Hi all, just got an international note on ebay from a woman in Texas. Phone had never been activated. Set it up on Straight Talk and it has an official ICS update that it asked me to install. Lucky me!

I love it when people post totally misleading threads :roll eyes:
Does anyone know the possible timeframe for EUX's ICS rollout? I'm in the US and don't want to root. The waiting is killing me.

Not sure how it is misleading. I turned it on and it said there was an update. Not sure why mine only would get the update in the USA. Im not rooted nor do I have any special ROMS.

You do realise that the ICS update availability is based on the actual firmware on the phone regardless of your physical location right? You could be in Iraq, China, Africa, etc, and still be able to receive the same exact update. That means your phone's origin region has ICS released already (check out the ICS released list on the forum). Just because you bought the phone from in the USA doesn't necessarily make it a USA phone.

That is your csc, your phones csc. You can change it but would likely have to change rom to stock from that country to getvthe csc you want. Plus you will get data wiped and doesnt always gaurantee upgradability, sometime may need to try different stockroms from that cscs in order to upgrade throught ota and or kies. Tedious proces.
On that note, samsung should have smartified their multi country rollouts. Less roms to maintain, etc. This is ridiculious lmao

If you could remember i was on this Dummy update so i decided to go back to xxkf3 this morning . Immediately after installing through odin i checked for update via OTA and i got this
Nothing here,i run KE7 2.3.3
Has anyone else got it ?
Somehow you have ended up with a test phone i reckon .

You mean the phone i bought from very.co.uk for 600pounds with my own money should be a test phone.

You are lucky, on the Sensation forums there was a guy who bought a Sensation and got by accident an eng off, rooted phone whilst the rest of the world was stuck with a locked bootloader.
I guess for devs your phone could be worth more than what you paid for it
Well maybe am lucky. I was wondering really why i get the update before everybody. The last time was xxkh5 which samsung manage to change to a dummy update. But this time i have learnt my leason .
what provider you you have? csc?

We think that these updates are only meant for Samsung staff and some how your phone got added to the list of test phones -- it explains why you and nobody else gets them.
My guess this happen because you installed a leaked firmware from samfirmware.com. Remember these leaked firmware could be test builds for internal staff use only. May be something happened on this leaked firmware that got your phone added to the list of staff test phones.
Are there any new great and wonderful features you can see in this update? (It could be months and months before they release any updates for the rest of us!)
Tweet from Samfirmware.com: First roms with Android 2.3.5 for Galaxy S II will be online this month.
Robbielicious has got the leaked firmware, but it's not yet ready for release: "in my possesiosn but in my believe not worthy o releasing just yet"
Darky's crew are now working with Samfirmware.com (i9000 version released about an hour ago) so I imagine the i9100 version will be released as soon as it is ready.
The ki1 update
The update is quiet good. The new goodies on the update are something
1. on the top where the 3g is , we have h+ and R . It really helps me a lot because formally when i visit our basement at my working place i normally lost connection. after i have to reboot my phone but in this case no more rebooting. The batterie life is very amaizing. Internet super fast.
Thanks samsung for the great work done.

The time has finally come; Samsung has started the rollout for the ICS today. This also includes ICS for the Galaxy Note.
I'm not from there, so I still have to wait, as do a lot. But some of you must be clicking the update button on their Notes right about now, if you're from that region.
Let us know how you like it, and let's hope that the rest of us will get it soon as well!
Finally!
I hope us sim-free owner are not left till last.
John.
Nice to see some update on the ICS for note. Now I am sure there would be many more stable rom's based on the new ICS by our chef's which will only improve the experience better.
Hail Samsung Hail XDA - though will have to wait until Indian version is released.
Finally, some good news about rolling out ICS for the Galaxy Note!
Who knows when will it come to Serbia and Europe, but glad to see some progress. I'm happy with the phone as it is right now but I'm excited about the update.
Canadian eh?
Yeah, you're one of the lucky few for now
Do they use the same N7000? If so we should expect sammobile to have the odin flash tar soon

Totally defies logic that sim free folks get left till last.
i highly doubt they will leave us sim free/unlocked for last. Just doesn't seem right. But then again this is samsung so you never know what they'll do.
I think the phone networks help with the testing, also add branding at the same time, no help with testing sim-free phones for compatibility, that can have any networks sim card installed.

so ,some one had update for Note ?or only s2 in canada .fuc.k samsung
Is there an app to automatically check for an update, say every 30 mins or so, just leave it running.

Actually, ICS isn't all that bad.
Haven't been in this forum in awhile. Last I read, the initial official ICS upgrades were buggy, esp with wifi issues. Is this UK version solid? Any known issues? Thanks!
I was full of anticipation when I read the op message, but. STILL, no official update available for P6800. Why is it that since purchasing this device over one year ago, I have not had ONE official ota update for my SIM free, unrooted UK p6800? Neither can I update via Kies! I still have gingerbread for gods sake! Am I the only one in UK with this frustration?

your device might not be Uk origin... it might be import from HK or other countries... so Kies OTA wont work... dont wait any longer... just download the firmware and flash using odin... all the tutorial are here... its as simple as follow it... and you'll have JB (although currently only SEA region release)

You probably mean Honeycomb. The P6800 has never had Gingerbread.
The best choice for any Samsung device is to upgrade using Odin (or Mobile Odin). Kies is seriously bad (iTunes-level bad), and the OTA never worked for me except for minor updates. You can be on Jelly Bean for your P6800 right now, if you want to.

They need to make translations for specific countries,or another reason.there is always paperwork, even though it is stupid, and not needed in this case.
I also do not understand the update policy from Samsung. It can not be so hard to roll out a fix for all at the same time(nearly).
i personally find Samsung update policy to be retarded. Acer were able to announce a month or so out when an update would be available, at least Acer Australia would, they might miss the mark by a week or two, but they put that out there. Samsung NZ says they are not advised of when an update will take place until the week it will be released in NZ.
At least to me this is where Apple and Windows are better, they roll out an update it goes to everyone regardless of country and carrier in the case of phones. Android the developers and the carriers screw around to where updates can take half a year to reach the product once Google release it.
weird that you have to wait 5 minutes to edit a mistake out of a post. ok for new members but when you have been a member for over a year.

I was talking to my friend who owns an iphone 5 and the tab 10.1,and he agreed that SAMSUNGs policy with updating, and updating between devices is crappy. And he laughed when i explained how my 2 gen tab will end on the same upgrade like his 1st gen tab :silly:
Hey guys, I know this has been posted before, but I need to know specifically where my phone is from..I have the SM-G900M. I think this model is very rare. I hardly see any posts regarding it. I live in the USA on TMobile. When I do a search, I am finding different countries...Brazil, Argentina, Dominican Republic, Chile, Panama. Colombia, Mexico and Peru. Is there anything in "About phone" that can allow me to pinpoint which country?
I am having issues with the power button not always waking up my device, so I wanted to know if a software update will fix it. My device is telling me that the latest software is G900MUBU1ANCE; however, doing a search online, I am finding another update, G900MUBU1ANE2. I need to know which is the most up to date. Any feedback on this would be great!

Thanks for this! Just discovered my phone's software ties to Trinidad and Tobago. They are still stuck on the previous firmware. Wish I knew when the update would be rolling out for all SM-900M's. This power button thing is driving me crazy and I know it's software related because it doesn't happen all the time. I don't want to have to send my phone all the way to the Caribbean and back only to hear that they were not able to replicate the issue.

Yes, I had.
I have this phone for about one month now and I remember having this issue during the first week, It would take too long for the screen to light up after pressing the power button. I sideloaded Google Now Launcher and the problem went away.
Yesterday I update the firmware for the version above and everything is good so far. I´m using the standard TouchWiz.

planning to travel to US and buy one of the variants of the S5 to use it in Mexico. Do you think the 'A' variant would be a better choice than 'M'? I want to make sure that whatever phone I buy will get the latest and greatest official/OTA Android version or at least there is enough ROM development to support a few years of usage.
BTW, is Samsung providing official OTA for 5.1.1 on this variant?
