[Q] Standalone Xbox Live Games Vs Xbox Live Hub - Windows 8 General

Well, in the Consumer preview we had Solitaire, Pinball FX2 and Hydro Thunder Hurricane Xbox Live Games, in Release Preview we have Fruit Ninja. But those games was published as Standalone apps and really don't use the Xbox Live features at all. I Know it's because Windows 8 it's not an actual Oficial Sell and Release of Microsoft but i think we need archievements and other Stuff we have normally on Xbox and Windows Phone games.
The base of this forum it's to ask you: Do you think that it's good to see Windows 8 Xbox live games as standalone Games? or it's better to have a "Xbox Live" hub where all the games are listed and we can see our friends, profile, archevements etc... exactly like Windows Phone 7?
For me it's more nice and better to have that Xbox Live Hub. More social, the actual "Xbox Games" app it's not really an utility.
What do you think?

I'm pretty sure that there will be more functionality introduced later on. I'm rather hoping that Xbox Live Games will be the new Games for Windows Live client honestly. I thought it would nice if they gave the ability to launch games from Xbox Live Games, sorta like a Steam/XFire competitor with Messaging, Game Launching (Maybe replace Windows 7's Game Explorer with it), etc.

games are no good while using the lapdock

i have yet to find a game that can be played properly on the lapdock. kind of sucks i was looking foward to playing games on a bigger screen ...
Not surprising considering many games don't run at tablet resolutions either. While the laptop dock is a nice idea it does not account (well) for the fact that most android software is written for phones and phone size screens. On top of that I think the laptop dock is clearly aimed at the productivity market, so game compatibility is likely just an afterthought if it was considered at all.
been playing games on the multimedia dock on an HDTV, and most play just fine for me. angry birds is flawless, and SNESoid plays smooth.
Actually SNESois on the TV with a Wii controller is awesome.

Best Apps/Games for Windows 8

Hey guys, so I have been running on Windows 8 for 4 days now and I love it. For some reason I hated the Metro UI in Consumer Preview but I love it in RTM, maybe because it's finally finished.
So I have been browsing the Windows Store and found some good apps that are worth downloading.
• Engadget
• Game Dev Tycoon - I HIGHLY recommend this game, too bad that it's only a Demo which lasts for about 30 minutes but it's a great sneek peek to the upcoming game for the Windows 8. I am sure that this will be the hit of Windows Store once it's released.
• Fruit Ninja - Oh, I am sure you know this one!
Post your favourite games or apps too
I don't wanna sound like a hater or anything like that but to me there aren't any good apps/games yet. Still waiting for the day Windows 8 is released and see if any good apps make it to the store.
Haven't found any good apps yet, fruit ninja metro lags like hell on my tablet (no idea why, the classic pc version worked fine).
And the Game Dev Tycoon is a rip-off from GameDev Story on android. Although I'd love to see if they're able to put something new into this kind of game beside the graphic.

Added a few more to that list - there are definitely more coming too!
Awesome Thank You! Yea excited to see more apps updated to work with the mojo. Really impressed by the power of the little guy.
Hello, I was wondering about these games.. Modern Combat 4, Dead on Arrival 2, NOVA 3, Dungeon Hunter 4? They are all listed on TegraZone and are controller enabled, so they should work right?

Not all games in the Tegra Zone are downloadable out of the play store for the Mojo. The Tegra Zone refers to apps that are designed to work with the Tegra gpu not specifically non touch screen interfaces. So amusingly the Tegra Zone app isn't available for the Mojo in the play store yet.
Nova 3 is on the list. I'll check the other games later tonight.

Oh I see.. well there has to be another way to get the apk's and that will work on the Mojo.. I'm considering buying one and i'd like to know if atleast MC4, Dungeon Hunter 4, and Dead on arrival 2 is compatible. If not it might be more worthwhile to get a Moga and a MHL cable.

We're working with Gameloft to get support for the C.T.R.L.R into their games and for them to update the manifest so that they appear on M.O.J.O. - Real Football 2013 just got updated so that's now on the list, MC4 is due shortly and Dungeon Hunter 4 will be available early next year, according to their info. There are many more titles coming and anything new from Gameloft that supports controllers should have support for M.O.J.O. and the C.T.R.L.R when they launch.
Dead On Arrival 2 is a bit of an odd one as it was available on M.O.J.O. a month or so ago but a recent update must have altered the manifest and resulted in it no longer appearing on M.O.J.O.. We've contacted the developers but had no response so far - it does work with the C.T.R.L.R though so were you to sideload the APK then it would work fine.
All of the .EMU apps are compatible and buttons are able to be mapped properly.
You mention office suite and archos video player. Do the paid versions also show up (I bought them in the past and would prefer to use the complete versions).
As for Archos not allowing the codecs there is a third party codec solution for archos, "Archos Video All Codecs". Does that one work?
Does SE Explorer work? (By work I mean show up in the play store, and if so is that including the unlock key?)
Other apps I am curious about (whether the piad versions show up in the app store):
Poweramp
VidTrim Pro
Autodesk Sketchbook (either the "mobile" or "pro" version, it would be more for viewing the stuff done on the tablet on a bigger screen to check it out).
Textmaker
AndrOpen Office
As I said, I'm more interested whether they show up in the store for easy installation as they're not exactly touch reliant and generally work well with a mouse.
Thanks for all your hard work with this list which is helpful for people who already have the MOJO and those interested in buying it (like me).
@solsearch:
Archos (full) is there and works great, the free codec pack isn't compatible, though. MadCatz supplies us with MX Player Pro through their website. I don't like it as much, but it'll do.
The only office program I've purchased is OfficeSuite 7 Pro, and it is natively compatible and works wonderfully.
Sketchbook Pro isn't available, though.

Thanks. I can always export the stuff from sketchbook so it just would have been nice but not a necessity.
I've purchased more than one office app because none of them are quite perfect. Though in my opinion OfficeSuite 7 Pro and Textmaker are the better ones (but with different strengths, which is why I tend to use Textmaker more). But since AndrOpen Office came out and it's free it should be fine, especially since you can just rip the APK from free files no problem.
Some additional games for your listing. All of which work fine with CTRLR:
Anomoly 2
Snow Spin
Fractal Combat
Choplifter HD
Burn Zombie Burn
The Conduit HD
Auralux
Zombie Driver THD
RPG Blazing Souls Accelate
Air Attack HD
Cyclone 2000

Another of the HyperDevBox strategy RPGs works well: Agarest War. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hyperdevbox.agarestwar I was able to install it through Play Store and it lets you map the CTRL^R however you want (but doesn't seem to recognize the triggers). I started the game but I'm not a big fan of SRPGs. Luckily, it was on sale, and quite affordable. (I think the normal price is one million dollars. Must be good!)

How did you get the buttons on the CTRLR to map? I couldn't figure it out. I tried options and put it in Key mode and it just doesn't register.
Also I can't get controller mode to work on Bard's Tale. Souls Craft seems to work perfectly fine.

Option, Right Arrow.
Click to change to Key mode. Then, click "Map Keys:"
It will begin displaying buttons to you, and you just press the button you want to use.
Bard's tale has to work! Ok, it's on my to-do list.

The Bard's Tale is fine - just tested it to make sure and the CTRLR works perfectly in Gamesmart Mode.
I have a short question, but it would be helpful for developers.
I've contacted Speed Software to make the " Root Explorer " downloadable with M.O.J.O, and the developers of Dreamcast emulator " reicast ".
Both respond on my mails, but they don't know what might be necessary to change, that the Play Store allowed a download.
I want to help this problem fixing for more software, but need some more hints, what specially caused the store filter to flag software as not compatible ?

What games are you going to play?

for me i cant wait to play openTTD , Plague , psx games etc
what games are you going to play?
Whichever poker game is flavor of the month.
Emulators!
I really hope that this device will support MHL 3.0!
Clash of Clans for sure. It's one of those games that's begging for a hi-res tablet. Should be a HUGE upgrade from playing on my Nexus 5.
I also want to check out that new Sim City Build It game to see how it is. EA touts it as being "optimized for tablets". Lots of 3d buildings on-screen that should take advantage of the Tegra K1 chip.
I think building games in general benefit the most from a good tablet.
smash bros melee + 2 dualshok 3 controllers, connected with bluetooth endless fun!
and afcourse mario card double dash
Going to play with this:
Moga Pro Power
:highfive:
Not really going to play games on it
Maybe TWD S2 since i beat S1 on the 360
I like to play strategy games, business games like transport tycoon, also red alert type games.
got this device for games...
sat on the plane last trip only able to play emulators on my phone... cant wait for the larger screen size and power
as many games as i can fit on it, emulators (game boy, psx, n64, etc)

Installing a web-app onto Fire 7", 9th Generation

Probably not a whole bunch of fans of Bigfish games but I love them What I am wondering is if it's possible to get the same Bigfish Game Manager on my Fire 7", 9th Generation? I looked around after reading about downloading from Google Playstore, which of course I have on my tablet, but all they have as an app is not the same as the Game Manager on my Windows 10 Desktop. So, I can't even download one of my games I've purchased online and own now.
I know Kindle can download from outside source, but I am thinking only Android versions of apps, and not the full version of Bigfish Games.
Hope this makes sense as I really haven't a clue. Thanks in advance for any help Here's a link to the bigfish website that might be helpful, although no info on getting the "actual" Game Manager, only Big Fish Casino:
