What is the best ics rom? please reply - Vibrant General

I'm currently running doc masters (latest version) but it lags at many times. And I have a huge problem with the browser suddenly going black on a page even if I refresh, but links are still their but not just visable. I's their a ics rom that works perefectly?

Have you tried any of Slims roms? Super fast and snappy. I'm running 3.7 right now and love it.

Slim ics is what I'm running.
Also will go back to cm9 soon..
Those two are very clean and stable.. Which is all i need.
I don't need special themes, and i understand that overclocking is dangerous, so i don't..
But, everybody has a preference..
Good luck with your hunt

See a pattern here? :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

I have used Passion, Euphoria, CM9, RMS, Doc Master's, Slim and a few others. Keep coming back to Slim 3.6 (which is the last version that my GPS works with the stock Slim kernel). Slim is fast and gives sufficient customization and very stable and fast.

A big donor to passion ROM development, I have moved to this ROM as well. It is much faster and more responsive. I have not experienced any unknown issues.
I also tried to use SLIM, installed version 3.8 current version, got FC on making or receiving every phone call, clean flashed it three times. Come on, this is very basic requirement for a ROM.

This was fixed within about 30 minutes from the release of the ROM. Simple download and install of a single file (and documented in the flash instructions).
That said, Slim 3.8 was very slow for me, but things are right back to their snappy selves in 3.9.

Aokp project is a very nice customizable pics rom

To be perfectly honest. You're likely to see a 2.3 from Samsung first.
I'm not doubting these developers but its like they just like to theme up the same rom over and over. Pick any rom and its the exact same as the others , just a different theme and some minor tweaks. Tweaks you can find with a quick google.
I have 2.3.1 AOSP booting but 2d isn't working out for me. Some modules aren't building either.

I know for a fact that these developers do more than "theme and tweak". They not only improve the current roms by increasing stability but they get the sources and build their own kernels and release them for good use. These devs make the vibrant a powerhouse. And they do it for free. So do your research bro

right now, CM is working on CM7 for i9000. and krylon360 of teamwhiskey is working on a direct AOSP build for the vibrant. (CM7 and AOSP ARE different, believe it or not)
So right now, it's kinda split.

Yes yes It's pretty much accepted that teamwiskey is the most legit rom for the vibrant... for froyo... for now.
But cyanogenmod is pretty much the most legit mod for most every other phone out there. (my brother even runs the nightly of cm7 on his myt4g and it's solid as a rock!)
This is a step in the right direction and I'd be way excited to have the option of cyanogen on my vibrant! I can't wait till it's stable enough for me to take the plunge!
Come on guys, the argument seems dumb. More options are good! Competition is good!

None of the Gingerbread ROM's are stable yet. They still have a lot of bugs and battery life isn't where it should be.
I downloaded Atriarc last night and it seems pretty darn stable to me. I was running the Overstock kernel without issue until this morning when my flashing addiction flared up and I decided to try the Tiger Blood kernel. That ran fine for about an hour and then started soft rebooting constantly. I just flashed back to Atriarc and all is well. I have to say I've had exchange issues with email up until this rom, none now.
Atriarc isn't a gingerbread rom.
I just installed Whitehawkx's Gingerbread beta 3. So far it seems like I can use it as a daily driver. Some small issues, of course, but overall good.
White's is better than CM7 for now, better battery life and overall more stable.
Trigger, Atriarc, SweetHoney are my favs besides CM7
CM7 is amazing if you know how to customize it.
I get 14+ hours of battery life on it, not too bad, considering I get home before that and could just charge it.
It's very snappy and oh, no touchwiz, ftmfw.
Sure, GPS doesn't work, but who cares? Mapquest that ****.
Data seems to work fine.
I dun know, but for me, it's a great ROM and it's worth it.

I'm running cm7 nightly from the 12th and after messing with it i'm pretty content. I know everyone's opinion of smooth is hugely subjective but please believe me when I say that I have mine running as smooth as the seemingly accelerated Touchwiz roms. I'm one for smooth transitions and scrolling and this so far is keeping me content.

Eugene's Gingerbread clone R2 final
Hi, I'm on CM7 and it's great. It's very snapy and the web brouser is the fastest of any rom I have tested. I don't see why people say the GPS does not work. It's never worked as well as it's working now. The lock on the GPS is very fast and very good. The compas works aswell but it does not point to north. There are a fiew games that FC on CM7 but most of them do work well. I would say that it is now very close to being a daily use rom and I'm running it on an I9000m with 850mh radio working perfectly. I just added flash 10.2 and it works very fast aswell.

Since I'm a Sense fan, I go with Virtuous Affinity 3.11.0 Alpha 1. It's really smooth, but can be laggy at times. But then remember it's an alpha. But blackwing's ROM has a working camera, so that's a plus 100000. So for me, Virtuous Affinity 3.11.0 Alpha 1 or blackwing's AOKP.

Don't get me wrong all of our developers do an AWESOME job, but there is only so much one can do with limited supplies. And until relative phone has ICS on it, we're going to be stuck with buggy ROMs.

A ROM idea

Hey guys.... I am thinking about making an ICS ROM, well.. 'kanging' off of a CM9 ROM most likely, anyway... I am thinking about making a slimmed-down version of an ICS ROM, it'll be mostly stock, but I'll be adding in tweaks and blah blah blah, what do you guys think? It won't be as good as Papa smurfs, or JMZ's or anyones, but it'll be for people who just want a slimmed down version of a JMZ nigtly most likely (Which I'll obviously give him full credit for), but itll have added tweaks and everything. So... what do you guys think? just be brutally honest, if you think all my ROMs suck and I shouldn't make another one because itll be like the others, then just let me know. We all have our own opinions. But if I released an ICS ROM, would you try it?
I really enjoy your Roms. They can be sort of rough and buggy at 1st but you are very diligent when it comes to updated and listening to people to try and improve them. The end results come out great.

hmm, maybe try re-working your past rom's. if sense extract from ruu exe and build from there, or build from source. get a better understanding of how things interact and make improvements to gb to get an ICS feel with everything working. my2cents.

I 100% agree with Sin,extract the system and boot images from a ruu.exe and go from there, you will get the feel for where everything goes and what they do,plus it wont be kanged from another dev,the easiest way to do that is through the kitchen,it works great for that and extracting kernels.I know theres alot of sense roms out there and you can only do soo much with them, well its the same with ICS and JB,its all the same until the camera and 4G get fixed, dont you think theres enough of those running around that arent complete,at least everything on the sense roms work.Just my opinion.
