use ps3 controller to play modern combat 3 - Acer Iconia A500

I've gotten my ps3 controller to work on my emulators but idk how to get it to work for modern combat 3 can any help me out?

Sixaxis and a profile found in a few threads on the forum, work great. Search on main forum I think its under android general or something

I have six axis I have the controller app I have my ps3 controller working on my emulator I just can't find the input options in modern combat that's what I'm trying to figure out

Modern Combat won't work with a controller. You need to map the keys to screen locations in sixaxis. This is true for all gameloft games AFAIK.

I'm having this problem. I mean I figured out how to get to a point where I can map button. But when trying to map the left and right analog sticks to move around/ run and to move the gun around. I've tried for hours and can't get it right. Been searching everywhere including an article on phone buff but I still can't get it. So dam frustrated...

Which game are you trying to map for? I find that sometimes you have to work with the size of the analog stick on the map and it has to be centered at the exact location if the game uses a set location for the analogs. To set up my buttons I use a screen capture of the game and that helps... sometimes trying to get a screen capture puts the game in a "pause" state... at that point I use a grease pen or whiteboard marker to mark the button locations on the screen then open six axis and map them... hope this helps.

Hey thank you reply. Im using the USb/bt Joystick app and Modern Combat 3.
I'm having one major problem with the right analog/moving then gun around. No matter what I do all I can get is up-moves right right-moves down down- moves left and left-moves up. Understand what I'm saying?
Its so weird. I cant understand it. Sucks so bad.

PSX Emulation on this thing.

So I got an Iconia today and I;m trying to put it through its paces. SNES emulation works fine but I'm having a war of a time getting PS1 emulation to work. I've got both PSX4Droid and FPse on this thing. I've got the playstaion bios and a .bin image of Tekken 3 that I ripped.
psx4droid won't run the game at all. The controls show up but then it immediately shows "unexpected error..." message.
FPse will actually run the game but the onscreen controlls wont respond. If I "Eject" the game it'll go to the Title screen and I can control up and down but nothing else.
I've seen posts stating that people have gotten PSX emulation to work on this, but none that detail just how. Any help in this recard would be greatly appreciated as I've only got 2 weeks to decide if I'm keeping this thing.
Edit(I have FPse working somewhat?: Ok I did some more poking around and I think I have something here. Looks like it was a matter of the start button not showing up on screen. Turning it to portrait got all the controls on screen and it actually was responding to the button presses. In order to get it to run smoothly I had to crank up frame skip but it'd showing 60fps. Does that even make sense?
I had all these same problems so i fell back on my old computer repair days experience. Some times newer is not always better ... I couldnt get any of the newer versions of psx4droid to run or even load games right. so afetr some digging i found the maker of psx4droid for a short while made one he called psx4droidv2 but for what ever reason he does not have it on his site. so I just googled it what your looking for is psx4droidv2 1.1.2 you just instal it like normal and put the bios files and game files all in same folder and I am up and running like a champ on my iconia everything loads and works. it even lets me do away with on screen controls and use my ps3 controller to play the games, you just have to map the buttons but is easy.
Hope this helps if so give me thanks.

Well it runs with is more than I can say for the first version of psx4droid that I'd downloaded. Unfortunately It doesn't seem to run at a solid frame rate. Also the screen scales too skinny.
That kind of settings do you have yours set to?
On another note, I've gotten FPse running at a consistent frame rate but there seems to be some games that simply won't play with it (Megaman Legends 2).

Anyone using a PS3 controller on their A500?

Anyone using a PS3 Sixxaxis controller on their A500 under ICS?
Are we using this application:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...5ncGl4ZWxzdHVkaW9zLnNpeGF4aXNjb250cm9sbGVyIl0.
Or is there another way due to the built in ICS support for controllers?
So far that's the best way that I know of. I use it when I play MC3, 9mm or GTA and others. Look for profiles here at XDA or do a nice Google search for sixaxis profiles. You should find plenty.
The Sixaxis seems to work without the program. I went in while it was plugged in and set my input device to game controller and enabled it. When I plug in the controller I just press the PS button and it works. Well it works for Dead trigger which supports native controllers.
Its too late already spent the $2 on Sixaxis, but does that app do anything that the native android support doesn't?
A lot of games (Gameloft games for an example) do not have controller support built in. So whether you need it or not depends on which games you play. The games with native support built in handle it much better than having to use the app, but on the ones that don't, SixAxis helps.

Ok cool, just wanted to make sure I didn't waste my 2 bucks.
Not at all. You will really like it if you get some Gameloft games like Modern Combat 3. It's pretty sweet playing the game on a big tv via hdmi while using a wireless remote. Just be sure and if you buy their games, get them through the play store. You'll get to install the games over an over when flashing different roms. If you mess with Gameloft directly you'll have less than a good time sending emails back and forth. Don't get me wrong, they always fix the problems and toss in bonus stuff for the trouble. But it's so much easier to just hit the play store.

Ohh I've learned already about them. I have a ton of their games on Xperia Play but I had to buy direct from them because they made specific versions with Play controls enabled, the Google Play store versions wouldn't work. They've since stopped this practice, but they had done it on purpose to gouge people who bought the "gaming phone".
Mine works with out anything extra on GTAIII. I hate though that the controls are mapped wrong and that you can't remap them. For example, Square is X. Doesn't seem to be a GTAIII problem as using the controler to navigate the home screen does the same thing.

if you have sixaxis installed i can easily make or show you how to make a button map for gta3 and any other games it is really piss easy.
say like left analogue stick, you just select left analogue stick from menu and drag-n-drop it to where you want. same for button square, x, o , triangle...,,,,etc
I am using the sixaxis program and it works great. I too put off spending the $2 dollars and wish I had bought it sooner. Other than the few emulators I have needed to be told to allow for the controller to control the game even though it would allow me to assign buttons. No lag or other problems with the nes, snes, and genesis emulators that I have tried.

Hey, I was hoping for some help pairing my Acer A500 to me PS3 controller. I have bluetooth on and search and I push the PS button but they don't seem to find each other. It is also paired with the PS3 as my backup or player 2 controller.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Edit: Well I got it to work, I had too root and install Sixixis and I can now use my ps3 controller wireless. Root took all of 5 mins. Now I need to test it out.
I will test with a CM rom, I hope it works

Minecraft with wii classic controller possible.

I have been researching this all day... Is there any way to play minecraft on the nexus 7 with a wii classic controller is something similar? if so. What app or settings do i need.
Thanks
No. Unless there is a cable converter to usb for wii classic controller.
There are many ways to get the wiimote and classic or sixaxis or the Logitech line of controllers to work with Android.
Some games have the ability to map controllers and others don't.
First the wiimote will have to be tested to see if it can even attach to the N7.
You can download wiimote controller app from the playstore and see if it attaches properly. Bluetooth is requires on the tablet/phone.
Now that app is simple enough there is another app that goes to extreme lengths to give you lots of options. USB/BT Joystick Center 6 will allow the largest selection of controllers/keyboard/mice to be used in lots of fashions. This app will need the Joystick2Touch add-on to allow touch inputs for other games that you cannot map to. It sets up the controllers in the same fashion the sixaxis app does for the sixaxis controller. There is also other apps and controllers like Bluez IME and Gamepad Enabler that allow other controllers to have very narrow but perfect support with little fuss on setting up. But as I said Joystick center covers all that but you must take some time to get it all to work.
Now what you can do with that is limitless, but I must tell you have tried.
The problem with some games is they have to much dependency on the touchscreen. Minecraft is one of those. I was able to map the walk, but not the look around. Also anytime you entered a menu that had lots of choices, i.e. inventory or a chest, there was simply no way to map all the spots so touching the screen was the only way to make it happen. I have asked the devs to add directional pad support for those areas to that moving the d-pad would move a highlight around to the different boxes. I also asked if they could add support for joystick looking around. I never received a response.
There is also a new controller on the market called Moga. It looks promising, but again support stems back to the developer of the game and whether they can be bothered to work on it.
So in short, yes you can control lots of games and apps with controllers, you just have to take the time to maps them out, but once you do it is a joy to play Android games on the big screen!

Shield touchscreen mapping stuff

Soooo, I've been trying to map some controls to touchscreen and it seemed to be going pretty good, until.....MINECRAFT!
I don't like the built in Minecraft mapping mode at all, having to hold then release a button at just the right moment to move the camera without picking away blocks is like trying to grab flies in mid-air.
I just would like the gesture mapping button to do what tincore does, while you're holding the gesture mapped button, it continually replays the same gesture over and over. I feel I could have made it work really well if this was possible. Although, I haven't done a whole lot with switching pages if that would help, not sure though.
I just thought maybe some people would like to share some sweet button layout tricks with everyone?
Personally, I've found it's almost easier to map right analog directions to short burst gesture directions and just hit the stick repeatedly. It wasn't ideal, but I like it more than the regular layout.
I like that the mapping is built in so that we don't have to run an additional app before running a game.
However, I will probably stick with Tincore for the time being due to the way the dpad is implemented. I don't like how each direction on the dpad can only be set up as a single touch. I want the dpad to emulate a joystick (north, south, east and west only) so that I can use it to move my character in a game like Final Fantasy 3. The way nVidia has done it you assign the dpad just like you assign the ABXY buttons which doesn't work for movement control in touch games that use a virtual slider type joystick where you touch then slide your thumb to move. On a static joystick that remains in one place on the screen it works fine.

I guess they will end improving it. Besides being targeted to only one device will make easy to have a big library of mappings for the more
'susceptible to frustration' users.
What I noticed with mapping is that if you offer enough functionality to properly map then there are many users that are scared just by perceived "complexity".

yes
Tincore is really good, but it scare most people due to how many thing you can configure. Maybe you can create two profiles. One for advanced users and other for basic user with less options like the nvdia shield mapper.

That is indeed an idea. On most of the cases my app is just plug and play. To be honest I really dont know which options I could hide.
To be honest, I haven't gotten to use the Tincore app myself, just have read a lot about it on here and seen tutorials on YouTube. Haven't gotten around to rooting yet, mostly the whole 'warranty' deal which I won't care about when Shield 2 hits.
But, I know as far as shield goes, the thing I like about mapping with this is just being able to have this quick bar at the top with buttons you just pull off, resize, and one click register. It really does have a lot of limitation, and you guys are right about the complexity of Tincore, but if this Shield juuuuust had that 'repeat gesture while held' and 'stop playing gesture when let go' thing, it would be all I need personally.

the thing with tin core is despite being the best mapper out there, it looks intimidating to newbies (i felt that way for the first few mins), the gui that is presented perhaps needs to be simplified with advanced options presented in different roll outs.(similar to nvidia's mapper along with more options)
the problem however is with most mappers including gamekeyboard, joystiq center, one reason is perhaps they are targeted at a very specific audience who they assume know what they are doing. Although this point is correct, more and more mainstream and casual gamer are getting into this feature everyday and see its usefulness.
Either way I cant imagine nvidia's mapper will ever come close to what tin core offers in terms of settings, which for me as a gamer is important.
Hmmmm, now that I've played around with it more I'm realizing more and more bugs with nvidia's mapping. One most important is the fact you can't hit buttons and move directional keys at the same time. Playing minecraft, you can't move the camera and walk at the same time like you can with regular touch screen play.
Another thing I'd like is resizeable buttons so they don't overlap. And I've even found a game that doesn't support the mapping at all, the options just don't come up when hitting start.
Think I'm gonna have to root and go with tincore.

[ROOT] Working Multiplayer fix in all emulators using Tincore KeyMapper.

Note: This also works for mapping Touch Screen Apps to controllers, even mapping a mouse to your joystick if you wish to play flash based games or to make your own mappings. You can remap buttons to ANY DEVICE, so be CAREFUL!
I've been looking into a fix to allow the usage of multiple dual shock 4 controllers for multiplayer gaming and came up with nothing that worked on the Amazon Fire TV until now.
Since we aren't able to change the IME setup, there's an app that lets you keymap any device connected either with USB or Bluetooth. Its called Tincore KeyMapper and while it may come off a bit complicated at first and it has its visual bugs running on the amazon box, it works perfectly.
first install the app and run it. You must be rooted for it to work!
I also recommend you have a mouse to navigate easier and have all the controllers you wish to configure connected and/or plugged in from the start. Any new controllers added afterwards will swap "ports" with the other controllers and will occasionally switch players once a device rescan is done.
once its started create a new profile call it whatever you like ie. openBOR settings
click the magnifying glass(search) make sure to have System Internal and USB/BT *ROOT* selected then hit accept.
You should see all your devices that are connected to the box.
look for your controller you have connected and change the dpad, left stick and buttons to "click keys". You wont be able to make changes until you restart, so exit the app by clicking the 3 dot menu and scrolling all the way down to the bottom and clicking the the last item that isn't visible.
Re run the app and now you can set the keys for the found devices. Enjoy!
There's other cool features if you buy this app, and I plan on buying just because the app works even without IME setups. And the more support we give him, maybe he will make a native port for us in the future.
Or you can just use any of Robert's .EMU emulators that detects multiple gamepads and use them at the same time with no conflicts.
FPse for PSX does this as well.
Snes9x EX also made by Robert allows this as well.

True, Reicast does as well.
But FPse doesnt work on the Fire TV, Nearly all Mame emus do not have working multiplayer including TigerMame, Reloaded, Mame4android, Jrioni, ReroArch, OpenBor, Paintown, All flash games and a number of others don't have that ability.

FPse works perfectly on FireTV, dunno what you're doing wrong but a friend and I were playing Twisted Metal 2 for hours the other night. I spent a couple hours playing Crash Bandicoot and Need for Speed: High Stakes just the other day. Everything I've tested on the emulator all have worked flawlessly.
Developer is working on getting the triggers to work correctly with the X360 gamepads as there is currently a bug in it.

Fpse has a bug that the triggers in the Xbox controller don't want to work. He said he'd work on that a month ago and won't respond to emails. Epsxe developer sent me a beta and is working with me on getting triggers working
