Possible Phantom Voicemail Fix CM7.2 - EVO Shift 4G General

Here is a possible fix for the Phantom Voicemail received while using CM7. One of these two things fixed the problem....not sure which one though.
1. Called myself from a landline to check my voicemails. (Probably not the fix though)
2. Installed this modified phone.apk to CM7. It takes away the phantom voicemail. I restored the most recent copy of Sprint's Voicemail app to receive voicemails and it has been working like it did in Sense. Thanks to JusticeAA and SavoctaFTW for this fix.
Anyway, I haven't had any phantom voicemails for 3 days after extensive testing. You will need to use Handcent or a similar program to blacklist the 9016 text though. Let me know if this works.

Very nice. I just ended up turning off voicemail notifications when I was using CM7. It was quite annoying.

TMO US: Haunting empty SMS message from number 129

Hi!
I noticed a weird thing on my HD2.
There is an empty SMS message from 129 number that shows up in the inbox. After deleting it, it keeps coming back after a relatively short period of time. I DO NOT get any notifications about new SMS messages, so it's likely that this is some sort of phantom message.
I have disabled HTC messaging app and disabled the HTC messaging service (so that new SMS notifications contain "Save as read" and "Dismiss" options) and installed "SMS patch" application (from one of the other threads here) so fix the SMS counter.
Anyone has same issue?
The mothership is coming for you....
Honestly though dont have a clue
Yeah, I get that too. I even replied to the text but, never got a response.
yup, ,mine to... can't delete it without it coming right back. Really strange
lol i thought it was only me
It has to do with visual voicemail.
I enabled it and began getting these. I then disabled them and I don't get them anymore
I noticed it a couple of times, but I've deleted it and it hasn't come back.
My visual voicemail is enabled and is working.
Looks like the mystery is solved. Thanks skylinepigeon.
I removed Visual Voicemail service from my T-Mobile account (as I don't really use it anyways), and this phantom message is not coming back anymore.
I got these everyday, when turn on the phone after it's fully charged. I been getting these before I got have Visual Voicemail service on my account.
Sorry to say it's not Visual Voicemail, i just switched over to the HD2 from a Mytouch didnt have VV on mytouch but I did get a 129 message also. I delated the google sync calander on my laptop thinking that was it and I have not gotten a 129 message yet

Have you tried calling TMobile and asking thm to remove VVM from your account? Just because your previous phone didn't have VVM doesn't mean a SMS wasn't being sent out.
Also check http://forums.t-mobile.com/t5/T-Mobile-Touch-Pro2/message-from-129/td-p/171226 for some possible solutions.
I get this even after ditching VVM. It has to do with voicemail though. It only shows up for me if someone leaves me a voicemail or if I have any saved. What I do to get rid of it is open it up, transfer it from the sim to the phone, then delete it. And delete the voicemail(s), of course. I've called T-Mo numerous times about this too, they're aware of it & they claim they're working on it. Which I believe, because I used to not be able to delete it at all & now I can.
Me too!

I signed up for Micorsoft MyPhone syncronization, I wonder if it has something to do with syncing up the phone?
I'm getting these empty SMS from 129 every time my phone (Verizon LG G2 VS980) boots up. Does anyone know how to make it stop? I noticed that when I delete voice mails, I get these empty SMS from 129 as well. So I am convinced that they have something to do with voicemail. It seems that T-Mobile think that my phone needs these SMS but my phone does not and ended up showing these SMS to me. This only happens when I am running a custom ROM.

Visual Voicemail and 2.2

With JI6 Visual Voicemail worked just fine, when a person left a message the Voice Mail icon didn't come up, it went right to Visual. now with JK6 I get both. I see there's an app from T-mobile you can download but why? Is this just an issues with JK6 or do I really have to download the T-mo VVM app?
i have jk6 and im not experiencing that problem.
I have the same problem. Also, some voicemails don't go to vvm, just regular...seems random.
My phone has JI6 and I have had occasional problems with VVM, like notification showing up the next day, or reappearing after I deleted it. I talked with TMo and they said it was a known issue with a number of customers and they were working on a fix. I had them disable it at their end so that I just get regular notifications.

I went and looked at the VVM app on the market from T-Mobile and people were saying you have to activate it? Why is that?
And yea, I get it sometimes it will only to the regular VM and then a few minutes later it will show the VVM icon and the VM icon goes away... it's just annoying is all.

NO notifications when receiving texts. anyone else? solution?

My Evo Shift frequently does not make a noise or vibrate when I receive texts.
I checked the settings, and even send test texts from other phones.
Sometimes it rings/vinbrates, sometimes it doesn't.
Anyone else experiencing the same issues?
Is there a fix?
Thanks.
FYI: I did a search of titles under "texts" and "notifications" and got zero results.
Odd question: did you choose to do the GVoice integration with your account? I noticed when I did the integration that text messages were interrupted by Google Voice and not sent directly to my phone. I fixed it by checking a box that said send text to the phone or something along those lines in my GVoice settings. I only found out that was happening because I had their app on my phone still. Otherwise I would not have received any notification either.

Thanks for the repsonse.
No, I did not set up Gvoice Integration.
I've noticed that sometimes if I have the messaging app open when I lock my phone it won't notify me. pretty annoying. Not sure if it's the same problem on your end but mine has done it on every Sense ROM I've tried. I haven't ran any AOSP long enough to notice if they do it as well.
My wife has been complaining of this lately. Myself I haven't had it happen to me, but I use Handcent.
I have the same problem. I have GV installed, and do not get any sound/vibrate when receiving texts. This is a also a problem with voicemails, as i get a text saying to call a number. When i call it tells me to setup my voicemail (its already setup). If i dial 1 from dialer, it goes to voicemail per usual. Is GV causing these problems? - thanks - Viperspike
Wow. I don't even get voicemails. I switched to PF something that is a visual voicemail because my wife was pissed as hell I "ignored" 3 calls. They never even showed up until i called the voicemail number. Same issue with texts.... Anyone have any ideas?

Mine does the same exact thing...I've gotten into the habit of going to the home screen and its hasn't missed a message notification yet...I hope that helps you OP.
Sent from my PG06100 using XDA App
Try using handcent or upgrade to GB 2.3.4 the messaging app in 2.3.4 is a lot better especially with notifications.

SWAG=ON and voicemail problem

Since I installed the SOS ROM I no longer get a message when I have a new voicemail. I see a missed call notification and if I dial in to my phone number it will tell me I have voicemails. Does anyone know of a fix for this?
Thanks
You still use the stock voicemail? Lol jk. I'ma look into this, but it should be working. Give me a few days. I'll try to be quick though, I realize that not getting VMs blows

No voicemail notifications

I've been getting voicemails recently and am not receiving any notifications stating to call into my voicemail to verify them. I do not have enhanced voicemail (or voicemail to txt) but my plan still has voicemail. I've looked everywhere and cannot find any notifications or voicemail app on how to enable these notifications? Can anyone please guide me in the right direction, I don't feel like calling my voicemail everyday to verify if someone has left me a message.
I had this problem on an older phone (lollipop) on Sprint. Doing some Google searches brought me to a really odd solution. I was using Google's messaging app instead of the stock one. Reverting to the stock app and rebooting solved the issue. If you've switched SMS apps, it's worth a try.
ya im using yaata messaging i believe this might be the issue.. ill try reverting and see what happens
thanks!
