No auto brightness after replacing touchscreen - G2 and Desire Z General

Hi all,
I noticed there were a few threads about brightness being stuck on the lowest setting after LCD replacement, but that's not my issue. So here goes...
I replaced the LCD and touchscreen on my DZ with ones I got on Ebay. The touchscreen is from a G2 and seems darker than the old HTC - I can't as easily make out the brightness sensor on the front as I used to.
After reassembling the phone and reflashing my rom, I notice that the brightness sensor isnt working. Is this a consequence of the glass over the sensor not having a cutout, or being too dark? Or is it that I need to set a different configuration as my phone now has a G2 touchscreen? Or is it something else completely?
All other phone functions including the proximity sensor are working.

help???

i have the wizard and the screen broke the LCD display is intact no bleeding and displays everything fine but the backlight doesn't work...Do i just replace the touchscreen or the whole LCD unit for the backlight to work?
Are you sure?
Are you sure the backlight is broken? There have been several software conflicts that turn the backlight off.
Otherwise I don't know, but there is an HTC disassembly manual on the board somewhere.
no i checked everything and the backlight was working before the touchscreen broke and stopped right after....does the touchscreen have anything to do with the backlight?

I succesfully replaced my screen in my Tytn but...

Everytime i touch my screen or phone, the brightness goes to maximum (as bright as the camera) when i don't touch it, it goes back to normal. Pretty fancy effect, but i doubt that's good for the battery life. I checked all connectors (including camera on mainboard) and everything seems fine.
Any ideas what could be wrong?
So, the display doesn't go off completely until the phone suspends? If that's the case then you got a transmissive display. I hope your previous display wasn't a transflective one, otherwise your replacement was a downgrade...
The backlight goes off after 20 seconds (its configured like that) and then it doesn't flicker anymore. It only does the flickering (normal backlight => i touch it => maximum brightness => i don't touch it => normal backlight) when the backlight is activated.
The weird thing is, that it also does this when i touch the case and not the screen, this makes me think that it's fixable.
I need some help here: what exactly is the difference between a transmissive and a transflective display?
Problem solved. There was not enough pressure on the back of the upper side of the slider. Put in a little piece of plastic to keep the pressure on the connectors. Now working fine.

[Q] After phonecall screen don't weak up

I have latest Typhoon CM7 and after phonecall screen do not weak up. Phone is working (f.ex. i'm getting sms) but screen is black only buttons under screen is lighting. I read about it bug on few others forums but nobody know what is it. Moreover i have broken screen, i don't know does it matter.
could be a proximity sensor issue: when the problem occur just try to wake up the phone by putting a light source near the sensor (a lighter does the job) and see if the screen react. (see also this)
Trick with lighter working. So i must change touch screen. When i will do it, must I do something different for ex. clean light sensor?
before to change the screen i would look if it's possible to calibrate the sensor with some app. Or maybe it's just dust steady between glass/sensor so opening the phone (very carefully and following some good guide) and clean off may do the trick.
Same problem, no help, however in ICS after call you just press back button and screen comes on ^^
Try recalibrating the sensor as described above first
here's one app: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=951858
Also try disabling auto brightness. and make sure you set a profile in setCPU with clock speed more than 800 MHz when in call, in case you're using setCPU.
the last tip makes the screen turn on faster after call, but if it's a sensor issue it won't help.
I used to have the same issue, it was caused by dust between the screen and the sensor. Worked fine after I cleaned behind the glass.

[Q] Could use some hardware help

My daughter's device has been having all sorts of problems. Her backlight stopped working so I replaced the Digitizer and the LCD screen but that didn't help at all. The calibration doesn't work and the screen won't rotate. In addition, her headphone jack is on the blink as well. Do I need to replace the motherboard flex cable or is there something else going on? The ambient light sensor seems to be on the fritz as well which might explain the backlight not working. The phone is using stock Android. Thanks for all and any help.

[Q] Proximity sensor always show "near" after front frame and digitizer replacement

[Q] Proximity sensor always show "near" after front frame and digitizer replacement
I had a white Defy plus. I replacement a new black frame and new digitizer. Trouble is, the proximity sensor doesn't work now! I downloaded the telephony tester app on Google Play, and the app show, that the proximity sensor sensitive always "near", like is there something in front of the sensor. But nothing is front of the sensor. I checked it several time.
I think the new digitizer is thicker, or forward than the old. It's sure not software problem, because of the old frame and digitizer don't show this problem.
Any inputs on what the problem could be would be very helpful.
Sorry my bad english.
