I installed Cyanogenmod 7.2 on my Xperia Arc S. Then installed Google Apps from CM because I needed it, but found out it installs way more google apps than I am comfortable with and tried to get rid of it ever since:
I tried a factory reset via the privacy settings, I tried the data wipe/factory reset via the bootloader menu, I erased all data via the USB connection and re-installed CM -- no success, Google Apps is still there.
I tried hard resetting the phone pressing back and menu buttons and then powering on the phone, but it only boots normally.
Any ideas how I can remove the google apps?`
I'm sure reflashing the kernel and rom will return you to square one, and from there, try installing what you need.

I have a Verizon Galaxy Tab SCH-I800 and I woke up today and it was missing some programs that I had installed the night before. Launcher pro keeps crashing so I had to put the Samsung Launcher back on. Now random programs all keep crashing and locking up the device. I performed a factory reset through settings -> privacy -> perform factory reset.
It restarts and goes to the samsung bootloader and I performed wipedata/factory reset.. It says it does it but when it restarts its in the same condition as before.
I've booted directly to the bootloader and tried it too (volume up and power key). I've also tried to wipe cache with no luck..
Any ideas? Can I root it and put a custom rom on it? I saw that there really aren't any roms for the Verizon tabs.. Any reason why?
Thanks for any help..
I just did a restore with all the stock verizon firmware using heimdall and it flashed and everything went through properly..
I booted into recovery and wiped data/cache and restarted...
SAME THING! It will NOT wipe out my existing data.. It restarts with all of my old programs installed and NOTHING will work.. The OS is hosed. How can I wipe this thing back to factory??

I changed my passwords on Facebook, Twitter and Gmail. After about 30 minutes the tablet finally stopped bringing up my information.
Need help!
Same to me...
I've tried to uninstall some apps several time, GTab automatically rebooted and these apps are still there...

I'm in the same boat..half my apps crash when you try to open them. I've wiped the data partition 3 times, and the cache as well..not avail. Apps are still on the device after a master reset!

I had that problem, and I wound up sending it back to Samsung. It appeared to be a bad part on the board, so they replaced it and it's on its way back now. Not the answer you want, I'm sure, but call it in and get your RMA number.

On your new Tab can you perform a hard reset and have it actually work?
my sprint Tab seems to be in the same boat
My co-worker is going to sell my his Ideos S7, but he seems to be unable to do a factory wipe, and thus will not part with it until he does so.
He says he followed the directions on how to do the factory reset, but it continues to sync his Google account.
Any ideas on what could be done?
From the home screen, he pressed Menu, Settings, Privacy, and then Factory Data Reset? Did he let the process complete all the way, including the two reboots (it reboots once in recovery to wipe, then reboots again into the OS)?
I've used the Factory Data Reset to wipe my tablet 3 times now after messing with it, and never had my google account comeback automatically.
Be careful because it has been confirmed that this method does not remove the intial google login. This means that the new person that uses the device can access your google account and gmail potentially.
Can someone confirm this?
The best way is to flash a new firmware ROM from Huawei.

the dbdata file is corrupted.
1) download this file
http://forum.xda-dev...98&d=1290261479
2) extract it
3) use Odin to flash it under the PDA option
-make sure repartition is UNCHECKED
-do not select any pit file
-leave everything else the same
hi, i got a question, maybe its stupid but i've tried searching and cant find it anywhere.
so my hermes 2.0.1 tab p1000 is under my Google account. and since i've bought the P7500, i'm trying to give the p1000 to my wife. made some google account for her.
the problem:
- i've reset to factory default, no luck (through settings)
- i've reset to factory default, usb format no lick (through settings)
- i've wiped through recovery CWM. still no luck
basically after all above, my programs are still there, my account is also there, and now my tab wont show the flight mode, and data mode when pressed power.. only show the overcome added menu (reboot, recovery, etc)
so any lights on this? should i reflash? i'm confused because all my stuffs is still there in the tab... and i want to clean it up.. hopefully without resorting to reflash.
How are you going into recovery? When the tab is off, hold in power, hold volume up, when you see samsung let go of power. The factory reset will take out everything.
When you reboot, the set up screens should be confirmation of a complete wipe.
Or you could flash the wipe version of overcome rom.
sorry my bad..
i just pressed the recovery option in tab menu.
then it shows different kind of recovery menu... (blue color)
when i do power+up it shows an orange color cwm.. and this one works.. sorry for thetrouble
It's no trouble, it's a good discovery.
I bought an Orange San Francisco which had already been "activated" with the original buyer's Google account details. I can't sign in to Market with my own account and I don't know his password. I tried a factory reset in an attempt to get rid of his Google account, but it's still there after the factory reset.
I've read MANY posts about FTM and hard reset key combinations, but none of them work (vol- and Power; home, vol+ and Power; etc.).
I've tried these instructions: Google "how-to-install-cyanogenmod-to-zte-blade" (I can't post links), but I can't find a fastboot for my OS that works (openSuse 11.4 64bit).
I've tried pressing the reset button next to the SIM card, but it didn't seem to change anything.
Please help me out!
Thanks
Stefan
How about trying the normal way thru Settings > Accounts & sync. Here you should see the existing account under "Manage accounts". Select that account and remove it.
You can install a custom ROM in Blade without any computer, if you don't repartition or format your sdcard. Follow e.g. the instructions here.
sorted
I tried removingthe existing user but it told me that the only way to remove the user was to factory reset, which didn't work.
Seems that the updated Rom Manager I was using was causing the problems. I downgraded to 3.0.1.4 and I was then able to boot in recovery and flash a new ROM.
I wasn't able to get the most recent ROMs working though. They would get stuck on the boot logo. But stable 7.0.0 is working nicely.
Great that the problem is now solved. I suspect you have a gen1 device. If you update that to gen2, you can use new roms as well.
Gen2 Upgrade and Latest ROM
You're right. I had a gen1 phone (ask pigfish told me). I upgraded to gen2 and was then able to flash the latest nightly ROM 179 without hassles.
All running very well now.
I'm a root user, Titanium Backup installed and that's the second time i flash Android 5.0 and after a while i got this error. Tried factory reset, wipe data, wipe cache/dalvik and didn't worked out.
Tried entering in Safe Mode and the error is persistent.
Is there something i can do?
I'm using GalaxyS4 Settings for Froyo~JB (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ion.setting) and with it i'm able to got into some of my settings, but the stock app doesn't work by itself.
Is there some way of flashing the stock Settings app again?
Another weird thing is that my SPen does not take screenshots anymore and that only happens with Android L (5.0).
