I have a rooted Kindle Fire on 6.3 and I successfully installed the google play store.
When I went to the Play Website I could successfully and simply choose my Kindle and push an app install to it. Then I tried to do a build.prop mod so that my kindle would show up as a Nexus S to achieve access to certain "incompatible apps" which I've seen sideloaded and they worked fine e.g. facebook and twitter. This simply had no effect so I reverted to my old build.prop and went on my way. My kindle does however no longer show up in the google play web store since this issue. How do I fix that?
Nevermind. Brain in neutral while reading and produced a response having nothing to do with the OP.

So I got the fire for my sister for Christmas, rooted to install android market, installed apps, games, launcher, sideloaded mobi books and everything was fine. Most of the books showed in documents but the newer ones showed in the books section of the kindle home. After powering back on tonight I received a forced update which removed all the files from the native reader. Anyone know why? I understand its just an eye appealing thing with the shelves and all, and I have fb reader to read them still but would like to have them in the native app as well. The update didn't break root or the market or anything like that. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I'm seeing the same sort of behavior -- and now items copied via USB (with and without Calibre doing the work) do not show up -- not in Documents, not in Books.
I can launch the files using ES File Explorer, but that's kind of painful just to switch from one book/story to another.
Amazon support has been no help -- they keep saying "press the Sync button" and "are you connected to Wifi?"
what you need to do is go back into the android market, navigate to the Kindle App, and Select "uninstall updates" What happened is the stock kindle app, which nearly everyone agrees is 100 times better, got replaced by the amazon kindle app that other android devices have to use.
If you side-load from calibre, the steps you need to follow to insure they show up in the stock reader app is shown in this video from cnet

I agree that your kindle app got automatically updated I would recommend to se if you can roll back changes. If that is not possible you could download kindle fire update from there website and change it from .bin to .zip and open it and look for the kindle app. If that does not work you can flash the that update by changing it to update.zip and flashing it or putting it in the kindle update. Or you can just simply flash modaco and change the automatic settings on kindle app as you reflash.
Hope this works.

How to hide an update?
I am aware that the kindle app update messes up the books and that uninstalling the update will fix this as i have already done this. Is there a way to hide this update from showing or permanently deleting it from the google play update dir.
What you can do is go to the PLay Store, navigate to the Amazon Kindle app and de-select "automatic updating"
That's not the issue, automatic updating is turned off. When on the play store app if you go to my apps it shows the available updates. I want to hide the kindle app from the update list. Mostly so family and friends stop updating the darn thing then calling me and asking why all the books disappeared.
Tell them not to update it problem solved

So I installed Google play store on my Fire 10 HD, after the install the Kindle reader stopped working nor would it update. Google play worked flawless but the reader stopped working and would not recognize any of the books that we previously purchased where it had prior to installing Google Play. I did a reset as wife likes her books but there are Apps I would like on this tablet as well, on a side note how do you set the home page for the worthless silk browser, instruction on the Web are worthless, why can't I just go to settings and set my home page? ......... Grrrrrrr

It happens because Play Store tries to update Kindle app with it's Google Play version, which of course doesn't work. I'm not sure what will fix that.
I don't think you can change the home page in Silk properly. I also tried. :cyclops:
Silk and GP un HD 10
Silk does not have a home page set, that is why I tried setting the home page. I spoke with a friend who installed GP IN his fire 8 HD and had no issues, so with your reply if I don't use GP to update the Kindle reader I should be good, just turn off auto update and updated nothing kindle with google. I will try this on one of the other units first, also when I installed the files I didn't use the must current files for GP So will try that as well I just used the ones in the videos, I'll keep you.podted on the out come, may gave to chat with amazon about setting the silk home page. as well.

Using an Amazon Fire HD 8 tablet. I've installed the Google Play Store and it works fine.
When I log on to the app store from my PC and select an app to install, I see my android TV, my cell, but the Amazon tablet isn't listed.
Is there a way for Google to know the tablet exists outside of the tablet?

Have you installed anything on the HD8 using the play store? My HD10 shows up in my list.
Yes. I've installed several things from within the tablet. Apps update fine as well.
When I log on from my PC though, the Amazon tablet just isn't listed as one of my devices.

I asked google and found this:
"I had a similar issue (new device can install from Google Play, but from the website it wasn't being shown as a device under my Settings).
What I had to do was to go into Settings/Apps/Google Play on the device and then clear the data. Once that is done, when you next launch Play, it will ask you to accept the terms and conditions. Then I just downloaded an app (any app will do) on the device. This seems to alert the web settings that there's another device.
I then checked my settings on the Play website and the device was now listed (no delay, it was there straight away). Note that I never logged out of the Browser, or cleared any browser caches etc. Effectively the step are:
1. Clear the Google Play app cache on the Android device.
2. Start Play and accept T&Cs
3. Download any app from inside the Play app.
Hopefully this will work for others too."
I cleared the data & cache from: Google Account Manager, Google Play Services, Google Play Store & Google Services Framework.
No change. It doesn't even ask me to accept terms and conditions, it just logs me back on. It must be storing my data elsewhere(?)
Edit: It took a long time, but eventually it finally started appearing. I have no idea what that was about.
Hi,
I'm hoping someone has figured this out as its driving me crazy !
I've followed the instructions to put the google apks on via the android police website, install play store amazon fire tablet article (can't link to it as it's my first post !)
Everything initially seems to be ok, signed into google and can access and download apps from the Play store.
When I download the Google Play Games app it runs ok but switching to the Profile tab doesn't show me any profile information and all I get is the busy icon spinning constantly.
Does anyone know how to solve this ? I think this has a knock-on effect of games not working that require a google games profile.
This is on a brand new 2019 Amazon Fire HD 10.
Thanks in advance

That's the problem, your Fire tablet have registered with Amazon account.
Reset your Fire tablet and bypass Amazon account registration. Do not register.
Install Google services and remove all Amazon junk:

Hi , thanks for replying.
How do you bypass Amazon account registering/logon ? I thought it forced you to have an account.
I've used the toolbox before but only after I have signed in. are you suggesting I can somehow get to the home screen without logging in or registering and then use toolbox ?
I purchased my first Fire tablet for my wife for Xmas. I only have expiernce sideloading apks to fire sticks.
I would like to remove the locksreen ads if it's still possible. Yes, I did search the forum for threads on the topic and found one Fire Toolbox seems to me that the fire OS update makes it unable to revive locksreen ads.
I would still like to have access to the play store. I don't know what Google apps or packages to install. Has anyone got the Playstore to work on the latest version of the Fire 10 HD plus? Does anyone know what Google play apps or packages I need to install to get the play store up running?
