I had the same problem on a fresh CM9 install, you should try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809. BetterBatteryStats helps you to find any wakelocks. Anyway I had a partial wakelock because of the ubuntuone client or its authentication process. After I have uninstalled it solved the deep sleep problem. I hope this will help you.

[Q] Need help with my Red lense Defy

OK, so here's my issue: I have a red lense defy that has BL7 on it (I understand it can't be downgraded). I have followed a couple of the rooting methods and I am able to obtain root. My problem is that no matter what custom ROM I install (I've tried most all of them) I can't get my battery to hold a charge. The battery drains dry in about 8 hours with no data, no wifi, no gps or any other activity. I've put the battery in my green lense defy and ruled out it being a bad battery because it works fine in that Defy. I was told that since I have BL7 I have to use Defy+ roms and I think thats killing the battery since I believe the Defy+ comes with a different battery.I have the BF5X 1500mAh battery and have tried all the battery fixes I can find. I tried Quarx's custom kernel along with CM ROM's (both Quarx & Epsylon), MS Ginger, CodeNameAndroid, Slim Bean and so many others but all with the same result. Battery completely dead in under 8 hours.I have tried messing with the overclocking, governers, screen brightness, wiping battery stats, battery calibration and all the other settings that one would think could affect battery life but no luck. So I'm asking for help or suggestions. Any ideas? If any dev's see this, I am completely willing to try or test anything since the phone is no good to me like this. I would really appreciate any suggestions or input. I'd really like to get this phone working right but I have run out of ideas. Help please.
Well, the fact you have BL7 MB526 ROM is not an issue of your red defy.
Would be good if you post screenshots of battery usage stats (both, 1st after clicking on battery usage, 2nd after clicking on diagram)
Also - do you have exactly the same baseband in both defies - required for comparison of battery life? (Improper baseband can cause huge drain)
Other proposal is trying CM7.2 by Maniac for defy+ - my red lense with defy+ stock ROM takes ca 2% during 7h in the night (2G, all the rest off)

Sorry for the delayed response...I use the same baseband for both and the battery usage stats show the screen uses all the battery. That makes no sense since I've reduced brightness by half and the screen turns off after only 15 sec. of idle. I've basically given up on the red lense defy. Its the same result no matter which ROM I flash so there must be something wrong with the handset itself.
I also have a green lense Defy running MIUI 2.4.2, Android 2.3.7, kernel 2.3.32.9.. Can I flash CM10 over that without having to use sbf? I want to be able to return to MIUI if there's any problems because the green lense is my day to day phone and any time I've encountered problems it seems to be after changing sbf. Thanks again for any help.

Anybody have an opinion about my green lense Defy? Would like to try CM10 on it.

Now it was what I asked for. It is really too much for the display (if it is true)
Just to check it try to keep the screen on for an hour (make it in settings) - the battery shall be drained totally then. Send the screenshots again.
Two notes:
Do you really need wifi always on when screen is off? (wifi settings)
Do you really need to keep the unit awaken so much when screen is off?
Concerning green defy - no problem for CM10. But if it's BL4 ensure then to be it froyo 2.2.2 and not a lower version
Thanks for the input. I'll try that with the screen and post screenshots later. I changed the wifi settings but i'm not sure what you mean about keeping the unit awake. What settings would I find that in?
For the green lense, I thought there was a tool for checking bootloader version floating around the forum somewhere but cant seem to find it. The phone has been running MIUI for a long time and I have no idea what sbf was flashed back then. Is there a good, easy (for a noob) way of checking the Bootloader version? Thanks again for all your help, I'll post screenshots later.
Here's the new screenshots.

Concerning screenshoys - as you can see it does not look so bad and it is not a screen that drains the battery. Ca 15% down after almost 2h with a screen on and wifi too is nearly a standard.
You need a battery fix to get 100% (suppose you don't right now) - http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1241322&d=1344093287
You can see in your 2nd screenshots that your unit is awaken a lot (mine for example much often goes to sleep) - it can be caused by some user apps - as an example is an official facebook app which works in a background nearly all the time
Here is BL checking tool in OP, Suppose in post #309 of this thread you will find 'a manual'

[Q] MB525 battery drain in sleep

Hi, i have never had such problem with my previous defys, but the one i recently have makes a huge battery drain during "screen off" (sleep)
in 9 hours it drains 20% of the battery i think it's waaay too much. CM7.2 maniac cpu: 300/19 600/34 1000/54 smartass

Now im using Power Schedule from market, witch basically set an on off schedule for example, for airplane mode. So at nights x time phone goes to airplane mode and at y time turns back to normal, it's not much saving for the battery but now it drains 14% in 9 hours during sleep mode.

[Q] 4.3 battery kernel battery drain

Hi,
I'm running non-rooted 4.3 stock ROM (DBT). Every few days or so Android OS goes into some kind of a CPU frenzy killing my battery According to gsam battery stats it's the kernel. I went to sleep last night and the phone was at 9x%. This morning it was 27%:

A restart will fix this until next time is happens... I did a factory reset about 2 weeks ago so this is more or less a clean install... any ideas? Thanks

Hi.
Try installing BetterBatteryStats app.
Open the app and it will tell u the wakelocks and alarms created from apps that can drain yr battery terribly.
Then post others, partial wakelocks and alarms screenshots in here.
Me too have this problem few days ago and I managed to solve it.
My problem was to turn off the "notification reminder " in settings menu.
That's it.
Cheers..

Massive battery drain when screen is off

So I have my phone like 4 days now and the first day I immediately noticed that when I turn off the screen it drains battery like hell (60+% in one night). It's like the cpu doesn't go to sleep at all.. Sometimes it works fine and looses like 5% at night that's fine for me but then the next day it will loose 10+ % in one hour by doing nothing...
The phone is pure stock, I changed nothing, no root or anything...
This is really annoying have no idea what it could be that drains so much battery.. Already looked if an app was draining but no...
Someone has the same problem? Or maybe knows how to fix this?
Clear the cache.
In case you don't know.
Turn phone off
Hold Home + Power + Volume Up till you see the Samsung logo, then let go of all buttons.
A menu should load - Navigate using vol keys and select using power button.
I had a similar issue and this fixed it for me.

So did it last night but changed not much at all, at most it drains 2% less an hour..
I'm thinking if factory reset would fix it but I don't really wanna do that..

There is an excellent thread on battery life for note5 which you can use to get tips for edge plus too. Here is the link :
http://forums.androidcentral.com/samsung-galaxy-note-5/567125-note-5-battery-life-thread.html
Samsung has provided lot of inbuilt apps like Smart Manager which is like Clean Master you get in Play store.
Open Smart Manager ---> Click on Storage --> click on Detail ---> click on Cache data --> click delete to clean cache.
Lot of people downloaded Greeify, shutupp, wave lock detector and doze which actually use battery. After I uninstalled them battery life increased by 45 minutes.

I agree. Most of the apps that promise to increase battery life degrade it further. In fact, this Paranoia of ours with battery life (keep checking every 10 minutes for battery drop) affects it further.
So, I would suggest uninstall all 3rd party apps. And do not track battery life every instant. And still if you think your battery isn't lasting long enough (check On Screen Time/ Active Time at end of day), contact Samsung.
Hello there!
I had the same problem initially. I wasn't sure which app was causing. So i did a factory reset and reconfigured everything. Now all well. So i guess the best thing would be to backup everything do a factory reset. Then carefully monitor the other app you are installing. There are few that draws lot of power for location services. Then disable that S voice wake up command thingy I am guessing it runs all the time which is not so great. Don't go for Greefiy or any apps like that. Those don't do great job unless you have a Xposed running
So I tried clearing the cache but did noting. I had GPS always on I thought maybe if I turn it off but the same changed nothing.. I don't have any "battery Monitoring" or greenify like app.. Sometimes it works fine but othertimes it drains like crazy doing nothing.. I will try factory reset, hope that will fix this..
Same was here

Hello mate. I faced the same battery drain problem. It wasn't going to deep sleep when screen was off. Last night 6-7 hours screen was off but the device wasted my %19 battery so result was missing the alarm and got late to work etc. Then I rooted and flashing the Arter97 kernel solved this(Now draining about %3). The device is now sleeping deeply like a deeply sleeping baby when screen is off lol.

It's weird. Did u check the arter kernel flashed properly, cpu governor switched to interactive and 'Deep sleep' isn't in 'Unused Cpu States' ? I ask that because my device doesn't waste much battery when the device is in deep sleep(already said). Dunno man I couldn't help any more. Good luck.

Yeah flashing is ok. You can download any kernel app. I'm using Kernel Aduitor, Kcontrol, Trickster Mod Kernel Settings apps. Basically download the first one from Play Store.

The thing is before I flashed the kernel I looked at the deep sleep and it seemed like it deep sleep correctly.. I don't get it

So it's been a couple weeks now and I managed to get a little bit better battery life, drains 15-20% over night before it drained something like 60 70% but battery life is still poor some guys get 7 to 9h SOT I'm can be happy if I get 4 5h..
I'm running custom rom arter kernel tried everything but nothing really fixes completely my problem.. Start to think I have a faulty phone..

Deep sleep issue

I have latest rr rom installed and at night it does not go into deep sleep. I think on other roms a have same problem.
Here is screenshot from cpu spy plus
Now i have Deep sleep on cpu info but my battery still drain a lot during night: it is 30% less any idea? I have franco kernel on rr
I noticed this too, about 20% overnight, nearly on every custom rom. I will turn off the ambient gestures this night, let's see if it gets better. Always on display is off anyway, that should be clear.
Use ForceDoze app to put the device to sleep as soon as you turn the screen OFF.
my ambient gestures is disable.
deep sleep = doze, enter when no sensor cath anything, if you keep night your phone somewhere the sensor feel movements, for exsample, the phone will not enter doze.
use an app for force doze, can work even with no root applying 2 adb command, like naptime, greenify and so on.
No, its your rom/kernel problem, i'm on "other rom" and i dont have this issue, standby only drain 1-3% over night.

Lastest Carbon with inbuilt kernel.
Problem is not with rom nor kernel. There is a problem in the USB port i also have this problem. There is a temporary fix. Not a permanent one.
The temp fix is you need a root browser with root permissions
Go to /sys/module/dwm_msc (or something like that) /parameters then click on the file disable_host_mode and change the value from N to Y
If phone is restarted the value gets reset to N

I think Google Play Services causing you drain, on my stock ROM, Play Services is least active app while on you screenshot it is most active one. Try to, disable, enable and then update it.
