A few days back I flashed CM7.1 stable from the cyanogenmod website. I am having some weird issues with the wifi. The internet suddenly stops working even though I am connected to the internet and I can use the internet on my laptop. When I switch Wifi off and back on again the internet starts working again. Is this a bug in CM7? BTW, I am running the Froyo kernel on this device and this is a T-Mobile UK device.
I was having wifi problems on CM7 until about a week ago.
I then started from scratch and flashed nordic sbf then the latest maniac CM7.2.RC1
Switched baseband to my region (UK) and it's been rock solid ever since, not dropped a single connection.

Hello. I have been using void until now. Sometime ago I tested Oxygen. I immedietly noticed a problem with connections. The phone had to be in roaming mode to get any connections at all. Even then I was only able to call and send txt but no internet was available.
So I switched back to void which worked like a charm.
Today I suddenly got the urge to try something new again. So I installed MIUI. The same problem exist with it as it did with oxygen. No internet connection what so ever. After furiously messing with the roaming mode button and a couple of restart the internet connection suddenly came to life. But it is extremely slow and it suddenly disconnects from time to time.
I have a model bought from finland and it was originally with saunalahti version of 135. Any help on how to continue using 2.3 based roms would surely be appriciated.
This is not rom problem. I used all roms and never ever had ANY of problems. ANY.

Let me clarify this once and for all. Android is a slightly different OS, it uses something called middleware, which acts like a bridge between the hardware and the drivers on each Rom.
Now going back to your B135, which is very old btw, you need to upgrade the Stock Rom to at least B137, which will upgrade your AMSS file. This way the Wifi/3G/screen/sensors modules get updated firmware and that should fix your connectivity problems with 2.3 drivers.
Saunalahti is MVNO and it roams on Elisas network so it's normal that you need to enable roaming. Stock ROM has modified RILs or something so that they recognise Elisas network as Saunalahtis and then you don't need to enable roaming. I tried getting those RIL work with Oxygen but those didn't fix it. Cyanogenmod has settings so you don't need to roam. (atleast you can get rid of that roaming symbol)
I don't understand why it works with Void and FLB, maybe those are based on some other MVNO's stock rom idk. Or does it work as it should on every Froyo ROM? Haven't tried other ones and really cba.
You can just enable roaming, you won't get any fees for that as long as you roam on finnish networks. (and it just roams on Elisa afaik)

This is a well know problem. As you know, Saunalahti runs on Elisa's network and when using 2.3 roms, operator is identified as Elisa, thus making the phone think that its roaming.
Some have tried fixin this, but nothing yet.
There is no harm enabling data roaming (international data roaming can be disabled from oma.saunalahti). Or by using CM7 which has an option for "national data roaming". That also removes the roaming icon...
sorry a lil OOT,
how about other features like usb tethering on 2.3.x?i see all gingerbread roms for huawei ideos x5 have issue on these.
is there any solution/workaround for usb tethering?
thanks
Hi!
I have no idea how but somehow my wi-fi signal on my phone got like 3 time worse today. e.g. Two days in my room i had full signal for my modem now its barely connected.
I first restarted my modem and it didnt fixed anything. My prothers phone(HTC desite) wifi works perfect with full signal and mine not.
Today when i went to work and tried to connect to the companys free public wifi connection and it couln't find the signal at all.
I have no idea what happend to my phone. curently i'm using custom rom aurora
3.0 beta. This issue just came from nowhere.
Its my wifi adapter damaged? or is there a way to fix this problem by my self?
thx in advance!
dzo is improving the wifi driver, just stay tunned in the rom thread...
Your phone is OK, the driver is not so well
Go back to a more stable version and the prolem should be solved.
I also installed the original 2.3.5 gingerbread and still have the same problem.
its possible that the aurora wifi driver was still present when i installed the offical rom?
The main point of all problems - WHY USE FULL OF BUGS .35 WHEN THERE ARE ALMOST BUG FREE .32 ROMS.

It looks like something is wrong with my phone and i'm pretty sure its not the rom thats causing the wi-fi failure. I will clean my phone as much as i can from the rooting and changing roms and than send it to service.
I remmeber that this morning "12 hours ago" my phone felt accidently on the ground.
It didnt shut down or leaved any scratch. maybe than dmged wi-fi. i dont know :S
Hello!
I've just installed CM7 in my Defy. It's working very well, except that my home wifi network is not appearing in the available networks list!
This happened too with a friend of mine that come to my place some weeks ago, with a Sony/LG dunno-the-model also running ICS under CM. But I didn't look into the problem as I he would only be staying a couple of days.
Now I noticed the exact same thing happened to me. And my network was working perfectly with the stock 2.2.1.
Anyone have any idea of what's happening? lol

In the wifi settings, is there an "avoid poor connections" option? Donno for sure because haven't used CM7, but in CM10 is like that.

No =(
There's only something related to wifi sleep policy, MAC and fixed IP.
Looks like the problem is related to Wifi Channels (CM doesn't search after channel 11), as I've seen in CM forums.
I'll test it by the night and I'll post here if it works.
Cant post in the developers forum (not enough posts yet).
Currently running CM10 on a defy green lens but an having issues with the wifi connectivity. When the wifi toggle is on it seems to kill 3g and wifi does not work. turn off wifi and 3g is fine.
Happy to roll back to the most stable cm10 version just no idea which to go with (had 12/8/12 build before that didnt have the issue until this morning for some reason - hence the upgrade)
cheers

so i flashed back to tghe earlier build that was working OK for about a month but still no sucess. Any suggestions as to what version I can flash to or should I go back to CM7 or CM9 maybe ? Other than this one issue (which was fine until yesterday) I really like CM10.
Killing 3g while Wi-Fi is on is normal. You cannot use both connections at a time.
Can other devices access the internet using the same access point? Have you properly configured the access point on your defy?

yes other devices can use the web. normally when the wifi is in range it kicks in and overrides the 3g. in this case the wifi symbol was coming on in the botification bar but was staying gray and then not connecting to the web.
As it turns out it all started working again this afternoon - no idea why but after 12 hours of not working it appears to be fine again, and I have updated to the 26/9 build and that is fine also, so I've no idea whats going on here - all i care is that its working again thank goodness,
cheers

Spoke too soon. Problem has reappeared again tonight.
Hi there,
after being on MokeeOS Crazy Speed (Android 2.3.6) for quite some time I decided to upgrade my Defy (MB525) to the newer MokeeOS 4.2.2 RC4. The update went without any problems any I quite like the Rom, but there is a huge issue with the Wifi-Connection.
I see my Home-Network and can connect to it without any problems and I also stay connected to it, as far as I can tell, but there is "almost" no data coming through. When I say "almost" I mean, that for the first 3 seconds (maximum) after I turned the Wifi off and on again and the device connects itself to it, I get data and can visit e.g. Websites or even the Playstore, if lucky.
I had this particular Issue with the latest stable and nightly version of the Rom.
Maybe I just need to change some settings on my phone or my router to get it to work, but I couldn't find anything on this or other forums. I hope that somebody knows this problem and may know a solution to fix it.
