from what i read, only way to "upgrade" is a clean install.
ouch, can't install to a partition or a different hard drive? harsh.

I couldn't get it to work that way because of the make-up of the iso file...it seems less a typical disc image to me than a series of files, including a Setup application and an autorun file, disguised as a system disc image. So, just installed thru cmd in Windows and yes, it blew everything away, but since I have everything either on my phone, backup drives, or the cloud, it didn't make a difference to me. Haven't had time to explore the build yet, but hopefully a good bit more polished than the previous build.

it installed that way fine for me, just use the Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool, from Microsoft, and back it up to the USB Flash Drive, and boot my PC from it.

How to easily make a bootable USB with Windows 8:
First you need: A USB. The disk letter of it when you will format it. In the examples I will assume the letter will be G:, but you must use the one you get.
1. Download Windows 8 ISO.
2. Extract the files into a folder.
3. Insert a USB in your PC.
4. Open cmd (Win+R. Type cmd).
5. Type these commands:
diskpart
list disk
select disk selection number of your USB drive disk
clean
create new partition
select partition 1
active
format fs=ntfs quick
assign Here you will get the USB drive letter
exit
cd "path to Win8 extracted files/boot"
bootsect /nt60 G:
6. Close cmd and copy all the extracted W8 files to the USB drive.
Done. You have a bootable USB with Windows 8.

Lol I know how to put windows on a flash drive. Only thing was I don't wanna lose all my videos.

[Q] Mac OS X 10.6 + Windows 8 = FAIL

well i had mac os x as my main OS, right on 1 partataion with chamelion as the boot loader, then i intslled WINDOWS 8 and i doesnt show chamelion it just boots right into Windows 8... how do i get chamelion back so i can boot into both
Dual booting hacked OSX and Windows 8 is not possible at the moment. Chameleon is not able to boot Win8, and Win8 bootloader couldn't possibly load OSX.
If you are on a Mac, you could install them on separate partitions.
If you are on a PC, you could install them on separate drives and choose the OS by BIOS boot-up selection.
Can't see any other way right now, but check InfiniteMac for future solutions.
i tried it
i tried XP but that failed aswell. have i messed up the bootloader?

He's right. I have win 8, win7, and lion on my hac pro, one one SSD. Just install chameleon loader to a usb drive, and once it displays the drive selecetion you should be able to set the the preferred boot drive to the partition which holds the bootloader. Hope that makes sense.

hmmm
Or just Google for "iboot", burn it to a CD, reboot from CD and select your Mac OS partition. Otherwise, it will go straight to windows 8.

To sum up, you'll need a foreign bootloader from the disk or are there another method? It would be so interesting, the mac os its a great operative and Windows 8 is god.

Yes, you do need a foreign bootloader from CD. Currently, there is no other method available. Still, it is awesome to have snow leopard/lion alongside windows 8

Iboot currently does not work. However, to boot lion, you may use "rboot" from TonymacOsx (something like this, Google it). It works the same way with the slight difference it is intended for Macintosh Lion and not for Snow Leopard or below.

You can install Chameleon on a old SD card o USB drive and select this drive in the boot menu. I used this way some time before and worked nice.

But that won't work with windows 8.... chameleon doesn't work with it YET. So instead of installing chameleon on a SD card or USB, I suggest burning rboot to a CD

You didn't understand me. You've to install in the hard disk Windows 8 with its bootloader normally.
So, If you have Mac OSX in another Hard Disk you don't have any problem. Intall chameleon in OSX hd and select it in your motherboard boot menu.
If you have the both SO in the same Hard Disk. Intall the windows bootloader in the hard disk. And in a SD Card/USB stick install Chameleon with its Extra folder, etc (all the chameleon stuff).
You can boot the SD/USB in your motherboard boot menu .
Maybe it's not the better solution. But is what I used to do.

[GUIDE][WIN 95,98,XP][LINUX,UBUNTU,REDHAT]Everything on your Streak

REQUIREMENTS
On your streak
1.Download Any one pack attached below
qemu+qemu(sdl)[FAST but unstable]
or Bochs+Bochs(sdl)[slow but works]
On windows
qemu for windows[google it]
bochs 2.5.1[google it]
done
Creating the bootable image!
1. Open up Bochs for PC and run bximage.exe -> you can find bximage here C:/Program Files/bochs/ | depends on where you have installed it.
2. Create a Image with following: hd, flat, 1500, c.img
hd: It is the format of your boot disk. | fd will create a bootable floppy disk image. For some odd reasons you can use with win 3.11 or something like that.
flat: It means that it has a fixed size.
1500: It is the size of your Image. | you need around 1,5 gb disk space, because the installation of winxp, even you edit it with nlite, wont let you use lower disks -.- , i am trying to solve that problem.
c.img: It is the name of your Image. | choose the name like you want to, but dont forget to edit the bochsrc.txt, else it wont start.
notice: Maybe you have to run bximage.exe as Admin.
--------------------------------------------------------
Install Windows XP in the boot image
1. Open up Qemu
2. Set up a new Virtual Machine
3. As disk use the c.img
4. Configure the cdrom
5. Give the machine around 512 MB - 1 GB RAM if possible
6. start the Virtual machine and run the installation of Windows XP
Running it in Android
Extract SDL folder to \sdcard
Now folder looks like
/sdcard/SDL
copy Over c.img to sdl folder
run bochs or libsdl from app drawer
and it boots
in this way you can install anything you want
takes 10 to 15 minutes to boot
I booted win98 with these
go for screenshot below
THIS IS NOT MY WORK I JUST SHARED IT WITH YOU
Is this stable?
Pretty cool...
Now that is pretty wild ..xp on streak.. I wish there was a video of the whole installation process since it is all unfamiliar to me but still think I'll Try it for fun.
WOW
I noticed it's running win98 in safe mode so not much is working with it.
BUT
If bluetooth keyboard and mouse worked with this, it would just be the sickest thing ever!
If 3g data networking worked also, I would just explode!
Downloading and going to give it a crack on spare streak........
How fast/slow do they run?
haha would be awesome to be able to make calls from xp
It's merely running various guest OS's though a vm. Even if you managed to set it up to route calls there would likely be an unacceptable amount of lantancy.
For help and support, please refer to the original thread here ----> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459153

Hard Bricked LG L7 (swap)

I installed the swap nonsense and that was the last of it.
I have battery (checked it using my friends phone, also L7).
But phone reacts to NOTHING!
No usb-comp connection holding different buttons. No combo before inserting battery.
Its DEAD.
Greed Kills.
I bought the phone abroad and so warranty does not cover, and well the repair price according to the LG guy is about $200 which is about the price of the phone.
Any ideas?

No, pull out battery, attach one end of USB cable to phone, hold volume down, attach other end of cable to PC. Should start Modem Download Mode, only then release volume key.

Thanks a lot guys for helping me.
I am getting the hex file right now. The QDL drivers; they are not installing. Its probably cause i m running Win8 64 bit.
Are there QDL drivers for windows 8 64 bit?
None of my frnds are running XP either.

You must install XP Pro SP3.

Virtual machines can't detect USB.

Hey, I know it. But VirtualBox will use your Windows8's ports. So, your VirtualMachine can't detect your USB as in XP.
If you look "device manager in Virtual XP" you can't see any USB port.
If you give VirtualMachine access to USB (guess additions), again it will be using your MotherMachine's (Windows8) ports.
Allright.
Plan of action:
1. Go to Ubuntu, press vol down key while usb attached to phone. Then connect to Comp. Should i proceed if this step does NOT work?
2. Get XP live in USB.
3. Boot XP.
4. Install all required stuff.
5. Follow procedure to unbrick.

Unless you see your phone is in Modem Download Mode (screen should probably turn on) and detected by PC, there is no point in proceeding. Remember, do this without your battery. And pull out the SIM card too. If it isn't detected, try another USB port.
You can also try a different combination: plug your phone first, then hold volume key down.
But like I said, somebody said it worked in VirtualBox...

Question can't install windows 7

Hello guys! i can not install windows seven on my Lenovo v15 g2 itl. its bios is UEFI. i flash iso with rufus and choose the uefi option, but when i boot from usb, it just freezes on windows 7 logo. what do i do?

Are you using a USB drive? Try using a different drive, or burn the ISO to a disc if you have an optical drive.

Try reformatting the USB stick and using Rufus again. What version of Windows 7 are you trying to install?

Try a different USB drive. UEFI shouldn't be the problem; if it was, you wouldn't be able to boot from the drive.

I think i found the solution, other forums are recommending flashboot pro. It has windows 7 installer for pure uefi system and built in drivers, you can add your custom drivers too. Imma try it

You could try that. Never thought about installing a different Windows version? It could also be the .iso that is the problem and corrupt or something.

If it does not work, you could also try to use a DVD instead, if you can.

Also, why did it have Windows 8? You could also try to run .exe to install Windows inside the system
so i did not succeed. the flashboot pro which i meant earlier, has patch and pre installed drivers for windows 7 installer, but it is a pro feature. i digged every corner of internet and did not find any of working cracks, it is useless. i surrender.

Nah, I don't think so. Just try to open the installer from the USB drive within Windows and install it that way.
