Root your A500 after 3.2 OTA update and losing root..

I couldn't live without a Rooted A500 for ad-hoc support to tether to my iPhone 3GS.
I did everything in this order.

Downgrade from 3.2 to 3.0.1

Install ROOTED 3.2 custom ROM of your chioce.
I used Taboonay 2.1. I downloaded the ROM right to the A500 and then copied it to the SD card using 'File Manager HD'.

Works Great on my A500 and only took an hour to complete. And Taboonay already has Ad-hoc fix.

Nah, too troublesome.

I rather wait for root to be available for 3.2

Some people just want everything handed to them on a silver platter...

i dont think anyone is working for 3.2 root now, people just will make downgrading much easier, as the exploit is already found, /...

not trying to flame but why would u update just to go back...... why wouldn't you just flash a custom 3.2 rom and be done with it lol

Updated to stock 3.2 only to find that they can't live with that. I think.

I like your attitude. haha. After waited like 2 months, and finally got the stock 3.2 from one of our friends here, and then has to go through all these back to a custom ROM, that seems too much

Why would anyone that goes here downgrade then take an official update that has no root...smh

That's a good question!
If your tablet needs to be rooted, and you updated yours to v3.2 from 3.0.1 via OTA, you'll loose the root privilege. - That's the answer.
So, to be able to get his tablet rooted, either downgrade and install his/her chosen ROM (already root).
And that's what I did on my A500 when I updated to 3.2 via OTA. I have to downgrade back to 3.0.1 and installed my chose ROM.

My A500 Rocks!

I updated my A500 before I realized I cannot root the device with the new update. Now I have to downgrade it. I look at the tutorial on how to downgrade but I am confused since I am new to this. When I download the package from the tutorial post to downgrade, do I download it directly to my tablet or my PC? At instruction #3 it says use and editor to edit the UID number. Is this file keep on the tablet or the PC? Like I said I am a little bit confuse here. If anyone can provide me some help it will be great.

Because custom ROMs are buggy as hell. I'd rather have full functionality than not be able to use Bluetooth or volume in a set of games or some other minor annoying bugs.
The update just hit the US. I'm sure that will give people the opportunity to work on root for 3.2.

The downgrade has to be done over your computer. You only need to connect your tablet to the computer when the software tells you to.
You also edit that file on your computer.
After your downgrade you have do the next steps (root, flash new rooted or custom rom) on your tablet.

Thanks, I figured it out. Have another question. After I downgraded back to 3.01. Will I be able to update through Acer? I went to system and check for any update and it said my system is up-to-date. Does that mean I won't be able to do auto update from Acer?

Please, let me know if downgrade will leave all the data, programs and settings on the tablet or if it will wipe it clean.

no just did it this morning for myself, keeps everything however the 3.0.1 downgrade file (one I used, don't know if there's a 3.1 ) is horribly mangled and there's force closes out the butt but its just enough to get root and install CWM as long as you have iconiaroot app and Acer recovery installer from market installed already as I don't think the keyboard will be usable
I did the second easy method though where you just place the stock rom update.zip file on SD card and install on boot, I believe the one you do connected to your computer will wipe everything

Sorry to bug - Do you have 3G support using the custom ROM? Heard a lot of the ROMS are only written for the A500 without 3G radio?
Want to downgrade then install custom 3.2 rooted, but need to make sure it is compatible with the A501 (3G radio)

Galaxy note BIG PROBLEM please help

Hi there
I am a total novice and foolishly attempted to root my galaxy note. i managed it, but the performance was really slow and i didnt know what i was doing. i think (or thought) i unrooted it and got rid of the CWM thing.
I have just tried to update firmware via KIES and it says "YOUR DEVICE DOES NOT SUPPORT SOFTWARE UPDATING VIA KIES"
What does this mean?
Does it mean i cannot receive any updates (including ICS when it finally arrives)?
Does it mean i have not put a stock ROM on (as i thought i had)?
Im totally clueless and am worried ive messed my note up

Dont be panicked, if u still rooted just flash ur stock rom again using mobile odin,and uncheck all ever root boxes if u dont want root any more

I'm pretty sure I'm not rooted anymore but think I may have the wrong firmware on my phone.
Will I be able to carry out these actions even though its unrooted?
Also when I download the stock ROM and unzip it with winrar, which specific file do I link to the pda in Odin?

You're right, they come with the downloaded software, just give it a go...you'll see.

Uk Stock ROM
Ok, so i downloaded the Stock UK ROM, extracted it with Winrar, and the following 3 files came from the main file
modem.bin
redbend_ua
zImage
should i have extracted the main file or just put it in Odin whole?

Rom packages come in many flavour. As a guide to newbie, odin works with .tar files. So if you downloaded a .tar, there is no need to uncompress.
Anyway, as been repeated several times in this thread, if you read from ketan's tutorial, you should have not asked the question....

If so i advice you to Google : DarkyRom_Note there you will find easy step by step tutorials to fix your issues. I'm not an expert at all so if I can do it, you can do it!

Remove yellow triangle and reset binary counter on stock ics 4.0.3 galaxy note

Thanks to Chainfire for his workaround in removing the yellow triangle on my galaxy note running stock ICS.
I used the triangle away app made by chainfire.
First thing i did did not work properly and returned error message "could not locate hidden partition".
SOLUTION:
1.DOWLOAD ZCLP1 ICE CREAM SANDWICH ROM.
2.FLASH THE DOWNLOADED ROM VIA PC ODIN OR MOBILE ODIN.
3.AFTER FLASHING INSTALL THE TRIANGLE AWAY APP BY CHAINFIRE.
4. RUN THE TRIANGLE AWAY APP TO REMOVE YELLOW TRIANGLE AND RESET THE BINARY COUNTER.
5. DOWNLOAD THE STOCK OFFICIAL ICS 4.0.3 ROM AND CF ROOT KERNEL LPY BY CHAINFIRE
6. EXTRACT THE DOWNLOADED ROM AND THE CF ROOT KERNEL AND COPY TO THE EXTERNAL MEMORY CARD OF YOU GALAXY NOTE.
7.FLASH THE STOCK ICS VIA MOBILE ODIN SELECTING THE FILE. TAR AND SELECTING THE ZIMAGE ON THE KERNEL MENU OF MOBILE ODIN. SELECT EVERROOT.
8.FLASH THE FIRMWARE AND YOU'RE DONE! AND YOU ARE NOW ON OFFICIAL STOCK ICS ON GALAXY NOTE WITHOUT THE ANNOYING YELLOW TRIANGLE THANKS TO CHAINFIRE FOR SHARING THIS WORKAROUND.

I've flashed to ICS already and didn't have the yellow triangle. However I still have counter. I want to reset this counter but triangle away says "could not locate hidden partition". I guess i must purposely create the triangle.

Correcting.. Chainfire said that he'll work on it once he gets he's Galaxy Note back from Samsung Repair...

Just be careful when flashing...

This method works for ANY firmware stock ROM or custom ROM (GB or ICS).
I tried it on two Notes and both worked flawlessly... triangle removed and binary counter resetted back to zero.

Yes! JIG is safer. But people who are too lazy can use this method.
Also dont waste time by flash some old ROM removing the counter and flashing again to the latest ROM.
CF is porting triangle away for all ROM, so please be patient.

You could flash any cm9 based roms, ta will work

I tried using Triangleaway app with wizzos kernel. But had no success with it.
Next i tried flashing entropys DAFUQ-kernel.
Rebooted, used triangleaway and it worked.
After I just flashed Francos kernel again.
Worked like a charm
So my recommendation would be.
If you are on any sammybased ICS and rooted and need to get rid of triangle.
1. Just flash DAFUQ and reboot.
2. Run triangleaway.
3. Flash any other custom kernel of your choice

It's here for phones with the XEU CSC. If you're on a Carphonewarehouse (CPW) CSC I guess there's no update for you yet.

i did it OTA Via Wi-Fi 3 Sim Unlocked Galaxy Note

On my 2.3.6 LA6 ROM I've got JKay's mod, everything's super stable and there are no issues with Recovery turning the phone into a brick. Does it really make sense to upgrade just now?

Dude ics is super stable 2.3.6 sucked big time for me.. its well worth the upgrade PERIOD!

Well I took the plunge. First I tried Criskelo's ICS V5.1, but I didn't like the theme and very quickly found things that didn't work properly, so then I tried stock LQ2, using Mobile Odin Pro to keep root and the CF-Root V5.6 kernel.
It's early days, but so far I'm happy. Getting set up was a pain - it was only after 2 attempts that I discovered that Bookmark Sort & Backup isn't ICS compatible and was screwing up my Browser. I therefore had to do 2 complete wipes using CF-Root v5.6. This claims to have (probably) fixed the superbrick bug, and it certainly worked fine for me - whew!
I'm missing all the toggles of Jkay because there isn't a version of the 15 toggle mod for stock LQ2, but hopefully that'll come soon and SwipePad replaces the quick launcher panel nicely.
So no regrets yet, but there's still the odd lag here and there, and I can't say it's a significantly better experience. Also I can't sketch to save myself, so the new S-Pen applications aren't important to me. Still, got to move with the times! There's still nothing to replace my wonderful Note.

Downloaded & installed N7000XEULP4 via this site.
I intend to root again as mobile odin failed to inject root - yes I followed the good Dr's direction.
I used PC Odin, reset to factory in stock recovery (post flash) after 15min wait at the Samsung logo (very tentatively re-set due to massive information about deleting killing partitions, mmc sections etc & the unit is now one stock ics 4.0.3

I wish to re-load a previous ics (paranoid android) am I likely to hit the 'brick-wall')?

Help. Bricked galaxy y pro

My friend tried to flash back his stock ROM using Odin on his galaxy y pro duos. During the process it showed him some error and he pulled his phone out. Now it just shows a white screen and keeps restarting. It doesnt enter download mode or even stock recovery. Help please

Well you should have posted in bricked your phone.. post here thtead.. you would have got help faster.. but for yoir problem.. either usb jig.. or samsung care.. dont tell them u did all this.. just tell update via kies this happened..

CWM recovery not working in galaxy y pro duos b5512
I haven't bricked my phone but the CWM recovery mode refuses to install .zip from the sdcard. it says cant mount sdcard. Actually i installed the compact kernel 1.3 from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1913349. It has some glitches and so i wanna revert to 1.25. But i m just stuck here. The CWM recovery cant even wipe the data. It just shows errors upon errors.
Someone please tell me a way to revert to the stock recovery mode.
I have also tried ODIN 1.85 for flashing it with the stock rom i downloaded from samsung updates. i have the phone drivers too. but it doesnt help either.. here is the screenshot of the odin error

I have also tried ODIN 1.85 for flashing it with the stock rom i downloaded from samsung updates. i have the phone drivers too. but it doesnt help either.. here is the screenshot of the odin error

Try to close Kies process and flash a firmware with separated parts (PDA, MODEM, CSC etc).

If you could please give a link to such a firmware. Coz i am looking for it for the past 2 days and havent found one. The ones i found are either blocked or misleading.

Did you try sammobile.com?
If yes, I think exist a tool called SplitFus which transform one package firmware into separated files.

Yup i did just the same last night. It solved my problem. There is a thing called cygnus terminal which can run splitfus2 (splitfus2 is actua;;y a linux based software so cygnus helps it run on windows). It splits the .tar.md5 into three parts which can be used to flash thru ODIN. Heres the link to the tutorial. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25130011. It contains a tutorial video too which shows exactly how to do it.
U can download stock roms from either samsung-updates.com or sammobile.com

PS: while downloading cygnus DONT download the 64-bit version coz it doesnt have support for md5. go for the 32-bit one.

Hello Arnab, Recently I am facing the same problem, My Phone is working fine but I am unable to flash anything with cwm recovery. I had installed hathyon ROM 1.1 and Compact kernel 1.3.
Is this due to Compact kernel 1.3.??
Which kernel are u using now? (I guess 1.25 should be fine.)

ya, i believe its because 1.3.. try to flash older kernel.
