Ok, i had the evo, it was great. I rooted it and unlocked nand it wasnt hard. Now i got the mytouch 3g from t-mobile. Can someone direct me to the right place to root? Is there a way to root it without a computer? And does this phone have nand like the evo did or just root? Thanks for any help.

see....this is a very common asked question,
if you root your phone by propc method Link, it will give you a gingerbread theme.
but if you root your phone directly, then you will have same appearance, only there will be a Super User Permission app.
and you asked about gingerbread ROM, you wont get it now.
bcoz there is no custom ROM for it. developers are working hard to get it. so you need to wait for some time.
rooting is absolutely safe if you follow each step carefully.
i will recommend you to use this guide. Link
hope you succeed!
My friend has a EVO and wants to uninstall most of the apps that came with the phone. Is there a way he can root the phone and install something that can uninstall the apps and then unroot? Any help or feed back will be appreciated.
Must root to do that
The fastest & easiest way is unrevoked
BUT BEFORE YOU ROOT ! ! ! READ A LOT ABOUT ROOTING , YOU CAN FIND AN EASY WALK-THROUGH ON YOUTUBE
hope that helped if not u can pm me ill explain more about the rooting process ;-)

Ya rooting with unrevoked is pretty easy. I did mine to take off some of the Sprint apps. But why would u want to unroot? Only reason to do that is if is going back to Sprint then it doesn't matter what apps are on there. Not sure but only way to unroot is to restore everything back to factory which includes all the apps.

This is a noob question but i just rooted my phone yesterday and have been trying out different roms.
I am going to upgrade to the galaxy sIII soon but when i go into the sprint store to turn in my phone it needs to be unrooted and everything.
I dont know how to unroot it or put it back to normal so they could never tell that i had done anything with the phone i forgot to backup the phone.
Could anyone help me out? Sorry that i sound like such a noob.

HBOOT 2.8 With S-OFF but it still say's i have S-ON
i just put Smelkus Amon Ra-Supersonic-4.3 recovery on it.
it's not letting me post the link because i am a new user and cant post links until i make over 10 post.
But its HTCEVOHACKS Guide for people that need to root HBOOT-2.18.0001
Probably the easiest thing to do is follow the instructions on how to downgrade your Hboot and just leave it at that. You'll lose root and have s-on, and you'll also get rid of the watermark in the bootloader screen that indicates that it's unlocked. Follow the steps in this guide to downgrade your Hboot:

Essentially, s-on is "security on", and vice-versa. Having s-off allows you the ability to flash things like radios to your phone. As far as the stock ROM, there are links to two different stock Sprint ROM's (sometimes also referred to as RUU or ROM Upgrade Utilities) in that thread I linked you to. Just pick one. Since you won't be rooting it again it won't matter, and a Sprint rep won't know that the ROM on your phone isn't the one it came with to begin with.

Along the lines of the original issue, will Sprint activate a rooted phone or do they actively check to see if it's rooted before activating? Just curious b/c I have an extra one I'm selling and it's still rooted.
Yes i have another question too, if i unroot my phone is it perminitly unrooted? Or would i be able to re root it.
Just helpfull for the future if i decide to root whatever phone i upgrade too.

No it's not permanent. You can root again after unrooting. A lot of people will unroot to take their phone in for service or warranty claims and then root it again after it's fixed.

Nope, not permanent at all. You could do it every morning when you woke up, if you wanted to.
Stock by day. Rooted by night!
