Hey guys i am in a big trouble of buying a new smartphone.
Among all the smartphones i narrowed down my choices to these three.
Here is what i like about each:-
galaxy note:-
1.biggest screen ever!I just fall in love with its 5.3 inch samoled screen.
2.very good battery life.
3.good performance
4.stylus
htc onex:-
1.Impressive screen, nearly everyone says that its the best screen ever on a mobile device,is this really true?
2.looks stunning
3.best performance with tegra 3
galaxy s3:-(as per expected)
1.will be a supreb rgb stripe samoled plus screen
2.will have best hardware
3.rest is unknown
For me,my 1st requirement is a samoled screen. So its obious for me to go with note or s3 but what i have heared the slcd 2 on the onex beats the note's samoled?
Honestly my heart is completely sold for the note's bigger screen, but if the screen on the onex is really better than i can look for that.
thankx in advance to all.......
For me, the screen size of Note is a reason enough not to look at any other phone. Before I got Note, I was really looking forward to One X and SG3 but now I have no interest in them and the only thing that I'm waiting for is Note 2
I believe in the States The One will have Snapdragon and no Tegra because of LTE issues. Same with the SG3. It's not really fair throwing the Note in the competition since it is last year's specs. It is essentially an SG2.
I will say the One is very tempting.
obviously galaxy note for me
Well its a nice question? My answer would be that it totally depends upon your need. About me I am a surgical resident and I was desperate to replace my laptop and tablet, for my presentation work, data collection and my books. Since I got my note gt n7000 life on floor and in OR has become easy. I have my book on it, which I can read easily because of its big screen. I use my references in rounds and its amazing camera which helps me in capturing all the clinical findings and procedures. It has fulfilled the needs beyond expectations. No need for another primary device. All ur intrnet , entertainment and study and work on a single device. Don't know abt one x and s3 is yet to come
yes i know that, but as per i have told my main requirement is the DISPLAY.
What i want to know is how is the contrst of note while compared with one x?Does the one x looks like washed when compared with note like all other ips?how is the colour saturation on both, does the note's colours pop out when compared to one x?

wait for s3, if you wont be satisfied, take galaxy note. htc one x has these big disadvantages in my view:
4.7" lcd screen (consumes a lot of energy)
no micro sd card support
no removable battery
tegra 3 cpu uses 40nm technology which also consumes a lot of energy and isnt so fast as others thinks
and in the end only 1800mah battery ;D
atm i have galaxy note and it is enough. Dual core 1.4ghz cpu is more than enough (you can overclock to 1.7ghz), common it is just phone, whats the point having quad core atm? it has 2500 mah batter, superamoled screen (low consumption energy) and micro sd support, also nice feature "on the go" and a lot of more features, also remember about ics update + premium suite which will be kick ass ;D
Wait for s3. My dad has the one x and is not happy with the not so big screen or battery life. Since u want a big screen go for the note but check out the s3 before u make a decision.

s3 i guess not many know mutch about, but i got the HoX and the Note and it is for sure always is the Note that follows me around.
HoX is still like other new phones fun to try and play around with but then you go back to the Note, not say HoX is bad tho..realy sweet phone.
Problem when you have use a Note is you get use to the Screen and most other feel small and also battery is Ace compare to many off my other devices.

You are correct!
Also you know HTC and their tiny (and now unremovable) batteries!
Not good...

There are rumors that there will be two versions of SG3. The first one is for 3G modem using Exynos 4412 4 cores. The second one is LTE version that uses Samsung's own modem chip and possibly Exynos 5250 2 cores. I would say that Note is not essentially S2.

I'd only switch for an a15 based dual core chip. Those things have great benches and good battery drain. I'm hoping that the note2 has that as I don't care about quad core.
N7000 RULESS!!!! no doubt about it!!!

i tried both note and one x, i preferred the note for it's bigger and more touch responsive screen, the battery is better on the note, so i ends up with selling the one x after one week of using it and came back to my lovely note.

I had seen some where in xda forum that the screen of onex looks better than the note, even better than all other phones.
My preference is not colour accuracy, what i want is the awesome contrast and the poping colours of amoled.
As i havent got addicted with the screen size of note yet,i think i can manage with the hox but the screen must have to be high on contrast and poping like note ! !
so does the hox's screen behave as my per my requirement?
heres the link bellow:-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1606636
After looking at those pic i am totaly confused that which screen look beter? All other screens look like washed out compared to samoled but i think the hox doesnt, isnt it?
I would still prefer Note among the rest as the screen is such killer. I don't think I am able to change into anything else smaller given the same spec. XD
ive had my note for 5 months or so now, and i've just tried a one X.
sooo, lets just remove all the fanboy-ism and analyse things with minimal bias.
contrary to popular belief, the difference in screen size isnt that big. its mainly that our display is a tad bit wider (our displays are 800x1280 vs the one x's 720x1280), not a big loss.
One X has a smoother UI and is much more responsive from what little time i've had with it, mainly in that its quick to load apps and quick to recover from dumping an app that used a lot of ram. so im guessing most of the people here who diss the one x probably either havent given it a fair go, havent set it up properly, or havent had much time to play with it.
and as for battery life, all i see is people complaining about paper stats saying that the one x will have worse battery life simply because its using an IPS LCD panel and has a smaller battery. thats just stats, but it doesnt mean it has worse battery life.
battery life will depend on how you use it. if you compare battery life with the way both phones are running now (not hacked, no custom ROMs), the one x surpasses our notes in browser battery life and in any app that uses bright colours. this is because we have amoled, and amoled uses more than twice as much power compared to LCD when it comes to rendering white, so our notes pretty much suck in this regard unless we browse pages that have black backgrounds, or at least until we get ICS browser, where we can invert the bg colour to black. the only advantage our notes have for battery life are in phone call (screen is off so this stops our amoled from being our disadvantage), standby times (screen is off here too), and only if we use dark backgrounds and apps with darker colours (amoled consumes no power when rendering black simply because the led/pixel is off).
IPS panels simply display colours closer to how they really are. i've been using a 37inch IPS panel as the display for my PC for 2 years now, and im quite happy with the colours. its not over-saturated like my note's amoled, and it doesnt have banding issues.
personally, i'd be happy if they made a fully backlit IPS panel with local dimming, then we'd have a display that can render colours accurately and display true black as well as have decent battery life in all conditions, but i doubt we'd see this anytime soon.
plus, those who are arguing that the one x's 40nm manufacturing process is a downside... last time i checked, our exynos 4210 chips in our notes were made on the inferior 45nm process which means that our temperatures and power consumption are higher if you analyse things on a per core basis. tegra3 can switch off cores when it doesnt need it, and also has a companion core to run mediocre tasks, so if you use an app that only uses one core on both phones (ignoring the whole amoled vs lcd) our CPU's technically consume more power.
the only things that peeve me about the htc one x are no microSD and microSIM. the microSD is easy enough to fix though, just get a usb on the go plug and hook up a usb thumb drive or a microSD card reader and problem is ghetto solved there.
the only thing holding me back from buying a htc one X is that i want to see the quad core competitors - meizu are releasing an MX with a larger screen and with a samsung quad core, LG and Fujitsu are releasing quad core phones soon as well. lets not forget the soon to be officially announced S3 as well. i'll see how all competitors perform before forking out the money for a new phone.

Having used both before buying the note I've got a good perspective. The one X screen is sharper, there's no doubt about that. However more important for me is that black looks black so the note wins for me. Stock vs stock the one X whoops the note, the software from Samsung is crap compared to stunner and other custom roms.
The main reasons I went for the note were the removable battery (one X is notorious for poor battery life, I'm talking a few hours on screen at best, anyone arguing this go to the one X section and see for yourself) and that I was bored of HTC. Give it a month or two and there will probably be some custom roms that really make the best of the battery and performance and then our notes will be left in the dust to some extent.

My friend with a HTC OneX is getting 6Hours battery life. I mean come on non removable battery .... why do an APPLE in the Droid world.
A Smartphone using all the features it has should ideally pass through a day of usage, only phone as of now being able to do this is the Gnote.
Hey guys i need your help urgently ! !
I am in a big trouble of buying a smartphone. My 2 choices are galaxy s3 and note.
these are the points that i like about each:-
galaxy s3:-
1.Best performance
2.Lots of added features
3.one of the best camera with burst mode too
4.Great battery life
5.WOLFSON
galaxy note:-
1.bigger better screen imo(its brightness is about 100 cd/m2 more than s3)
I know that s3's ppi is better but that mere 15ppi doesnt mean anything to me
2.Its by far much better looking than s3
3.spen
My main reason for loving the note more than the s3 is its SCREEN.Its sooo bigger and hence better for browsing, gaming, movies etc.
So here my maib questions are:-
1.Is the performance soo much better on s3 than note, specially the gpu?
because i love gaming and the gpu performance is what i need the most ! !
2.I heard and have seen that the ui of s3 so fluent that its now on par with iphone? Then how will be the ui of note?
3.how will be the browser comparision between s3 and note?
I am in hurry for gettibg one because in india we have some offer for note,in which samsung gives sennhieser headphone, flip cover,3000(60usd) games totally for free and this offer experies on 31st may.So what to choose?Even the note 2 will be launched in may be september,so is buying note good idea?
so plzzzzzz help meeeeeeee. . ... ...
thankx to all in advance....
Don't get note for now. I think you should get the best Samsung out there aka s3.
Sent from my HTC One X on Leedroid's ROM v5.1.0.
you should simply go for s3 , it beats note on all aspects except the screen size(if you like the bigger screen).
s3 packs the most powerful gpu for a mobile that are released so far.
Mate go for what you like at the end of the day, You're getting the phone for your needs. Just get the one you think is best suited for you ...
Ya all of you are right.I should be going for s3,but i think that the s3 is a bit narrow on the display front, isnt it? and may be thats why the resolution differ on both i.e 720p vs 800p?
BTW i am currently a s8500 user,i know the s3 will be the right jump for me but is the screen that too smaller than the note?
Personally, I'd go for the newer, better spec'd SIII over the Galaxy Note.

Well it's 0.5 inch smaller than the note. That means around 1.25cm in diagonal range. On a phone it's obvious if you put them next to each other but otherwise I think you will be really happy with S3's screen.
Also just to add to your first post regarding the specs... S3 has C-Pen, it's almost identical to note's S-Pen. Just so you know

I'm sorry but I really hate these types of responses. It doesn't offer the OP any real advice either way. He's asking specific questions about performance and quality and answers like this don't tell him anything.
Edit: OP, get the S3 and don't look back. It'll have much better dev support as well, being a flagship device.
Herp derp Captivate XDA Premium App.
Easy, get the Note now, enjoy that big ass screen. Then get the Note 2 and sell the old one.
I hope the Tmobile SGS Note comes with the S4 processor....
I had the Note and I'm planning to get the SIII. I think if you are a business or artistic kind of guy or use EverNote or have other uses for the wacom pen should be your main reason for getting it.

You can refer to these benchmarks for now, the Note will be slower, but for real world usage it fast enough to perform any mobile tasks, due to the dualcore Exynos at 1.4ghz. It has the same Mali GPU as the S3, you shouldn't miss out much on the gaming side. I'd say inevitably the S3 will perform faster for gaming, but I don't think will big enough of a difference to matter (besides the typical nerds bragging rights).
Games will still look nicer on the Note big screen. Another advantage with its large screen is if you use onscreen gamepads a lot, you have large area to move your thumbs so the controls seems to register better. It's decent enough that I can play a lot of 'classic' games without needing a physical controller. I think the S3 will be on par too though since its a big screen too.

Do not worry about screen brightness for either devices, both Note and S3 will be very bright with these AMOLED screens. The Note at 100% brightness is equivalent to staring at the Sun.

I don't have an SIII yet, so I don't know. As for the Note, if you have lots of stuff installed on a non-rooted Stock rom, there will be some lag in animation with touchwiz interface, but if you custom rom and use a lighter launcher, its smooth. It also have ICS now, so that might improve things.
3.how will be the browser comparision between s3 and note?

I don't know, I don't have the S3 yet, there are new software features and improvements with the S3. But large screen of the Note is a winner here obviously to me, text will be just a bit bigger, sometimes you don't even need to zoom in. It is possible that the S3 can render webpages faster, but I don't know.
Overall, it will be a hard choice, if depends on how much cheaper you can get a Note over the new S3, if you can save at least $200USD by getting the Note over the S3 than its a good deal. If you enjoy large screen estate go for Note, its easier for reading and watching HD movies on it is fantastic. It has excellent camera, great battery life (2500mAh, ICS as well, and better look (imo). If I was someone who already have a Nexus or Note (international), I would not upgrade to the S3, unless I have money to burn. I will get the S3 though since I always want to try the latest stuff and it has some interesting new software features that I don't think Samsung will port to older models because they want you to buy their latest phones.
Same "dilemma" except I have the Note.....I say BUY the Note USED.....try it then decide. You can't lose too much. I have never bought a new International device. Probably won't with the S3 either.
I love the Note's screen. In fact that is the reason I bought one. I still have a back up SGS2 but will sell that when I get the S3 and use the Note as a back up to our phones. The DAC is what tipped the scales for me. I had an iTouch mounted to my bike and had plugged in my earbuds to it when I went for longs rides. (and short ones) The Captiave, SGS2 and Note relagated my iTouch 4 to permant duty on my nightstand alarm where it inevr gets used as my phones also are my alarm clocks.......Be really nice to have some VooDoo Sound again. (Although VooDoo Louder came in handy on my bike.)
I am HOPING I won't miss the screen size of the Note and the trade offs for the many benefits the S3 has to offer in may other areas are worth it. Such as the ease of pocket carrying ( I LIKE the rounded corners LOL) , the many additional features, The Pen is something I do use and will use more since flashing to official ICS as it is virtually no lag anymore.
The SGS2 screen is too small for me anymore. I am not going back there. I think a slightly smaller screen will work better ergonomically.
I have no issue with using the phone with two hands although ICS now has "one hand mode" for the Note" where the keyboard and dialer are rendered smaller and moves to the left in effect giving on the same size as an S2 or iPhone.
Then the Note 2 may or may not come out if those using Note find the S3 covers all the bases well enough.

Guys i tried a lot for convincing myself to go for the s3,but my heart doesnt allow me for that Its still crying for the 5.3 inch hd samoled
So plz tel me how will be the gaming performance on both?
The main reason bothering much is now its the quadcore season so many apps will be made accordingly for the quadcores......So can i still be able to play those highly graphich demanding games at a good fps on note?
Only the processor is the factor that is stopping me from getting galaxy note! !
I will go for GS3. But, I still have a soft corner for Note. I will suggest OP to wait for Note 2.
Here's my reasons -
I suspect (no insider information, purely connecting dots) Note 2 will have Exynos 5 SoC. I think Exynos 5 just went into mass production in Q2, and was never ready for being implemented into SGS3.
We definitely can expect incremental update in Note's screen. So, either it would be HD SAMOLED PLUS or something like a PenTile 1600 x 1000 resolution keeping the aspect ratio same as OG Note.
But the most important factor could be Samsung huge marketing and developer push for S Pen apps.
They now have a $ 4million prize money for Note and Tab apps. Just a month back they had another S Pen app contest.
http://www.smartappchallenge.com/eng/main.do
You could be getting much better Pen apps.
In either case, both phones will have great support and winner in their own respect.
The note has much more of a "tablet-esque" functionalities to it with handwriting recognition and such.
S3 has only standard android handset features plus the newly demoed items which are unrelated to a tablet style larger screen interface.
For me the question you need to be asking is "do i need tablet functionality and screen size more than i need processing/graphics power and the new added features in S3's touchwiz (smartstay, svoice etc)?"

Huh? I think the answer is clear which phone you want.
It would be extremely handy to have som release information on the next Note, now. I am considering getting that instead of the SGS 3. I have the SGS 2 and the only thing I miss is screen real estate. And lots of it
Hi guys,
I know there are many similar threads like "Note vs. S3" and "S3 vs. Note" here but I wanted to bring everyone's opinions under one roof and make it clear for future buyers of either devices.
Those of you who own or have used the Galaxy S3 and still prefer the Galaxy Note over it, please do share your reasons and experience here.
I own both the Galaxy Note and the Galaxy S3 and to be frank, I prefer the Note over the S3 despite the S3 being newer, more powerful, etc.
I had bought the Note in June reluctantly as I was afraid it would be too uncomfortable to use due to the screen size. I was leaning more towards the S3 as it was a more valid upgrade over my S2 and the latest newest piece of technology in town. But the initial asking price for the S3 was quite high for me and hence I decided to give the Note a try, slightly worried that this may be the worst decision I made as an upgrade, (again due to the size) but I was mistaken.
Anyways luckily after a month, my dad bought an S3 and hence I got to use the phone in a more personalized manner and guess what? I prefer the Note over the S3.
The reasons being:
a) Screen: I've grown so used to the Note's screen size that it makes me feel that the s3 is small and the S2 which set the standard for screen size in 2011 looks tiny. The screen of the note is also much brighter than the S3 ( I'm not talking accurate measurements but percievable brightness). The note at the lowest brightness is equivalent to the S3 at 30-40% brigntness. Its also great browsing on the bigger screen. There are disadvantages with the Note's screen too, mainly the poor gamma calibration, banding and clipping but the positives weigh over the negatives.
b) ]The S-Pen: This is maybe the main reason why I prefer the Note over the S3. The S-Pen still amazes me with its accuracy and using the S3 makes me "miss" the S-Pen. Makes me wonder why the S-Memo and S-Note exist on the S3. And sketching on the S3 during leisure hours is pure bliss.
I'm not much of a gamer and I havent seen much apps which utilize the dual core processing other than benchmarking tools, so for me, quadcore A9 just doesnt cut it, atleast for now. Lets talk Cortex A15s and then maybe I'm game.
So what is the only thing which I find attractive on the S3?
The Wolfson WM1811 Audio Chip ofcourse. The wolfson on the original Galaxy S, changed the scene for Music on a Mobile Phone. Hence, I have high hopes about this one too.
Apart from this, I dont find anything else attention grabbing about the S3. Nothing revolutionary either. To be frank, I regret cutting my SIM into a MicroSIM to trial the S3 for a couple of days. Will revert back to the Note soon.
Disadvantages of the Note (My experience)
Screen again: Improper gamma calibration of the Note's screen causes a noticeable amount of black clipping in images and videos which depict dark shades or shadows.
The EMMC Brick Bug: Considering that every Galaxy Note has the chip with the faulty firmware, it makes me fear owning the phone beyond warranty period as even though however careful we may be, accidents do happen. This and the time when dualcores may be lacking (which isnt soon) may be the only reasons for me to sell the Note.
Will I ditch the Note and buy the Note 2?
If its about the quadcore A9's, Maybe Not
Considering the S3 still costs atleast 200$ more than the Note, The Note 2 would definitely be more expensive than the S3, which makes it much more expensive than the Note, Hence making it difficult and a pointless upgrade for people who've bought the Note recently.
And maybe if the Note 2 comes with anything truly "revolutionary", I might consider it, but again, not anytime soon.
So people who've moved on from the Note to the S3, who are planning to or who still prefer the Note over the S3, please do share your opinions here. Also please make it a point to share the reason why you prefer one over the other. This would help other people who are confused between both. This can also help some people understand their needs and maybe even save some considerable amount of money.
Please share your opinions in the following order, making it easier for readers to follow.
A.) If you prefer the Note over S3,
a.) Reasons: (Advantages based on experience)
b.) Disadvantages (Again based on experience)
B.) For those who've moved on to the S3 from the Note but still own one,
a.) Advantages of the S3 over the Note (based on experience)
b.) Disadvantages of the S3 compared to the S3 (based on experience)
C.) Will you upgrade to the Note 2 upon launch?
Please note that the advantages or disadvantages you post are ONLY based on experience and NOT merely Technical Specs. Anyone would prefer going for the latest anyday if it was mere Technical Specifications.
would like to see Note 2, i am sure it will be better than s3..
I have seen S3, and it looks pretty good too. But I love the size of our BIG G Note
Hi I use my note for the past six months and it gives me better satisfaction over s3....because the screen size, s note and the speed.
As a normal user with the given drugs of games the speed is more than enough.. I prefer my note than my system for gaming.

Same here. Even if S3 had 8 cores and 4gb of RAM i'd still prefer the Note. Great specs are useless if you have a tiny screen ( hello iphone )
Galaxy note screen size is both its biggest advantage and disadvantage. I love the size. Guess its the biggest size of a phone that you can carry. I think coz the phone is so slim its managable. I use the phone mostly in a landscape mode so get the tab experience.
S3 seems like your everyday phones. I dont know why its priced so high. Guess the price will fall soon.

I have both the s3 just does not do anything for me yes its virtually lag free however screen is too small compared to note. Everything has less impact than the note. And i dont think the s3 could feel any cheaper. I know sammy use more plastic than lego but the S3 just feels tacky compared to my note which is yhe blue one as i know the white one also has the glossy black plate like the s3

Using Note past 4months and totally satisfied by the experience...i'm a hardcore gamer and developer and so the big point awsm HD screen which really enhances my Hydef games like asphalt6,7, real soccer, batman,etc...
The only mob with stylus/S Pen which is an ease of access
...also after the 4.0.4 update everything is just gr8 except some minor UI probs but again Sammy is there for us....pls Sammy give us a gud news JELLY BEAN
Well Indeed it is the best phone available before Note 2 arrives.... Hpy «Noting»

Note is of course is still better compare to S3.
Other than the censors on it, S3 has nothing to boost up.
Screen is not as big as Note
Has S-Note and S-Memo, but no S-Pen to support. At the end you have to write / draw with ur fingers, which defeat its purpose.
But yes, S3 screen, sounds, and battery is slightly better than Note. Still, comparing the price and the functions, Note is still all the way best to S3.
Till Note-2 comes up (and if it's much better than N7000), I will stick to this N7000.
The S-Pen makes me easier in work also. :highfive:
I use and alwasy bring both S3 and Note whereever I go
But in term of speed, S3 is awesome
I would buy Note 2 only if it can make a recording continously while writing using SNote application.
Currently, when the screen getting off, the record will stop and when adding the new page as well.
I also have Flyer that can make a record and writing continously, however due to the weight, I use Note more than Flyer.
I love all my gadget, actually :victory:
Note is Better than S3
I've used galaxy s3 for a month now and i found it very buggy ..
i prefer galaxy note and i hope note2 will be better than s3
Advantages of S3 -
Best, smoothest Touchwiz stock launcher from samsung till date
holding grip
pixel density is amazing , super clear
smart stay (can be installed on note too with smartstay ex but its not the same)
Goes into pocket very easily..
gorilla glass
Disadvantages of S3
microphone malfunction - i face it sometimes..
random reboots when running high processing power games
smaller screen than galaxy note
back cover isn't impressive .
camera is same as note - when u transfer photos to computer n view it u wont find major differences
battery life is very low of 3.5 hours
gets heated up more than note
Advantages of Note -
bigger screen
s pen
s apps
dual core processor is almost perfect for playing popular games
battery life of 6hours on hardcore gaming on low brightness n when sound is turned off
Disadvantages of Note -
No Gorilla glass , delicate screen - gets scratches very easily
laggy stock launcher
ics 4.0.4 fixed all the bugs previously which were - hangs, laggy browser, task manager fake reading..
dual core processor - i feel its enough for gaming but ppl out there think its too low..
Hope this helps ..please press thanks if this helped :good:

I have different experience from yours
My GNote is hotter than S3 when playing game (Asphalt 7)
My S3 Battery lasts longer than GNote
Cheers
I like the big screen size coz I'm using it to replace my gtab.
Galaxy S3: Faster, better battery life.
Galaxy Note : Bigger and better screen.
Verdict: Galaxy Note.

I'll bite.
I chose the Note over S3 because it's more useful.
S3's advantages based on my smartphone usage as an IT professional and Android enthusiast with explanations:
Quadcore/faster CPU. This is a valid an good advantage, but by no means is the Note slow or incapable, the S3 is just better.
Umm... http://www.phonearena.com/phones/compare/Samsung-GALAXY-Note,Samsung Galaxy S III/phones/6116,6330
Scrolling down...
Oh, 4.0 Bluetooth stack, ummm...
Gyroscope that I would really need for... something.
Let's look at the Note's advantages:
Bigger screen. That's quite nice, but the S3's screen is still really good.
Higher resolution. A little bit, but not enough to get worked up over.
S-Pen. This depends on if you would use it. I use mine WAY more than I expected to.
Okay, so cost to buy them...
Note is about $550, S3 is about $600, so not much difference.
Well, what do you want? Big screen and S-Pen or a quadcore?
It really comes down to that question.
I compared my Note with CM9 ICS ROM to Stock Galaxy S3 and Note was way smoother and faster. Also i can't think of going back to smaller screen... To me S3 doesn't offer anything, that Note couldn't offer.
Rooted Galaxy note with Asylum ICS ROM and Google Now is WIN!

The galaxy Note also has a gyroscope. Some of the specs listed on your link is wrong.
The only features differenciating the Galaxy S3 from the Note is:
Quadcore, Smaller but better calibrated screen, Latest bluetooth stack, Really optimized, more functinal and visually pleasing touchwiz, cheaper quality plastics
And for the Note, Dual core, bigger and much brighter screen though poorly color calibrated, Wacom digitizer which is the actual magic behind the S-Pen, sturdier build quality.

smaller battery than the 7.7, no OLED screen and compared to the ipad mini, the benchmarks seem lower (there is a link on sammobile comparing them). I do hope the performance will be better. If priced right, should be a nice tablet, but I feel there might a lot of tablets introduced at MWC this year.
It seems like they are going for the budget tablet crowd this time, that is too bad but who can blame them with the success of the 200 dollar tablets.
I really wanted to get a 8-9 inch upgrade for the 7.7 but worse battery life and screen will probably be a deal breaker for me.
No need. Quite vanilla. Pass.
Seems that 7.7 is srill best buy Got mine today! Awesome tab, not small, not large, and ability to use as phone, just superb!

rumor says same as Note 10.1 & 2
Doubt this will sway me over to upgrade. The specs look ****ty.
I just picked up a Nexus 10 and may eventually drop my 7.7 depending on usage scenarios. Lack of a completed CM rom (9, 10 or 10.1) due to Samsung is the main culprit. Maintainers for Exynos4 devices may not last much longer, which sucks ;[
on a brighter note, you can use it as your gps navigator, or you can even let the screen on for some time without worrying about burn ins.
Its not close. It simply sucks compared with the 7.7
Hopefully we'll get a JB update for our Tabs that will allow us to keep it long enough to see an update worth upgrading
Honestly Samsung can do better. Like a 1080p Super Amoled screen a battery a least the same size as the 7.7 (Come on the Note III is rumored to have a 5,000mA battery !! Bigger than this crap 8" Note !! Something' wrong there !), etc...
Would explain why Samsung are reluctant to provide the JB update for the 7.7 (at least not until these new tablets are available). 7.7 + JB would be tough to beat even with older processor
Guys the market has moved enormously since the 7.7 was announced and then launched.
When the 7.7 was announced the only real competition was Apple and the 7.7 was priced against the Ipad and component costs could therefore be quite high.
Since then prices for tablets have tumbled about 50% and as a consequence component costs have got squeezed.
While we all love the SuperA screens on our tabs I suspect the costings mean it's unlikely to be on another product anytime soon, everything after including phones has been Pentile screen AFAIK.
The next 'flexible' screen looks really interesting but I hate to think of the manufacturing cost and therefore how much the tablet will cost......
Sent from my GT-P6800 using xda app-developers app
I think breaking the current pixel barrier on 7 inch screens is something that all of the manufacturers are struggling with, especially with price expectations being what they are now compared to when the 7.7 was first released.
product sheet revealed also...Quad-Core 1.6 Ghz. Exynos, I'd imagine.
http://www.technobuffalo.com/2013/0...-galaxy-note-8-galaxy-young-galaxy-x-cover-2/
My guess...the slightly smaller battery & Super Clear LCD will put it right around $299-$349 price point

Any thoughts on how that display will compare to AMOLED?

Comparison testing has shown AMOLED screens to have higher contrasts, deeper blacks, etc. Also better outside viewing & power consumption.
Not to say that Sony's Super Clear LCD is terrible...on the contrary, it can really shine in the right scenarios. I really think price point is the sole reason the Note 8.0 will be featuring it.
I'd be willing to place money on this being a sub $300 device
they should've made two of these, one aimed for the low-mid market (w/ LCD) and the one aimed for people with deep pocket
seriously, this is not a replacement for out 7.7 it's just another Note, just like the note 10.1 was made not as a replacement for Tab 10.1
Too bad, I was hoping for a 7.7 Note w/ the SAMOLED+ screen. I wouldn't even care as much about higher resolution, as I'm fine w/ the 7.7's and same specs as Note2 would satisfy me. What I do want is the stylus w/ airview, & MultiView as I sometimes wish my Note2 and 7.7 were one device.
^likewise, but what sammy did was lower down the bar just to compete with a lower spec'd iPad Mini, even our old 7.7 will whip the ipad easily, I've seen the mini, compared it side by side with my 7.7 and immediately, there's a striking difference in screen quality and resolution.
Then I remembered, the Galaxy tab 10.1 2 is another "DOWNGRADE" from the original 10.1
hey sammy should start making a new low budget tablet line tagged under NEBULA series LOL
well... at least it still has the earpiece?
http://www.sammobile.com/2013/01/24/leaked-samsung-galaxy-note-8-0/
honestly i am not sure who to blame here. Google decided to use a horrible ui for all tablets from 4.2 forward essentially using just a enlarged phone ui.
So in response samsung just made a huge phone hardware...
That's been a trend since the S III and it seems the S 4 is following suit. I guess for lack of time or supply constraints, they can never fit their proprietary designed-ARM based chip onto the phone with all the biggest markets. Most of the biggest markets always get stuck with a middling Qualcomm chip (read up on the differences between the Snapdragon 600 and 800) to make up for the lack of bands their LTE networks have. I'm sure like the Note II, the Note III will have probably figured out how to put an RBG strip on its Full HD AMOLED screen (Pixel arrangement differences could have an effect on color saturation and gamut); as well as a fully compatible Exynos 5 Octa or Snapdragon 800.
For lack of a better description, the S 4 feels like a "test subject", leading up to Samsung's hardware later in the year. I only wish the phone wouldn't be announced in Q1, so by the time it was released in late Q2, maybe it would have access to all of the year's most cutting-edge computational technology. Maybe there's nothing that can be done, but isn't anyone annoyed by this trend of things?
Ever since the Note came out with more than a £100 worth of free downloads and was a massive seller in South Korea I thought the Note family was Samsung's true flagship, I want the S4 lte but I have an N4 so might wait for the Note3 but that's probably 8/9 months away, the economy could be completely screwed by then.
I agree. More innovation seems to come with the note series both in terms of hardware and software.
Regarding the screen, N3 should have a full RGB matrix. The larger screen than S4 but with the same no of pixels should allow them to fit more sub-pixels without having to reduce pixel size. So pen-tile (diamond) should become full RGB- AWESOME.

I guess so, but that's because of different things. hardware wise its because the note has the advantage of coming later, when production of the chipset is already done. The galaxy s series comes out earlier so its harder. As far as software i don't think the note 3 is going to be ridiculous superior to the S IV , it will have a bigger battery and enhanced S pen features but the S IV is already full of features.
Well, it's not like they aren't doing what they can with the phone at the time they release it. It's certainly a worthy upgrade to the S III. They're just so consumed with market share statistics, they're allowing their Galaxy S series to be shafted from all the yearly top specifications, while letting the Note capitalize on them. Maybe some people want a top-end device that's only 5" inches. Being relegated to second-tier is... daunting, to say the least. Waiting to late-April or early May to announce the device, then release it a couple of weeks later in May or June probably would have offered them more material to work with.
