Could you explain how to load the flash.dio file onto the magician?
people try it out and make it work.I trying to keep posting reply to keep it on top of the recent activity so that more & more people . see it and try it out and atleast we can use it as wm5 pda in our free time . and bluetooth and radio will also work.let's hope so . i cannot afford to spend another around $800 dollars(inr 32-35000) for a while and there will be lot more people like me there are hordes of people who are still with magician .otherwise wm2003 se provides everything . persistent storage is useful, push mail is overhyped I wonder if somebody would miss anything if they direct email client to check email on their own on their pop3 account every minutes . I do it with flexmail 2007 trial and phone alarm trial cuts in automatic 3 minutes

C'Mon people once the most and still most beautiful PDA phone because the prophet and hermes( with lot of buzz because of umts,hsdpa, ) still continue on the same design lines. Im in, been trying to find a way to load the rom on the magician, no luck till now. I´ve seen acer uses flash.dio file but the magician doesnt. Also looked at the file and compared it with the nk.nbf and and nk.nb1 file in hexedit, cant seem to find a way to boot the magician with this rom. Hope u guys having better luck.
Did anyone ever get this file and if yes can they upload it to the FTP here?

This file was supposed to have an executable for transfering flash.dio
There are enough differences in this hardware (the e850) that it doesn't seem likely to work? If anyone actually got it going can they post pictures.
MiniSD - so I'm guessing the JAM SD will not work, (different driver)
Xscale - cpu is running slower, either lower bus or cpu multiplier, (overclocking might fix that)
Colors - since the LCD can do 262K this might actually work!

Any idea how to change the dialer skin for HTC Gene (P3400). Have read a lot of threads on changing dialer skins but they all seem to be for other devices. Desperataley searching for a nice (possibly blue coloured) dialer skin for my P3400. Any help would be highly appreciated.

However, before installing this cab, I want to confirm whether this skin supports Smart Dial feature. I am asking this because in many threads I read, it was mention that certain skins do not support Smart Dial or that one has to disable Smart Dial before installing that skin.

The main difference is about messages , which they have added the smart messaging system , in which you open a sms from a particular person ( a new one ) .. You will see it in a single page titled conversation from (that particular person ) ;;;;;;; See attachement

Sorry about your (our) luck. Proxy does not work.
Yah! Just tested the proxy settings. I can input the proxy address and save it but unable to enable it. Even thou I checked the "Enable Proxy" then save.
The Proxy module will close but when I checked again the "Enable Proxy" is not enabled again.

As per flash thread. If the acceleration is handled by archos firmware why the heck can archos not include the tweaks now and include flash when certified.
Keeps archos in good books with adobe and we get acceleration.
Seems like an ideal solution seeing as certification to include flash is taking months

Working great on A70 but I think one of my favorite apps stop working. The movie app with rotten tomatoes wont play any of the preview videos.

I should mention I have an A101 and a 70it 8G.
I had rolled back to 2.1.71 because of wifi issues on both devices associated with 2.2.03 and .04, I had hoped the rollback would also resolve some USB issues, no joy there.
well.. this is the question.. my resolution is 480x234. somebody know how to change it for a 800x400 res? i seen many videos of youtube with this resolution and compared with my 480x234 is a BIG difference in quality...i think , and im sure its possible.. ,
i seen in the internet a page (search in google for wincepatch) , the patch on this page changes the resolution driver for a 800x480 driver on ANY wince 5/6 device , the main problem with the patch is for the $ , the patch is not for free.....
the main "video driver" , calls a value on a registry key ([HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\GDI\Drivers]) ,there is a key called "maindisp" , here , it calls a ".dll" file , THIS dll file tells the resolution and other things... the question is , how i build a ddi.dll file with 800x480 resolution? , sory for the bad english , im argentinian.. good bye !

i think its possible to upload mi ddi.dll with the 480x234 resolution, with yours help, modify it with a hex editor to a 800x480 resolution.. what do you think?

The screen on your phone can only display 480*234 because the screen itself only has the hardware capabilities to display that resolution (or possibly lower). It's like taking an old CRT tube tv, and then trying to play a 1080p video on it. The TV simply does not have the hardware technology to display the 1920x1080 picture, but rather can only display a resolution of 640x480. I believe it is that same case for your phone, your simply can't make the screen hardware display something it is incapable of. Again though I may be incorrect and anyone with more knowledge on this is subject would be appreciated to comment.

Finding the way to change resolution in core would allow to set a better solution (perhaps 400 or so pixels) and could solve both problems (display not sync or looking bad in my case).
According to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=379728 there's a way to change the resolution. Perhaps there's a way in win core too.

Windows CE based devices are designed to support only a single video mode. For example, the Medion PNA I own has a display which is 480 pixel wide and 272 pixels high. Whatever the size, this is the physical resolution of the device. It is generally determined by the actual number of individual pixels elements that make up the display hardware and video chip that control the display. YOU CAN'T CHANGE THIS PER SOFTWARE!
BTW: Why not simply try out Nyditot Virtual Display ("NVD") you pointed to, which is trial ware, means you can testwisely install and use it for 7 days? Be aware, not all software applications written for the various Windows CE platforms are “resolution aware”. That is, they assume a standard resolution (e.g. 240x320 on Pocket PC) and therefore do not alter their layout based on NVD’s virtual width and height settings. NVD can't control the behavior of these applications! Even the Windows CE desktop (explorer) can't be changed with NVD.

now , i take apart the resolution-change proble, and go for the new problem jaja, im stucked in sysupdater .. the problem? the touch screen doesn't work , and i can't press any button on this window...i'm thinking the unique solution is weld the usb port for the wince board , exactly as petrutms explained... , with that port attach a keyboard and w/ the tab key move between fields...
First of all you must say which device you have.
If your device has a 320x240 display, or a 400x320 or a 600x400, etc., you'll not be able to change it to a bigger size. You're limited by drivers, yes, but also by phisycal parameters. In other words, if you are capable to build a device using the screen of the HD2 and putting it in a Herald, and get it to work, probably you'll be capable to change or create the drivers.
On the other side, I've been using some 400x320 apps into my 320x240 display, and this means some parts of the app image (when it runs and does not crash because of display resolution) remain "out" of the screen and I can't scroll them. If this is what you mean when writing about those drivers...
And by opposite, apps made for smaller screens appear as a small part rendered in a black screen. Then, probably they can be stretched using some sort of apps or drivers, but this means you'll see blurred images, as they are zoomed like when you're displaying images 200% in your photoshop.
there is a program to change the resoloution.

The installation was successfully done and I can use wifi ,3G, bluetooth, working with microsoft office tools , ...
The device respond quickly and it's a pleasure to use it with this OS.
I've only one problem. The metro interface does not work and I can't watch
video because the resolution is too low.
I tried to install many modded drivers for GMA950 which allows to use 1024*768 definition but after installation, This resolution doesn't appears on the list T_T

I saw on vimeo a video that show an ASUS R2E with a fully working metro interface, so i know that it's possible.
I guess that I do something wrong but I don't know what and I can't find a 'How to' on the web.
I tried to install this package : Internal_VGA_Intel_32bit_8.15.10.1912
--> MAX resolution : 1024*600
Sherry 1.3
--> MAX resolution 840*640
But specify that the screen is 1024*768 capable ???
