply ro questions you ask so you and the people who take the time out of their days to answer you don't have to repeat themselves.
Hit the thanks button to post that givd you info that helps.
Good luck, good day and hope that sums up your question here

The problem is, this size keeps changing randomly. I haven't changed the theme in 2 months, but the size switches between the correct size and the tiny one every few days. The theme itself is the 'Default Black' theme that came with the phone.

I saw the comment, replied to the first part but happened to miss that part out. Thanks for that.
Attaching clearer pics to demonstrate the size difference.
Again it doesn't happen when the theme is applied. The theme has been applied from the beginning.. It's the dark one that came with the phone.. The problem comes and goes randomly.
Same here! Usually it happens when I've moved around an app icon, doesn't matter if it's moved onto the second screen or onto a homescreen.
A restart usually resets the size to normal.
u/stangdriver44 u/3mL : I have found the reason for this.
It's due to the modification of DPI I did on the main screen. It seems this setting is inherited by the second screen off and on. I just reduced my DPI further to 400 and the second screen icons got even smaller.
Others have also reported this issue. (As on this reddit thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/lgv20/comm...e_the_size_of_the_navigation_buttons/dnj6dko/)
Is there a way to de-link the DPI of the second screen with that of the first?
Im trying to reduce the size of those buttons, can youpeovide the dpi and resolution that you are at?

The one in the photo was at 420. I'm currently at 400, which makes for some really tiny icons.
EDIT: please note, that this resizing isn't constant, it gets turned on and off like a boolean such that sometimes it stays small, then returns to normal for a while.

[Q] Advanced Always On Display

Hey guys,
I was wondering if it was possible to modify the existing AOD for more options.
For example: I couldn't care less about the clock, I'm wearing and using a watch anyway.
It would be nice if one could lay his smartphone onto the table with it beeing completly black except when you have notifications.
Something like in the picture I've quickly put together.
http://www.directupload.net/file/d/4959/6ckdllab_png.htm
Are there any roms which support this? Is it even possible to modify the Samsung AOD in that way or would one have to write a new app?
For now im using a black screen with the LED but that's suboptimal.
Thank you very much,
Chilz0r
Edit: Image
There are some themes available from Samsung Store but anything like you posted is currently not seen. Moreover, you should post questions in question/answer section. This section is not for question or discussion purpose.

Yeah I just took any picture on the internet and photoshopped it to show what I'm looking for.
This ambient display feature would be perfect if it would use the advantages of the S8 Display,
meaning lighting up particular pixels the whole time and not areas of the screen for a small time.

This answers my question, thank you.
But I'm curious now: would it be reasonable trying to programm such an app oneself,
or alternatively is it possible to get the Samsung AOD code to modify it?

This isn't bad if you try to build such app but AFAIK and untill now, it is nearly impossible to build such app. You probably won't get exact source code for AOD because most things are hard-coded. Even, if you manage to get code, modify it and build your desired app it will be hard or impossible to install it over pre-installed AOD app. Kind of complicated, but you can still try, maybe you end up being Samsung hero.

[Solved] Desktop Visualizer experts?

I am intrigued (and frustrated) by this very old post:
kelsoanim said:
Hey guys, I'm trying to find a way to get a book cover with link of your currently reading B&N book onto the launcher desktop. I've used Desktop Visualizer for this with Aldiko/Moon Reader/etc, which works great, but unfortunately it doesn't seem be able to access the stock reader app through it. Can anyone else think of a way to do this, maybe with the help of another app I'm not familiar with?
Click to collapse
This is something I have been thinking about for a long time and have rejected various schemes, including those involving Desktop Visualizer. I use the app to generate my home screen layout but am no expert in all its potentials. There is precious little about it online, and precious little info in this one, isolated post from 2012.
To me, this implies that there has to be some way to trigger a widget refresh when a new book is selected in whatever reader. I can't see how that is done. Oh, I could do the trigger business easily enough with Tasker, but the refresh? There is a manual refresh icon in the app, but that is not reasonable. Who would do that every time a new book was started?
So there must have been some other trick. Can anyone who is an expert on Desktop Visualizer shed some light on this?

I have an answer now, at least for me. Although the OP never mentioned Tasker, that appears to be one way out of this puzzle.
Tasker can use Desktop Visualizer as a plugin. I knew that before but I never paid any attention to it because it didn't seem to do anything I cared about. It can automate adding and removing "badges" from specific widgets. A "badge" is a little text bubble that might say "New" or perhaps "Now reading".
I began to wonder whether adding or removing badges would cause the entire widget icon image to refresh and....ta-da! It's silent and clean and the badges can be "blank" (that's how a badge is removed).
Now the fun begins. The rest is programming.
