Tissues 4 My Battery Issues (SOLVED) - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

Pardon me if I posted this on the wrong forum and kindly move it.
OK where do I begin, recently I flashed paranoid android from for galaxy note on my phone and while it was pretty good, it wasn't yet developed enough for my usage, one main feature that's missing is that you can't play mp4 videos which suck but anyways after playing around with the rom I decided to go back to ginger bread and I did.
After flashing back and rooting the rock everything was fine except the battery life. Previously the battery wasn't this bad like now. I ignored it for a couple days but last night pissed me off.

Can someone tell me what went wrong where. I was awaken at around 5 30 am and switched on my phone and immediately went to sleep and a couple hours later at around 10 I look at my phone and it had drained so much battery and no one used the phone, so how can it drain so much battery when no one evem touched it, and also it was in airplane mode. I honestly don't know what is wrong but can someone help me with my battery issues

Yeah android is not user friendly in terms of analizing batterylife stuff best to check betterbatterystats here on xda forum, with this, also not to user friendly you can check wakelocks. Wakelocks are what awaken your device and preventing it from deep sleep. Deep sleep is the most efficient mode your phone should go into when not using it.
With cpuspy you can check if your phone actually goes into deep sleep. Download that first.
Now regarding PA, its based on cm9, I think in CM9 thread in general section there are tons of post about deep sleep issues and how to fix it.

OK I should download CPU spy to check if my phone goes into deep sleep (which I doubt it does) and if it doesn't what do I do next, currently I'm not on PA rom, I switched back to gb 2.3.6 and am very hesitant to update to stock ICS.

So..... Now what, is something not right?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium

shut down your phone .. take the battery out for a while ... put it back in and reboot ... should be able to enter deep sleep ...
and disable gps if you're not using it

OK will try this method, I have GPS on for Samsung dive, I always have GPS on to 'track' my phone if its lost, I read somewhere that having the GPS on gives a more accurate telling of where the phone is buy doesn't seem true!!!

Really appreciate your help, I just wanted to post one last reply to say how grate full I am for the fix. It is amazing and back to normal now, this fix was crucial as it not only wasted energy which is precious but also money as charging often, I thought I had to do a full wipe and start a fresh phone to fix this issue I'm glad I didnt have to.
Thanks once again and I feel that this thread should be a sticky just so that people with battery issues try this method and if it doesn't work than post on this forum.

Battery Jumping Issue on Gingerbread

This is a serious problem for me, and ive seen many others report it
it started with the HK 2.3.4, and i thought the ATandT build would fix it but it hasnt
The battery readings all over the place, it will say 40% left, but if i restart it itll go back to 59% and etc..
I have done a battery callibration, wiped battery stats, all that good stuff, it has not helped.
I flashed 1.8.3 SBF and then went to the ATandT gingerbread (gingerblur), so everying was wiped, but i still have this problem
Does anyone know how i can communicate this issue to that motorola forum guy Matt,
its very annoying and is making our batteries look very mediocre
Check out my battery life ...nice huh?

Considering these builds are likely not at all final, it's probably something they either have fixed on another build, are working on fixing before the beta, or will fix during the beta.
Basically, I think we'll have to wait for the official release unless Kenn can patch a fix into his own rom.
this seems to be a problem after installing the 1% mod. every time i install it it happens no matter how many times i wipe... once i reflahed with beta 4.5 everything works perfect
I had the 1% mod , wish i never did
but flashed 1.8.3 and flashed to beta gingerblur again, i don thave the mod right now
but still seeing this

Hows what possible? He has the 1% battery mod which makes his battery reading way off. I can be 60% battery , reboot and it will say I'm at 90%.

Motorola isn't going to give 2 hoots about your problems since you flashed a leaked firmware, which wasn't for your specific model anyway!

I had a widget that displayed 1% increment battery levels and that showed the same deal as before. It's not a problem with the mod. All they do is read the system files reporting battery level anyway.
And really Caelan...can't you just ignore the topic if you're just going to post spam?

If you read more carefully, you'll notice it actually is for our specific model
Gingerblur is based on the ATandT 4.5.91
to clear ur confusion, i did have hk and 1% mod in the past. But i then flashed 1.8.3 SBF (which is for at and t atrix)
So right there, all the past is history, im stock.
THEN went to 4.5.91, and still have problems, as do others
It's got to be a bug in the Moto ROM. I'm sure it will be fixed either by our devs or their's
My front facing camera will not work
Sorry to the OP if this is off topic, but didn't want to start a new thread.
Issue is, battery drains faster than it is getting charged while in use. playing game on it while charging and still sucks battery dry. any constructive thoughts is welcome

There's about 2 solid hours of screen time there, I wouldn't consider that too crazy. Did your gf realize the screen was on all that time? Your idle drain doesn't look great, try better battery stats and/or watch dog (mixed reviews).

As some people to get 2 days of standby and 6h of display on in same charge? I've seen it on many screens on xda and other forums maybe they are using a custom roms? I actually mount stock 4.2.1.
What do you mean with wi fi settings?
Thanks
I have had awful battery life on 4.2.1. Its meant to give you 6-7 hours of screen time but I've had no more than 2. Really annoying and I'm sure I didn't get this on 4.1.2
So you have this problem too
I think so too It's a 4.2.1 issue, but I wouldn't install any custom room cause if it's an hw problem I can't back N7 with warranty...

I get around 10hrs of battery life (total actual usage)... with 2 days on standby
but i usually disable sync, only sync when needed. (make use of those widgets)
Avoid fancy widget, use stock widget if possible.
In battery settings, wifi off when it sleeps.
If you are using google currents, you have to disable auto sync, as it use up battery real fast.
And avoid push notification...
Push is the real killer, it requires wifi to be constantly on.

[Q] KitKat battery usage way up

I have read where the KitKat upgrade for the G2 is supposed to add speed and increase battery life even further. For me however it seems its the opposite. I have had way worse battery life since installing (pc lg tool) the KitKat update. I was going all day with anywhere from 40 - 30% left when it was finally plugged in for the night, now I am lucky if I make it to the end of the night. At first I thought perhaps it was just in need of a reboot, but I have done that several times since installation and battery times are still worse. What I don't understand is the battery meter says "System" is to blame for 53% cpu time. Before screen time was my number one battery drain, now its just from being on?.... I don't get it.. Anyone else having this issue, or can shed some light?

That's just it, i haven't done anything different. It can't be an app because i haven't installed anything since the upgrade. What bothers me is it seems to be a system process that's causing it.

I provided the path above, like I said though not sure if it is specific to the ROM i'm on(PA 4.4.2) or not. It the only real exposure to kitkat that I've had. If it isn't a default kitkat thing i apologize if I got your hopes up. I will say this though, if it is don't get your hopes up. It's rather annoying and a massive battery drain. With it on my phone acted like it had half the battery it does.
I don't have location settings turned on, so google now shows unavailable for location, also I don't have security turned on, so I have no security lock screen notification settings that I could find... I'm assuming this is only on if you are using pin, or pattern lock. Thanks for the suggestions tho... I'm going to keep monitoring it and see how it goes. So far today it seems to have normalized, Android System is only showing 2%, which is more like it.
I'm on Official LG Stock KK and to be truthful the battery life has been pretty bad. Like not really comparable to 4.2.2 and definitely not comparable to vanilla Android(of course). What's the issue? Anyone know?

Generally though if Android OS is higher than your screen on time then you have a wakelock issue. I know without root it'll be a little harder to fix the issue at hand though.
I'd at least look into WiFi settings and turn Always Allow Scanning to Off. Then maybe look at your GPS settings and try the battery friendly mode or GPS only mode. I also don't allow Google to use your WiFi for better location results. There have been similar bugs reported with 4.4 here is some info and afew people trying to squash the issue on a Nexus http://www.reddit.com/r/Nexus5/comments/1y96zm/battery_drain_caused_by_android_os_possible/
You boys need root!
I'm not sure if any of the wake lock apps out can show you what's causing this without root but maybe look into it.

Also you can try changing the "keep WiFi on during sleep" to either off or only when plugged in. That may help. Just suggestions that's all. Maybe something here will help somebody.

You also have to remember how much Samsung based apps are running in the background at all times. Figure the pedometer in S-Health, any kind of airview, or S-This S-That when the phone is on. That is probably part of the cause. I do say i see it too but i wouldnt say my battery is exactly bad because of it.

Thank you for those tips! I didn't know about that wifi one. I immediately unchecked always scanning. I keep my wifi on to make sure I use wifi, if available, but I don't need it always scanning. I hesitated on the gps switch, but I figured I'll try it on power saver and see what happens.
Edit:
After turning off wifi scanning, that's what I got. That looks better to me. Although my usage time is lower than my previous screenshot, I started my day at 90% (forgot to charge last night, and that's as high as I could get it before leaving for work), and I'm using my phone more today.

There's another thread on this. It's happening to a lot of people, including me.
