Change your CSC Code to German and upgrade via KIES; this will also factory reset your phone.
so on phone :
*#272*IMEI# then change the CSC to DBT.
Phone will reset.
Change language to English (bottom right icon)
follow prompts to setup
Connect to KIES and the phone will update to ICS.
When your finished, you change the CSC code back to whatever you had before
Omg does this really work? Anyone tested it, left my note at a friend's place, if this works I will bang on his door and get my phone back to do it, some one please test it and report.
will let you know in about 15 mins. Just finishing up first update shortly
This works if you have a Multi CSC installed. The only thing is that your phone will be wiped without warning!!
Having a german csc isn't enough, you need to be on a dbt GB firmware too.

OK I can confirm the update has worked perfectly. I was previously on a UK GB 2.3.6 ROM which had a multi-CSC (just look on forums for one), now have 4.0.3 ROM.

Wow thanks for testing it out, looks like my friend is gonna get a rude awakening in a couple minutes, thanks once again for testing, hope everyone enjoys the forever waited ICS on their notes, hopefully the stock ics keyboard isn't puke like gb's stock keyboard.
Ps. Is there a root out for the ICS already?
how can i change the CSC Code and where i have no idea guys

do *#06# to get your IMEI. Make a note of it.
then do *#272*IMEI#
this where you can select a different CSC, but only if your current ROM supports multiple CSC's. There will be a list of them if it does. Watch though, any changes you make here will factory reset your phone as the new Country.

By wipe your phone, do you mean all internal storage or just factory reset the phone, leaving sd untouched?

Yep, just nuked my Note to blank slate. plus, no CBT available.
Can someone point in the right direction of how to load a firmware that does include the CBT CSC?
My CSC was TTT, anyone know what that means?
If not available, how can I make a mixed firmware CSC with both TTT (my original CSC) + CBT (German based CSC needed for Keis upgrade)?
thanks!

Found this link with Country CSC's.
No DBT in the list
I am using Note in india. With this method my note does not show option for DBT, though it gives me following codes:
TML , SLK, NPL, MDV, INU, INS, ETR.
Any catch ?

in my case the SD was left untouched, both internal and external.
I only get XEU show up in a single box... does that mean no changing for me? :-(
they are mostly obvious but I don't know what XEU is...
BTC (btcellnet?), CPW (Carphone warehouse) , H3G (3), O2I (02), O2U(02), ORA(Orange), OXA*, TMU(tmobile), TSC (tesco), VIR (virgin), VOD(vodafone), XEU
hmm
i only get sales code: 'XEN', nothing more, so i guess i'll have to wait
You need a gb Rom with multi-csc. here's a guide to help you with that.
www.theandroidsoul.com/update-galaxy-note-to-xxlc1-latest-gingerbread-android-2-3-6-firmware/
for other people asking about what is wiped during csc changes, its just the rom. internal and external cards are unaffected.

Hi to all,
I'd like to revert my rom to an official one (froyo 2.2.1) and let kies update to the latest revision.
I founded tutorials on how to flash the rom, I now need the correct official rom for my GT I9000 so kies will recognize it and permit updates.
the product code is:
GT-I9000HKDEUR
actual firmware is:
PDA : I9000RSJP5
PHONE : I9000XJPP
CSC : I9000ITVJP3
I do not remember the original firmware letter codes so I need to reconstruct it; as I can see here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14273114&postcount=2
as I can see there I think I can flash with:
XWJSD/XXJPY/OXXJS6/Sbl
XWJS8/XXJPY/OXXJS5
XWJS5/XXJPY/OXXJS4
Can somebody point me to the correct one?

I mean since you want to downgrade to your original firmware you have to tell us in which country you live in you know there are different firmwares for different regions. there is no 'europe' version as such.

No, unfortunately everyone above is mistaken. Your phone is Greek, (EUR is Greece, not Europe, as you might think). And more bad news for you, there is no 2.2.1 firmware for Greece, Samsung never released it. They are waiting for 2.3.3 any day now, however. The official firmware for your phone is XWJPH, 2.2. I will post a link when I get to my pc...

EDIT: Here you are... http://www.multiupload.com/AS2RWUE64Z. Wipe your phone with a factory reset, then flash this on top with Odin without repartition. You will then have the official version for your phone.
I'm not sure why you would want to do that, however...
what is the latest ROM version for SGS?

as far as i understood he just wants to get gingerbread via kies. and if he is in italy, the product code doesnt matter at all, only thing that matters is his previous firmware. and with js8 he should get an offer from kies for gingerbread as it is officially available for italy. http://asf-mobiles.com/2011/06/samsung-releases-android-gingerbread-italy-for-galaxy-s/
please correct me if im wrong i actually never used kies.

Yes, unfortunately I do have to correct you, sorry, you are wrong
Kies will not recognise the JS8 firmware because the italian rom will not match his greek product code. If he puts JS8 on, Kies will just tell him that "This firmware cannot be updated".
The only solution, if the OP's problem is staying under warranty and using Kies, is to flash the firmware that corresponds to his product code, which is the one I provided above.
Anything else will involve messing with the /efs folder to completely change the product code, but there is no point in doing that, as the IMEI of the phone will still betray its origins.
Actually I personally don't see the point in going back to an old Froyo build just to be able to upgrade via Kies, when Odin will give you the exact same result, and you can actually flash a newer and better ROM, which has not been given to Greece by Samsung, for whatever reason.
But in order to properly use Kies to officially upgrade, my previous post stands
-----
Of course, if you don't care about where the phone came from and all that warranty stuff and you only want to get it to upgrade via Kies, you can always change the sales code to ITV, by pressing phone and typing *#272*IMEI# (where IMEI is your phone's IMEI number, found by typing *#06#, or on the phone itself (under the battery)). Then choose ITV, and press Install. The phone will reset to factory defaults, you will lose your apps, but then you will be able to upgrade to the latest Italian Gingerbread with Kies, which for you will be RSJV3.

Argh!!!!!
as Tyxerakias said the XWJS8 will not result updatable with kies.
the rom suggested by Tyxerakias, result in kies as the latest for the phone, but was unusable.
lot of process (like "android.process.acore") died unexpected and the phone was not usable.
I returned to XWJS8 but is not the solution I wanted.
I became so disgusted with Samsung while waiting for the 2.3.3 upgrade, I gave up a phone company in town upgraded my phone to 2.3.3 for me and it works great. I am happy about that, however KIES now says my phone is not able to be updated... I bought the phone from Vodafone Australia and the firmware looks like it is from Korea?? CSC:JVK (KOR).
Does anyone know how to fix this?? Must I change the firmware again?? The problem is that I have never seen a firmware that is Australia based.. Is it possible to change some setting to trick the phone into thinking that the firmware is from Australia and therefore allowing the updates to occur??
It can't hurt to ask...
Thank you for any replies...
You will have to reflash your phone if you want to get it back to an Australian firmware.
The KOR one is the generic Samsung (Korean company) firmware.
You can check out this web site http://fus.nanzen.se/ to see if your service provider has released a 2.3.3 firmware as yet.
If they have, you can use the CheckFusDownloader application from that site to download the firmware, and you will need to follow the instructions available in this forum to flash the firmware to your phone.
You can change CSC without reflashing (sometimes).
You just type a code into your phone on the dial-pad, utilising your IMEI code, (i think you type *#06# to find out IMEI).
Be aware, one you select a new option (If you have multi CSC on your phone) your phone will reboot and wipe itself with the new CSC. So i say this once and only once DO NOT DO THIS UNLESS YOU ARE FULLY BACKED UP, and/or also don't mind starting from fresh again.
For Galaxy S it is *#272*IMEI CODE#.
Also, my phone is updated to latest firmware and KIES does not recognise it. This is good, because Kies is bad. I'd advise to backup your stuff manually, it's not hard.
If you are using Galaxy S I9000, i strongly suggest getting to know how the program ODIN works. There are plenty of guides on here, and unless you're a total dweeb or seriously unlucky it's a very easy process and hard to balls up.
But, as always, make sure you know what you're doing.
You should be able to get JVT now over KIES.

Also, to my knowledge, it doesn't matter if you're on the wrong CSC.
The only problem you may encounter is that Market may have a different selection apps, and some may be undownloadable, other downloadable.
Basically, if keywords like 'flashing' and 'Odin' put the fear into you. It's ok, it doesn't matter. My phone ran on KOR CSC for 6 months without any problems, albeit i'm in UK.
Hope this is of some help.
EDIT:
AND i just found this post.

Upgrading firmware can be a daunting experience for beginners like me, with the fear of producing a "brick" always present. Fortunately, I was helped by the following excellent thread by a member (dr.ketan). The thread shows how to download of the desired LA4 ROM and the Odin program and how to do the upgrade..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
Notice that the thread also provided a password (samfirmware.com) which is needed to unzip the LA4 ROM. Also note that in order to unzip the LA4 ROM you need to use 7-zip and not Winzip available from the following link:
http://www.7-zip.org/download.html
I have just successfully upgraded from the UK ROM (KK5) to the German ROM (LA4) so that I no longer need to keep checking on the Note for the UK ROM update. I've seen the new keyboard with the number row at the top which can be docked to the left or right side of the screen.
So thanks once again (I did hit his thanks button) to dr.ketan for your excellent thread.

Did you update your CSC code or did you have to factory reset at any point? I'm using a XEN Note and still on KK5 as well. I need to avoid a factory reset or wipe ROM since I have an app (Good) that's a pain to get re-authorized if I have to re-install it.

If you follow the update thread you will see there is no mention of CSC code. There was no factory reset and my Note looks unchanged except for the LA4 additions. I'm hoping that now I'm using the German ROM that I receive updates sooner.
By following these steps, did you:
1) loose root ?
2) loose adhoc network support (wpa_supplicant file changes) ?
Thanks Gaugerer. Could you please tell which options did you select in Odin? And which files should be selected in bootloader, pit, phone, csc, dump ? I am downloading LA4 rom with check fus downloader, so I would get the same files. Thanks again.

Thanks for your post. I think I will keep my UK CSC for now but if the UK updates don't improve then I'll switch.
Hey All,
I got a Note 3 N9005, which supposedly was purchased in UAE.
Currently trying to use it in India, but, the device always says "No Service", with a crossed circle instead of network signal icon on notification bar.
Phone is on 4.2.2 with UGNH1. Below are some observations:
- Phone does NOT ask for any PIN / Unlock Code.
- In Settings > Status.. irrespective of any SIM, or no SIM.. Mobile Network Type = Unknown, Service State= Out of service, Mobile Network State=Disconnected.
- Orig CSC code is displayed as XTC from Phone Info App
- Tried to select a different CSC from CSC Select app.. it changed the boot logo but, network status.. still crossed circle
- IMEI is proper as printed below the battery
- Still i tried ChainFire's RegionLockAway. But, as expected, the method is only for MI7 / MJ1 / MJ3 JB versions. Sadly mine has already crossed and has A2 bootloader. So, no change was observed with CF RegionLockAway. Reverted the cahnges.
- Tried to flash MJ1 / MJ3 binaries from sammobile. As expected the latest bootloader won't allow to downgrade.
- Flashed Omega, but for no luck. Still no service and crossed circle icon.
- Flashed latest CyanogenMod. Though there was no Crossed Circle icon, there was an icon of network signal with zero network.
- Flashed official Lollipop verson to see if any changes.. no luck. Reverted back.
- Installed advanced network info app, network status, neighboring MSC, cells.. etc was shown as none.
No clue how to enable the device's network capabilities (all else like WiFi and other feature work as usual).
It will be a great help if you can guide me through! Please let me know if any other info is required.
Thanks a lot in advance. !!
Purchased in UAE doesn't necessarily it was a UAE phone. Phone Info Samsung from Play Store can tell you where it is from.
What I would do is...
Download the firmware from Sammobile to suit your phone. One fairly common issue is that Hong Kong or Chinese phones get sold into Europe or other markets and their PIT and other partitions are different. So first thing is to go back to scratch.
If you phone IS from where you think, make sure you have the stock firmware for that location and flash the latest version using Odin and Download mode.
Start Odin - v3.09 is best.
To enter DL mode for anything to do with BL or Modem you MUST turn phone off. It is best to remove the battery and wait a while, then put it in and use the Power On+Vol-Down+Home key to get into DL mode, then [plug phone into PC and wait for Odin to notice it is there.
(if Odin doesn't notice it, get the latest Samsung USB drivers for the phone and install them with phone unplugged, then plug in phone and Windows should give a pop-up)
Click on AP in Odin and navigate to where you saved the firmware - note you DL'd a zip but you need the md5 file so use 7zip to unpack the zip.
Click on the md5 file and wait for it to load into Odin.
* [Auto Reboot] and [F.Reset Time] should be the ONLY things ticked.
Click [Start] and wait.
Let phone restart and set it up with your details. Once done see if you have network.

Thanks Journyman16 for the quickreply.
I installed the "Phone Info Samsung" app as you mentioned and found the phone's CSC code is XTC! (= Philippines (Open Line))!!

Update:
Flashed below 3 stock firmwares from sammobile, each time cleared cache and factory wipe.. still the crossed circle is hopelessly adamant and persistent.
4.4.2 N9005XXUGNH1
4.4.2 N9005XXUGNI4
4.3 N9005XXUDMJ7 (failed to flash, i guess due to current bootloader version A3)
I tried with Odin 3.09.3 & 3.10.6 & 3.07 .... same result.
Any suggestions? please share.. I'm ok to soft brick the phone Recovered from boot loop few times

They are old stock ROMs - how sure are you the phone wasn't updated to the new version of BL? I'm not sure if you're on the new version and then try to downgrade it, which version you will see in Phone Info but check it. There's also a phone # code to use that returns the basics for the phone, but I can't recall if you said you get calls or not and I'm heading for bed. Think the code is something like *#12334#* - google for secret smartphone codes.

Yea Journyman16, they seem to be still good old of 4.4.2. Latest must be 5.0. On samobile, for XTC i could see only till 4.4.2. Maybe for this phone version, there are no updates? Not sure.
And, yes, sadly BL is updated to A3. Which I could see in Recovery mode's REV line. (if it was A1, I could have flashed MI7 and tried RegionLockAway.. )
*#1234# gives the below info:

Any heads up ?!

I'd upgrade rather than try to get around the downgrade issues. What Region do you WANT to have? European ones seem to get early release of upgrades - e.g. many LP ROMs are based around the Polish release.
I don't know enough to interpret logs, but my thought would be to find a non-Philippines version (one of the Europe ones perhaps) and find a PIT file for that one. Then go read up on how to safely flash a new PIT. Then flash your preferred firmware and follow the root process etc.
I started with a HK version of S3 - every time I tried to flash a new ROM it failed and bricked my phone. Eventually I found that the PIT file on most Asian phones was different and I flashed PIT, then stock FW for the region I wanted then re-rooted and flashed the custom ROM.
Read many time, flash once, OK? I do not make bricks, nor need them, so I will not accept them delivered to my door...

There's a Euro PIT on the link at This Post - I checked and the dropbox is still valid. It's 4.4.2 so could be just what you need.
Now you probably want an India ROM but I haven't any links for that 0 there's a thread for India users though I think.
What I think might be happening is that different countries use different frequencies and formats for signal. It might be that India's set up simply doesn't work with the modem you've been using and the India ROM will not set up with the Asian PIT set up etc.
But read up on the process first, OK? The more you know about it the better chance you have to recover from anything going wrong.
Also, I presume from your OP that the phone NEVER worked once you got it? Do you know for a fact it worked prior to that? Maybe you're chasing solutions for a faulty hardware issue?

Hi Journyman16, thanks for the suggestions.. i tried the pit file you referred, but, still no luck. And, if i'm not wrong pit file is all about allocating ROM space for /system & /dbdata and has nothing to deal with the antenna/telephony module, please correct if i'm not right.
About the phone's status yea you're right. It never worked after i received it. But, it was working usually in UAE, as per the info i got. Maybe.. as you suspected.. it might be faulty hardware too.. I don't know.. just exploring the options.. to conclude something..

And, yes, sadly BL is updated to A3. Which I could see in Recovery mode's REV line. (if it was A1, I could have flashed MI7 and tried RegionLockAway.. )
*#1234# gives the below info:
AP: UGNH1
CP: UGNH1
CSC: BGNH1
Any heads up ?!

The only unbranded NH1's seem to be Greece or Netherlands. Netherlands has a 5.0 - maybe DL that and flash in Odin? Greece has a v5.0 but it's branded with (EUR) so I don't know if that's a company or general... I'd go the Netherlands one.
Other than that, I'm not sure - might be time to get the phone checked properly?
Finally.. could trace the root cause.. antenna / receiver chip malfunction. So, it was an hardware issue that had to be replaced at a cost at service center.
Summary: If network icon is crossed circle, its not a good sign !! Thanks

I'd like to change the CSC of my phone to a different one. Could I just flash the BTU image via ODIN? What should I do?
I do not have root.

Download the latest BTU-firmware from i.e. SamMobile
1. Install Odin 3.10.7
2. Put AP BL CP CSC in the designated slots (your device will be resetted afterwards)
If you reflash the current AP + BL + CP BUT use the Home-CSC version the device will not reset data.

You can use the firmware the henklbr posted and use the home-csc from the country u want.
I did this on a BTU csc and went to the PHN csc without erasing anything.

Do make sure you backup the data, because it is not 100% guaranteed..

PHN is from my own country, it holds carrier specific stuff.
Basically you can use any CSC you want, but some CSC versions also install extra software at first boot.

I bought my S7E from eBay and the CSC is THR (Iran).
Is there any reason I should change the CSC? What do you recommend? BTU or NEE? Any other?
Thank you!

If the phone works fine now i would not change anything.
If you are a flashaholic then use the latest and greatest from the link i posted.
If you just want automatic updates on a regular basis via OTA then flash BTU, chances are that this firmware will be updated quicker.

I just want OTAs.
If BTU has G935FXXU1APD3 and THR has G935FXXU1APD1 does it mean the BTU version has a newer version?

In that case you must flash the stock image from BTU.
That firmware can be easily found.
But keep in mind that this will reset the phone !!!

Can I ask why it will reset the phone? If I flash from current version APD1 from THR to APD3 from BTU via ODIN, will it reset my data?

If you want OTA then you need to setup the phone with all stock firmware.
So you need to use the CSC file and NOT the Home_CSC file.
When using the normal CSC file, the script in the CSC formats data on your phone. (factory reset)
Sure you can use Home_CSC but then you will not get OTA files, or when you get them they will fail when installing.

So you're saying if I put HOME_CSC, OTA will not work, so I MUST use original CSC file and format my data if I want to get OTAs?
No way around this without losing my data? It's a pain in the a** to format everything...

Brotuck, thank you very much for all your posts here. They have been very useful for me! I bought a Galaxy S7 online for quite a good price. Phone has worked well with no issues apart from one! Which was that it would not upgrade to the latest firmware for the S7 from Samsung: G930FXXU1APD3. My phone had the upgrade ending in APD1. I did some investigation using PhoneINFO app from the Play store and turns out my phone CSC code was TRI and BGY which are Vietnam and Hong Kong! Turns out my phone is a grey market phone as I am in the UK.
I wanted APD3 because I am in the UK with the EE network which provides WiFi calling which I wanted for my my phone as I work in a building which has very poor reception but has WiFi. I read the APD3 version allows for WiFi calling. I called all the Samsung helplines to get my phone upgraded but no luck. Eventually I thought to go the DIY route and found this thread! I was quite wary of downloading and updating my phone using the Odin method and thought long and hard several times fearing I would brick my phone! However last night I bit the bullet and updated!! You will be happy to know thanks to this thread, and various others I Googled, the phone upgraded with no issues (so far!). I can now see the WiFi toggle in the Phone settings!!! I used the full csc code and not the Home code and so had to add all my stuff back on the phone again but that was not too bad as I had backed up my phone using Smart Switch.
I have just one question though: My phone now shows Bootloader, PDA and CSC versions as G930FXXU1APD3 but the Baseband version is still showing: G930FXXU1APD1. Is this correct. Does the Baseband version not update with the latest firmware?
Many thanks again.
Best CSC for VOLTE - VIDEO CALLING - ATT
I am on ATT Network using the G935F - and I am curious if there is a CSC I can flash that would enable me to take advantatage of ATT VOLTE and VIdeo Calling from the main phone dialer apk?
I know I can use hangouts - but it would be simpler to use the regular dialer and I really would like the benefits of VOLTE if I can get them....
I understand that not all providers or all areas offer VOLTE or Native Video Calling for that matter but I beleive that some do - I Just don't knwo which ones?
Any suggestions?

It really depends on the used firmware you installed. It is very possible that PD1 is the baseband version.
Don't worry about it. If it all works fine, do not mess with it.
Change CSC make service codes (i.e. *#0*#) impossible to use.
