HD2 have 2 versions? - HD2 General

so i just found out there's HD2 that has 448 MB RAM, 512 MB ROM
and the other one 576 MB RAM, 1 GB ROM
so which one that can have multiple boot and can be installed with other OS than android?

Both can be used with multiple OSes
And both EU and TMOUS have 576 RAM, the difference is in the ROM capacity. Install new RADIO and you will unlock 576RAM
EU have 512MB ROM and TMOUS have 1024MB of ROM space.

....just be careful when installing radio with those TMOUS as a wrong radio can brick the phone as I read a lot here

there are (were) developer samples that had around 400MB of RAM or was it ROM?
ut as the others have stated, 576 MB RAM is the normal (tho the lasy 50 MB might not be available
the 1GB one is the ROM, usually its 512MB
you have to remember that its possible to give more RAM to the GPU which makes it look like there is less when viewed within a OS.

Any radio version from 2.08.50.?? will unlock the extra RAM in EU HD2's. The 2.08.50.?? and up are TMOUS HD2 radio versions anyway so they are ok to flash to a TMOUS HD2. You can not though flash any radio that has a 51 in it or radio versions 2.01.??.?? to 2.07.??.??. Any of those versions I mentioned absolutely will brick a TMOUS HD2.

Indeed "the 1 GB one is the R(ead)O(nly)M(emory)" of US TMobile version of HD2, "usually its 512MB" only if it's a EU/international version of HD2...

cant remember, its been a long time since ive thought about such things lol!
On reflection, I have a feeling I got that wrong...
Its all to do with the graphics
the device only had ~400MB of RAM, some of that is used for graphics so it comes down to ~300MB
I think engineering samples had no more than ~300 total, meaning less than that when you take graphics out of it.
Ergo, the ROM is ~500MB, not the RAM which is a bit less, ~450MB
Google it, and im sure you will find the answer

You can't have larger ROM,if we're talking about memory, it's a matter of hardware...

Big Rom
Big rom means more software in rom...
MAPS in rom no need of memory card....

HD2 T8585 with 320 MB RAM. Enable 576 MB is possible?

Hi guys,
i have a pre-release of HTC HD2. In the hardware settings i notice that i have 320 MB (RAM size).
Actually i have the duttys ROM and i would like to know if there's a possibility to enable the 576 MB (RAM size).
If yes how is it possible?
Thanks in advance.

Well I would also like to know that on T8585 can we enable the 576MB RAM..!!!
Thanks..!!!
Nic:
What RAM does it say in 'Hardware information'?
Hi,
RAM Size=320MB (Hardware information).
Actually i installed the radio 2.08 and the Duttys ROM.

I have a t8585 (O2 hd2) with 448Mb RAM (after installing some stuff).
Hi guys,
after the installation of "Duttys_LEO_Sense_2.5_5.2.23544.5.5.0_2.10_HG_Ultimate_Radio_2.08.50.8.2_V1.1_WWE" i have in the hardware information always 320MB (RAM Size).
So i'm thinking that it's not possible to unlock hidden memory (if there's), in my model (i have a pre-release of HD2).
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks again

Also there are guides on how to obtain the full RAM.
I have the same device T8585 with 448 MB Ram - on the hardware info page -
But it seems to work with only 336MB Ram on the Task Manager page :/

I haven't found anything that solves the situation.
I tried many ROMs (with 576 enabled), but i always have in the hardware information 320MB (RAM Size). So if you know some link, documents, ROM, please send me detail.

Alright stock hd2 should have 448 ram on it no matter what, i had rom 1.43 and i had 448mb ram now im using Energy's rom and i have 576 ram flashed alot of other roms with 576ram enabled and i havent got any probs.
Be sure to flash the correct Radio/Rom cuz from what ive read on the forums only a few radio's enable 576mb ram hope this helps xD
I have the following situation (Software Information)

Humm considering the rom u have and radio it should show u 576mb ram really strange.
Try flashing another rom with ram enabled to test it, if not mayb its just not showing it but the ram is actually enabled
and use MTTY(u can find the sticky in Rom Dev thread) between flashing so u have a clean base.
I have tested many ROMs that says 576MB enabled but the result was always the same (320MB in RAM Size).
Thanks

There is no upgrade to 448 as this is the standard. If you really got the pre-release some users could see in early videos of the HD2 then this is a hardware-issue which can not be fixed/improved. Only chance i see is to contact HTCs RepairService and ask if a physical upgrade is possible and what it would cost... Sorry Mate
BTW: Where did you get that pre-release ?
Elburna,
after many ROMs installed i think that the only solution is to contact HTC and ask if a physical upgrade is possible.
Thanks
Niccolo
The reason to that your only seeing 320/336MB of ram is because HD2 uses 128MB for graphics/graphical acceleration.
So 320+128=448
But if there is a way to further increase the amount of ram to 576MB even if you bought the 448MB edition then i would like to hear about it to!
EDIT: LOL, found just seconds after writing this post that you can flash the newest 2.10 Radio ROM to enable 576MB, but i think that you'll have to install a new Custom ROM to make use of the 576MBs . But you will still have 128MB of the 576MB used to graphics. But there might be custom rom that enables full usage of the 576MBs.

I got an HTC Pro Three too, the pre release version of HD2.
So you mean, this device has 448mb too? its just that 320MB is the allocated RAM to the user, and the 128MB are for graphics? that's odd, because currently with the latest Artemis ROM, i do have maximum of 60 to 65MB of free RAM available (this rom has the highest free ram i have ever tried) which limits my device's activities, i can't do multi taking that much.
So with the 448MB HD2 (official), there is also a hidden RAM of 128MB so that it can be unlocked and make use all (576MB) of the 128MB, which i assume is also dedicated for graphics. ( 448 + 128 = 576MB ).
I think that these two devices are different in terms of RAM (HD2 and the pre release of HD2).
For the HD2, hacking the ROM and using 2.06, 2.07 and 2.08 (2.10) radio versions will make the 576MB free to the user, thus eliminating the rom to dedicate the 128MB to graphics.
While for the HD2 Pre Release (HTC Pro Three), has a total of 320MB of RAM, 128MB is dedicated to the video and hidden from the user. I would like to think also that the radio versions mentioned above will be able to unlock the hidden 128MB, but IMO, there should be a different rom hack for this HTC Pro Three, as the hack applied on the HD2 (448MB ) won't apply here.
Any tips from the cooks how to make the rom for hd2 (448mb) 576MB ram compatible? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Question on android for leo and tmous leo

If i am correct to understand the tmous has 1024mb ram as the original has 512.
so will it eventually come that the roms will be able to handle the more ram and then be spit off into a tmous version and a regular leo version?
will this make the tmous verion faster?

in theory if you have more ram, you should be able to keep more applications open smoother. so yea, and regarding the different versions, we'll have to wait and see.

ok thanks. because i put in the "full ram" zimage and yeah i was like i think my tmous has more memory then this. thanks i will continue supporting
they both have 576mb of ram however the eu version of the leo was locked down to 448mb of ram (unlocked by flashing a 576mb enabled radio). However the Us leo has 1024mb(not ram) of internal flash memory whereas the eu leo has 512mb of internal flash memory

Both versions have the same RAM. You're confusing RAM and ROM... The tmous has 1024mb ROM, which is internal storage, so there is no speed difference, just internal storage.

[Q] total memory only 411 MB AmericanAndroid SD for Tmobile HD2

i installed AmericanAndroid in SD card but the total memory available(RAM) is only 411 ( settings>about) though the Tmobile HD2 has RAm of 576 MB.
i m not about to figure out why
We all show 411. For a start (as documented countless times) the graphics chipset takes 128 Meg, so you only really have 448, (same in winmo) then I guess android or the system must take 30 odd meg,
I've tried five or six different nand roms and they all show 411.
Ok thanks for the clatification just to confirm r u also using tmobile hd2 US version
no, but magldr unlocks the extra ram on a reg leo in the same way that tmous rom and radio does in winmo, otherwise mine would show 283 not 411 (or there abouts) since as stock we have 448 - 128 for graphics = 336 actually available.
Thats why we reg users must use ..50.. radios with magldr.

i couldn't understand most of what you said .. are you saying that there are specific MAGLDR and RADIO version to enable full RAM capacity for TMOUS HD2?
and as i understand u r also using TMOUS HD2 and you also getting 411 MB total available memory in Androids builds.. if that is so then i dont have anymore query . because you know more of this stuff than me.. i just put android in my TMOUS HD2 yesterday..
also i m using Radio Leo 2.15.50.14 Radio version and MAGLDR113_DAF MAGLDR..
No, I'm using a normal Leo, (euro hd2, regular, whatever you wanna call it) which is sold as having 448 Meg of ram, with 128 for gfx, 320 useable, ( yours has 576 with 448 useable) but was soon discovered that flashing tmous roms and radio to it unlocks an otherwise hidden 128 Meg, giving us 576 meg too.(don't anyone bother asking is it real, the software believes it, many many people with a ton more knowledge than me believe it, it works, nuff said)
Anyway, magldr requires a tmous radio to work(none of this affects you, you can't not have a tmous radio else you would have a brick) and magldr plus tmous radio does the same for us reg users as a tmous winmo rom and radio, unlocks our hidden ram and so we all have 576-128less a bit more =411 available to the OS
You DO NOT have hidden ram, so don't ask.
Oh thanks that brings a lot of clarity to my understanding. So basically tmous which were sold with have larger ram of 576 and the other non US hd2 sold with said 448 ram are basically same in terms if ram hardware capacity. When i bought hd2 i paid special attention to tmous hd2 necause it ad larger ram capacity bow i realise both tmous and non US hd2 are same.
what about the internal ROM capacity is it also hidden and discovered in the case of non US hd2
Thanks a lot for your clariication
No, there's no hidden rom (well, not that anyone has found, be nice tho!) So you still have double rom PLUS the tmouses were pretty heavily subsidised, (I paid near 175 dollars cash plus 18 months at 60 dollars/mth contract ((all in pounds, I'm estimating)) for mine) so don't feel you were ripped off. The only negative with the tmous is the danger of radio bricking and the ugly branding on the case.

Didn't you even bother reading the first page of this thread?! Some people can be so stupid...
NO, THERE IS NO HIDDEN RAM WHICH CAN BE UNLOCKED. IN ANDROID YOU WILL GET 411 MB AND NOTHING MORE.
Also, why would you even need any form of HSPL for SD Android? It's not needed, and why would you flash HSPL3.03 rather than 2.08?
I had a T-Mobile HD2. It got broken and was changed for an EU version.
I'm in the process to install NativeSD Android version and I can report what I noticed on my device.
It is running windows. No modification. WM 6.5 (5.2.21913; ROM 3.14.407.2 (04666) GER).
Before I setup the SPL to 2.08.HSPL, it was showing 411 MB of RAM. Now, after the 2.08, it is showing 576 MB.
(still on Win 6.5. I don't know how it is going to stay after installing the NativeSD Android)
So, maybe it is right...
Updating again...
After installing the Native-SD Android, the device shows 410 MB.
Here I found a possible explanation:
"NOTE2: You do NOT need to flash a Stock Rom before starting this, a Custom Rom will be fine as long as you have HardSPL 2.08 and a 576 RAM compatable Radio"
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893948
So, it was showing 576 MB after update the radio and using WM.
After installing Native-SD Android, it shows only 410 MB.

Hi,
You have all the information you need.
2.07.51.22_2. is NOT suitable for NAND.
In the thread you quoted look at the requirements before you begin. There is the:
2.15.50.14 Radio *HERE*
Click on the link, download the radio and then continue with the information in MSKIP's thread.
Read everything carefully and you should be ok.
Click on the link on the word HERE in bold like below in the link you gave above. I have problem getting into that radio thread. When you're in that radio thread you just have to download and flash it with any radio 2.08.50 or later, but radio NEEDS to be 2.**.50.** basically must match number 2 and 50 because you have 576 RAM. There are only 2 type of RAM; 1024 RAM or 576 RAM. You provided 448MB that's label as 576 RAM.
1. YOU NEED A RADIO WHICH SUPPORTS 576 RAM (2.08.50 or later should be fine but the Radio NEEDS to be 2.**.50.**). I recommed the 2.15.50.14 Radio *HERE*

*cough* really? 576 and 448, methinks.
@OP the point no one has made is that all 51 radios are earlier (or 'lower') than 50 radios.
51 came from early regular hd2 roms and ONLY from regular hd2 roms, tmous roms all have 50 radios, and all android magldr stuff requires tmous radios, hence 50 radios. 51 radios are useless for anything interesting.

[Q] Radio which supports 576 MB Ram on SPL 3.03.0000

Hello!
I have looked my way through every forum I could on the subject but cannot find my answer. I'm not sure If this is posted in the right section either. Anyways here's my problem.
I am trying to install WP7(mango) on my HTC HD2. Its SPL version is 3.03.0000. SO I know I need to use HSPL4.
The problem is that I need to flash a new radio which supports 576 MB. Right????
Also, Is there a certain MAGLDR I need to use for SPL 3.03?
Thanks for your help!

The radio version matters on the regional specs (U.S., Europe, Asia, SA, etc) of your phone not how much memory although only the U.S. version has 1gb others have 576. Regardless, WP7 only recognizes 576mb no matter which version.
There is radio thread in the rom development forum, I think, and also one here in general q&a, too.
As for HSPL, only v2.08 works for installing WP7 on the HD2. You will see what you need in any of the WP7 rom threads. v3.03 will not work.
See tutorial links in my signature.
So radio doesnt matter, but I need HSPL v2.08. I'm just going to assume I dont need a certain version of MAGLDR?

The radio does matter. Like I said, the hardware radio driver depends on your phone's region specs. If you have a European HD2, more than likely you'll have the correct driver but may need
to be updated to the latest European/carrier version. Look in the radio threads for any current version for your phone version and carrier.
There is only one version of Magdlr...2.something, I think.
Well I got everything I need now. Except the ROM because the link is broke. oh well.

...U.S. version has 1gb others have 576. Regardless, WP7 only recognizes 576mb no matter which version....

wrong...
US HD2 has 1GB NAND Flash memory vs EU HD2's 512 MB NAND Flash memory...both model has physically 576 MB RAM, but the EU model limited to 448 MB RAM by HTC for certain purposes. With the correct radio roms (with .50. in the version number) and HSPL, it can be allowed to 576 MB...

Well, only HSPL 2.08 is usable to flash WP7 as well as Android. Besides, 576 is moot since WP7 consolidates RAM and SD for total system memory. WP7 is unusable without an SD card.
Use HSPL4 to install HSPL 3.03 then go on use it install HSPL 2.08, MAGLDR could only on HSPL 2.08
