I have seen an influx of users wanting to know how to move to EC09. Most of whom cannot get the OTA because they are not activated. So, I decided to bring a tutorial i made on another forum over here.
Tutorial. Moving from another ROM (EC07, EC03, DL17) to EC09 Rooted with busybox
CREDITS:
Imnuts for the recovery and kernel in section 3, and the stock DL17 (I believe).
Abby_nitewolf for the EC09 Odexed in section 2
This tutorial will Tell you how to move from any ROM to EC09. It will be broken down into 3 sections.
1. Doing the native update
2. How to get Stock EC09
3. How to get DEODEXED EC09
Disclaimer: I am not responsible. This will work. Follow the directions carefully. Print this tutorial out, if possible. And if you have ANY questions or concerns, ASK FIRST. My PM box is free to use, and IRC normally has someone in it that can help.

Now. Let's get to work.
First. There are a couple of methods to getting EC09.
The preferred method is to flash stock DL17, and do the OTA. There are some of you who say you can't GET the update,even though you are on rooted DL17. Chances are, it's because you debloated. Verizon is anal about that. Flashing DL17, will probably fix it. If Not, then we move on to step 2.
The second way, is to flash the full EC09 package, through Odin or Heimdall. We will be dealing with Odin, in this tutorial. The Advantage here is that it is prerooted. Rooting this rom is VERY easy, though. Super one click 2.3.3 does it, every time.
The disadvantage (potentially) is bits and pieces of loose incompatable code running around. That being said, We've flashed people to the full package from DL17, and have seen no ill effects. But, It's very early in this ROM. So, I'd advise a native update, if possible.
SECTION 1. DOING THE NATIVE UPDATE
What you'll need.
1. Samsung Drivers
http://www.samsung.com/us/support/s...d_mdl_cd=SCH-I400ZKAVZW&prd_mdl_name=SCH-I400
2. Odin
https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B86zCGAvr-RabGhVNDBoaU51QVU
3. 7zip (preferably. Winrar works, as well. And it's already installed on most windows computers)
https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B86zCGAvr-RaY1d1VXpJNjE0aGc
4. Stock DL17 (The last OFFICIAL ROM Verizon released, before EC09)
https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B86zCGAvr-RaaHpKWXVKYmVaaUk
5. A good usb cable. If you have had any issues tranfering files, or charging with the cable you have, Don't do this. Figure out what the issue is, first (It's either your cable, usb port, or micro usb on the phone).
To Do.
1. Download and install Samsung drivers, if not already on your computer.
2. Open Odin, and click the PDA button. Then browse for the stock DL17.tar.md5
3. Power down phone, and put it in download mode. (vol down and power at the same time).
4. plug your phone in, and wait for drivers to finish installing, if you just installed the samsung drivers. You will get a notification pop up telling you when it's done.
5. You should now have a yellow box in the upper left hand corner of odin. It will say 'com' and have a number in it.
If you have this, click start. If not, unplug your phone, shut down odin, then repeat step 3 and 4.
It is now flashing your phone with DL17. DO NOT UNPLUG YOUR PHONE, AT ANY TIME AFTER IT PASSES 'SETUPCONNECTION'.
When it is done, your phone will reboot on it's own. Factoryfs will take a little time, and modem will seem to hang a few seconds. This is normal.
NOTE: FLASHING THIS WILL WIPE DATA. BACK UP BEFORE YOU FLASH. And, yes. There is a reason I put this at the end of this section.
Now. Once your phone is back up, set it up, as far as you want to. None of it is actually neccessary. Then, go to Settings/about phone/system updates and click check for updates. You will recieve 2 of them The first one is EB01. It's sole purpose is to fix ota compatability. The second one will be EC09.
At this point, you are good to go. If you want to simply root, download super one click
https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B86zCGAvr-RaT0hNN2FHdWN6M2c
Make sure usb debugging is checked in settings/applications/development. Plug in, and click ROOT. Let it run. Reboot, and you will be rooted. If you want to go to a deodexed ROM (necessary for flashing themes, mods, and apk hacks), then move to section 3.
SECTION 2. UPDATING VIA ODIN ROM
What you'll need.
1. Samsung Drivers (section 1)
2. Odin (section 1)
3. EC09 Odexed
https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B86zCGAvr-RaeFp6UklZS0RpZDA
4. Continuum PIT file
https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B86zCGAvr-RaTXJiZkJYSW5wdTg
To Do.
1. Install samsung drivers, if not already on your computer.
2. Place phone in download mode (vol down and power at the same time)
3. plug in, and let the drivers finish installing, if need be.
4. Open Odin. You will have a small box in the upper left turn yellow, and say 'com' with a number. If you do not have this, do not proceed.
5. Click the PIT browse button, and find the continuum PIT file and select it.
6 UNCHECK REPARTITION. (Note, if flash fails, you can do it again with repartition checked. But, we haven't had that instance happen, yet.)
7. click browse in the PDA field, and find the EC09 Odexed.tar.md5 and select it.
8 Double check that the ONLY BOXES CHECKED ARE autoreboot, f.reset time, and PDA. PIT has the continuum PIT file in place, and PDA has the ec09 odexed file in place.
If everything is set, click start. Again. It will take a while on factoryfs and hang on modem for a few seconds. It is normal. Again, it will reboot your phone. And yes, again. This will wipe data, so back up first.
Once the flash completes, you will have stock odexed EC09, rooted with busybox. If this is all you need, then you are done. If you want to go to a deodexed rom (Necessary for theme/mod flashing) proceed to section 3
SECTION 3: FLASHING CLOCKWORK MOD RECOVERY, AND DEODEXED ROM
What you'll need:
1. Samsung drivers (section 1)
2. Odin (section 1)
3. Cwm kernel and recovery.bin
https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B86zCGAvr-RaNzN2c1BRc0xWd00
5. EC09 Deodexed.zip
https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B86zCGAvr-RaZkRPcFVadjctVDQ
To do:
1. Plug your phone into your computer, and mount the sdcard. Then drag the EC09_deodexed.zip to the root of your sdcard (Not in any folders). Stop the connection, and let media scanner finish.
2. Install samsung drivers, if not done.
3. extract Odin to your desktop, and open it.
4. Put the I400_cwm.tar.md5 in the PDA section
5. Put your phone in download mode, and plug in (vol down and power at the same time).
6. wait for drivers to finish installing, if need be.
7. Odin will now have a yellow box in upper left with 'com' and a number. If it doesn't unplug, close odin, open odin, replug. If it still doesn't have it, do not proceed. If it does, repeat step 4, then move to next step.
8. UNCHECK autoreboot.
9. The only 2 things that should be checked are f.reset time and the box next to the PDA field. If so, click start.
The flash will take less than 5 seconds. It will NOT reboot your phone, so look at the large box in the upper left, during the flash. It should say 'Recovery', 'Kernel', 'Pass' then 'reset'. When it says reset, and the dialogue box in lower left say '(pass 1/fail 0)', then you can unplug.
10. Pull your battery, then replace it. Put the cover back on.
11. Get into recovery mode (vol up, down and power, at the same time until you see the samsung logo).
12.You will boot directly int CWM (thank you Imnuts)
13. In CWM, using volume keys to move and POWER to select, go to advanced, then to 'wipe dalvik cache'. Select the yes from among the 'no' options
14. use your back button (where it would be) to back out to the main cwm menu (hit back once. the first option in the main cwm menu is 'reboot system now')
15. scroll to 'install zip from sdcard' and select.
15A. scroll to 'choose zip from sdcard' and select.
16. Now you will see the entire contents of your sdcard. Find the EC09_deodexed.zip, and select it. Then select the yes, from among the no options.
17. After it installs, you will be sent back to the 'choose zip from sdcard' menu. Hit the back button once. Then select 'reboot system now.
18. Boot will take a few minutes. It's rebuilding your dalvik cache. Be patient.
When your phone reboots, you will be on EC09 Deodexed, rooted, with busybox.
Flashing the files in section 3 will NOT wipe your data. BUT, you must be on an EC09 rom, before you flash this one.
That is it. Enjoy.
Questions, concerns, inaccuracies are all welcome. So are thanks button clicks.

There is another way to update to EC09, stock non rooted. I did not include it in my tutorial, because I have not done it personally, and I tend to avoid making tutorials on things that I have not done. That being said, this is Trailblazer's work, so it is obviously good to go.
What you'll need (1-3 are linked in section one of the tutorial):
1. DL17
2. Odin
3. Samsung drivers
4. The update packages, found here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1499619
To do: (Trailblazer, if you see this, verify my work).
1. Flash back to stock DL17, as instructed in section 1 of the tutorial
2. Take the EB01 package and rename it update.zip (Note: If you do not have your computer set up to show file extentions, just rename it update. Otherwise, it will show up as 'update.zip.zip' on your phone, and will be unflashable.)
3. Remove the 'update.zip' used for CWM from your sdcard, (if there. If you've never done any of this before, and don't have a file called 'update.zip' on your sdcard, move to the next step)
4. Place the EB01 file that you just renamed to 'update.zip' on the root of your sdcard
5. Reboot into recovery (power down. Once powered off, hold vol up, vol down, and power at the same time until you see samsung logo. The recovery text will be dark blue).
6. Navigate to 'apply sdcard: update.zip' and select it. I believe with the camera button.
It should now go to a screen with a box and an arrow coming out of it, and an android next to it. Let the process run. Your phone will reboot.
7. After reboot, follow steps 2-6 for the EC09 package. Once your phone reboots again, you will be on stock non rooted EC09.
If you choose to do this method, Make sure you click Trailblazer's thanks button while you are downloading the links. And if you have a couple of bucks to donate to him, go for it. I think he got a car recently, and ya'll know what gas is like, these days.
This guide is a big help including little things like saying you can move from any ROM to any ROM and to not use the PIT file unless you have to. I looked around quite a bit, and things like that are rarely if ever mentioned even in newbie guides. Everyone talks about DL17, well, if your phone is still on DJ20 or something, and if guides don't mention you can go from any ROM straight to EC09, that can cause a concern if you've never done it before.
Couple things:
1) There's no mention of pulling the battery before going into download mode. I know some people have to do that while others don't. I've also seen mention of people getting a "can't open the serial com port" or similar error after pressing "Start" in Odin and then Odin fails. That com error can/may go away and Odin will work if the battery is pulled before entering download mode.
2) If your phone won't connect via USB to the PC, make sure Windows auto updates is turned on. (Windows 7, anyway. Don't know about previous versions.) If you have auto updates turned off, Windows may not auto download certain drivers you might need. This also applies to people missing the drivers for rooting with SuperOneClick.
3) Just so newbies aren't waiting an hour for their phone to finish flashing... when you get a yellow "Pass" box in Odin, you're done and can disconnect the USB cable.

I've just rooted but now my phone doesn't vibrate when I push a button, and my blue tooth won't turn on.
Not sure how you rooted....but first off id Odin flash myself back to DL09/DL05 once I got my phone back up and withoit those errors...thats a SURE fire way in, my mind to let me knife the root you used is broke or maybe something was miss...i have used Android Central way and the 10 times I have had to re root works everytime
That root can be found http://forum.androidcentral.com/verizon-fascinate-rooting-roms-hacks/33899-how-root.html
If you flash your phone back to scratch abs it still had vibration and bluetooth issues its further into your phone...sdo lets hope!!!
Goodluck!!!

That is exactly where i followed the directions to root so i should have been good. where do get the flash myself back to DL09/DL05?
http://www.multiupload.com/TYDLC2HJWB
Thats the DL09.md5.tar
As far as you used that way I'm at a lost as to why...once it did the job you confirmed it was indeed rooted??
And when you ran the gui that popped it it did physically recognize your phone right??
Heres a youtube and basically before I knew anything when I first started this I followed this guy http://youtube.com/index?desktop_uri=/&gl=US#/watch?xl=xl_blazer&v=my7avMurZG0
Sorry my suggestion was a bust

so i go back to DL09 even though i was OTA to EA28? How deep are you into Rooting? you seem really helpful
The ONLY thing EA28 does is fix emergency calls while phone is locked....I'm wrong I know I'm wrong...but in my opinion if there is a dire need to use emergency I can A: unlock my phone or if I'm in a wreck B: I won't be able to use it anyway lol....
Im NO way as good as some on here, I just learn and adapt quickly...rooting its self can be done tho outside of using the one I provided... There is another I know a little about called "Samsung one click root" it "says" universal and it had worked on mine...and a captivate (AT&T) so maybe give that a shot????
On one click root
-Put phone in usb debuvging
-Attach usb
-Open one click root
-Click root
-Itll pop up and read...it will restart your phone
-Read the direction on the GUI
It usually relies on vibrant and captivate...but it is a Galaxy S all model root...so
Edit- to tack on when I did my first root...i lost key touch vibration not full phone however my bluetooth still operated
When you went back to DL09 did your vibration and bluetooth return to normal????

I am thinking i am looking to go back to stock ea28 as now my messenging is also not working. Do you know where to find the Stock Samsung fascinate or can i just do factory reset directly on the phone?
If you flashed back to DL09 and your still,not rooted I see no reason why you can't just factory reset...however verizon had already released EA28 so using active care to OTA update your phone should work fine to pull you back to EA28
Sent from my Samsung Fascinate. FW 2.2.1 BB DlL30
I cant find DL09. i swear i am feeling like a moron
http://www.multiupload.com/TYDLC2HJWB
This is the link i provided earlier, just download it, and flash with Odin you'll be back to DL09 in no time! Then you can OTA the EA28 back in!
If you need a more indepth "How To" let me know i'll be happy to do a quick write up on here for ya!
I had this happen to me, did you forget to flash the appropriate kernal? That's what I did, when I was on dl05, someone kindly gave me a link for the appropriate kernal to flash in Odin, I would look it up for you but I'm on my phone and don't have a computer nearby, you should be able to find it on the appropriate post for your version. I'd recommended getting the new froyo though personally.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
-also, the reason your text messaging isn't working is you forgot to flash the appropriate radios, common mistake, like I said I did the EXACT same thing, I'm assuming your sending and receiving blank text, that would indicate you don't have the appropriate radio flashed for your rom
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
-Step 1: Getting Rooted
Follow this guide here (By Dirrk over at AC) to using One Click Root.
I follwed these directions - http://forum.androidcentral.com/verizon-fascinate-rooting-roms-hacks/33899-how-root.html
-Step 2: Clockwork Mod
Next you need Clockwork Mod, this is basically what controls nearly ALL of the rooted / custom things you'll need. You will use it to manage and install apps and themes and pretty much everything else.
It also can create backups of your roms in case things go bad.
Then this -
THESE FILES ARE ONLY FOR THE VERIZON FASCINATE
THESE FILES HAVE NOT BEEN TESTED ON ANY OTHER SGS PHONE BY ME
THESE FILES WILL PROBABLY NOT WORK FOR YOUR PHONE IF IT IS NOT A VERIZON FASCINATE
First, download and install the samsung drivers found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=779238
Then download odin from here: https://sites.google.com/a/imnuts.ne...edirects=0&d=1
Then download the clockwork package from here: http://goo.gl/HELdr
Then:
Put phone into download mode.
-Turn off phone
-Pull battery
-Press vol down button while plugging into computer
-Should show a yellow triangle
Open odin on pc
-Odin should show a yellow bar with a com port showing that it detects your phone
Click "PDA" button and select the CWMrecovery.tar you downloaded earlier
Click start
This will reboot your phone when complete. This flashes both the kernel and the recovery partition to enable you to flash update.zips signed with test keys. You will need to download Rom Manager from the market and select flash Clockwork Mod and select "fascinate"
Thats all i did so i assume i am missing flashing the kernel? i really think i will enjoy this rooted phone and playing around with making it cool but i really need my bluetooth and Vibrate ring back. Help
Where do i find a link for the appropriate kernal to flash in Odin, where would i find it on the appropriate post for your version EA28. I'd recommended getting the new froyo though personally - Where do i get the new froyo and am i going to have more problems? do you have some good instructions?

Ok here the deal, I was trying to get you back to a working phone before i suggested throwing more software on it,
However EB01 with the DL09 Radio is almost perfect and can be found, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=910921
That also include some good detailed instruction if you read into it, my ONLY suggestion to make sure NO bugs, when you do the Wipe Data/Wipe Cache DO it multiple times, just for safe measure!
To push to that EB01 you need to be in DL09 a CWM should be offered in that link!
Any other question let me know if your going for it...GOOD Luck!
OK Get ready to READ~~
Ok so make sure your phone is in the DL09 or EA28.....Using this process you'll have no need for Odin
DOWNLOAD:
DL30 ROM and Kernel.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/18199645/DL30.zip
* You can go to EB01 first but to me probably someone will have a dispute, but you go here first i know it'll work!! (cause its the way i went..over a week period)
Then
EB01.

NEW CWM Recovery
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/18199645/new_cwm.zip
PUT THESE FILES ON YOUR SD CARD. In any folder you like, or just the SD card main folder, as long as you know where it is.
Steps
1) Flash OLD ClockWork Mod Recovery to your phone. Do this by going to the Market and downloading ROM Manager. Once installed, click "Flash ClockWork Recovery" and choose the Fascinate.
2) Once finished, choose Reboot Into Recovery. Once into recovery, then "Apply sdcard:update.zip".
3) Next, go back to the main menu and choose "Wipe Data/Factory Reset", do this twice for good measure. Then choose "Wipe Cache Partition", do it twice for good measure, it doesn't hurt anything.
4) Once in Recovery, choose "Install zip from sdcard" > "Choose zip from sdcard" > Then locate your "DL30.zip" file that you downloaded earlier. Choose it and then hit YES. Once complete, takes less than a couple minutes usually.
5) FINALLY, choose "Install zip from sdcard" > "Choose zip from sdcard" > Then locate your "new_cwm.zip" file you downloaded earlier. Choose it and hit YES. YOU ARE DONE!!!!
Reboot the phone and enjoy your rooted, bloated, official copy of Verizon Froyo.
For the record, this update ONLY works with DJ05 and DL09 radio. Meaning you must download and flash it to your phone if you do not have it or you won't get texts and probably won't be able to make calls.
Once Booted up and everything is working fine (test your common issues) hold down the power button and select "Recovery"
-Volume Down to apply sdcard:Update.zip
-Hit home key
-Volume Down to Install Zip from sdcard
-Hit BACK button
-Volume Down to Choose zip from SDcard
-Hit Back Button
-Find your EB01 File
-Hit Back Button
- Volume down to yes
- Hit Back Button
Let her work once done loading
-Hit the Search Soft Key a couple times till you find "Reboot System now"
Your now in Froyo 2.2 on EB01 Official Release/Rooted/Bloat Free
Best of luck, let me know how it goes!!!
(most of this was taken from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=937499)
To tack in ....dl30 has some issue EB01 should be clean

HOW TO UN-BRICK YOUR FASCINATE NOW THAT YOU HAVE BRICKED IT
SINCE IT HAS COME TO MY ATTENTION SOME POEPLE ARE CONFUSED ABOUT WHAT PHONE THIS IS FOR, I WILL MAKE IT AS CLEAR AS POSSIBLE
THIS IS FOR THE VERIZON FASCINATE
So you think you bricked your phone? The first thing you need to do is CALM DOWN, NO NEED TO PANIC , the odds are great that following this guide will fix your mistakes and recover your phone.
Sorry Fascinate owners, but I can no longer support this thread. As state below I test everything I post to make sure it works as advertised. I no longer have a fascinate so i can not test anything new. All of the files, I cant guarantee links to other OP's, will still be available, I wont take them down. Your recovery methods have not changed, nor have the PIT files, so this can still be used to recover your device. If you are looking for anything new look at nitsuj17's roll up post here, he maintains it very well so you should be able to find whatever else you need there.
I HAVE PURPOSELY BRICKED MY PHONE BY DOING THE THINGS YOU ARE TOLD NOT TO JUST TO TEST THE CAPABILITIES OF THESE RECOVERY PROGRAMS. UNLESS YOU CAN AFFORD TO HAVE YOUR PHONE REPLACED BY INSURANCE, TRUST THAT I KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT.
SECTION 1: ODIN
SECTION 2: HEIMDALL
SECTION 3: ROOTING METHODS
Since there seems to be an abundance of posts in the Q&A and General Forums asking for help fixing, unbricking, their Fascinates, I decided to try to make a one stop walk through for odin and heimdall with links. Most of us "flash addicts", Developers, and testers have found the Samsung Galaxy Phones are nearly impossible to truly brick without causing physical damage to your phone, in almost all cases it is possible to get it working again.This is nothing more than how to get back a working STOCK phone, nothing custom here that's in the Development section. The first section will cover odin, the second heimdall, the third recovery and rooting.
USUAL WARNING: Everything here is done at your own risk. None of us on the XDA Developers site are responsible in any way, after all we didn't brick it you did. Doing any of this is your decision, I am just providing a collection of information. All credit for everything here belongs to others, who worked hard to give you a way to fix your mistakes, and it usually is the owner of the device trying something without learning how first, or not following directions that got you here in the first place.
My Phone wont boot at all, is stuck at logo, or I cant do anything with it is it a paperweight?
Most likely, no, so lets get to fixing it. All download links necessary for each process will be posted in this walk through and have been tested to make sure they work.
SECTION 1: ODIN
Everything except for the pit file in odin MUST be done in the PDA slot, if not it will not work requiring you to odin again, or possibly have to use heimdall (covered later in this thread) to fix that. After you download odin, I use v1.83 but I will provide all versions I have.
First you need to decide if you want to go all the way back to DI01 (Android 2.1 "Eclair") or EB01, EC01, or a little more involved process for ED01, or ED03 (android 2.2 "Froyo") it makes all the difference with the files you need. The pit file is not necessary for most recoveries, but I have included due to a few issues that will require you to completely wipe everything but your SD card and start over. All of this is possible thanks to our talented developers. After you have odin and all the files you need on your Windows Vista or Win 7 PC, This DOES NOT work on XP, I have had a lot of responses to support this, so lets go with it won't work use Vista or Win 7. To load any file you click that button and use the windows explorer pop up to find your file select it and click open at the bottom of the window.
Start by powering off phone, the pull out battery.
Open odin and load your file in PDA and ONLY THE PDA (downloads) section, If you knew enough about this program to use the other areas you would not need this walk through, soPDA and ONLY THE PDA (downloads) section, for an, all in 1 Recovery. If you are doing a non packaged update I suggest installing the rom one first, modems and recoveries are a lot faster install.
If you are repartitioning put the pit file in the (Pit) section,verify repartition is checked.
Plug your phone into a USB slot, then hold the volume down hard key on the side of the phone. You should see a yellow triangle with a construction droid on your phones screen, and a box on the left right above options (ID:COM) is now yellow.
Now you are in download mode, verify check box next to PDA is checked and the block has the file location in it. Make sure Repartition (unless you are repartitioning and have the pit file in place), Dump, Phone EFS clear, and Bootloader, Phone Bootloader Update, and Flash Lock are NOT CHECKED in the Options section. Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time can be checked or not it doesn't really matter with the battery out. These are the default settings in the options section but double check it anyway.
You are ready to go, click start, and let odin run, it can take anywhere from just a minute to around a half hour. If anything happens like your computer shuts off, you accidentally unplug your phone from your PC, or download failed. Don't freak, just do it again from step one, sometimes it takes multiple attempts to get it. I think at six failed attempts in a row it may be time to look into heimdall, the walk through for that is below this one.
Once odin finishes and does its test you will get a green box lit up that says Pass in it just above where you saw the yellow box showing you were connected. Congratulations on a successful recovery. reinstall your battery and the back cover, reboot your phone and wait for it to boot up. The boot process can take several minutes so be patient. If the boot was successful you should be looking at a stock bloated Verizon Fascinate, that is asking you to back up your system and log into Gmail.

EC09 Gingerbread Leak CAUTION:It has not happened to me yet even after several times of flashing something custom and using this to odin back to stock with, but there are many reports of this corrupting users SD cards. This is a leak and as always USE THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!!
Here are the ONLY TWO, as far as we know guaranteed to get you fixed up, odin files, for anyone coming from CM7 or MUI MTD for the Fascinate.
YOU MUST USE THE ATLAS V2.2 PIT FILE, ONE OF THESE FILES, AND REPARTITION. IF YOU DON'T ODIN WILL FAIL TO COMPLETE THE RECOVERY.

SECTION 2: HEIMDALL
Now for the heimdall walk through, so follow along. I don't think it is possible to completely brick this phone short of actually smashing it, why take unnecessary chances.
First go to the link for heimdall. Download, unzip this and open the folder. In this folder you will find another folder labeled Drivers, open it and you will see a program called zadig.
Now put your Phone into download mode, that is remove the back cover, take out the battery and plug it into your PC with the OEM cable (the one that came with the phone when you got it), then press and hold the down volume button till a yellow triangle and construction droid , now you are in download mode.
Double click zadig and when it opens, click on options and click list all devices. Now drop the usb drop down box and you will find an option for SAMSUNG android composite ADB device, or Samsung composite usb driver, select it then click install drivers. the usual install stuff from windows about do you want to install this, yes you do. Now If the warning about publisher could not be verified, whatever, install it anyway, no it's not a virus. Your phone MUST be in download mode or zadig will not have the USB you need as an available option.
Now you need the files for this program to install and recover your phone. I was motivated to set up a zip file for download with files ready due to confusion on how to accomplish this step, you will find links below.
Now back into the heimdall file you opened earlier you will need to double click the heimdall.exe file, and click run on the windows pop up, it will show a cmd prompt type screen then disappear shortly after, it's supposed to do that.
Again in the click the application called heimdall-frontend. here is where you can go wrong so I will do this side by side with heimdall names and DI01/EB01 file names. I don't believe there are currently any other full recoveries.
To eliminate confusion on where to put your files follow the guige below.
Heimdall on this side of =Recovery file names on this side.
In Repartition:
PIT = atlas_v2.2.pit see below.
In PDA/Code:

Primary Bootloader=boot.bin
Secondary Bootloader=slb.bin
In CSC:

Database Data=dbdata.rfs
In Other:

Now that all the are files loaded into the correct spots, the necessary drivers installed, and phone in download mode, the start button will be able to be clicked, not shaded outlines like before, did you even notice that? If you followed everything in this tutorial step by step, click the START button and let heimdall run. After it finishes reboot your Verizon stock, Bing bloated, WORKING Fascinate. After this is completed successfully you will be able to use odin again if you need or want to.
Heimdall
DI01 heimdall package
EB01 heimdall package
Why did this happen?
Why was this necessary, as far as I can find out, through research, I wont even try to figure out how many times I had to odin ,and the eight, yes that's right I said 8, times I have HAD to use heimdall, because my phone would not recover through odin. Usually because like me you flashed a rom on for a different phone or, it seems to be, dbdata or another partition can not mount. This has happened to me because I didn't remove voodoo, or flashed a pre edify rom after accidently putting cwr3, which is for edify, on a non edify rom. So moral of the story is twofold, yes it is very likely it can be fixed, and remove voodoo before going to nonvoodoo, and make sure you have a version of cwr that supports both ammend and edify script if you are not sure. Don't flash a rom for a different phone on your Verizon Fascinate or you most likely WILL need heimdall.
NEVER USE A FILE, ROM, KERNEL, ANYTHING, THAT IS NOT CLEARLY FOR THE VERIZON FASCINATE.
Remember, thank the developers by clicking the thanks button on threads you find helpful, they did the work. All I did was take some time and put together all the links and processes I have read and had to learn. Some of the walk through threads are well written by the Dev's and some were hard for me to follow. Sometime I wonder if our Dev's forget that us mere mortals have no idea what they are talking about, and I pride myself on being much better than average with computers and software. That said if you have trouble working e mail and office, I think it's fair to say you would be lost. I hope this is easy to follow and always successful for you. Better yet I hope you never need this.
READ:If heimdall, or odin fail, but you can still get into download mode, do it again, and keep trying while you look for further assistance on this site. If you can't get into download mode with your phone plugged into your PC, unplug usb from PC and plug it into the wall outlet, and try to put it into download mode there. When It goes into download mode, unplug usb from adapter, plug it into PC and put it into download mode, This does work.
If this has Helped you not have a $600 dollar paperweight, consider donating to some of our Dev's working so hard to not only give you better than what big red and sammy gave you, but also a way to fix your mistakes without the need for an insurance claim. Isn't it worth a few bucks to support the developers who save you from the insurance deductable? Think about that before you complain about the devs.
SECTION 3: ROOTING METHODS
Here are two easy ways to accomplish rooting your phone.
ROOTING YOUR PHONE VOIDS YOUR WARRANTY. I NOR ANYONE ELSE WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING YOU CHOOSE TO DO. NO ONE HERE IS MAKING YOU DO ANYTHING, JUST PROVIDING INFORMATION ON WAYS TO ACCOMPLISH WHAT YOU WANT TO DO.
Super One Click method: unzip file, open file, double click ADB, it will show a quick cmd like window. Now make sure you phone has USB debugging enabled, connect to PC, don't mount USB. Click the SuperOneClick.exe icon and let it run. If it fails run it again, sometimes it does that. If anything pops up on the screen, read and answer. Unless you are using a Captivate leave the Captivate tab alone it is for getting an unlock code and you don't need that for your Fascinate. (works on all fascinate stock OS to include ED03, and EC09 GB, tested by me.)
CWR & SU Method: (DOES NOT WORK ON 2.2.1) Put superuser.zip zip file on root of SD card, odin in cwr, boot phone into recovery by holding power and volume at same time. To do this simply install battery after unpluging from PC press and hold power and volume buttons at the same time. DO NOT let the phone boot as far as the Samsung logo or you will have to odin in cwr again. Go to Install zip, choose zip, install from SD card. Find your superuser.zip file and install it. Reboot, you are rooted, install busybox, free from market if necessary. If you need odin or instruction on using it, see section 1.
GINGERBREAK Method: Gingerbreak v1.20.apk is an easy to do method, put the apk on your sd card, install from file manager, run it.
KEEPING CWR3 IN 2.2.1: To keep CWR on any ED OTA release you need to make some adjustments to a few files. Don't worry I am going to tell you which ones, and I suggest a simple method of adding .no to the end of the file. That way if you ever need to undo it, simply go back in and remove the .no and your not trying to remember what the file name and extension was. Now here are the file names for each file, you will need something like root explorer and a rooted Fascinate to do this, and you can't rename a file unless you tap the mount system as r/w not r/o, its easy here are the examples of how I did it.
/system/recovery-from-boot.p becomes /system/recovery-from-boot.p.no
/system/bin/recovery becomes /system/bin/recovery.no
/system/etc/install-recovery.sh becomes /system/etc/install-recovery.sh.no

Sorry for rotated picture.
I'm in the process of flashing the verizon firmware but it's taking forever to download. I thought I could just odin the CWM?
You better do some research before u brick ur ****...there are guides all over the place on how to get back to stock/flash roms. And last but not least all questions should be posted in the q&a section...that's what its there for...seriously use it!
Ok I flashed Verizon firmware, then did the CM Wiki steps, but for some reason my recovery is acting funky.
When I try to connect it to my mac it says it can't read what I'm trying to connect. When I connected it to windows laptop it says its a CD drive that is write protected.
I can't move any files in or out. Also when I try to flash a rom zip in recovery it doesn't work.
I'm in the process of trying to restore her MIUI backup. Here's to hoping that works.
EDIT: Supposedly the restore worked, but here is part of the error that showed when trying to flash a zip (top text): http://imgur.com/X1RQL

if you did CM Wiki, you have CWM 4.X, not 2 or 3
you need to flash back to stock like i said
I did flash back to stock. Anyways in the broken clockwork recovery I decided to try and install MIUI again and when I clicked it it took me to an orange recovery.
Then I flashed her backup and it loaded up fine. Hopefully everything is back to the way it was. I'm not sure what ever went wrong in the first place.Thanks for your help.
Dude...sounds like you just made it hard. Its actually quite simple.
Pull battery, put in download mode.
Odin the Verizon firmware with atlas.pit and repartition checked.
let it boot, then shut it back down and go back into download mode and Odin the fixed recovery for CM7. Then flash MIUI and profit.
It shouldn't take but about 15 minutes out so for the whole process

Well I wish you had been here last night. I was told to do the heimdall thing and then after all that the phone wouldn't be recognized in odin.
It was a frustrating 3 hour long process (granted ~1h was waiting for the 441MB file to download).
so I found this thread searching through the fascinate forums and i gotta say, it saved my ass. I used heimdall 1.3.1 and it wasn't working right for the flash. IDK why but when I tried 1.1.1 it worked first try to flash back to stock after brick. I used the eh03_full_odin.zip file in heimdall and it quick and easy to get back to stock =] this forum rox!!
MOD EDIT: Ronjoe requested i put the link to droidstyle's guide in here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1238070
Foreword:
After scouring these forums for a guide for getting CM7 on the Fascinate, I found myself a bit confused and lost. I set out to create a new guide using what I learned from the others, and this is what came out of that.
Anyways, let me start this thing...
*clears throat*
Oops! It seems you've gotten into a bit of trouble! You may have been trying to stick a square peg in a round hole, fly too close to the sun, or perhaps run with a plasma sword. In any case, you've bricked your phone, and you have resorted to seeking help on the interwebz. Well look no further! Uncle Ronjoe can solve all of your Fascinate-ing problems!
Let us begin...
0. Gather everything we need:
i. Obviously, your phone and its USB cable.
ii. Download the files for this guide and extract them to a convenient place on your computer.
Please take note of some important information about this guide:
You must use an OEM cable for the Fascinate.
Regardless of whether your phone is bricked, on another ROM, or doing this for the first time, the steps are the same. Just follow along with the instructions.
If anything goes wrong, you've just bricked the phone again. It's not a big deal: just start over from the beginning of the guide.
Once you have installed CWM, NEVER use the "three-finger salute" (Volume Up, Volume Down, and Power) to enter recovery. This will remove CWM and replace it with stock recovery. Instead, use ADB, terminal, or an app to reboot into recovery.
Real men index their lists at 0. Just sayin'.
1. Make sure you have the official Samsung drivers installed.
NOTE: If you have used Heimdall in the past, you need to uninstall that driver (read its readme) and reinstall the official Samsung ones. If not, don't worry about it.
2. Put your phone in download mode:
i. Turn off the phone and remove the battery.
ii. Press and hold the Volume Down button.
iii. While holding Volume Down, plug the USB cable into the phone.
iv. If you now see a yellow "Download Mode" screen, you're in download mode.
3. Extract the zip and open Odin.
4. If Odin recognizes the phone, a yellow bar will appear under the top left square, and it should say "Added!" in the message box on the bottom left. If Odin does not see the phone, go back to Step 0 and double check everything.
If you are starting with stock firmware for the phone and just want CM7, feel free to skip ahead to step 9.
5. Place Atlas_v2.2.pit in the PIT section.
6. Place the EH03 image in the PDA section (NOT PHONE!!!).
7. Click "Start" and go grab a Snickers. This will take a while.
8. When you see "PASS" in the box, the phone will shut down. Reinsert the battery.
If all you want is stock, you can stop here. But if you want CM7, then follow the rest of this guide.
9. Reboot the phone.
10. Put the zips for CM7 and Google Apps on your SD card.
11. Put the phone in download mode and open Odin again.
12. Put the fixed CWM4 in the PDA section. Hit "Start."
13. Boot the phone into recovery. It should do it automatically the first boot. If it doesn't and it boots completely to stock Android, use terminal or adb to reboot it in recovery. (DO NOT use the three-finger salute)
It should be CWM v 4.0.1.0.
14. Now in CWM, Flash CM7:
i. Wipe data, cache partition, and Dalvik cache (under Advanced)
ii. Still in CWM, go to "Install .zip from sdcard." Select the CM7 zip and install it (You may want to get another Snickers). The screen might go blank a few times. This is normal.
iii. Reboot the phone.
15. After the phone boots up to CM7 completely, reboot to recovery. (either perform step 13, or long-press the power button, select reboot, and choose recovery). At this point, if your touchscreen does not work, just reboot CM7 by pulling the battery. (DO NOT do a three-finger salute)
It should be CWM v 5.0.2.6.
16. Once again in CWM, wipe cache and Dalvik (but NOT DATA) and go to "Install .zip from sdcard." Choose the GApps zip and install it.
17. Reboot. The GApps installer should now run.
18. (Optional) Go back into CWM and make a backup, so you don't brick the phone again.
19. ???
20. PROFIT! I told you there would be profit, didn't I?
Comments, questions, or suggestions? Feel free to speak your mind! If your question isn't obvious or answered already, I might even respond! If it is, well, you'll figure it out soon enough.
suggestion: dont knock others contributions to the community...makes you look like a....well ill let you fill in the blank.
Well sir, although I appreciate your attempted contribution to the community, I must strongly disagree with your "reasons" for thinking "THE GUIDE" is in some odd way " inadequate ". Many in this community have used, and referred many new users seeking help and advice, to this Guide with great success. Also, as mentioned by above OP, don't knock the hard work and contributions by other Devs. It really does make you look like a......well you know.

Sorry, I was in the wrong frame of mind when making the guide. I didn't mean to offend. Rather, I hoped that the comment would prompt the other guidemakers to fix their mistakes.
All I can say is that droidstyles guide has been my flash bible and has never failed me. If there were any errors, why not simply PM him with suggestions? He has always seemed to appreciate and incorporate feedback.

Let's see......You've been a member since January 2011 and in a little over a year you've only managed to contribute 7 posts to these forums. You haven't been helping people, answering questions, and providing guidance on a daily basis like the members you are disparaging and insulting first with your OP "oh look these other people are morons and have made completely confusing guides so I'm making one that is so much moar better", and second after your insulting demeanor is pointed out to you, you say you weren't in the right frame of mind then go right back to insulting by pointing out that the other guide makers need to "fix their mistakes." Pretty much confirms you are a........well you know.

The Galaxy S3 being my first android (or smartphone for that matter), I had a tough time trying to figure out how to root my phone, which methods to use and which ROM to install. So I've compiled this from other threads here on xda after 2 days of heavy reading, for other noobs like me
FOLLOW THIS GUIDE TO THE LETTER. DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING, PRESS ANYTHING, CHECK ANY BOXES UNLESS TOLD TO DO SO OR YOU WILL END UP WITH A 600$ BRICK
[/COLOR]Rooting
So what is rooting? Rooting basically gives you administrator privileges on your phone, allowing you to install a host of programs that allow you to, for e.g. use firewalls, remove bloatware, change themes, install improved kernels, install custom roms with improved boot and memory performance, the list is really endless.
ROOTING VOIDS YOUR WARRANTY
However, it IS possible to reverse the process and cover your tracks, should you need to claim warranty. Read on to find out how.
Here is some good prereading to help you understand the basic flashing process and apps involved, even if it was written for the S2:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125282
Before we begin, its a good idea to note down the details under Settings -> About Phone, for future reference. Also note that under Status, if you root your phone, it changes to 'Modified'. This is, as stated before, reversible.
This guide is for the GT-I9300 Model. If your model number has a suffix (other than T) this may not work.
Step 1: Flashing CF-Root with Odin
This is an easy method to root your phone and I haven't needed to use any other. It comes with the added benefit of also installing Clockwork Mod and CWManager which we will use to make backups, flash our first ROM and cover our tracks. For those of you who want to install the newer clockworkmod touch look here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1719744
Guide compiled from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1695238
1. Install Samsung Kies and plug your phone into your PC via USB so that all the appropriate phone drivers are installed
2. Download and extract Odin3-vX.X.zip from the download link below
3. Download and extract CF-Root-SGS3-vX.X.zip ONCE (you will end up with CF-Root-SGS3-vX.X.tar
CF-Root for SGS3 v6.4:
http://download.chainfire.eu/196/CF-Root/SGS3/CF-Root-SGS3-v6.4.zip
4. Disconnect your phone from your computer, close Samsung Kies and any antivirus/firewall that may interrupt the flashing process
5. Run Odin, click PDA and navigate to your CF-Root-SGS3-vX.X.tar file
6. Power off your phone and then boot it into download mode (Hold Volume Down + Home + Power button until the screen fires up)
7. Note the warning and continue.
8. Connect the phone to your PC via USB and allow drivers to install.
9. Make sure 'Re-partition' is NOT checked in Odin
10. Click Start button and wait for android to boot
11. If you see a green 'PASS' message in Odin, everything went as intended. Done!
Step 2: Make a NANDroid Backup
This is a precautionary measure that backs up your phone's current state, should you have any problems with custom Roms. It is also a step in reversing the root process, should you need to claim warranty.
1. Power off your phone and boot into recovery mode (Hold Volume Up + Home + Power button untill the screen fires up). This starts up ClockworkMod.
2. Use Volume Up/Down to navigate and the Power button to select
3. Navigate to Backup/Restore->Backup and wait for backup to finish
4. Go back and select 'Reboot System Now'
5. Connect your phone to your computer and copy the backup folder from /sdcard/clockworkmod/backups/
6. Done! Now you can restore this backup by booting into recovery mode and hitting Restore!
Step 3: Installing your first ROM
After hunting for a good ROM that was fast and bloatware free, I ended up with the nightly build of the popular CyanogenMod 9 and I don't intend to go back!! I haven't had any problems with it whatsoever but if you prefer, you could instead install the RC version.
Note: The camera's flash feature cannot and will not work on any version of cyanogenmod until samsung releases source code for their camera.
Here's how to flash the ROM. This is also the basic method of installing any other ROM or kernel, though the ROM/kernel developer would give you more tailored instructions.
1. Download the desired version of CyanogenMod 9 from here:
http://get.cm/?device=i9300
2. Download Gapps from here. I used the 20120429 version. This may not be necessary for other roms.
http://goo.im/gapps
3. Copy both files to your phone's internal sd card
4. Boot into recovery mode
5. Select 'wipe/factory reset' and confirm
6. Select 'wipe cache partition' and confirm
7. Go to Advanced -> wipe dalvik cache and confirm.
Now we're ready to flash the ROM!
8. Select 'install zip from sd card'
9. Select 'install zip from internal sd card and navigate to the cyanogenmod file and confirm
10. When done, use the same method to install the gapps file
11. Do a wipe/factory reset again (needed for google calendar sync to work)
12. Go back and select 'Reboot system now'
13. The boot screen of the new ROM will show up. Wait about 10 seconds, remove the battery and put it back in.
14. Power on and setup your phone. Done!
More on CyanogenMod:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1714354
Step 4: Installing your modem
With CyanogenMod 9, people report that the first call made doesn't work, but every subsequent call will. If, however, you are still unable to make calls, you may have to install your phone's specific modem driver which you should have noted under Baseband version before we began (under Settings->About Phone).
1. Go here to download your specific modem and copy it to your phone's internal sd card:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1740061
In my case, it was XXLFB.
2. Boot into Recovery Mode
3. Install .zip from internal sdcard and navigate to your modem.zip file
4. Done!
Step 5: Covering your tracks
So your phone is broken and you need to claim warranty? Not with your rooted phone you don't! The S3 uses a flash counter that tells it how many times the phone has been flashed, and your rooted phone appears as 'modified' under status information. Here's how to cover your tracks.
1. Download your phone's stock firmware for your region from here and copy it to your phone
http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3
2. Download TriangleAway from the download link below or consider buying it from googleplay to support the hardworking developers, extract it and copy it to your phone:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494114
3. Install TriangleAway by opening the .apk your phone's file explorer (Mine's ES File Explorer)
4. Run TriangleAway and select 'Reset Flash Counter'. Your phone will Reboot into a special mode. Reset the flash counter here and pull the battery immediately after reboot.
5. Boot into Recovery Mode and do a factory reset, cache wipe and dalvik cache wipe.
6. Flash the stock Firmware, reboot and setup the phone without any logins.
7. Check that Settings -> About Device -> Status is not 'Modified'
8. Done!
[
More on TriangleAway:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494114
Optional: Upgrade to CM10
1. Make a Nandroid backup so you can restore if you dont like cm10/if its too buggy.
2. Download CyanogenMod 10, Gapps and your modem from here and copy it to your internal sd card:
http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager/device/i9300/developer/daniel.hillenbrand%40codeworkx.de?manifest=http%3A%2F%2Fdeveloper.clockworkmod.com%2Fdeveloper%2Fdaniel.hillenbrand%40codeworkx.de%2Fmanifest&name=codeworkx&deviceName=Samsung%20Galaxy%20S3
3. Boot into Recovery Mode and install cm10 then gapps then modem using 'install zip from sd card -> choose zip from internal sd card'
4. Do a factory reset/wipe then reboot
5. Done!

I spent an entire day researching heavily before I was comfortable doing this and since everything is compiled here, I'm glad to see it having the same effect on you guys
Triangle Away is a payed app. Offered for free by chainfire on his thread for xda members. He specifically asked not to post it elsewhere. I think you are not permitted to attach it on other thread. At least ask for permission to do it.

Question though? Rooted & installed Cyanogen 9 as above, followed all steps all rebooted and set up phone as if 1st time user. Now I've lost all apps, contacts, messages etc and nothing has synced?
How can I get all contacts back? Not sure why it hasn't synced as I've linked my Gmail account and sync is on?
Please excuse an Android noob....
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
You will lose your apps when switching to a new rom. One good way to reinstall apps is with titanium backup pro (batch reinstall).
If you had your contacts sync;d with google, syncing with your google account on your new rom should (supposedly) restore your contacts. I didnt have to do this though since i added contacts after installing cm9.
Thank you for the guide, worked first time for me
This is probably in the wrong section and I'm very sorry as I'm new to this forum and posting.
BUT! I've made a video and this tutorial to help others just fine their way around here I guess.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7eqUkueyyw&feature=youtu.be
How I Flashed My Note 4 Back to Stock! And then Root with Magisk and Having Working Mods or Some Minimal Extras!.
Just a tutorial for new people or in general to just felt like a help in need of doing this process.. and haven't seen anyone else post in exact details.
I haven't had any problems after I've done this and i will be posting a follow up video soon. .. But Yeah, I hope this helps everyone. :/
===
So, first off I'd have to say thank you for the support everyone, now let 's get down to business.
Also, please take this to a high acknowledge as this WILL! ERASE!! EVERYTHING!
Off your device, I'm not responsible for your misguided actions.
So, PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! BACKUP! YOUR PHONE!
Let's Start Shall We
==Steps====
(... I'm Using Windows 10 64Bit ...)
1st.) DRIVERS!
Make Sure that you have Installed the Drivers for your Device.
the "SM-N910P" Varient.
What I have installed is "SAMSUNG USB Drivers for Mobile Phones - v1.5.63.0 "
You can find this on the sam-mobile website, or you're own provided sources. Google.
2nd.) BACKUP!
So, we're at the stage where we need to back the phone up.
After you had finished install driver's it's important that you Restart YOUR PC.
Just in case, so that you're able to Connect your Device and View your Files!.
I Typically Connect my phone either Usb 2.0 or 3.0 doesn't matter,
Allow Permissions to Access My DATA and then I just backup my "Internal Storage" by going inside and selecting everything
and then pasting it Onto a "New Folder" On My Desktop.
I Mainly Copy over everything that's listed on my device, except the folders called
.Android and Com.Facebook.Orca Folders.
As that's just a folder just for the app to function or the app data,
which doesn't even consist of anything from your picture or videos. Just app stuffs, rendered as useless.
After wards, I Highly recommend Downloading an app called "Easy Backup & Restore"
AS this app WILL! actually backup your Contacts, SMS and call Logs and even MMS in the text per contact.
All you have to do from there is set a save location, Allow the app to think it's the stock messages app, back it up.
it saves it as an XML File and then afterwards. Your Done, and just tap the button to switch it back to normal.
!!!!You Might need to back this file on your PC ASWELL! or else you will lose your texts in general!!!!
Moving Forward....
3rd.) Triple Checking!
AS a Side "Note" no pun intended.....
THIS WILL VOID ANY WARRENTIES! you have for your device.
Unless you had bought this from Online or Secondhand, like me
From Ebay for 120$ Used. Then You can bypass this part. as this step isn't covered by your
Mobile Insurances plans like "TEP". All they would suggest is to grab another phone or if you're lucky.
Like my old phone an S6, i literally tried flashing the OTA and it wouldn't boot, but that's all they know.
EFS issues..lol.... you know what i mean.
4th.) FLASHING!
Now! that you don't have any warrenties and have backed up your phone for sure, Made sure you remeber all your logins and passwords.
I"d Highly suggest to Safely Remove your SDCARD!, so it won't get formatted by accident, I'd know this.
Afterwards, you will Likely make sure your phone is at least 30% or 50% or Recommended 100% Battery Life to Coninute the process.
Without sudden power loss failure.
Another thing make sure you go into your "Settings" and then Select "About Phone" And then Tap the
"Build Number" Several of times until it says it's activated, Afterwards go Into "Developer Options" and select
"OEM Unlocking" so you won't have that nasty FRP LOCK issue. if that's the case. if it's not there then no need to worry.
AS soon as that's Completed. You're All Set!.
5th.) Let's Flash Baby! ;D
So, for this step you need to download these Files, "Odin" STOCK Image/Tar and Custom Recovery!.
I'm using "Odin3 v3.10".
and Download The Stock Image or in this case ".Tar" file.
I'm using, "N910PVPS4DPJ1_N910PSPT4DPJ1_N910PVPS4DPJ1_HOME.tar" for the day.
and Also Team Win Recovery Project "TWRP" V3.1.1.0 .img or .tar whatever you prefer for this one.
///Note ////
What I usually do but isn't recommended is, when This file is done download from one of your own sources.
I'd Extract the same label file but with ".rar" at the end of it with Winrar
and then GO INTO THE EXTRACTED FOLDER, look for the file and then I'd erase the extension "..md5" and keep
the whole "..tar" extension instead, to "SKIP" File Intergrity, from Odin. Makes flashing easier for me, Haven't had any problems.
///////////
Anyways, you would then Start Up ODIN with ADMIN RIGHTS, then Select the Label "AP".
Afterwards Select that TAR file you just extracted.
Then, Make Sure "Auto-Reboot" Is Selected and "F. Reset Time"... Don't Check the other labels, please.
Unplug Your Phone (if it's still connected and done being backed up and what not)
Restart the Phone into DL MODE or Download Mode,
via Powering Off the Phone or Taking out the Battery, Putting it back in.
Then Pressing Vol Down, Power And Home Buttons! Simultaneously! You Shoud Feel 1 small Vibrate and then let go of those buttons.
You should then see a Continue or Restart Phone text.
You would then select Continue, And then It should Prompt to a new screen saying "Downloading..."
Now at this point you may connect your Device, Your PC should be Installing New Drivers, wait for that to be Done.
And or By Then if it's already installed, Check back with Odin to See if anything's Listed under "ID:COM"
Mine was Com 3, Highlighted Baby Blue.
After you see that, go ahead and say bye bye and select "Start" to Flash your phone back to Stock!... this should take roughly 10 Minutes.
After this is all done and your phone may have rebooted 3 or 4 Times during the process.
6th.) Going through setup!.
You're now prompted with the "Welcome Screen" HOORAY! SUCCESS!! You're Now Back to Stock! but we're not done yet.
Now go ahead and skip this setup by just speeding throught like i always do.
Enabling Wifi of course, unallow data being sent to samsung or google , yada yada, add google account, don't restore apps
I will do that later, yada yada.
Once that's done, it should reboot or not.
What I alway before I commence the next step is to make Sure that I Installed Snapchat 1st and Logged into it.
As this now has ROOT detection, and if it's preinstalled or even just freshly installed you won't be able to login to it.
Unless you went ahead of this then well,
You need to erase the ROOT and try again, you might even need to contact the support team of snapchat because it can
lock your account from this issue *(goodluck)*
This method doesn't matter, as long as your google play services is updated and the play store.
Than you can intsall Snap from the Store or from your SDCARD saved APK File.
Now you're ready to move onto the next step.
7th.) CUSTOM RECOVERY!
Flashing Custom Recovery.
Okay so, after you have successfully logged into Snap, you may now, REBOOT your phone back into "DL MODE" again
So, This Time we're now going to flash your custom recovery.
I've always been using "TWRP v3.1.1.0"
So, what we do next is Open Odin back up again, or if you had it Open already Click the Reset Button,
SELECT the "AP" button again BUT THIS TIME!
Select the TWRP File as I mentioned earlier.
After that's been done, go ahead and Click Start.
Once that's done it should automatically BOOT into Recovery but if not, Go Ahead and as soon as it Reboots.
go ahead and holding the VOL UP HOME AND POWER Simultanesly
Until you feel the 1st Vibrate and then 2nd Vibrate with a Visual of Saying REBOOTING INTO RECOVERY.
Then You've successfully made it into "TWRP".
( Same sequence like DL MODE except, going ahead and holding the VOL UP HOME AND POWER Simultanesly )
Either by Powering Off UI or Battery Pull Method or Auto Reboot from ODIN.. anyways
At this point I inserted my SDCARD back into my phone because it has the necesarry files for this partm you should do the same.
8th.) ROOTING PROCESS!
Now onto the ROOT.
From Here this Is OPTIONAL...
What I do tho is... I Pop in my 16GB SDCARD, size doesn't matter as in space.
Now for this step you need to download another 3 files
As long as you have these 3 Files you're good to go,"Magisk v14.0", "Magisk Manager APK", and "UN7 Modset",
Slap those files onto your SD CARD or Internal Storage or OTG even, the choice is yours.
~~~~~~~~~~~~ Actual ROOT Process~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'd then reboot My phone into TWRP and then
Allow Flashing in TWRP, then Selecting the "INSTALL" button, and Selecting MY SDCARD as the Storage Location.
I'd then Start by Selecting The, Magisk v14.0 and Flashing that file first, once that's completed go ahead and select.
"Reboot Back To System" and then Selecting "DO Not Install" so you wouldn't have to install TWRP to the System Partition.
Afterwards, it should Reboot, and then Vibrate once, and then Reboot again like a soft reboot,
and then the phone will be back to normal.
( optional battery pull, then holding power button )
I'd then go into the app called "My Files" and then I'd Go into my 16GB SDCARD and Installing the Magisk Manager APK, that's only
if it's not already insatlled... if it isn't do that and if it is.
Then I'd go into the APP to see if it's a Success with installation. Once It is. I'd then Press the tab and Select Magisk hide
then selecting the Snapchat app.
=====================================================================
Afterwards I'd then Reboot back into Recovery.
Flash the "UN7 Modset" for the, Beast mode kernal r61 ZL PJ1 Based by Freeza and then V4A 2.5.0.5 and then the Camera UHQ+ Tweak.
Everything else is up to you for the Boot Animation Changes, and or Dolby Atmos even tho I'm not sure how V4A and dobly will interefere.
Once you have selected those few tweaks, go ahead and let them flash and once that's done, go ahead and let it reboot....
======================================================
AS soon as the phones Back to normal, Check the V4A app to see if it's successfull, and if it is then you have Successfully.
ROOTed your device With a V4A Audio Mod, Camera Tweak and even a Custom Kernel.
LAST STEP!
Is to now go back into TWRP and Flash Magisk, one more time, and then Reboot The Phone Back to Normal.
Have fun with your customizations.
I take no credit for the following flash files, just a tutorial to install all of the above properly.
I hope this helped out you alot today, and as always take care and godbless.
Profit????.....
As a side note....
IF YOU HAVE THE MMC READ FAIL MESSAGE!!!
Which consists of Random Reboots, Heating Issues when theirs hardly no apps on, or even Lag or Glitchyness.
The Temp FiX that I've been using everyday and haven't had these issues since was downloading this app
WakeLock Manager and setting to PARTIAL LOCK! on Level 4.
Anything Higher than 3.10+ will work.
And Making sur that your selecting AUTO REBOOT AND F RESET TIME THATS IT>>>> ONLY USING AP METHOD FOR TAR.
