[ROM] Cyanogenmod 9 RC0 on Sony Xperia arc S - Xperia Arc General

The unofficial Cyanogenmod 9 RC0 has been just released! I really enjoy it on my Sony Xperia arc S, so I have recorded some videos with overviews.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-nbq6cHBTTA
And the amazing Apollo Music Player:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kRG_zC7ZEXo
I really love this ROM and reccommend to you!

I love this phone and the rom is awesome: O

So Awesome!

Nowadays I am convinced that the Sony Xperia is one of the best on the market, without taking anything away from Samsung. Products of excellent craftsmanship, quality materials, simple customization. I have not had a chance to try Cyano on my Arc S, expect a final version and let you know.

i loooooovvvveeeeeeeeeeeee it

anybody tried BoostHD?!
Has anybody tried BoostHD?!
Is there any difference between the battery life? Is Cyano´s battery life better?
thanks

Cm9 fxp 125 have good battery life.

It's a brilliant release! I'm going to miss DNLA support though.
The music player is good but needs work - I have 300+ albums and navigating them is hard work - it needs a "list view" mode. Plus it is missing quite a lot of album art compared to the stock Sony player.

Xperia Rachel Music UI Demo

Looking Awesome
http://www.engadget.com/2009/10/31/new-sony-ericsson-rachael-ui-video-hits-still-looks-nothing-lik/
Seriously... this is exactly something which Android needs... It looks beautiful and it will appeal to not only the "Mobile Geek" market but the average standard market too... it purely being a Sony Ericsson will help it alot aswell.
I wonder if HTC will have any involvement in the Xperia X3 as they did with the X1 meaning that XDADevs will have a forum for it?
EDIT: For anyone who doesn't know, the "leaked" specs on this device are:
256mb RAM
512MB Rom
1ghz Snapdragon Processor
4 inch touchscreen
Micro SD Port
8mp camera
0.3mp secondary camera (video calling)
My question is why haven't we gotten a Music app like this yet? It's absolutely killing Android right now. I've tried almost all of them to no avail. We shouldn't need a whole new UI for a good music app.

You have a good point, the music app needs some serious work on, it's too plain.
yeah this would really give android an edge

can't wait for dumps of this! (although i am not too sure whether our G1's will be able to run the apps of that phone, since it has a 1Ghz CPU... well, we're gonna see what it is able to do )
P.S.: Well it's not just the Music UI that is interesting, look at that SEXY "timescape" thingo
The picture gallery is fanstic looking as well.
Hopefully its all smooth.

X 2.3.3 GingerBread Update impressions(Guide to people installing GB)

The new update for X10 is out already! after about 8 hours of using and about 7-8 reboots the phone seems fast now!
Now what does that mean it means we can implement All 2.3.3,2.3.4 or 2.2 roms out there with the Perfect camera!
and the kernal can be used to Tether and roms running 2.3.3 can be made rock stable!!!!
Android version - 2.3.3
BB - 2.1.71
Build no - 3.0.1.G.0.75
Apps included in stock
-Timescape
-New music app(with new skin and easy to use UI! much faster than Mediascape)
-new camera app(similar UI)
-New Gallery
-Track ID
-Media Discovery
-News and Weather
-Google maps,latitude,talk,gmail,places,navigation,youtube and voice search
-playnow store
-office suite
-postcard
-sync
Soon Dev section will overflow with new Roms and old ones updated. Z is working on something big i guess! and J rom will soon be completed
All other GReat Devs will be out with new Blazing roms!
-after a few reboot Phone seems faster and glides through Menu and Gallery and timescape(Lame app)
-2.3.3 Running for 8 hours no Wlod no crash! running smooth and No need of any app killers as GB is optimised in app handling
-Large Scrollable photo and video widget works GREAT
-Camera works Great go you cant get the UI to Potrait mode, but the pictures are much better than 2.1. 720p Recording is smooth and focus during recording is mind blowing really loving it!
-The screen off animation works well, edge glow is clear and is not pixelated(White edge glow)
-keyboard works fine and responsive and the text cursor works well
-Tether work Fine and network is great with new BB!
- the highest possible for me is 187mb free memory with using native app killer but mostly GB can handle this well so you wont slow down!
-there is a new feature added now i dont know if it is a Pro or a Con. when downloading something from the Market a cyan Led blinks and while installing from market cyan led blinks indicating Downloading and installing!
-The vibration seems much more responsive as soon as you get a Msg it vibrates and the vibration intensity has also been increased
-x10 now give cyan Notif light whenever you install something, download something, or you miss your alarm or any other important notifs are
show by this Led good feature but i hate it at night when i am using it!
-NO BOOTloader is not unlocked
-NO Fps cap removal or increase
-NO 16 million colours
-NO Multi touch or improved Dual touch
-Low call volume
-Cam Flash still the old lame Photo light! work around Vig works fine but not as good as the New 2.3.3 Camera
-No improvements in Screen or any display aspect
Whats best after having the update!(note: if your reading this now dont download the update from SEUS)
-now at first the Bravia engine was thought to be a joke but now it really gives more sharper and vivid images!thx to Z again
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1193274
-sony's fps cap makes moving through the screens a pain in the neck thanks to Z for his fps uncap!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192867
IF you think doing this one by one is a pain in the neck then download Wolfs X TW
which already has pulled out Sont crap apps
and Fps uncap+BraviaEngine 100%
and its optimised
If you are starting from 2.1 or 2.2 roms i recommend going with Wolf's rom as its both faster and has more features than stock!

1. Can't use as Flash.
2. Run smooth but lag when using app killer
3. Usually ~45% Free and when kill ~65% free. Task will rise up to 40 tasks after killed for 2mins
4. Run smooth, look the Arc and you will see that they are the same.

I don't know, for me the GB update feels very clunky. It's slow ,laggy, and actually gets worse than 2.1 sometimes. It's super stable though and camera is a huge plus, and I'm loving facebook inside xperia.

Very pleased with the update. I think SE did a great job! I actually for once like the new timescape widget...however what bugs me is that they didn't link the camera to timescape anymore. So, once root is available, im affraid timescape has to go lol. If they would have linked the camera to it, I for sure would have kept timescape this time.
My only other thing is im patiently waiting for a root method...I know there's pre-rooted firmware, but Im just not in the mood to flash back to 2.1, root it, blah blah blah. So i'll wait.
I just hope Z or someone is actually working on a root method?
Overall, SE, very slick update,, congrats!

I agree. Timescape and the whole Facebook inside Xperia concept is amazing and works well. I just wish there was a way to 'show friendship' like in facebook, where it groups you and that person's FB tagged pics, status tags, wall posts etc. into one app. That would be cool.

Yes, just saw it.
This line will keep me away from it,

I just flashed this rom and I'm loving it. I've been using it for 2 hours and I love the MIUI features. It's like Cyanogenmod, but less nerdy and seems to offer better/more functionality.
What I love most is that the Flashlight will start from simply holding the 'Home' button at your lock screen.
Makes it super smooth to enable/disable flashlight, as it disables when you let go the home button.
If you don't like the MIUI launcher, use Go Launcher or some other instead.
I couldnt get used to the MIUI because it places all your apps on your homescreens. I'm sure you could get used to this, but I don't feel like it.
DEFINATELY TRY IT THOUGH! It's butter-smooth.
Just remember to make a Back-up of your current ROM using CWM
Usual stuff that have bugs/dont work:
1080p recording
Video playback (avi, mpg, mkv, etc)
This rom with ics theme and ics launcher will be sweet
downloading now =)
i am kinda addicted to cyanogen cause of the settings menu, but i think ill survive
Sadly i cannot change my Beautiful widgets skin
oh well

Correct me if I'm wrong.
But MIUI is based on Cyanogenmod correct?
If so, some files don't work. From my testing, x264 encoded files don't work, as do some files downloaded from Youtube.
For those that have installed, can you try using Tubemate to download the 1080p version of the Battlefield 3 launch trailer and see if it works? Thanks.
Giving it a go myself tomorrow morning. Gonna sleep now.
Preformance test gave me score of 2900, and this should be with 2 duel core? Loled they just make this up to attract people's attention. Its sure not ICS based rom.

Xperia Arc S CM9 Issues

Hello guys.
I've been using CM9 for a while now.
Well there are some issues.
So i have a 3D tv and the 3d panorama function doesnt work.
HDMI connection doesn't work
Normal panorama mode doesnt work.
When i press the home button it takes a while for the phone to wake up.
Browsers randomly crash,I'm using dolphin browser wich also crashes like the stock one.
After unlocking the phne sometimes icons on the homepage wont show for a while.
In the car when im using the gps and the battery goes down i plug it into the car charger but charges slowly and discharges while connected, this doesnt happen with the wall charger.
HDMI is the most important from the list above, are these known issues?
If so is there a work around?
I hate apollo too,any free music apps you guys use?
I'm searching for new rom too,if you know any please post them
Thanks very much
HDMI isn't ever going to work in CM9 so you should try a different ROM. JJs Hybrid for example...

Yup!
CM9 is a ROM for users who want a stock experience, i doubt they would develop any more features

We’ve been working to build new Sony experiences on Google’s KitKat release to create some neat / sweet features (if we say so ourselves) – in addition to a few performance tweaks here & there, some of the functionality you can look forward to includes:

We’re also*uplifting Sony’s entire native app portfolio to the latest versions*– bringing tweaked / improved / current experiences for (to name but a few): Messaging, MyXperia, Smart Connect, Small apps, TrackID, TrackID TV, Sony Select, Smart Social Camera and…
Sony’s Media apps: WALKMAN, Album and Movies, with Sony Entertainment Network cloud service integration**– a more converged and full Sony entertainment experience – Sony Entertainment Network & PlayMemories integration with a more intuitive UI, better download speeds, and more!

Meh... That would kinda suck... Dev would've to port tap2wake from Z2\Z into custom kernel (which we still don't have) and that might take quite a looooong time =(

I don't think that you don't want even better battery life .
Also, there are other improvements (like with the camera), new features, as quoted in my prev. post.
Any info on how Sony is handling the whole microSD debacle with its 4.4 KitKat firmware?
I use my microSD to store music and videos only, but I'm wondering if the 4.4 firmware can get me any problems with wifi syncing software (AirDroid, Cheetah Sync), or any 3rd party media player such as MX Player...

Would you be so kind to test the camera improvements after update? Maybe the new version fixes the blurriness, noisiness and low light performance of the camera I wouldn't expect to remove the flash bleed but... who knows... maybe they played with the flash timing somehow...

The update is via pc companion or OTA?
I will not update till having a safe and certain way to roll back and a rooted 4.4 rom... My 4.3 stock with root is almost perfect, no reason to change after reading the changelog. Just curiosity
lol @Jozinek I envy you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
