I'm a pretty average note user.. Haven't rooted or flashed a custom ROM on my note (had a bad experience previously with galaxy s). After waiting patiently for ics.. Only to find out the stock ics ROM sucks and is full of bugs.. I'm a huge fan of CM9 but can't despense without s notes features... Is there any ROM I could flash I've missed? Or should I wait (since note ics source code is out) for a custom ROM with s note features? Can this be achieved on cm9.. I hate touchwiz
Kindly advice.

Since franco snd hardcore have released new kernels lpy is a good daily driver in my opinion. Plenty of good custom roms are out there which make use of these kernels. Fast and stable.

You just have to try some yourself and see what fits you, that's why we have a lot of variety (or try to). We all have different opinions about what we want.
But yeah, with Franco and Speedmod kernels out, it makes the stock ICS roms bearable (well, so I've heard from multiple people as I'm ParanoidAndroid right now ). Also, each ROM will have its Pros and Cons.
Stock ICS (XXLPY) works like a charm on mine. I wiped, rooted and flashed it via Mobile Odin (coming from a rooted GB kernel !). I have removed some of the Samsung bloatware. I have replaced the defaut TW launcher by Nova. I am using my Note intensively since 2 weeks, not a single issue since then. It's fast, stable and the battery usage is more than acceptable. It's the first android stock ROM I have ever encountered with such quality.
That said, I am a big fan of Cyanogen mods (on my LG Optimus 2x) and I will probably switch to CM9 sooner or later but if you want to get 100% of the Notes features, the stock ROM is highly recommended and a pleasure to live with on a daily basis.

The best ROM is the one that works best for you. Try on a few for size and make your own decision.

Hello all, this is my first post and I have some queries. As we all know the new Samsung firmware JP2 has many bugs like Swype not working, Battery draining very fast etc. I want to know which is most stable ROM which doesn't have these problems.
I don't want to try any custom ROM because of overclocked processor as it will short it's life and void the warranty. I am thinking to flash the JPN ROM but though to get advice before doing anything. I hope it won't have any effect if I use European firmware as I am from India. I am currently using JP6.
I think you should be using Kyrillos' ROM. It's very stable.
Opt for a non-overclocked custom, you won't regret it If you really want to stay using stock roms, i'd suggest JPM/JPN.

Try the new European release....XWJPF. Its a very stable rom. And no bugs. I am from india too. Its working flawless on my galaxy 3.
DDJG6>DDJP2>Kryillos 4.1>XWJPF
Using Kitchen v1.0 to create a new ROM with your feature do you want.

I'm testing it. Let's go with me.
customs are a balance and trade off
well stock ROM may be the most stable but from my experience of experimentations with different roms, and i've tried many roms, if you are thinking of intalling many applications then stock roms are just useless as you would get blank/black screens too often in the stock Tw launcher as the applications try to load from SD card, where you will have to install them for want of space. so if you want to try lot of applications you will have to go for a custom rom with ext2/ext4 support. after trying many custom roms i've finally stopped at POX v 1.0 non oc. Its silky smooth and thats after installation of more than 43 third party apps/games, though you will have to live with some minor glitches which you wont mind. Yes stay away from OC versions as they drain your battery and freeze your phone. The hardware (processor) structure if galaxy3 if not designed for overclocking though it may be overclocked.
XWJPF + go launcher ex
perfect combination..no lags blazingly fast
(oh yes i,ve also rooted my phone and have set cpu.. , so maybe thats y..still XWJPF...no problems)
i have JPM and thinking of moving to XWJPN.
how is it that JPM is pre-rooted if it is official samsung firmware?
I think you should be using Kyrillos' ROM too. It's very stable.
Samsung engineers aren't idiots or fools.. JP2 is d most stable ROM for this phone. I have used custom roms and trust me..there ain't any ROM more stable.

Then i think you should try using the latest European firmware, XWJPF. Its far better than DDJP2. Trust me.
Lol JP2 has many bugs including battery draining issue. How come it is more stable?
Confused between multiple opinions. Might add a poll soon.
If you were to use custom roms, use the Non oc version by Kyrillos. From all the roms that i have tried (there have been many), i have found Kyrillos to be the best.
If you were to use regular Firmwares, the best i believe is either JPF or JPM. A lot of them out there still support JPF, while the constant flashers would recommend the JPM
BTW...Kyrillos is based on JPM
XXJPM by Kyrillos, safe flash and very stable
No worries, I think I have the perfect solution for you... In a few minutes I'll be posting my ROM, which is exactly what you need - because I made this ROM for I had the same problems as you!
Also, I'm writing this, coz I want to post it in the development section but I need 10 posts for that...
There are a lot of ROMs and as far as I see, you should try more then one, because everybody likes a different version...
Yeah, so here I am again. Uploaded, you might even try it - see if the problems go away!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1079052
Now don't mind using any custom ROM if it is stable and good to use.
Poll added just to solve some confusion between multiple choices.
InDroid
InDroid v4 looks good n is going to be released soon
i would prefer non OC as it is more stable but u can look for OC as well!
Allthough I use my own custom ROM, I vote for Kyrillos's ROM because it's very stable and fast. I use it for a long period and I was very pleased.
Kyrillos ROM is not only stable, but gives you the choise of OC or Non OC capability!
Hello all . . Would like to conduct a poll as to which rom you guys have flashed and
stuck on as it gives the best results
No stock option?
Cassie rom is the fastest yet, just tried darky 1.3 but it was slow!
Just flashed Rocket Rom V12 and very impressed with the speed. Completely smooth scrolling and excellent battery performance so far.
Sorry I stick to stock deodexed rom. Most of Rome in development are just themed stock.

think you know nothing much then? have you even tried a rom before?
I used to flash roms on my SGS so much.. however with the Note I am very happy with rooted stock... very fast.. not a single lag in scrolling.. smooth unlocks and camera... I play 1080p videos via HDMI on my 46inch and 3D gaming is excellent and I am happy with the Samsung luncher as well... I will wait for the stable ICS roms...
stock rom No flashing!
Rocket rom v12 is the real deal

I tried Darky 1.1, 1.2 & 1.3 -> had problems using the phone. i tried to fix it like it was told in the thread, but it still didnt work out
Then I switchet to rocket rom and now everything is fine except for bloatware...
Still Im looking forward to the final Darkyrom, since I used it on my SGS1...
Stock rooted.
Yes I've tried Cassie, rocket and darkyrom. Sorry stock has always been smooth to me. Specially with kl7 release, I take 2min out my busy day and delete apps, theme, and make tweaks my own.
Its been the same since sgs2. Rooted stock rom, someone else's kernal and some tacky theme on top.
Im patiently waiting for checkrom.

What kernels do you use with stock rom? Chanfire?

Stock rooted for me too. And I don't see any reason to flash another rom as the stock one is fantastic.

I'm on Rocket v12. Everything is ok except custom launchers. These are still choppy (especially the app drawer to home screen transition). I am really hoping to get somehow a real custom rom like miui.
I used miui on the sgs2 for a really long time and was very pleased with it.
So far...stock is the one for me.
Hey guys recently died almost waiting for the Ics to come to my version of note. But then learned that I can change the region coffee and download the ics update. So I did and now running ics 4.0.3
Now I want to use a nifty ROM. However the thing is I read that there is a new bricking bug. I'm not quite sure what its affected or what to avoid.
I was looking at king Droid v2 but anyone got any suggestion about ROM to use the fullest capabilities and the s pen functions.
Also anyone could give me a guide to what to do to install the ROM from the ics 4.0.3
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA
Every custom ROM user will give you a different view as to which is the best one to choose.
You have two basic options - a Samsung based rom (with Touchwiz) or an AOSP based rom (based on standard ICS).
Be careful about the bricking bug. If you are rooted (which you will have to be) on a Samsung based ICS kernel, do not do any wipes, formats or flashes (unless it is one of the 'safe' modified kernels). You must always flash a gingerbread kernel (abyss 4.2 red is the current one of choice) before flashing ics.
If that doesn't mean anything to you, you really need to do quite a lot of reading of the stickies so you can learn the detailed procedures but, more importantly, can learn the risks so you know how to avoid them.

the best is omega
No such thing as the "best" rom. Different roms cater to different needs, the best rom is the one that works best for you.

The one with the highest number of views and posts. Its the one i would rely on. Which as it turns out in both S3 and Note 2 forum is the Omega roms. I've been using them for sometime now and nothing to complain about so far. But yea some of the guys here are right, not everything is available in one ROM. Its best that you read what's included in that ROM and match it with what you require.

it would be better if u open the thread with poll... best is rooted stock just for now for me
Omega v10

Current favourite:
Wanamlite
Simply because it all works, I want to keep stock features and have as reliable a rom as possible. I'm on stock kernel that comes with the rom.
I've tried:
Hyperdroid Pegasus
Omegarom
Monxdified
Re: [POLL] Vote for your best Custome Rom on Your Note 2
CRASH rom v4.4 is best for now..... As well as phoenix rom
Re: [POLL] Vote for your best Custome Rom on Your Note 2
Phoenix rom

Tried:
Ommega
Wannam
Stock

I'm currently using ARHD + simplicity framework mode, I like the (kinda) stock experience without getting the rom to change that much, less issues to be found.
Re: [POLL] Vote for your best Custome Rom on Your Note 2
I use Phoenix rom. No complaints, I've been using it over 3 weeks now .
kingdroid v4 for ever
Crash V4.4 + N.E.A.K kernel
Rocking on my note2
These ROMs are the best ones.
(Just a list in case it helps.)
Chrash Rom 4.5 Stock Kernel is my favorite yesterday i got over 7 h display on the device was runnig for 17 h :good:
An actual poll would be nice so we can clearly see what is the most popular (not that popularity means much in terms of quality)
Otherwise its gonna be pretty hard to see what peoples favorite are if this thread gets much longer.
Or is the OP going to go through each post and make a little list of whats favourite? If you do, you prob have too much time on your hands lol
Anyway Im all about Android Revolution with Stock Kernel.......its the business (oh and pls close this thread as its pointless and a waste of space )
hi all. just wondering what roms are stable and dds. im not new to flashing just new to the sg4. once rooting and flashing rom what functions might i lose that i should be aware of? just looking for a reason to froot and flash lol. thanks
Everyone has a different opinion, I prefer TW roms, I have used aosp roms for years, but rom of choice now is TW roms, Omega 7 is a complete error free rom.
Running CM10.1 Nightly builds. Been running very very well for almost two weeks now. Just today's build 7/5 seems possibly broken. Other than that very stable.
I previously ran Goldeneye. My favorite stock based ROM. Used it will CM10.1 was ironing out bugs.

Goldeneye 3.0 is great, i prefer touchjizz, is why
just the stock rooted ROM with Nottach's exposed mod.
What beerdroid said. But I'm running bean stalk with the marla kernel. But don't flash that on your device.

Im using the Google Edition ROM posted in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2341376
I never use probably 95% of all the extra stuff Samsung puts on the GS4, and I love the clean pure operation of the GE ROM. Once you go pure android, it's really hard to ever go back. It is really amazing how much smoother and lag free the GE rom is.
But if you do prefer a TW rom, I would recommend Goldeneye, which is based on the latest Euro release.
Mint Jelly, TW based
