So, I managed to extract the files from a boot.img. I managed to convert the bootinit.rle file to png...
If change that file, will the boot splash change? And if yes, how do I make a png a rle??
Yes that rle file IS the splashscreen all you need to do is to change a png to rle adn rename it to the same name as the original file and when you recompile it it should be good Been trying to do that with a kitchen... If you are using linux maybe try this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1659584

When I extract a splash screen file from the ExtROM cab, say for example Splash1.nb, how do I convert that .nb file into an image file which I can then edit in PhotoShop, and then how do I convert that edited image back into a .nb?
I'm not looking to create a splash file from an existing image I've made, I'm looking to modify an existing .nb file because it's already the image I want to use but I want to change a tiny aspect of it in PhotoShop.
Thanks!
Alex

Been looking for this for quite sometime and now its here courtesy of ANDOT(the famous cooking master of Tornado WM6).
Before, converting os.bin to os.nb involves tedious tasks. It involves hex editing and now with a simple typing of correct commands on dos prompt and voila you have a converted os.nb or os.bin file. Thanks ANDOT...
Hi all,
I am able to make changes to a png file in my Touch's Windows dir and save to a different dir but when I try to overwrite the old png file with the new file I get an access denied error.
I've tried changing the files attributes so read only is unchecked but it doesn't stick.
I've even tried using Total Commander to delete the file but no go. I konw it's something simple as so many seem to edit png files all the time but I'm even simpler.
Searching the forums yielded a similar squestion but no good answer except modifying a registry key from Hive to File, whatever that means. Is this what I need to do?
thanks in advance for any help
icon cube
Hi,
Can you send me original icons of the cube (touchflo)?
Thanks

Usually the only time you can't overwrite a png file is if it's being used by the system. Try turning off whatever touch app your trying to replace the file for and then replace it.

thanks xeno1, that did the trick. I was trying to edit the touch's dialer background and quickdial.exe was running. Once I stopped the process I could overwrite the original background with the edited one.
thanks again.
No problem, glad I could help.
hey guyz do any of u know how to make a cab from the setup.xml file..actually i made a cab file which has about 190 files..and i misspelled the name of the directory in them..now i cant change all of them so i extracted them with 7zip in a folder ..now i have a file called setup.xml..i opened it and then changed the spelling of the directory..now how can i make it to install..please help guyz
I think you'll want to extract all the files into the same directory then run cabarc.exe to make a cab file with all the files.
first extract the inf file from a cab using MSCEInf.exe (from the zip file i included)
Then u can edit the inf file and use cabwiz to make cab.
it is no use to extract the xml file, at least not to my knowledge.
WOW thanx alot
hi to all

You need to edit shellres.192(96/128).dll with Restorator
can you explain me better please?

1)Recmod the file (if it is in modules):unzip the osrecmod tool and drop the unmoduled file over recmod.exe
2)Unsign the file dropping it over unsigner tool.(ofcourse unzip the file tool first). You must then see your file loosing 1-2kb...
3)Open the file with restorator or reshack (its free but needs more time to do the job)
4)Change the icons (they are in ico extension so your images should have the same extension and dimension).
In the first series of icons is the waiting cursor.Find another series and replace them.Nice cursors are here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803756
Images must have the same dimensions as the original ones.
Find the start icon and replace it.Save the file.
5)Sign the file with msigner tool. You must then see your file gaining 1-2kb.
6)Remodule the file and drop it in its original place in your kitchen.
Maybe unsigning and signing not needed if you cook the file but I have not tried it.I always sign my file.
