hi
i have a 2weeks n7000 , it was working fine , but something happen to my contacts app , it start crashing when trying to add contact or in a random way when i try to see contact.
so i flashed another rom , and then phone started crashing on phone app.
when i make a call , insted of passing to dialer and show you the end/speaker/mute etc , it stay on black screen . the call still on and i can speak , but i cant go to the dialer or back to menu , after some time it goes back to main screen , and on the top notifacation bar i see the call , if i go from there to the dialer , i can access it , but everithing like very slow. , i press speaker, it takes 10-15 secs to speaker to start. after some time i get error msg , phone have crashed.
i have tried to flash 5 different roms (stock from samfirm) and also tried full wipe and fectory reset , also formated phone memory.
this problem happen right after fresh rom is installed.
any ideas ?

I got the following very weird problem..
when i yesterday went out of a club i noticed that my phone was off even if my battery was abt 60 percent..(running android) well i wanted to turn it on agian - nothing.. battery in / out , on again...
but the little problem was that in Winmob Sense couldnt get activated anymore (homesettings etc.) it starts loading sense but the screen stays blanc... a soft reset didnt solve the problem, even 10 didnt..
when i then booted android again .. the boot took about 15 minutes EVERY time.. instead of the usual 1 minute..
i formatted SD card now.. still all the same...
what should i do?? Please help!!!!
is a hardreset the only thing that could help? and if... do i have to b aware of anything? i mean i changed my radio etc.? does is affect the hardreset?
Try rebooting your phone without the sd card in it, and if Sense doesn't load up after a couple minutes, but still says 'Launching HTC Sense' up top of the screen, try pressing your start button, and then exiting your start menu by pressing the 'X' button at the top right of your screen. I have installed apps/done modifications to Sense that caused Sense to behave like that before, and sometimes this helps. If that still doesn't help Sense to load, you may have to do a hard reset, but I seriously doubt it had anything to do with running Android.
whether i do a HR or installing a new rom makes no difference right?
well the thing is.. i didnt install any apps in the last few month u know..?

Ive got android 2.2 (updated from telco) and i've noticed occasionaly the phone dialer will crash.
Someones it will not answer a call when I try slide my finger over answer (or hangup if i want to not answer).
Also after a call it doesnt always want to hang up when i press the hang up button, and the call stays connected.
The above problems are quite random but somewhat anoying. Just wondering if anyone else has the same problems ? And does anyone know of any other dialer software I should try using ?

I am having the same random problem. Randomly sms apps (the built in one and, i.e., handcent, stop working. Any suggestion or tip?
Factory reset would be my first step .

Uf! I do not have such severe problems as justin911 (OP).
But I do get dialer crashes and after that the Dialer app is draining my battery thru partial wake.
Once it crashed when I was in contacts and searching for somebody, other times I got called by someone and after 2-3 sec of talk time my phone automatically hung up the call (I called him back 5 times, same thing happened, then I just rebooted the phone and it worked).
For me to get the dialer back and working normally I have to reboot the phone.
This problem occurs randomly and it started doing this in v2.2.1 (Doc's XWJS3+speedmod kernel), but thankfully up until now it only occured 3 times.

I finally found a solution to phone dialer crashes (I did not have a dialer crash for over a week now).
According to marcedli and his post the solution is the "Memo.apk" file that needs to be in "/system/app" (everyone should have it, because it is Samsungs own app).
I did not have it because I flashed my own rom from Doc's Kitchen and I do not use it, but apperantly it is needed by the phone app.
I copied "Memo.apk" into "/system/app" folder, rebooted my phone and everything works now and I never had a dialer crash that it would then force my phone to stay awake.
If anyone uses the XWJS5 FW, here is the link to CWM updatable version for "Memo.apk" (or just extract the file and copy it using Root Explorer):

It is also possible that in your telco's ROM, "Memo.apk" file (it is "Memo" app in the app drawer) is not included, if it is included it is also possible that some other file was not included into the ROM that is needed by the dialer app or some telco's app is messing with the dialer app, not sure.
The solution would be that you flash Darky's ROM or use Doc's ROM Kitchen.
I hope I helped you or at least guided you on a right track!
After two weeks I got the partial wake of Dialer again.
It woke up my phone for 3h and drained my battery.
There is obviously something else going on for these Dialer crashes.
i have the same prob.
i just do a factory reset and dialer crash prob disappear.
I'm having similar problems.
Sometimes, my phone just won't call anyone. When I call a number, there's just a long almost silent noise - and then it just hangs up without any error message. Almost seems like it doesn't get a "line free" signal.
Reboot fixes it, but it annoys the hell out of me.

And this time I'm for 100% sure how to fix the partial wake usage on "Dialer"!
"Phone/Dialer" drains your battery when you're making a phone call thru the dialer/call log/favorites and then when you finish your call you just push the "power" button to end the call and/or lock & turn off display (and you do NOT wait for the phone app to go back to home screen or you do NOT press the "back" button). The phone app is now still working in the background thinking you're still on the phone and it's waking your phone up.
To "fix" this when ending a call thru Phone/Dialer always press the "back" button or make sure that you're in your "home screen" and not in the phone app (dialer/call log/favorites).
And I don't know if the Phone/Dialer is still running if you press the "home" button instead of the "back" button.
And I don't know if "Memo.apk" fix helped.
And I'm sorry, but I don't know any other solutions for your Phone/Dialer problems.
i had this problems on 2.2 which made me go for a change....now i just flashed 2.3.3 ill test it out for the week hoping to get rid of that problem
Hi guys, this is my first post here and I hope someone can help me please!!
I got my phone 5 weeks no problem till last night,
basically when I am in screen lock state and then go unlock, I keep getting this anoying WHITE screen which on the top in blue band say "wiedges setting" I have to press the return button (on the right ) to get out of that screen , this happen everytime I go lock position, also notice even DURING my call after about 5-6 minutes through the call this white screen appears and it ALWAYS goes away by pressing return button.
so please tell me how to get ride of this?
if not how to reset without losing my apps and data? if I do factory reset is my apps will stay in andriod market, or do they also get deleted?
my phone IS NOT rooted phone.
what can I do, this is really killing me, as its everytimes into my face.

QUESTION : you phone is running on which ROM ? check ABOUT PHONE you have all informations about your phone
If you don't want to change the phone yourself then take it back and they will replace it for you , mind it will take at least 3 weeks to get it back
But if you have little flashing know how , you can flash a 1 file rom which you will not lost any data or apps , and then if you want to make it little faster flash Chainfire's cf-root kernel and convert the files to EXT4 ( cf-root is a stock kernel with root access and cwm only)
It sound to me more like an app that is running in the background that is not properly configured. Have you downloaded any new applications in the last couple of days ? Try uninstalling them to see if you get rid of the problem.
Today my camera stopped working. It shows a message after a few seconds that says camera isn't responding to you want to stop or wait. have done soft re set , uninstalled flashlight app , talked with samsung and downloaded smart tutor , all to no avail . I am a little afraid to do a factory re set , do you think it's possible that there is a virus on my phone

Hello. i have the s7 edge and it has a problem. ive rooted the phone and after doing so nothing happened (in a good way, i got root) about a week and a half later, the playstore wasn't opening (playstore kept on crashing no matter what i did), so i decided to restart my device. after doing so my phone was stuck on the t-mobile screen (boot loop) and i tried everything (inc wiped cache from recovery) but in the end i went into recovery and had to reset my entire device. today im haveing the same thing, apps crashing, and not just 1 app, its like google play, amazon, etc... from what i see, its the apps that came with the phone. (sometimes my phone app doesnt work(the one u use to call people with), like when someone calls me it crashes and i have to call them back manually). plz help me. if you would like a video on whats going on please ask for it. note im trying to back up my phone useing titanium backup but when i hit backup (the check at the top right) the app shows loading 1/3xx and then eaither opens another app (like weather) or takes me back to my home screen and when i open it --->back up <--- (no pun intended), its like nothing ever happened exept without a back up. fyi (for your information) dont tell me to reinstall it or something like that cause i cant. GOOGLE PLAY CRASHES AND I CANT OPEN IT!!! Thanks for all your help. and please help me asap cause i have places to go to, and... (GULP) school... i think we all know where im getting at.
