I had a similar issue using Google Books and I had to call their 1800 number and I got them to take out the other devices on the account and I was able to use it again......Let me see if I can find the number
[EDIT]
Ok there's two numbers you can call.... 650-623-4000 or 866-246-6453
I got those numbers from this site btw http://www.contacthelp.com/directory/Internet/Web+Sites/Google?ListingID=142
I haven't had any issues with mine, I've never had to even unregister a device yet and I have 3 devices using the same main account. :-/ I always restore the app+data from TiBu tho

I haven't had an issue yet and I'm wiping and flashing left and right here. I just go into the settings from my laptop and remove some devices then I'm good to go.

Well watch out. I have read that they are doing these with 60 days. Its depressing

So does restoring app+data when doing a Titanium backup restore count as another authorization? I don't always restore Google Music with Titanium when I flash a new ROM. I'm sitting at 7 authorizations right now so I'm scared to do any testing. In reality, I just have my Evo and my home PC tied to my G-Music account.

I was able to talk to someone about my account. I just went to
http://support.google.com/googleplay/bin/request.py?hl=en&policy=music&contact_type=contact_policy
and logged my info. Got a call with about 2 seconds and they are escalating the issue to get my account cleared of authorizations. They said they would email a followup in 1-2 business days. The guy I talked to on the phone was extremely helpful and said that he thinks that they're looking at changing the method of how they authenticate a device. So hopefully he's not just telling me what I want to hear. We'll see.
wierd... i noticed on my google account it has 2 devices but only those 2. i have never had to remove any before and i flash roms religiously. basically a weekly sometimes daily basis haha and i have been rooted and flashing since january 2011
EDIT: and to clarify those same 2 have been there since i rooted. no others were ever added to it.
It's fixed now. I can deauthorize again.
I know they fixed mine too. I called them yesterday and said I'm a developer and do roms. I know I'm not but I hope that helped

if you log into gmail via the web interface, there's a link at the bottom of the page that says
"last account activity ..." [ details ]
if you click on that, you can see all the IPs that has logged into your account. see if all those are your IPs. if not, there's nothing much you can do, but at least you know for sure if you got hacked, or someone you know is playing with your phone.
I recommend using Google's 2-step login system & authenticator app from now on. Its more secure then a password alone.

This made me laugh.
As for that 2 step verification deal, I find it to be too secure. Every time you switch roms you need to make a new verification code, and sometimes you won't be near an authorized device to do this. PITA if you ask me. Just my 2 cents.
Isn't that what the backups are for? And i mean that in many ways... titanium backup, the google backup codes, backup email, send-to-text backup... etc.
i dont need a signature

Not sure how many of you have seen this on XDA today, but Google has started limiting you to four device deathorizations per year for Google Music. Normally, not such a big deal, but when you flash a ROM twice a week and have to authorize your phone that often, you will be unable to activate Google music on new ROMs until next year.
Here's the main thread in the Gnex forums: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?p=26145534
And here's a petition they started about halfway through the thread: http://www.change.org/petitions/goog...rization-limit
I posted this in the Rezound forums, too. Just trying to get everyone aware of this. I don't want to switch to Amazon MP3.
Just signed the petition.

Can you explain this deauthorization? I flash quite a bit but I don't think I've ever run into that.
As a sidenote, even though I'm still not sure what this limitation is, I wouldn't be too surprised if they'd reset it for you if you ask... kinda like how if you activate a Windows license too many times you have to call them up and say "Yes, it's always been on the same computer" and they'll let you activate. It may just require contacting Google every so often to get a reset (now that Google's Play services actually have customer service)
Each new rom you flash and install/run google music will count as a different DEVICE on your authorized device list.
Aka 10 rom flashes and google music installs = 10 different devices on your account.
They add up rather quickly when you're a flashaholic like me lol
Sent from my Droid Incredible using the XDA app.
Google temporarily suspends its deactivation practice in search of a better solution:

Hmmmm. I'm sure you flash more than I do but I know I've flashed much more than 10 times and I've never seen that. Perhaps Titanium Backup plays a part?
Either way, it seems the point is moot now according to slimsnoop's new link... Isn't it great when a company listens to the consumer

Sorry about that. Google did remove the limit, though, so not much use in fixing it now.
I got my Nexus 4 today and I love it. I have a couple of concerns though - virus wise.
On my previous phone, which was an Android, I was sent a link with some dodgy stuff on. I cleared my history and thought nothing of it. Because I was getting a new phone, I emailed myself all my contacts as a vCard. When my Nexus 4 arrived, I logged into that using the email/Google Play account that was linked to my old phone, but didn't download the vCard. I then got a bit concerned about whether the dodgy site on the previous phone could have infected my email account, so I deleted all my emails from that account, did a factory reset on my old phone so my Google account wasn't linked to that phone, then did a factory reset on my Nexus 4 and started afresh.
From that 'procedure', are both my Nexus 4 and email/Google Play account safe/clean etc.?
Also, my brother has a Nexus 7. I wanted to compare the screens so had them next to each other, my Nexus 4 and his 7. I didn't touch them back to back, though I did test out NFC transfer using my my Mum's S3 and my brothers Nexus 7, just sending pics across.
I then stumbled upon his history, and him being a teenager had been on some pretty wild sites, if you catch my drift. I don't know if they were safe, but worse case scenario, could anything bad have transferred to my Mum's phone via NFC? Or could anything have been sent to mine when they were next to each other having their screens compared? I'm not sure how NFC works, you see.
Basically, is my Nexus 4 clean or viruses or anything like that, and is my Mum's?
Many thanks.

I've ran a virus scan using avast! and everything has come back clean, but from what I've asked is there ANY way at all my Nexus 4 could be infected, or not? How about my email account being infected? Could anything have transferred by NFC?

No. and assuming you didn't click the link with dodgy stuff, it wouldn't have been infected to begin with.

Android uses the Linux kernel which is very hard to get viruses. Since you did a virus scan amend it came back fine, I don't think you have any.
About the sites if your worried if any transferred using NFC just erase the the browsing history.
Well I clicked the link on the original phone before I realised what it was. Hence me wondering whether my email account that was linked to the phone could be infected with anything. And am just bothered by what can be transferred by NFC, i.e. what was on my bro's device.
So, you all think my Nexus 4 is clean, no need for a new Google account/factory reset or anything?
You're fine. Lol.
If you didn't put in your email information there is no way for your email to be "infected".

Hi,
Been trying to fix this issue for a week now. When my gf calls, her name doesn't come up. Only displays her number. My contacts are on my gmail account. All other contacts i have show up. She has an iphone and her name showed up on my old s5. Her phone is already set to display caller ID and so is mine. I spend like a few hours aday trying to troubleshoot this.. No luck whatsowever. Weird thing is, sometimes when she calls, her number appears with a ;oli=62 behind it. Example: 714-555-5555;oli=62. I googled oli (originating line information) but it makes no sense to me..
Things i've tried already:
1) resync gmail contacts
2) deleted her contact on gmail/phone/etc
3) readded her contact to phone internal storage and also gmail again
4) tried in safe mode to see if a application is blocking it
5) rebooted phone of course
6) re-adding her contact info with her data deleted from gmail
7) called verizon support
8) and last but not least.. reset/restored original s8 to factory
HELP.. i was gonna try to exchange the phone for another s8 but i really don't think that might be the issue.. i tried researching IPHONE issues with caller ID not showing up but all her settings seems correct.
Thanks in advance.
That's a LOT of troubleshooting on your end and quite frankly I'm surprised you're still having this issue after all of that. I'm kind of bewildered on what could even be the cause of this problem.
So let me get this straight, if you go to contacts on your phone and add someone else's number and details it works normally but even if you manually input her details you still have issues with caller ID?
Only 2 things I can possibly think of
1. Network provider issue
2. I feel like this is unlikely but maybe a sofware bug? Maybe there is a bug in the code that throws some sort of exception or error when your partners specific number is saved.
I couldn't find a definitive answer for this anywhere, its definitely a head scratcher. You don't unknowingly have any other apps syncing contacts do you?
EDIT: Could you get your hands on another S8 to troubleshoot? If adding the number works normally on another S8 then you're Gucci, you know the problem is specific to your device. If not, my two points still stand or I'd be looking at the iPhone as the culprit.
No other apps. That's what I thought it might be too. That's why I did a system restore. And before I did any updates. I had her call me to test it. Still same. Oddest issue ever. I am actually pretty decent at tech stuff but this puzzles me. Lol.
Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
That's really strange, what about in regards to my edit? Do you have another S8 you can test?
I only have one s8. And yes. No matter if I add her number to phone sim or gmail from the phone it doesn't work. I also tried deleted her contact from gmail contacts and adding it again. No luck. Adding a new contact works from someone else works.
Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
When in doubt, just blame the iPhone.
Haha, all joke aside I'm all outta ideas mate. I consider myself pretty savvy as well but it looks like you've covered all the bases so far which leaves me at a loss. You sure you don't have any family or friends with an S8 that your gf could call to test? That would be the best way to narrow it down even further at this point and the next logical step IMO.
Yeah. I've been trying to tell her to call everyone in her phone book to see if her name pops up. Lol. She only tried few people.

OK. I found a workaround to get the name to display. Log into your Google account on a computer and manually add that odd number. Example : 555-555-5555;oli=62. I added that along with the regular number without the oli=62 just incase they send out a fix for it. And that's it. The name showed up for me. Let me know if it works for u.

So today I found out that the latest version of Swipe for Facebook (I think, pretty sure) created major problems. Pixel launcher would constantly crash, phone became semi useless cause of that. Then a couple reboots later, screen would go black after unlocking pass code. So I had to factory reset it. I reinstalled swipe and bam Pixel launcher crashed. So I used Google assistant to open Google play store and Uninstalled the app. So far no issue. My phone is a Google version and unlocked bootloader.

It is that simple. Plus it smells more like a problem that the developer of the app needs to resolve, rather then being beware for the "pixel".
So report it to the developer instead of just ranting here, I think that might be a lot more productive. Or don't use it. Either way, not a "Pixel" issue....

I'm not saying it wasn't a problem with the app. What I am saying is that it is not a run of the mill app crashing, where you just uninstall and everything is good. Having someone or now two people mention it took a factory reset to fix things after installing the app is useful. Then people can decide to take a chance or wait.
Ignore them, uninstalling swipe made my pixel great again so we know it's not fake

This was horrible for me. For some reason even though my phone was setup 48 hours prior cloud backup did not back up my texts. So because of **** testing on a Play Store app I lost all my messages. So true. It's amazing to me that with all of Facebook's resources and with how much they rely on mobile users, that their mobile app is still so f***ing terrible. I was having some lag/stuttering issues on my LG V30 and after uninstalling facebook and LG's built in facebook installer app, my phone started running buttery smooth and hasn't hiccuped since. Now I just check facebook occasionally when I'm in front of my computer.
Uninstalling it from your phone immediately shows you how little you need that crap feed in your life.
Facebook is and always will be coded like garbage.
