Figured out this solution when I wanted to play Mass Effect Infiltrator on my Tab. It has addressed my other issue with more recent games installing fine then crashing when playing.
Solution: Adjust screen density to 180 or above. 180 seems to be a safe number and has little to no distortion to the UI. -Cheers
I am currently using cm9, and only ever have issues with mass effect when I am not connected to the internet. Other than that, I personally haven't had any problems with the game.

Hi all,
have you guys experienced insensitive screen when playing games that have joystick like in 9mm, where sometimes the joystick would get stuck in a direction and you would need to touch it again to release it from the stuck position.
Imo, this really affects gaming...

Never had any sensitive problem. I didn't try 9mm, but it could be software. Maybe a bug of the game.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Of course this happens only when i play 9mm... Not in any daily use.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
I used to play a lot GuerrilaBob and I am sure I have never noticed anything wrong. Try another game with the same joystick mechanism.

9Mm is running smoothly on mine. Controls are fluid and games in general run lag free for me.maybe it's rom related, am running checkrom v5 btw.
i have this problem in PES2011, too. i will have a look for it this evening in 9mm. and i know other poeple having issue this in PES2011.
i think, it's a problem of the touchpad driver, but i have this on different ROMs, from KE7 to KI3, with and without torchpad lag fix.
and it only occurs when you touch the joystick continuously. if i play PES2011 and drop off the joystick just every few seconds the problem does not appear.
hope this helps
Videos played by my nexus have an odd choppy feel. Every five seconds or so, the player pauses for a very noticeable moment, then continues. Is anyone else experiencing this?

No problems regarding smoothness.
The only problem I have is that nothing seems to have audio (using mxPlayer)

Now I seem to have problems with games. Is this a hardware issue or OS related?

No. My nexus runs very well. Are you on 4.1.1

Yes.
Is it a background app causing it? I read about a few phones having this issue in the past.

I'm on 4.1.1, not rooted and I've noticed the same problem. When playing a video or certain games every 5 seconds or so there is a slight pause. I've tried different video players and still the same issue.

Having the same issues but it seems to happen more with games especially tegra 3 games like a riptide. the funny thing is is I swear I remember playing riptide and It had no lag. I can't remember whether it was prior to the 4.11 update.
Same here! I tried watching the Transformer movie we got for free and it kept freezing up! This is irritating, I'm going to try a factory reset. I'm exchanging this thing any way cause the headphone jack is defective.
From my long awaited and totally worth it EVO LTE!
Same issue here after upgrading to 4.1.1. Anyone here having this issue on a custom ROM? If not then I'm flashing a ROM ASAP.

Try other video players (MX Player, BSPlayer)
Was this apparent before 4.1.1? I just got my 7 yesterday and updated right away and do notice the stutter w/ my high profile 720p vids. On my Prime stuttering was fixed with over clocking and running an interactive governer.
Edit: this is for 720p high profile movies stored on the device, happening w/ dice player and MX player. Don't use stock since it doesn't support ac3 audio.
stock n7 with latest ota updates, unlocked and rooted. No problem playing any game and video, either stream from play store (transformer movie) or stream my my home network.

It doesn't matter if it's on the device or not, it happens when I stream the transformer movie and/or any YouTube video. I'm about to return this back to Google if I don't find a solution soon. Going to try a data factory reset and see if that helps.

Yeah looks like its happening for me on YouTube as well.
I just put a video on my device from my PC and it played fine. But if I stream anything it plays like crap
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
Did some more testing. Tried the stock player and no stutter but no sound due to no ac3 support. I have another 7 coming in on Monday and will test that one leaving it as is (before 4.1.1 update)
I just got off the phone with Google and they said it's probably a issue with my router streaming media on the device. I'm going to test another WiFi connection sometime soon and see if the issue persist or not.

I'm having problems with this, I can't watch a single video on this device without the lag. I've tried the youtube app, Netflix, dice player and a few other video apps and everyone of those lag.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Is it just me, or is the YouTube app really slow to load videos? And when I skip ahead or go back, it just refuses to go, even after twenty minutes of "loading".
I went to go to the play store to give a comment that is was being slow, and then I realized it said the app wasn't compatible, and the YouTube app we have isn't the same as the one from the play store.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
I have this same issue. Youtube app is so slow in loading videos that it is unusable on my Nexus 7. Using Youtube via browser is a bit better but still way too slow. Does anyone know what might be causing this?
Btw, what do you mean by different app? I think nexus7 yt app is certainly the same app as the one on Play store..
Not for me. Videos start streaming nearly instantly on the YouTube app. I jut tried a random HD video. It started in ~one second. I tried changing the location slider and it responded fluidly.
In fact, this is one of the things I like a lot about the nexus 7.
I have noticed that while Netflix is very responsive its try difficult to get the position slider to nudge just a little forward or back.
Stock, rooted.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
That is strange because for me, it just keeps "loading" forever when I try to watch a video (the menus and search etc. still work nice and fast in the Youtube app).
Maybe I should do a factory reset to see if that fixes this issue. My Nexus is stock, unrooted. I love the way this tablet handles but this issue is driving me crazy..

I've noticed youtube videos take a while to start but once they've started there's no buffering issues and skipping to different parts works fine,
It seems Nexus 7 doesn’t like my internet connection / wlan router (Cisco epc3825).
When using 3G connection (using my Galaxy Nexus as wlan access point), Youtube works fine. But with my 40mbps cable connection, it’s a no go.
This sucks, especially since my 1st gen iPad works fine using the same connection. I guess there is no workaround other than to buy a new wlan router - anyone know of one that would work well with Nexus7?

EDIT: I switched to Zyxel router and everything works fine again.
Guys, i had the same problem and i just went into play store and deleted the last update.... There are a bunch of bad reviews for the latest update... Give it a try, it might work for ya as well ^-^
I tested with the stock rom and it loads fast. With custom roms it loads slow. Check it out.....

I have been having some pretty consistent problems with my youtube app, and while trying to play youtube videos on Dolphin or Boat browsers in general. Mainly they occur when I try to play fullscreen hd youtube videos. While on the youtube app, the app quickly loads around half or one-third of the video. The video plays well enough till the point the video has been loaded and then gets stuck. If I try to go back or do anything at all the whole app gets hanged.
On the browsers, the problem is a bit different. Earlier on stock Roms, aokp pub and aokp by task650, and on paranoid android (all roms on 4.2.2) the browsers while playing videos in fullscreen hd would not only hang up but kill ALL background processes. I would then have to restart these processes (such as avast, orientation control etc). However now am on a rom called Vanilla rootbox which is a combination of aokp and PA type rom. Here the background processes aren't killed but the video wouldn't play at all in fullscreen, whether hd or not.
I have no problems playing videos in any size less than fullscreen in either the youtube app or the browsers, whether hd or not.
I have been wondering if my screen lcd density could be a reason for this, or if there is problems with the per app dpi I have set. I have tried changing them but haven't seen much improvement. this could be the case, what should I preferebly keep the screen or the youtube app dpi as to avoid this problem?
Any help would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance to anyone who replies.

I don't really have a problem with HD videos on YouTube on full screen. I'm running just stock and only the YouTube app. I'm thinking that maybe you need to free up some more memory or check your wifi. I have noticed that when I had an antivirus app it slowed everything down and I had random reboots. Sorry if this isn't the answer your looking for, but its something.

I have more and less narrowed down the problem to being related to my screen density. With 320p youtube app is working, browsers hang on full screen mode for youtube.

I know someone else somewhere had a similar issue (YouTube would crash on going full screen), and they narrowed it down to an issue with having the Notification/Navbar at top/bottom hidden... apparently this threw off the screen size and pixel density enough to make You-Tube freak out.
Not sure if you have this option on those ROMs, and if you have it on... but thought it might be worth throwing out there.
Hey I'm running the 06/19 nightly with project direct inject 1.0.2 and I'm not sure if this is rom related or not but I'm getting some really weird stuttering going on while running my Netflix app. at first I thought it was Internet related but I turned everything off Internet related except my nexus 7 and it still was happening. then I thought app related but it runs just fine on my Samsung epic touch 4g no stutter so now I'm kinda at a loss I've uninstalled and reinstalled it to no avail. Anyone else having this problem? I really don't want to start from scratch with this tablet but I use Netflix a lot on here and the stuttering at times makes video almost unwatchable every 5-10 seconds. Any/all help is much appreciated.

Apparently this was a software problem after all and has been fixed (st least on my n7) by Netflix

I too had this problem. I tried running like 4 different roms and still had the netflix stutter. I just updated to the newest version of the Netflix app today and no stutters.
