Hard Bricked My G Note - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

Hard bricked my note yesterday trying different roms.
Took it over to Samsung Service Centre today & got it fixed in an hour.
They changed the whole board for free as its still under warranty.
If not it would hv cost me Usd 140.
My Note was stuck on the boot screen & refused to load any rom.
So no worries happy rooting as long as its under warranty
Now i m back rooting again, dare to take the challenge & all risk that come with it.

Glad to hear Samsung changed it for free.
But I think it might not free on other country/area, if they check the counter.
Are you in Jakarta or Malaysia?

I'm in jakarta, i don't think they could check the counter or else they would have known i had been rooting

Was on King Droid ICS Rom & wanted to try out Rocket Rom, so did
- download Abyss Kernel 4.2
- put zip-file on your USB-storage
- boot in Recovery
- Flash Abyss Kernel 4.2!!!
- boot back in Recovery (find it under 'advanced')
- now FullWipe!!!
- Flash ROM
- reboot system
-...you are done
But kabooooommmm nothing got stuck on start up screen
Went to recovery did factory reset still nothing
Than lost recovery mode
Than went to download mode try to re instal with Pc Odin still no go just got stuck loading with Pc Odin
So today, went to the Samsung service centre & boom new board & fresh ics loaded & now happily rooting again lol

But most important never tell the service center u were busy rooting your phone when it got bricked.
Just say "was doing ota update & phone rebooted & got stuck in download mode" that's if u don't have any counter & it still shows official firmware

So how can a person tell that they are on the new kernel once they have flashed it to make sure you are safe before doing a wipe??

[stock][rom] 100% safe stock roms ( boot loader removed )

Hey friends
I shall give proper credits after I finish this project so don't complaint about that
I now give u the stock roms which are 100% safe to flash via Odin. I achieved this by removing the boot loader, which is the main reason for any phones hard bricking.
So no tension now, even if your power is gone while flashing stock via odin. If that happens, simply re-flash the rom again after power is back
I need names for all the stock firmwares names for all regions as I don't know. ( I am from mini forums, but my brother owns an Ace )
It will take a week to finish this project becoz I need to dowload and reupload all the firmwares coz I have a very slow connection. So patience
I will upload the following firmwares, but if u want any firmmware not in this just pm me
S5830BVKT3 2012 February France (Orange)
S5830BVKT3 2012 February Spain (Orange)

Well this is also odin flashable and even flashable via pocket odin once its supportable for ace.
This is for noobs who remove cable before "pass" , also for the unlucky ones who bricked their phones becoz of a power lose..

Very nice initiative mate. It'll a gift for users like me who never tried flashing via odin due to afraid of hard bricking it. Will wait for DDKQ8 to upload

Ace have a bootloader, every device must have it. But on Ace the bootloader isn't loocked and he is really simple - we don't have access to it and he's only function is load and run the kernel.

Yes when in doubt all you need to do is flash the stock rom via Odin of cause if you want to keep root you might want to use mobile odin pro

As long as you are flashing a good image and you don't unplug the cable in the middle of it or loose power to your computer.
So using a stock image from samfirmwares would be fine then

indeed they should come in the form of a .md5 file anyway so it will check that it is not corrupt before flashing. You may find that when you reboot the note you get force closes etc just boot into recovery and wipe cache/data to fix this
Thanks a lot buddy really appreciated

[Q] paranoid note user wanting to install paranoid android

if you read my last threads you will know i mashed my other note to pieces....
on my desire i would flash roms 3 each week without messing the phone up, so after messing up my note through formatting through cwm while on ics i am a little/lot scared about doing it again..
so i want a little help if you guys would be so kind
i dont have the new phone with me right now, but this time i am going to learn how NOT to brake the phone before i start playing with it.
so could you please walk me through this, explain to me as you would explain to a child LOL
so as i understand it, i need to keep to gingerbread then root it, go into recovery and flash the rom from there? do i use the normal phone recovery to do this or do i have to install cwm?
i am a little worried about using cwm again tbh, or can i use mobile odin?
i want to know the easiest way, the most fool proof....
damn i was never this worried with my desire.
your probably thinking "if you are so scared then why bother" right? its just the phone is so damn laggy, even compared to my desire which was built by cave men
cheers for the help guys, asuming i get some ofcourse :fingers-crossed:
Start from a gingerbread rom, then fully root it and install clockworkmod, next boot into recovery(volume up+power+home button together). First flash paranoid android rom then flash gapps, lastly wipe data, cache partition and dalvik cache. Reboot and enjoy

Yes, you can flash from one of the supposedly known safe ics kernels to speed the process up BUT if you want to be 100% safe in flashing to any cm9, start with a gingerbread rom.

So is it still okay to root through cwm and then use mobile odin? Are there any decent roms out yet that have decent s pen usage?

I also just received my note from samsung after bricking it with CWM. I am so afraid I might brick it again trying to install paranoid android since I have to wait nearly a month to have my phone back in case anything happen.
Just one question, as long as I'm on paranoid android, can I just format or factory reset my phone through settings or recovery or cwm safely? Thanks a lot.

If you want to install paranoid, its cm based which means no touchwizz apps will work on it as they need the touchwizz framework. That being said, s pen still works fine and there are plenty of alternatives to the s apps (papyrus, memo etc). Also I've read that one of the devs is working on getting the s apps onto cm9 somehow, but not sure who or how its going. Also the cm9 kernel included for the rom is safe from the superbrick bug as its has the cap wlerase command disabled.
PA has a slightly different installation to other roms. I would highly recommend first installing stock rootable gb, root it and install cwm. Once that's in place perform factory reset.
Then download paranoid and g apps and copy them to external SD card.
Then FROM CWM recovery, you flash pa first by "installing zip from SD card", then do the same for g apps straight afterwards.
If you have any fc's or issues, enter back into cwm recovery and wipe cache and dalvik.
Boom, ready to go for full on paranoia
Its a truly great rom, very customisable and as ics should be.

The safe kernel is included in the pa rom, cm9 kernel. So long as you flash it from cwm in gb you're fine it installs it automatically.
Think mobile Odin is only a paid for app... well worth it though. Check the forum, chainfire usually releases free versions to xda community.

If you asked me. I like the stock firmware not cm9 paranoid. Because you will lose your S-Memo, S-Note and S-Planner and also your myfiles and also the MHL. All of this features are important for me. Paranoid is cool firmware but you will loose this apps...

Okay, now that I have that done...Did the wipe through Recovery Screen. The phone won't reboot...it's stuck on M screen upon reboot. What did I do wrong?
PS ~ Looked around on here and it said to do another wipe because of the sticking on Motorola Logo screen...I did that...it still sticks at Logo Screen. Did I brick this phone?? Please tell me I didn't and there is a way to fix this. Battery is fully charged, can take it out and get to recovery screen...it is just not going passed the Logo screen.
you can never loose root from a factory wipe .
From what I know Rom manager and bootstrap dont play nice.
Sounds like it's sbf time.
Listen just sbf, root, install boostrap and be done with it .
Rom manager can be a pita and unless you're going to be installing roms, not worth it imo.
