Release preview's installer moves everything to C:\Windows.old. There is no official upgrade path from CP to RP.

Mango Beta cleanup update released

Hi, Microsoft released just now, via Zune, Mango beta Pre-cleanup update here in Italy. I have already installed on my Omnia 7 and now I think I must wait for official update.
The official update should come right after,I just install all three updates to the final.

I know it's already rolling out in the UK. I check every day and haven't found out anything. They usually don't announce it either, so my guess is before the end of 2012.
Mine is P3113. Looking forward to the OTA, too.

That makes me sad. It's been weeks since the UK rollout, and I haven't seen anything on my 5113. Really bizarre that it's available on new hardware but not available for download. Has anyone seen anymore information on this?

Here is the quote from Samsung Stuff authorized to answer questions online:
"There is no official firmware for any tablets. If you are using Kies and are not prompted to install any updates, there are none currently available for your device. A newer firmware may be installed on newer tablets at the factory, but we can only recommend you use Kies to obtain updates."
hey, Kies just offered me 4.1.1 on both our GT-P5113's! rockin and rollin.
it seems to have wiped the cf-root I had just done to 4.0.4
dont' care, too much new jellybean goodness to wanna mess with the magic just yet. :silly:
p.s. US model, regsistered here in California, using USB to connect to Kies on my PC.

Alrighty then, how does one use this Kies thing?? Does it mean I need to boot into windows? ugh if it does...
Also is there supposed to be something on the tablet already for kies? Or just the pc...
I guess I will try to boot windows in a little bit.
Can anyone confirm successful update through kies with a rooted device (p5113) and cwm recovery?
Can you also post a screenshot of device info, firmware/kernel etc?
Thanks

I had /just/ installed cf-root on my 4.0.4 when I discovered this, I haven't messed with cwm recovery so I'm not sure what that is, if it came in with the cf-root stuff, then I guess so. (kind of new to rooting)
here's the screenshot...

to the other question, Samsung Kies (pronounced kees) is windows based, and requires USB connection to do firmware updating, over wifi it won't even try. past that, I know nothing. I fired up Kies on my win8 desktop, plugged in the USB cable, it connected, and announced there was an update, do I want it. it downloads and installs the update automatically when you say 'yes'.
I've updated two P5113's now, mine (was root kitted but isn't at moment) and my wife's (not root kitted), both went smoothly.
(CWM) ClockworkMod recovery, it or twrp recovery is a custom recovery which is required to flash zip files ie ROMs, kernels and mods. I didn't do the cf root method, I installed cwm in Odin and then flashed a zip to get root access. I am familiar with kies, my question though, is it OK to run this update without the stock recovery etc?
Thanks

Yes, it is. P5113 Jelly Bean update on Kies (U.S.)
Argh.... now to keep working on getting windows to boot so I can try kies... silly vista and having to run the startup repair in order to boot.. so sad either sit through hours of updates that take over the computer to all ends including rebooting many times, or sit through now 2 hours and counting of trying to run over and over again the repair boot CD testing if it worked or not and if not running it again. One time it took me 7 times running the CD in order to boot into windows....
Wish there was more support for other operating systems to include linux....
Alrighty then... finally got into windows and downloaded and installed kies but now in rebooting before trying to update as thing's were not working after the install of kies so rebooting.. but guess what.. typical windows garbage now having to run the boot fix yet again... might be able to get the update done by the end of the week at this windows rate...
Finally on jelly bean... only took 3 hours give or take 15 minutes.. main problem was and will always be windows...
now to connect to see if kies recognizes it now

can't say I *EVER* ran Vista, but winXP, win7, win8 have never given me any such problems on dozens and dozens of systems.
the reason noone supports Linux is that Linux is not an operating system, its a collection of parts, no two systems are quite the same. resolving binary library version dependencies is a mess, unless everything is source code and gets custom compiled by the end user, and even then there are endless possible problems... oh wait, you have the wrong version Qt, and python 2.5 but we need 2.3 and .... arrrrrrgh. is the desktop gnome 2 or gnome 3 or kde X.Y or TWM or ..... ARRRRRRGH. Are the startup scripts debian or redhat or gentoo or .... <headbutt on desk>
personally, I wish that FreeBSD was more popular. far less insanity there.
anyways, off topic rant.

[Q] 'GT-N8010' does not support initialising

I'm on stock UK firmware but when I connect to Kies it doesn't give me the option to check for latest firmware? when i click on "firmware upgrade and initialisation" I get the error in the title of this thread? kies doesn't even show what firmware I'm running unless I connect with internet dongle unplugged, I'm running latest kies on windows 8 64bit and I get the error "the ordinal 7170 could not be located in the dynamic link library c:\program files (86)\ Samsung\kies\kiestrayagent.exe"
any ideas?

I've done that the last 3 times a new version of kies came out, I'm not on an upgrade of windows 8 I'm on a clean install
Some modded ROMs have Kies removed?
Windows 8 may be the problem?
Turn on/off USB debugging?
Try another USB port?
Don't use a USB hub.

no solution then?
Kies is a very flaky program. I never rely on it. This is the main reason i learned to download and flash official roms instead of waiting for updates via Kies. My hunch is that Samsung still has to improve the program for compatibility and stability on Windows 8. If you want to know what's the latest firmware version for your country try going to sammobile.com. They're pretty good at keeping a list of up-to-date firmwares (even beta leaks) which you can download and flash on your tablet.
Just my 2 cents.
Not so good anymore, the 8010 updates are nowhere on sammobile.
I was actually thinking that my device really doesn't support initialising lol.

that's because there is a difference between XXBMF1 and UEEMF1...they're not the same. One had an update available, one didn't.
Oh, I see: the version with the modem . Thanks for not flaming btw.
I hope they're prepping it up for a 4.2.2 update.

No prob . Actually I think those first three letters refer to the different country codes for the N5110 firmwares, not another model of the Note like the N5120 (the one with the modem). Different countries or regions may have their own variations and features for a particular model, like our N5110.
Xx is for international I believe. And we all know what xxx stands for. Joke hee hee corny I know.

If I'd root my note 8 will I be able to flash ota updates if I temp unroot with voodoo root keeper?
----------------------
Nexus 7 3G - Tapatalk
Just a quick note. This updated version does seem to resolve the freezing issues I had with the update over a week ago. I only found out there was an update when I connected the Note 8 to my Mac and waited for 10 minutes while KIES tried to find it (who wrote that software!!!). KIES eventually said there was an update so I tried to download it but it was taking ages so I tried on the Note 8 and it download immediately (at 56Kbps modem speed).
FYI : it is a UK international Note 8 used in Spain.
The U.S. Wi-Fi also got upped now, woke up to JZO54K.N5110UEEMF2 waiting to install .
Yes - it works for me

That's how I do it. Using Voodoo OTA RootKeeper. This AM I got the notice the software update was available. I run the "Temp.un-root" then installed the updates. This has worked for the last 3 updates; UEDMD1, UEEMF1, & UEEMF2. After updates finish, run the Root Restore.

Most likely that 7.0 was the last version to fully support 32 bit devices. Yes 7.1.1 works but it starts moving the code base to a 64 bit base which as seen causes issues for us on 32 bit devices.
works great, no bt or speakerphone issues for me
My phone has always been stock and never rooted. Since yesterday that I updated to the 7.1.1 April, I have not seen any lag or throttle that my nexus 6 had on all Nougat roms (7.0 Nov and 7.1.1Jan, Feb or Mar). Finally!!
Cool! Will probably flash it tonight! Thanks for the heads up!
Did it yesterday in Am. All good so far
Never mind

Because none of the US carriers have rolled 7.1 to phones on their systems.

Could be, but the nexus player, while it is a 64bit chip, is running 32bit flavor of android. And has the O dev preview.
T-moblie just pushed NBD92G to my phone (Android 7.0).
For some reason, I no longer recieve OTAs. I clean flashed the Feb 7.1.1 and haven't received an update ever since.
