Flashing another ROM - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

Just got my GT-N7000 , and my fingers are already itching to flash another STOCK ROM . Is it safe to assume that ALL the GT-N7000 have the same hardware specs ?
Mine came with UBKK2 firmware/Kernel , that is not listed among the custom kernels of CF-Root; this is why I want to flash another stock ROM (not yet interested in any custom ROM) . I am thinking of flashing the latest pre-ICS firmware . Any suggestion on a firmware version ? Should I pay attention to the baseband version included in the ROM ?
Also, since Kies does NOT show me any available updates I guess ODIN is my only option ( not yet been rooted ) . Will ODIN increase the flash counter even if I flash a stock ROM ?
Thanks in advance,

All GT N7000s are the same. Flash yourself some ICS.
Edit: Flash the latest German GB ROM if you don't want ICS.

Nope, flashing with Odin doesn't increase flash counter if you flash STOCK roms
Read this thread (post #2) for instructions
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
Edit:
btw, my suggestion is same as the above: flash new ICS rom, you have link to tutorial in the post above (post #1, next to ICS rom)
If you want newest GB rom with root, I think you have to flash older stock rom first, root it, and then flash newest GB rom using Mobile Odin + everroot ...

well since I am not rooted yet, I would need to flash and older firmware that will allow me to install CF ROOT AND CWM.

Or you can flash either the odex or deodex pre rooted German ICS roms.

How to flash rom on a tablet?

I'm coming from Galaxy S2, and flashing the rom is very easy via Odin. I want to flash the Task650's KME V5 rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1227800).
Is it possible to flash that rom via odin? Please let me know. Many thanks in advance!
No. You have to flash the ROMs from cwm recovery. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1171089
Get FilesForDummies.zip, flash recovery-cwm_4.0.0.4-sam-tab-10.1.tar.md5 via Odin, put the ROM .zip on your tab, flash the ROM you like from cwm.
how can i root the stock rom then? I want to freeze some useless things

S4 stock rom and kernel

Hello there fellow XDA members, I have a problem with my S4. I installed the German version of 4.3, but I'm from Serbia which means different build numbers, and I haven't got any updates since(In updates i mean those small updates the size of 20mb like and so). So now I found my firmware for my country, but I also found a kernel for it, as a .tar file. My question now is, I know how to flash a rom via ODIN, but how do I flash a stock kernel, and should I do it before flashing the rom or after?

If u want all STOCK is better u use KIES for it. If ya wanna try ODIN, u dont need flash any STOCK kernel... only flash the STOCK ROM and is all :highfive:

EXACLY
but if you want to flash a separate kernel you need a recovery (CWM or TWRP) and an custom rom !

Thank you for the advice, I was just confused why would the rom and kernel be separated
Stock kernel is included in stock rom Odin flashable, so you shouldn't need to flash a kernel separately. If you want to though, PDA section of Odin same as a rom package.

You will have to flash a 4.4 rom first ( official or leaked doesn't matter ) because you need to update your bootloader to run 4.4. No root won't stay so you will have to re-root and install custom recovery too. Also, you can't go back to 4.3 once you update to 4.4.

Official is a single file you put in AP/PDA so it's easier and less confusing which files goes where.

Well it's supposed to match, but I never ever check my downloads..
Yes you need to update to Stock first before flashing (NA6 is OK no need for NA7)

Try flashing it even if the MD5 doesn't match, just have another ROM ready in case it doesn't work. Might just be an anomly that is causing the checksum issues.

I usually add Upgrade to Stock Kitkat via Odin >Root with cf-autoroot > Flash a custom Recovery > download custom ROM > flash via custom Recovery.
But thats because I need root and want to make sure my phone has rooted properly.....
Oh, and make sure the KK you flash ISN'T a branded rom - supplied by a foreign carrier as this can cause problems and may fail near end of ODIN flash...
No need to root when flashing a recovery :good:
EDIT: Re-Read your reasoning for doing so!

Just make sure you have the latest cf-autoroot and that the CWM you install is greater than version 4.0.4.6... These are KK friendly, anything else will cause issues...

How can I see if the KK I flash isn't a branded rom or not?
I'm using the cwm 6.0.4.7 (it said friendly KK )I think so, I no longer near my pc but I will confirm that later.
Use XEO (Poland) KK which is unbranded
HERE'S a fast link for it.

[Q] As a first timer on samsung what do i need to do ?

Hey guys i just bought this international exynos note 3 (N900) and i have some questions about it ;
1. I want to install all the roms kernels and mods i could find but in order to do that (I'm %100 stock btw) ,do i need to first unlock the device ( i dont know how i couldnt find it), then root it with CF- Auto root( my warranty is over so i dont need to think about KNOX i think??) Then use the dd method to flash a recovery and flash whatever i want. Am i right about the things i said on all above ? Is there an easier way to do it ?
2. Do KNOX ever prevents me from flashing things in ODIN if something gets triggered ?
3. If i am not right about the first question starting from %100 stock what do i need to do to get this baby rockin ? I'm thinking about flashing a stock lollipop rom with a custom kernel and root ofc. Any suggestions ?
4. Do we need to flash modems from odin ? Because when reading the AryaMods thread i saw something about updating the modem. I'm on 4.4.2 right now. Can we flash modems or even kernels from recovery ?
Thanks already!!

There is no much of roms to choose for this one. 9005 is most supported here.
Root using cf auto root.
Make back up of ta partion/imei.
Flash recovery with odin. Then flash roms in twrp (watch the ere about how to use twrp or YT).
flash stock roms using odin.
Can't i just flash recovery from odin then flash a custom rom after that without rooting ? Thanks!

If you are going to flash roms based on lollipop, update your phone to latest stock rom for your model using odin so you get latest bootloader.
Dude, you need root access to access system and write to it. Don't custom roms require root, if you take a look? (don't answer to this [emoji61] )
If you want that way, flash twrp with ? odin. Then flash supersu for your model using twrp. That way too you get root. Then flash roms after (read rom instructions).
Ask if all wondering. ?

No my question was; not rooting the device in the first place before flashing the recovery and the rom. The roms already comes with the root in it. So just to be clear first upgrade the base to lollipop from odin then flash a recovery and lastly flash a lollipop rom. Would this be your sequence when you just bought a new note 3 ?

Flash latest firmware then custom recovery then flash the custom rom of your choice. No need to root after flash official firmware but it's good to root first as you may want to backup efs before you start messing the phone. I backed up the efs for the past 1.5years but so far never need it.
