Not sure if this would help but you can follow @samersh72 guide to get back to official stock firmware with no root here -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265477
Hello everybody!
I thought about opening this new thread to build up a how to guide for everybody who is runing on android 4.3!
This guid should use a method without the need to unlock ur bootloader. So far as I know an older version has to be flashed with flashtool/downgrade! After using the old version this version has to be rooted with the right solution (kingo for the older versions/other root method which can be found as a video/search function). Afte rthis you have to do a OTA upgrade and u should keep ur root status. A full wipe is recommended to avoid problems I'm using the sony backup app and helium backup bye clockworkmod. Anybody better suggestions.
Thanks guys!!
It this root Full or partial? :|||

I don't think it's possible on non-rooted devices, but if you have a custom ROM like CM, you can find it in "Developer settings".
I recommend rooting your phone since you can always flash stock, non-rooted firmware back and no one will ever know you were rooted

can you teach me best way to root?

Dowgrade to 4.1.2 ONLY IF YOU ARE ON 4.3 NOW! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2658952
Then root it by following this awesome tutorial by DoomLord: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2405933
After rooting it you can start using root apps, modifying your system and flashing ROMs (Locked bootloader Only)
If you want to flash Roms which are for Unlocked bootloaders then you need to unlock your bootloader, but I don't recommend it if you're not an advanced user.
Good luck and I hope I helped
SO i have to downgrade the root then go back to 4.3?
but if i update to 4.3 i will lose root

You can always install a stock based ROM with root, or just add root options to 4.3 yourself (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2681597)
Has anyone been able to root a S5 after the 5.0 update was installed OTA? Can you use ODIN and go back to an Andoid 4.2 or something and then root and then flash to 5.0 thats rooted? I know it must have been asked but I cant find any information. Thanks
You can root using chainfire's auto root tool. Search CF-Auto-root and your model number on Google. It comes with odin in a zip file. I presume you know how to use it as you have mentioned it
Note: You don't need to go back to 4.2 for it.
For g900v downgrade: http://forums.androidcentral.com/sa...wngrade-samsung-galaxy-s5-5-0-4-4-kitkat.html
And root: http://androidbiits.com/root-verizon-samsung-galaxy-s5-sm-g900v-android-4-4-4-kitkat/
You must downgrade on the g900v

To root you must downgrade to NGC, 4.4.2. You can then upgrade and keep root.
Hi
I am a noob so be gentle
I have a SM-G900F running Android 6.0.1 and I want to root it.
I don't want a custom rom or anything, I just want to root it so I can edit platform.xml to allow sd card access and then probably unroot it again so I can use my banking app that won't work on a rooted phone.
An idiots guide to root/unroot would be very helpful
Thanks
