I'm trying to connect my TF101 to a V-Gear Landisk (SMB share) on my network.
I can connect with my PC (on the same wired network), and see the top-level MUSIC folder and many sub-folders.
I have tried ES File Explorer, CifsManager, Mount Manager, and AndSMB with essentially the same results:
I can connect and see the top-level MUSIC folder, but when I open it, I don't see any sub-folders.
In some cases, I get error messages such as "path doesn't exist" or "timeout"; sometimes I just see an empty folder.
Can anyone help me get this working?
Thanks,
Eric

From PC to PC, you can network a shared folder. How can I share a folder on my PPC and network it so either my mac or pc can grab files without having to use ActiveSync or the ridiculous The Missing Sync for mac.
use resco explorer
you can use resco explorer to set up a network share. then copy any files from your PPC to your network share location. Hope this works.

Click to collapse
I'll give this a try, thanks.
And, without that, for instance, with File Explorer not possible? I can 'open path' ?
I made it work
I made it kinda work. I am sure there is something wrong, but what I did actually worked. There may be enough correct info here to help:
#1 - I installed a cmd shell
#2 - using the 'net use' command:
net use \\<machine name>\<export name> <password> /user:<domain>\<user name>
#3 now authentication window comes up, and I type in my password.
#4 now I have remote access:
copy \\<machine name>\<export name>\<file name>
When I installed the "total commander" application, I noticed there is a directory now called //network, with a sub directory called <password> ( my actual password ). Inside the password directory are all the remote files. I guess "net use" works a bit differently on this platform than I expect. So I do not know what is going on, but I do have file sharing across SMB..... ;-)
I want to extract the audio from a note from my VX6800. I connected my phone to my laptop and copied the note PWI file to my laptop but when I try opening it in word it says 'access denied'.
Any ideas?
hey, i was trying to access a folder over the lan, via wifi, and it sorta worked, until i clicked a file, and now i get an error, cannot connect with current network settings, so, i cant connect to the network folder, and the icon shows up next to device, an memory card, even in vista when connected to active sync. could somebody tell me how to remove the folder, or at least help me get the settings right to acces the folders again.its kinda irritating
bump, does anybody knows how to remove the network folder?
Go to the registry and delete this branch to remove the most recently used of network folders in File Explorer:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\File Explorer\DialogMRU\
ok tnxs, i will try it
Hi,
I can't download any file from my FTP server with Resco Explorer. I can connect me to the server and see all files and paths. Also I can rename, delete and upload files. But I'm not able to download from FTP servers. Every time I get an error message, "Unknown path - unknown error". Is there a solution to solve this problem or is this a general problem? I use the HTC HD2 and Resco Explorer v8.05. But it is still the same with the old v08.01.
Thanks!
Hi! all. recently i have this problem copying large video files from windows explorer to the iconia. everytime i copy & paste a large file such as 1 or 2gb, windows explorer will stop functioning & restart. i notice that small files such as pix & mp3 do not have this issue. but if a folder that is 1gb in size with lotsa pix or music in it is transfered, the same thing will occur. i tried wifi file transfer but it keeps getting disconnected halfway & i have to redo the whole process again. anyone can help?
What I recommend is getting ES File Explorer from, the market, its free. Then share, say your home folder over the network in windows, as ES can access Samba file share. Then copy and paste within ES instead of your computer not only does it work wonderfully, but you aren't tethered to your home computer and you don't have to use Acers terrible driver Lemme know if it works.
Even easier, withthe File Expert (free), yuu don't have to have a permanent network share, it has a web interface for transfering to and from the tablet. It also has root access, so no need for a separate root explorer.
same with es on root access. I find sharing a folder easier for me, but thats just me.
