Well, I don't know that much about the hardware, but I would prefer Intel over AMD (if you got the cash that is). And for the graphics card, you could go for a really powerful one, or go for two less expensive ones with Nvidia sli or Ati crossfire (depending on what brand your going to get). Here in Holland we have this comparison Site called tweakers.net, maybe you can find something like that too? Hope this helps a little

For the cpu, you could consider an i7-2600, at least if you have the money, otherwise an amd phenom ii x6 is also good, but a lot cheaper. For the graphics card, you can take an gtx 680, or else an hd7870.
Sent from my GT-I5800 using XDA App
To Me, I have AMD Phenom II X4 945 which is comparable with i5 and is lot cheaper than it.
For Graphic Card, go for ATI Radeon HD 6750 1 GB DDR3, it's cheaper and it's in Top 10 list in PassMark Performance Ratings.

Did anyone buy one of these? I am tempted for my 11 year old. She loves Netflix (we only have one tv set and we don't let the kids use it much) and I saw a review that said the app works. She is currently using the non-activated cricket zte score I picked up for $30 a few weeks ago.

This tablet will be a lot better than the ZTE Score as far as hardware goes. The ZTE Score is only ARMv6/ARM11 which means no flash and limits gaming performance. Some apps like Temple Run only work decently on ARMv7.
The Cortex A8 isn't the latest generation, A9 is out, but at least the A8 can handle ARMv7 instructions. This tablet should handle games a lot better than the ZTE Score.
I wonder if you could get something like this to pull apps from the Android Market. It's right in the price-range of what I'd like to spend on a tablet right now for when I go in for chemo and am stuck in a bed for a while.

Sounds like I'm going to head to the local store and try to find one of these guys. Would be fantastic for reading and especially for my daughter.
Cheers mate
Tried to stop by one local store before they closed tonight at 9pm, and they didn't have any available. They were nice enough to call some other local stores to see if they have them available. Looks like there's a BL about 45 minutes away, but I'm not sure I want to make the trip that far while I'm dealing with chemo treatment and having just had gallbladder removal surgery.
I'll keep people updated, it seems there are a few sites with some information on the devices, but I'm still waffling since it's only a 480x800 resolution.
Lack of camera and the resolution is what is killing it for me. I almost went up there to buy it but then I remembered how much of an impulse buyer I am. I waited a little while then decided not to get it.
How did everyone make out with these.

I've read of people powering it via a tv's usb socket but some televisions won't produce the power needed and then the 802 will lose power and need restarting.
Some tv's will tell you how much power can be provided to usb devices, my samsung does so in it's on screen manual. You might be able to find similar data for your tv.

Yes logitech 400 works great with the MK802! I've gotten Hulu, Netflix, Slingbox, Tversity, and Plex all working. Also have Droidmote with android cell phone E4GT working as well to play games or move, scroll, and click the mouse on the big screen. All ripped Blu-rays are streaming in perfect HD thru the otg usb port from a seagate goflex usb drive. Wifi and usb Ethernet playing blu-rays have very limited success (some do play from my PC). However, all dvds play on both wifi wireless and usb Ethernet input. Development on custom rom is under-way to enable both mic and camera input. Therefore, Screencast app should record all online video content. Making the MK802 a HTAPC recorder.

I dont know where you got that they have the same hardware. If you look at the tec specs on both devices you will see that the Kickstarter project has a oem built cortex a9 processor over a generic a8. That's a big difference plus the gpu in the Kickstarter project is a Mali-400 and in the Chinese one it just uses some generic stuff.
Also the WiFi is faster in the Kickstarter one as well

The specs on kickstarter changed from 512 mb to 1 gb to compete with mk802. The 802 also uses a mali 400.
They both use cortex cpu's of same speed but one is a8 and one is a9 so no they are very similar except wifi isn't 802.11 n on one just is b/g which mist people have anyway.
The 802 is cheaper but you supply the controller, however both have same gpu and os, very similar cpu and same ram so neither one is notably more superior than the other.

No, USB from the TV works fine. BTW some USB on brands like Samsung may only be for maitenance and may not have the required 5 volts to power the device.
That kickstarter is not a newly produced item, it's just a new casing and 1gb ram upgrade to an existing chinese stick on the market, nothing special at all. It's really disappointing to see infinitec taking so much credit for renaming an existing product like they invented it, but hey, they're great marketers apparently. Also, some MK802s claim wifi N compliance, might be from the recently released rikomagic firmware for it or perhaps an update in design.
I myself plan on getting an oval elephant, I want linux more than android, and it has better power specs and safeties than the mk802.
i have mine powered by the USB from my TV.
works great. i can even set my tv with sleep function and it also turns the mk802 off.
This thing is really intresting.
Fount the same one for $59.99

The only reason I looked at the Surface was for better photoshop support and being able to use ArtRage since they seem to have been working on the android app for 2 or 3 years now with no success or even a beta. Everything else I need to do I can do in android just fine. I really thought it would be better for those apps, then I saw the intel integrated graphics and that idea got thrown out real quick...

Which is still a complete waste of money.
Buying a devce with an IntelHD is like buying a Bugatti Vehron with the engine of a 10 year old Ford Ka. It is by far the worst bottleneck possible.
You get a 4th gen I7 3.3Ghz, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD, 2K res and Win 8.1 Pro.... And a GPU that can't even run a 5 year old game on Medium.
I own a laptop with similar specs, with the IntelHD 5000. I tried playing RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 at 1080 on High. Framerate: 5fps. Anything with an IntelHD isn't worth more than 5 quid. Regardless of the other specs.
A device is only as fast as its slowest part. An IntelHD 5000 equals the old Nvidia 7600GT.
its seems there is a misconception about the HD5000 performance. mbp's+mba's have been coming with the hd5k for a year now. It can run 3 2560x1600 screens without any issues. performance is more than adaquate. unless you're planning to play D3 with it...
far from it for me to revive an old thread...
update: actually I do use my i7 surface to run D3 ROS. performance is just fine. Can get 33+ fps at 1280+ (full specs) resolution without any issues.

For playing average games on Medium it's fine. For general use it can handle things perfectly well.
Diablo 3 was designed to run on older systems. It only asks Windows XP, Intel® Pentium® D, 2GB RAM and a 2005 NVIDIA® GeForce® 7800GT.
You manage to play a game well on an HD5000 that is meant to run well on a videocard from 2005. Yes, the required 7800GT is 10 years old. Not exactly an achievement....
But I pity the fool who tries to make it handle a 5000x5000px 60+ layer Photoshop file.
Give Dragon Age Inquisition on Ultra a try. You won't get past the 5fps.
I've got one in my laptop (In the delightfully ****e Optimus setup), and it's a nightmare. I prefer heavier games, like Dragon Age, Mass Effect, FEAR, Skyrim... The poor thing can't even handle 20fps at medium.
"That's because of the rest of your laptop!" Eh, no, because when I manually switch it to my 4GB VRAM GT 740M, they run at 55FPS on Ultra at 1920x1080. (Sorry, I've heard that argument so many times that I'm just preemptively dealing with it by now. If you weren't going to say it, just ignore it. )
Did you know most new games don't even start with an IntelHD? It's listed in the specs. Give Cities Skylines a try. It won't launch an actual game.

Nice touch with the cards and the dice. Didn't you have any poker chips?
Is that humongous monitor really mounted on a single point? I really like two points, I don't like booble-headed displays.
The PC is nice and clean, but I always go for the minimum of wasted space.
There really should be a better scheme (in general) for the retention of the back end of PCI cards. The flippy clips are not really secure and don't do anything for the top corner.

Damn, that's spicy. Definitely a different build though, I don't have/use Facebook. Spooky for sure.

No poker chips but is a nice idea, might have to go out and get some.
I used to have a 24" 1080p display and since upgrading the monitor haven't gotten around to swapping out the arm from the little one I have there. It does support 27" but I want you get something beefier like you suggested.
Thanks for the feedback!
if you haven't already done so, can i recommend you try ctr 2.1rc5 to overclock your ryzen ?
my build has the same cpu, with 2x8gb b-die ram running at 1800 (3600)
the clocking software has 4 out of 6 cores managing to hit over 4.6ghz, with the weaker 2 hitting a mere 4.38 at peak, with maximal vcore never above 1.375v, and usually way less
runs ~ 10c cooler than the stock settings, and way faster
it's a beautiful thing...

Yeah, it's pretty quiet. I need to replace the back fan to match the others in the front as it's the only one I can hear and gets loud at the same rpm. Once I put my closed backs on I can't hear a thing.
