Hey folks long time member just got a n7
i have flashed a custom rom on it and i dont have a clue how to get the google play store back on it have googled it with no joy, any member out there able to give me a quick guide
G
ROMs generally come separately from "gapps" due to some legal crap. Right after you flash a ROM, you'll want to also flash gapps.
(Note: some of them do include gapps anyway, so this advice wouldn't apply. Always read the thread carefully and see what the author says.)
If your ROM thread links to a gapps, you'll want to use that one. The one for CM10 can be found here.
brilliant i shall check it out,i presume gapps is the google app store .been puzzled for the last couple hours trying work it out, im old skool htc hd2 now nexus 7
Ah, gapps actually stands for google apps.. it includes the play store along with the gmail.. maps.. etc.

Gapps is just "google apps". I think it pretty much always includes the play store and gmail, and might also include youtube, google books, google music, etc.
Edit: ninjaed

Correct.
I'm loving my n7 at the moment and don't want to root it like I have with my other androids. I just want to know if anyone has information on when gwallet comes to the UK.
Google first said it will be in Q1 of 2012 which soon changed to in time before the Olympics. Now we're half way though the Olympics and Google hasn't said or done anything.
Its come to look like Google are terrible at release dates, as I had problems with Google giving dates when getting my n7, and now this. They also had big problems with the Q.
I also want to get the tablet home screen in landscape whilst keeping the softkeys as they are, any recommendations ?
I've tried apex but it wastes too much space and nova and stock are just the phone ui landscape.
Once again I'm trying to hold back from rooting.
Thanks.

Google have never given any such dates for the release of Google Wallet; you can't complain about them not meeting deadlines that they did not provide. The only passing comment that Google have made about Google Wallet's European release is that they want to have it in a European city before the end of 2012.
There was unofficial hints about Google Wallet being out for the Olympics but that obviously never happened. Its looking like the Visa NFC app will launch before Google Wallet does.
But as the guy above this post said, Google never officially said anything.
it saddens me to read how its stillnot available...hopefully we will get google wallet here in the uk soon...mean only been waiting for google play music app for uk only been like years plus 3d maps lol
I've managed to get Google music using a proxy, you should, its only to sign up, once you have you can use cloud music as much as you want, you cant buy songs though.

Nexus 7 is just been released in Singapore, and I'm wondering whether it is worth to buy it without access to Google Play Music, Play Movies and Play Books.

Yes, the Play Store's apps make it amazing by itself.
Let alone the ability to side-load things anyway, so this doesn't effect you.
Also like the above poster, there are VPN tunnels etc so you can make it think your US.
I've tried VPN in my SGS3,but not sure if they're safe. What vpn do you guys use?

Hello everybody, first post here but been a lurker here for the past few weeks with my new s3.
Ever since I moved overseas from the US their has been many limitations of the web, the play store in my country, i dont mean to be mean, is complete $%#@, most of the s3 owners are perverts, the most downloaded app is something about Naked Ladies. Anyway, I have a rooted phone and I really don't want to use any kind of VPN, their slow, unreilable, and make me put on a passcode which I don't want.
If their is any tweak or hack to get the US playstore that would be wonderful to share, plus I have a US credit card and make sure my phone doesn't use my location services.
Thanks for reading (=

Play store should use localization from the firmware, me thinks. Also, checks build.prop.
If you got a international SGS3 one easy solution would be to flash a European (UK could be best for you) firmware and CSC, then setting localisation to UK. Or, you can flash a AOSP firmware which should be location "free" (except for localisation in settings for UI/Keyboard etc). The AOSP/AOKP builds around are still not 100% perfect though, if you care about such things.
Google for market enabler...
it might give you the apps available in the US but not the services like books, music, movies...

If you can, may please post a link of one?
And what if you already have a custom rom?
I used Market enabler but used a VPN to get free scrabble from US play store but uninstalled them after that, but can still see scrabble in account

Market enabler is the way to go. The play store region is determined by a combination of carrier & country code from your SIM + geo-IP.

Market Enabler PLUS DroidVPN .

Here ya go... enjoy. BTW what country are you in?
http://db.tt/fAIzvXTc
I'm in China and I have the same problem. Market enabler allows you to SEE the apps from another country but you still can't buy them. So it's a little bit anoying. If you go on Google play from a computer you can see all the apps.
I've bought apps fine with the market enabler.
Has anyone elses movies box in the play store dissappeared? mine has. but i can still access it on my phone.
in fact books has gone too
I still have movies in Google play actually everything is there. Is your nexus rooted?

Are you abroad at the moment? If you have a wifi only nexus 7 device, market is tailored to each specific country you are accessing the play store through. That could be the reason why you can access it on your phone because you are using a provider from a country that has access to those google features. Not all countries have access to movies or books from the google market.
I am in the UK. i havent changed anything afaik. and the fact that certain things are one phone but not tablet. im rooted and bootloader unlocked using the latest stock build

Odd then. Well if you are up for it, a possible solution to dance around the problem (although it doesn't necessarily solve it...) would be to follow this guide to gain access to those services again: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28259205#post28259205
Your device is already rooted so that saves you one big step. It's simply a way to get around Play store blocks on its features, so it will *maybe* fix your problem since its the Play store that is preventing your device from accessing google movies and books.
